Truthisunique2: amaechi would continue on legacy projects have he have proven as minister of transportation
Amaechi would ensure an economy that is friendly to the masses
Amaechi would bring a new approach to governance he is one man that is not afraid to step on toes, so all these stupidity those in ministries are used to would stop
Amaechi would put the fear of the people into government
Amaechi would ensure the issue of discrimination in terms of who can do what would stop so that competence would be employed irrespective of tribes
I can go on, but these are just little excepts I observed from his governance of rivers state that was well balance all round than what wike is giving them now
When I was in Port Harcourt about 10 years ago, I remember Amaechi's revamp of public schools. He was so bullish on it, so much so that many of the public primary schools had computers and new classrooms. To go public school those days go dey hungry you. I don't know if those were maintained now though.
samorobo: So many people would like this.pls look at the figures and weep hot blood. Already google is about to set up their biggest African tech hub here. They saw shiny SA but left it for something way more better, rare and advanced. So many western companies will soon start coming in their troops. This global Imbalance will even hasten it up more.
Imagine wetin go happen when constant electricity finally enter?
Spandau: Your thinking is shallow. Is he in Nigeria? Is there any shooting range in your rates country for citizens? It is in Nigeria that learning how to use firearms and learning how to protect yourself, outside of being a police, paramilitary or military personnel, is a crime. In developed countries, using a shooting range and learning to use automatic weapons is not a big deal.
AKWATGOLD1: Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi should have been called Minister for Railways instead of Minister for Transportation looking by his achievement.
What about the ports? Why I like Amaechi though is this: He does his job even if not completely. He may be corrupt of course, but he knows he is not just there to loot but to put a few things on ground at least. Of course, this is not the best Nigeria can offer and he has his weaknesses but many of our politicians don't know why they are in that position, they have no idea on what to do in their job and they just loot or let corruption only, become their major legacy when they leave office.
68816419: Not really, my issue with Kenyans is their celebration of mediocrity. He took far more loans and did less, The Buhari administration took lesser loans to build and revamp countless road projects (317+km Abuja Kano dual carriage road project, Lagos-Ibadan roads, Enugu-PH, Lagos badagar.....), provide social relief informs of npower and the rest, revamped and built five new international airports, built the Lagos-Ibadan sgr rail project, Another major benefit for this administration is the agriculture sector. Uhuru is a criminal who must be imprisoned.
Hmm I'll still say Uhuru has the development of his country at heart. At least you can say he had the political will to put some things on ground (corrupt or no). He may be corrupt and may have borrowed a lot or worse still even looted borrowed funds, but the political will to build infrastructure for his people is there. Many African leaders lack this political will and zeal for infrastructure and many others are lacking ideas or completely clueless on how to go about new infrastructures for their countries. There is no excuse for any African nation not to start developing her infrastructure at this time, even if some of them are so called small or poor countries.
So let's look at Senegal vs Tanzania . Senegal has a lot going for it lately that we don't hear about. The French, Chinese, Europeans, Americans, etc seem to have a growing interest in Senegal at the moment.
Kazikazi: Depends on criteria used.On infrastructure, east africa is ahead of west Africa. If anyone argues.the picture contest will start by full force
East Africa is more beautiful in the landscape and beaches than West Africa. It also has perhaps slightly more sky scrapers especially in Nairobi and Addis-Ababa. Aside that, you can't compare East Africa to West Africa on infrastructure (both ongoing and even present). I am ready for this challenge .
We present our top four from West Africa (by my judgement):
Coted'Ivore, Ghana, Senegal, and Nigeria (in no particular order) representing West Africa.
You bring in perhaps the top four from East Africa:
Tanzania, Kenya, Ethiopia, and Rwanda (in no particular order) representing East Africa.
I think the people of Kano have always been very cooperative with the police there against any form of insecurity. I remember Bokoharam didn't find Kano conducive for long as well.
Schemerkhiz: One of her strong side, which will definitely favor Oshoala or whosoever that is going to be Playing the no.9, because those her dangerous crosses are going to light up the Superfalcons game.. Stella Mbachu was one of those dangerous ball crosser from the wing back then before she retired, Ordega used to supply some of those crosses too but she seems to have lost it all or should I say halfway....
When do you think she'll be joining the super falcons?
PDPGuy: For all that to happen, Waldrum has to fashion a way to get the team to string more than 3 passes in midfield, and improve the tactical awareness of some of the players. Too many times, as we saw with the SE, players would hold on to the ball for far too long before making a pass, when a simple one-time pass would suffice.
If we tell ourselves the truth, apart from probably Ndidi and to a much lesser extent Osimhen, our super eagles are simply average players. Osimhen has potential but he's not there yet. The rest are simply overhyped average players.
bigpicture001: You are very funny.. you just want to look for ways to support evil China.... Who told you u HV a choice of whom to carry out these projects and who also told you that transfer of technology is a thing that China could easily do..
China is evil
China is evil but we have infrastructures on ground with the China relationship much more than we ever had with the West.
bigpicture001: Please speak like an informed person...China doesnt build your economy..they only give you loans..which the EU througg the world bank and IMF has been doing since like forever...EU givs grants,China don't..
China like to stipulate that in all their loans, chinese goods must be used to carry out the projects and chineses nationals must undertake the the facilitation of such project to the tune of at least 30℅.. Again, chinese companies must be awarded the contract...
Is that one not slavery..?
I still think this is better than receiving grants though because of corrupt leaders who may not use the grants properly. If the African Governments are wise, they would ensure that indigenous firms or trainees be attached to those Chinese firms to understudy them as they build. Government should track the progress of these Indigenous firms who would then take over such projects, and be given the financial support to build more in the future.
micflo28: In as much as I blame Buhari for all the insecurity, I still commend him in the area of infrastructures. These are economic saboteurs targeting newly built infrastructures like rail and now the refinery. Should the refinery and 2nd Niger bridge come alive this year, then in fairness, Buhari has done well in critical assets that PDP failed on for the 16years they led.
In my opinion, no Government (Federal) passed without provision of constant electricity. And no state Government has done well without provision of pipeborne water.
dreamxhaser: It's impossible for SA to overtake Nigeria in the next 200 years population. I live in the north, and I can beat my chest to tell you that Nigeria's population is under-recorded.
