Well everyone is free to travel and of course abroad is good but the thing is: You would always be seen there as a foreigner. The unspoken thought of many citizens in this white countries is: Why can't these blacks stay in their country and make it work? In some countries they just tolerate the blacks or pretend to be nice. No matter how you hate or denigrate your country, you would never be seen as an American or European. Even African Americans are still struggling to be recognized in America despite their 400 years root. I am not against travelling, infact I did my masters in Germany and that's one of the best decision I made ever. But this hatred for one's own country is what baffles me. |
whiteboyswag:At the end of the day, U.S.A is not your country. All it takes is for a Republican party to come to power and make rules that do not favour immigrants. As Africans, we have to see beyond the immediate. |
Horus:Why didn't he follow the evacuation team set up by the Government? Why is he still in Ukraine? |
2016easy2017:Do you know business better than him? |
Schemerkhiz:That goal keeper is a suspect though. Was this thesame goalkeeper in the away game to Cameroon? |
Game over |
Penalty for Senegal. Good Counter. |
How did Senegal get here though? How did they beat Morocco playing like this? |
Schemerkhiz:What do you think about that penalty? I know there was a challenge but some referees may ignore that. |
Penalty |
HedwigesMaduro:It's fake news, they are not relocating. |
2-0 |
aribisala0:Nigerians are funny. |
tungamaje:But Guinness made a huge growth in Nigeria in 2021 comparatively, so should he forget about that too? |
These Senegalese do not deserve to meet us at this stage. They are so scared and they are here with the mindset to defend. Falconets need to do better at crossing from the flanks and at long balls from the back. |
theenchanter:It has been complete for a long time now but for some reason they have delayed the comissioning for use since last year. |
EastisBae:There is Guinness Ghana which is different from Guiness Nigeria. So how can the headquarters of Guinness Nigeria be moved to Ghana? Guinness have been in Ghana since 1960. Guinness also made bigger profit relatively in Nigeria in 2021, so why would they move? |
Fake News |
New Lagos Airport terminal. Likely to be opened this month.
|
Schemerkhiz:She has always been good even from the youth category but overlooked. |
OChimex:Okay let's be more practical here. Put yourself in the shoes of the Government who has maximum 8 years to be in power. There are no good roads, electric power is nothing to write home about, no rails to effectively transport cargoes, airports are embarrassing etc. On the other hand, you have a population with many illiterates who lack skills. What do you do? This is what I'll do: Training people would take years and so that's a long term goal, so I would set up structures for such trainings as much as I can, but in my 8 years I can't leave the infrastructure dilapidated. I would focus on infrastructure because: 1) When completed, the rails would create jobs in future for my people. The need to learn rail maintenance would arise and people would be employed as trainees. 2) I would focus on boosting electric power before training people because power would revive a lot of businesses including small scale businesses which would create jobs for poor people. 3) I would build roads and bridges to connect rural areas because all these would eventually bring development. 4) I would build things like the AKK gas pipeline. Now imagine if Jonathan or Obasanjo built such things on time, we would be supplying gas to Europe today. 5) I would build the ports because part of the reason for the delay in Dangote refinery today and the increase in costs is because there were no deep ports to convey large Equipments and there was very poor infrastructure on ground. No existing Subsea gas pipeline or connecting rails, in addition no power for the industrial facilities. Now such projects (the Dangote refinery) wouldn't take so much time in a country like South Africa. No matter how you look at it, infrastructure reigns supreme. It is primary and number one, then investments in vocational training is number two. Private sectors on ground can also invest in vocational training. Government already made tertiary education cheap and this is why we have so many doctors sought out by the West and Saudi Arabia, but what have we benefited? We haven't benefited much because we did not also invest in quality Healthcare facilities. We need more Healthcare infrastructures to prevent people from running to India for some complex stuff. In summary, you can't beat infrastructure. As the biggest economy in Africa, it is a shame to me that our infrastructure is not yet where it should be. Rather than focus on mirage vocational training (which can be done by the side and in several ways), Government must start with building what we don't have and putting things on ground first such as pipeborne water, good roads, rails, ports, bridges, flyovers, and electricity. When these things are on ground, the educated people we have would make use of them and have room to employ new interns or educate more people in turn. Note that we already have many educated people in UK, U.S, and Germany, who more than anything else may be inspired to think of establishing stuff in Naija when the infrastructures are already in place. |
OChimex:So how do we go about the human development? Isn't infrastructure a great part of human development? If good roads and power are on ground for everyone, it makes life easier not just for the poor but for investors. When Investors invest, the people get jobs, or what is your idea of human empowerment? Is it to share the money? |
Bifwoli:Who is talking about projections? How do projections automatically equate to reality. |
Wahala |
theenchanter:Nor mind the guy ![]() |
kikuyu1:True. However, we can agree that Nigeria is no longer the country with the largest poor population according to these sources you guys love to quote. |
ThierryJay:I don't know how some people on this thread reason looking at the comments above yours, rather than discuss the topic, they are deviating with the tribal nonsense again. |
Kazikazi:Zimbabwe is no shithole though by African standards, and when you consider their history and what they suffered from the West, they ain't that bad in my opinion. |
Fortune118005:Why so interested in their personal life? Some are married, some are not. Most of us here are just here to enjoy the game, the way we enjoy female basketball and females who play other sports. Their marriage or personal lives are not predominant discussions here. During pregnancy, it's rare to find them playing although some do play, e.g the Nigerian goalkeeper at the Olympics in early 2000's. Your third question I believe, can be easily researched. |
Nigeria Exits International Maritime Bureau's Piracy List As Sao Tome, Others Now Lead Sao Tome and Principe, Gabon , Benin and four other African countries led the sailors kidnap chart of the International Maritime Bureau, IMB, in 2021, an indication that Nigeria may have eliminated the menace of piracy in its waters. In the latest IMB report, a total of 15 crewmen were kidnapped 98 Nautical Miles in Sao Tome Islands on the 23rd of January 2021 as against another 15 sailors Gabon on the eight of February and on the 11th of March, 10 crew members were kidnapped in Benin Republic. Coming in third position is Equatorial Guinea with a total of six kidnapped crewmembers from a container vessel while a second attack on fishing vessel also took place in Benin on the 31st of May and six crewmen were also kidnapped in the process. A breakdown of the figure shows that a total of three fishing vessels, two container vessels and a chemical tanker were also attacked. Nigeria recorded no kidnapping incidents in 2021 with the total number of incidents in its waters dropping more than 80 per cent compared to 2020. Luanda Anchorage, Angola, and Conakry Anchorage, Guinea, featured in the IMB Piracy Reporting Centre (PRC) list of "Ports and anchorages with three or more reported incidents in 2021". That trend may be continuing into 2022 as the IMB PRC reported three armed robbery incidents from Luanda Anchorage during the first six weeks of 2022. https://allafrica.com/stories/202203030192.html |
India has surpassed Nigeria as the nation with the highest number of extremely poor people. The World Poverty Clock, WPC, said this in its recent update, considering the COVID-19 pandemic economic effect. The World Poverty Clock is an online tool that monitors the progress against poverty globally and regionally and provides real-time poverty data across countries. According to its data, extremely poor people are those living on N800 per day (less than $2 per day). In 2018, Nigeria held the position with about 87 million people in extreme poverty, compared with India's 73 million. According to the new data, about 83 million Indians have been plunged into extreme poverty in 2022, representing six per cent of the country's population which stands at 1.3 billion. For Nigeria, WPC said 70 million people are living in extreme poverty, representing 33 per cent of Nigeria's over 200 million people. In 2020, the National Bureau of Statistics, NBS, said more than 80 million Nigerians live in extreme poverty (on a dollar per day). https://allafrica.com/stories/202203100153.html |
Shma:Honestly I haven't followed it that much like other projects, so I can't tell. But I trust many Nigerians here would know more about the updates than me. |
