Politics / My Polygamous Father; A Must read for Nigerian Youths by generaliy07(m): 8:20am On May 16, 2015
This is a long but interesting article, written by Idede Oseyande Osesky, Former SUG Secretary, Federal University of Technology, Akure.

Enjoy.

#MY POLYGAMOUS FATHER

I was born into a polygamous family and all my life I have fought through the hurdles of
polygamy.

From the unhealthy competition with my half
brothers and sisters, to the 'security consciousness' due to the fear of expecting
attacks from my step mothers.

We are Africans and we are polygamous from
inception. This made us famous as it provides us with the needed man power for our traditional business- FARMING, FISHING, AND HUNTING!

Now, everyone is giving me a frown because I
said my dad is polygamous. This is because the whites have told us polygamy is bad. I am sure it won't have been an issue if I was talking on this issue in the early 19th century.

Now back to our discussion. My father has not
always had problems with his polygamous
lifestyle. His family was peaceful and they toil the soil to earn a living.

Then there was an invasion! Some white
foreigners came and explore our lands. They then opened our eyes to some regions close to us.

My father, who was once a Bini, was now
christened 'NIGERIAN'. He was happy, he has
been exposed to an emerging new world! A world filled with possibilities, so he thought!

He danced and poured out palm wine, thanking the gods for their blessings and good health.

Little did he know that, his children will bear the brunt of that action!
Need I remind you that the white called it
Amalgamation! It was the birth of a new nation!

......love has been replaced with hate
And with hope for a better Nigeria we still wait.

Youths aren't encouraged to use their brains on social networks, thank God you still use yours

or if only African Engineers bring forth these sort of ideas and market it to the populace including 'leaders' instead of being experts at building roads with no sidewalks grin

I am sorry to say, Our engineers aren't ready for this yet, we can call engineers from Israel or Germany, look how Dubai built their 'wonders'

Oyibo people, always making life easier for them unlike here ordinary waste management is a huge challenge.

Funny enough, we have all the resources, they have little or nothing, they key on our greed and develop their own nations while we sit here fighting over Siera leone diamonds or Niger delta oil, pity.

However, I believe we will rise someday, with Nigeria taking the lead, I'm hopeful!

Ever seen a river pass over a river? The idea
may strike you absurd, but such a thing
truly exists in Germany.

The Magdeburg Water Bridge is said to be
the longest navigable aqueduct in the
world, at 918 meters. While other existing
navigable aqueducts can fit only a few small
boats at a time, this aqueduct–a highway of
aqueducts–can accommodate large cargo
ships at the hundreds.

Built for the transport of goods of eastern
and western Germany, the Magdeburg Water Bridge is mainly a route for large commercial ships from the Elbe-Havel Canal to Mittelland Canal without having to make a cumbersome 12-kilometer detour using the original Elbe River route.

Without the Water Bridge, ships from the Mittelland canal have to descend into the Elbe River through the Rothensee boat lift, sail
downstream of the Elbe, and then climb out
into the Elbe-Havel Canal through the
Niegripp lock (see map below).

The low water levels of the Elbe had often hindered fully-loaded barges from passing this route, thus requiring the time-consuming off-
loading of cargo.

Construction of the aqueduct started as
early as 1930 but came to a halt during
World War II and the Cold War. It was only
after the reunification of Germany that the
construction once again became a priority. Work continued in 1997, and the Magdeburg Water Bridge was finally completed in 2003.

What the Shekau was he doing with 2000 aids in the first place?

Its right time we ask our leaders serious questions, the problem with Nigeria is that we all will be glad to add to the 2000, not minding the effect on the overall development of the state

In a country where recurrent expenditure is 80% while capital is 20, how do you expect meaningful growth? This is not about APC or PDP, if your government does the undesirable, Speak out, ask questions, ASK!!!

IMO, I'll give it to Jagaban

Conceding defeat shouldn't be the only yardstick, anyone can concede, politics is like a game of Chess, and Jagaban has shown himself to be a grandmaster

The Politician of the year (In the real sense of the word "Politics"wink is Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Jagaban of Africa

Has anyone watched the video?

Did anyone else find it hard to see why Igbo leaders would clap after being 'threatened'?

Why would the king allow them to take videos knowing he was going to make such speech?

Could this be planned to gain sympathy votes for the King's cousin, Jimi Agbaje?

I am just thinking, I am not stuupid!

The bottom line of this thread is that, whoever you want to vote for just make sure you vote for the right candidate, don't vote for a candidate just because you want to challenge the oba or so,vote with your conscience,One of the best threads have seen on nairaland, many people need to learn from this but pathetically some people will not just learn...if you vote for the wrong candidate because you feel that is the best way to get back at the oba trust me you will be the one to suffer for it because when you suffer in lagos the oba can travel out from the country anytime he wants and you and your family will be here in lagos suffering, just like the op said what about if the oba and agbaje are playing tricks with the minds of some gullible people??was it not the same oba that claimed he endorsed jonathan and later denied him after he discovered that jonathan might loose the election..

Gbam!, God bless you, you've simplified my message

Please, the Oba of Lagos is not a "First Class Chief" who dash am first class? He is second class.

Well, I don't know, but as far as Lagos is concerned, he's a first class king. Thanks for the correction anyway.
