Ona too sabi blame government, you think going to school, getting a degree or looking for a high pay job is the solution to financial problem? But hell NO. Work hard, there are people with no degree working on some low pay job of 20k - 30k monthly and as time goes by save up to start as little as minimum and with time you see dem getting the bag, you think life is easy. People start from bottom to top and nobody is responsible for anybody. If you have to mix cement, fuckin mix cause the government ain't your family and even your family members gat their personal shit going on too. The most problem with people (1) is fear of failure (2) not wanting to start small.

Nigerians like you are why the country is in the gutters. When there is no electricity, no portable water, no roads, no trains and no security, how do you think businesses will grow and thrive?

Do you think we all need to hustle more to fix roads and buy trains for the country? Get real ogbeni

Too bad.

Even small businesses crumbles as a result of high setup and running costs.

Right now, son of man is stocked !

Not only that, we don't have a judicial system so issues like fraud sink business as they have no legal recourse. We don't have security, so crime sink businesses. We don't have electricity so the extra cost of own and maintaining a generator sink businesses.

I can go on and on

Talk about Lack Of Skills too.

I go online and I see tweets and see how plenty youths Lack Critical Thinking in the things they believe or Jubilate about.

There are jobs every where. Skillset to fill the jobs are not available.

With the level of Japa in the banking Tech industry, you can literarily walk into their IT department and get a job immediately.

Try and acquire skills.

The course u study in school does not matter, If you acquire software development skills, quality assurance, data analysis, business analysis etc and any skills in technology, u will get a job sooner than u expect..

When everyone in a country needs to be around IT to make a living, then the country is broken.

I am a software engineer by the way but you folks should stop these individualist ideas we need systemic changes in Nigeria.

We need to demand good governance, that the little money we have as a country is not looted by the few. We need to stop celebrating people like Obi Cubana, Elumelu, Dangote etc.

Wrong!

They don't teach entrpenuership..

That's like a scam.

Nigerian youths should be encouraged to become entrepreneurs.

Also religious private schools like convenat and Madonna must change their negative academic system to allow their students hustle.

It's obvious such unis are the backbone of unemployment in Nigeria.

You hardly see religious P uni students engaging in entrepreneurship... U hardly see them on social media hustling like their go t uni peers.

The fact that someone is a man of God doesn't mean he is smart or wise..

Or always correct.

Just when I thought I had seen the worst take yet, you come out swinging with 'unis are the backbone of unemployment'

You fake hustlers peddle so much nonsense and give hope to Nigerian youth where there is none.

If your country is poor (which Nigeria is), and lack basic infrastructure like electricity, good road networks, security, and quality education, it's young cannot hustle it to prosperity without the right leaders.

Show me one country that when became rich just because here citizens hustled

1. It's not government job to provide you jobs rather government is supposed to provide enabling environment. Waiting for government is tantamount to failure.

2. Majority of youths in the 20th and upwards generation don't want to learn a trade, go to those during handiwork you rarely see them have work boys the youths don't want to get their hands dirty.

3. Many of us refuse to learn from our parents. My mother owns a shop and I served her 10years I have 10years experience in marketing and human relation, I can sell shit and feaces to anybody from what I have learned.

4. We blame everybody but ourselves, government no give me job, why are my parents poor, my school refused to give me necessary skills etc. Stop complaining go out there and fix ur poblem.

5. Unable to think out of the box. I don't take nonsense from any employer I am ready to resign if the working conditions aren't favourable because I learned 3 trades I can venture into, I can also use my handiwork to make a living.

6. Fear of the unknown. This has incapacitated many people, what if I fail, what if I loose well there is a saying "no risk, no reward" try to take risk and God willing even when you fail you have learned to do better again.

7 certificate. Many graduates think because they went to school they can't do a certain job, because people will.laugh at dem. My first million idea came from paupers who showed me a problem and I decided to abandon my certificates, got dirty and today it's a success story.

8. Not moving with the right crowd. Stop I want to go to unilag, and work with Chevron and start thinking about problems in your society and solution you can provide and cash out from.

There are others, the country is hard and inflation is biting hard, white collar jobs are diminishing but their are opportunities available all around us, find a problem in ur immediate environment and a cost effective solution and cashout.

Posts like this boil my blood. The unemployment rate in Nigeria is at about 29% , it is about 3% in Canada.

Tell me something, you think that young Nigerians don't think outside the box but Canadians can?

As long as we have people like you that don't recognize we have a systemic problem, unemployment will only continue to increase

Sorry how is this lame excuse? What is the cost of putting a child through university in Nigeria? What is the average income in Nigeria?

Given the choice majority of women will not be prostitutes, these have been studied. The evidence is not under debate that poverty drives prostitution

It starts in the home but the first issue is that many people who cannot take care of themselves are raising children in strained circumstances when the truth is they have no business breeding.

By your logic, majority of Nigerians should not have children. Again the nairaland philosophy, do not question the society that has buried majority of her citizens in poverty, blame the impoverished citizens for having children

One of the greatest mysteries I see on nairaland is how people will immediately put blame on individuals (aka the girls) over examining if our society is responsible for this increasing trend.

Over the last 30 years, the cost of studying has sky rocketed , whereas real income adjusted for inflation has fallen. Many of these young girls are from families that can barely make ends meet, hence they resort to prostitution.

Majority of women who are prostitutes are desperate. Overwhelming, it has been studied and proven that poverty drives prostitution

This is sad. sad

This is one of the many reasons why the Lagos State Government impound vehicles and even crush some of them.

I hope people won't blame the government when the the appropriate agencies go hard on these lawless drivers.

The government is 100% to blame. All over Nigeria commercial bus drivers are reckless, many are on drugs and most do no have valid licenses.

In sane climes, not only do commercial bus drivers have licenses, they also need a special type of license to operate a commercial vehicle.

Do get me started on the type of vehicles used for commercial transport in Nigeria, our transport sector is a disgrace and has not changed since the early 70s.

So.yes the government is to be blamed

Such communities abound all over Nigeria from SouthEast to the North (Dem plenty here)!

Even if a global organization sends fund and materials to these poor people, their sons and daughters will divert them before it gets to them!

Nairalander are so childish that they have predictably turned this into their laughable tribal wars. Go to any state in Nigeria and you'll find communities like this

This question is impossible to answer reasonably without more context. For example what do you support in your current position? End user devices, servers, SCADA systems?

If I assume you support end user devices, what os are the running? Windows, Mac, Linux?

So you need to share more about what you do and where you want your career to go

The numbers you are talking about, where did they come?

The so called challenges you referring to, were all others nigerians and contestants immuner from those challenges?

According to you: "Youth are the strength of a nation so if they go against someone and he still won then something unique is about that winner"

So kindly explain how Tinubu won and what is unique about him?

He won because Buhari grew the economy by 300% , reduced unemployment, restored peace and security to all parts of Nigeria, improved our education system and modernized our Healthcare system.

Sometimes when these Tinibu urchins argue, I really baffle at their stupidity.

If Obi had been a loyal party man, along with Kwankwaso, and Wike, APC would have been voted out by a wide margin.

It has happened many times. A divided opposition always loses an election.

APC , as in 2015, was helped into victory by PDP divisions.

Unless Nigerians are stupid, a dead chicken should have defeated APC in theory.

You can't seperate tribalism from Nigerian politics. Have you seen how they voted in the East....APC, PDP and NNPP were not even given a chance.

Looking at the list below, It's easy to tell which region has so far been playing tribal politics.

As far as I am concerned objectively speaking, Nigeria's best chance is Peter Obi. Under any other government the sufferings under Buhari will be child's play.

Since 1999, Nigeria has progressively gotten worse by ever metric. In the next 4 years, Somalia will be a paradise compared to Nigeria, if Tinubu wins. Buhari will look like Barack Obama compared to Tinubu.

Igbo people have completely spoiled Atiku's chances.
