Bankrate, a personal finance company, conducted a survey in January to assess Americans' ability to pay for surprises expenses. The results found only 44 percent of U.S. adults had enough money saved to cover a $1,000, unplanned expense.19 01 2022 You like to argue for arguments sake. Munamoqel: we pay income tax Called payee if you truely ever worked you will know we also pay WHT ,CIT VAT ,stamp duty tax . This are all the tax we pay . And it automated . On Vat alone We collectively pay around 500 bn naira per month . NNPC has not remitted any money to govt so Nigeria is currently run on tax collection . From my 7m I shop in shorpite and pay 7,5 vat tax I also buy airline tickets and pay 10 percent as tax . 7m is 10000 USD =this the silly conversion una they do to feel fulfilled . We have all been here . majority of oyinbo don't have 10000usd in their bank accounts and will take a African Migrant over 1 year of slave labour to save that after expense . Oga you people should stop this cock and bull story. Majority of oyibo don't have 10000 USD in their bank account? How do you know this? Tell me. You people talk all this nonsense about mortgage and loans, you think anybody can go to a bank and get any loan they want. You dont know loans are means tested. When you see someone living in 2m dollar house, they put it in 20% of that money down to begin with which is 400k. Then what ever job they have must be able to cover three times the mortgage payment that is how mortgages are means tested. If you go to any major city in the world the majority of houses there are over 800K , from Melbourne, to Toronto, to New York and even Sydney. Many Nigerian immigrants but houses that are at least 600K. 10% down is 60K which can build a house in most areas in Nigeria. After that down payment most of us pay a mortgage of nearly 3200 every month comfortably because banks will not give you a mortgage you can't pay comfortably. Again keep deceiving yourself but at least don't deceive people. I don't have any issues with y'all saying these things to convince yourself you are better off in Nigeria but you are deceiving other Nigerians I was being generous with the conversion, 7m is not up to 10000usd in the black market where majority of Nigerians buy dollars |

Munamoqel: HiThis a banker dairy .Now washing dead bodies . You call it progress !Hi diary, I have become lazy to type. Little update about what's happening
For the first time in my life, I touched a dead person. I don't even know how I feel but I think I was a bit scared.
I am currently on a night shift in a hospice, that's end of life people. Had checked up on this man around 1 and he was still breathing and 30 minutes later he was gone.
He needed to be washed, dressed and made presentable. He was warm and felt like he was still sleeping. Just that this time, it looked like a deep sleep. The nurse asked if I was alright doing it. I sha tried by best to hide any of my feelings. Omoh! Things I have seen and experienced in this UK journey.
I just wish I can stop this care assistant job permanently but it seems I will still be stuck This washing of dead body is an old wives tale. I have lived in more than 3 western countries. Even when I was at my lowest, working as a laborer I was more fulfilled than when I worked in oil and gas in Nigeria. These I work in top companies and make a lot of money. The most important aspect of living overseas is that I can go to the gym at 3am and not worry about my safety. 1. Not everyone lives in America 2. As dangerous as you think America is it is safer than Nigeria 3. The homicide rate in Nigeria is 34 compared to 4 in USA https://worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/violent-crime-rates-by-countryPlease educate yourself on crime statistics in America |

Travel › Re: Why Do Nigerians Abroad Stay Several Years Without Visiting Home For Once by GeneralShepherd(m): 3:44pm On Sep 14, 2022 |
Oduduwa707: OP, when you use the term 'home', you need to realize their new home is no longer Nigeria but, whichever country they currently reside. So 'home' is where their new immediate family resides.
Some don't have the needed papers to come back to 9ja else, they'll get stuck if they do and, trust me Nigerians won't spare their blushes. They would start making fun of 'em. Yes, you heard right. Majority of Nigerians are not good pple. They're secretly wishing each other the worse yet, we're the most spiritual religious pple on earth.
Some Diasporans can't afford to visit 9ja as it's quite expensive. For example, tix fare from the U.S to 9ja is typically $2K on average. They would also shop for things to bring to 9ja... let's say another $2K, they would also budget for their accommodation, feeding, transportation etc... while in 9ja. And let's not forget how poor the 9ja economy is. They would also want to gift monetarily to families and friends. This doesn't include their own personal and leisure expenses ooo. Some also have various personal projects and stuff. Too much expectations, trust me.
At least $8K budget for a 2-week trip Yes, you heard me right! That's like a month worth of net salary for a mid 6-figure income earner in the U.S.
The level of insecurity is another factor. A Maryland based Nigerian was recently killed upon his relocation to 9ja after several years abroad. Just imagine...
Now, I hope you understand. $8K is if you are single. For a family of 4 you are looking at least $20K. |

The system is designed to make you work your black ass like a slave for someone, get paid with one hand then the government use another hand to collect am. People who go there and make it big with riches they start building mansions back in nigeria are into one shady deal or the other. No let them deceive you, the money no legit. Usually wire wire, BEC, drugs, robbery and all forms of fraud. Nonsense upon Nonsense. Most people here are trying to cope. Let me tell you why many people don't come home. When you are single it is easy logistics wise and relatively cheap to travel. As soon as you have your family, the logistics of visiting Nigeria drastically changes. You might be on leave but your spouse is not or the kids are in school etc. The cost of travelling, as a single person you might spend on average $7000 for a two weeks vacation in Nigeria. With a wife and two children that cost goes up to $20K to visit Nigeria. For me it is cheaper to have my mum visit me than going to Nigeria and spending $20K with a high probability of getting kidnapped |

Life. When a son is scared of going back to his father’s house and will rather prefer to stay and die in a stranger’s apartment.
Have seen this before. Many times. I remember we going to our village in Osun state to pick a family member to stay with us. My parent will train the child, send her to school and after secondary school, they tell the child it is high time you go back home and you will start seeing a child crying, begging not to go back to village. To the child, she is a celebrity when she gets back to village, dresses well, speaks English better than those at home and let’s say more exposed. Now throwing her back to the people that looks up to her will be a disaster to her. I have seen this experience before and I can relate with your situation Lol all these years and I'm still not back in naija |

Running ride hailing apps is not and cannot be the solution to improve our transportation system.
Think about Lagos for example, will more car riding apps help reduce gridlock? Absolutely not. Could more buses help reduce gridlock? Maybe.
However what Lagos needs is more train lines and modern trains to connect the state. That is what will make a last impact on the gridlock on lagos roads.
I don't know how private companies can help in such capital intensive project of building train lines with selling thr country to these individuals.
APC and Buhari should do the bloody job they were elected to do. |
