Munamoqel: Oga you people should stop this cock and bull story. Majority of oyibo don't have 10000 USD in their bank account? How do you know this? Tell me. You people talk all this nonsense about mortgage and loans, you think anybody can go to a bank and get any loan they want. You dont know loans are means tested. When you see someone living in 2m dollar house, they put it in 20% of that money down to begin with which is 400k. Then what ever job they have must be able to cover three times the mortgage payment that is how mortgages are means tested. If you go to any major city in the world the majority of houses there are over 800K , from Melbourne, to Toronto, to New York and even Sydney. Many Nigerian immigrants but houses that are at least 600K. 10% down is 60K which can build a house in most areas in Nigeria. After that down payment most of us pay a mortgage of nearly 3200 every month comfortably because banks will not give you a mortgage you can't pay comfortably. Again keep deceiving yourself but at least don't deceive people. I don't have any issues with y'all saying these things to convince yourself you are better off in Nigeria but you are deceiving other Nigerians I was being generous with the conversion, 7m is not up to 10000usd in the black market where majority of Nigerians buy dollars 1 Like |

Munamoqel: This washing of dead body is an old wives tale. I have lived in more than 3 western countries. Even when I was at my lowest, working as a laborer I was more fulfilled than when I worked in oil and gas in Nigeria. These I work in top companies and make a lot of money. The most important aspect of living overseas is that I can go to the gym at 3am and not worry about my safety. 1. Not everyone lives in America 2. As dangerous as you think America is it is safer than Nigeria 3. The homicide rate in Nigeria is 34 compared to 4 in USA https://worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/violent-crime-rates-by-country Please educate yourself on crime statistics in America 1 Like 1 Share |

Munamoqel: Typical Nigerian we should celebrate that you don't pay taxes. How will the government build schools , roads and other amenities? 7m naira is just about 10000usd , many Nigerians abroad make 10x this amount |

Munamoqel: Keep telling yourself nonsense. The budget of London Ontario is more than Nigeria's total budget. When it comes to money Nigeria is broke and the system is nearly Collapsed. No power, poor education, majority of Nigerians live in abject poverty and insecurity is an all time high. 3 Likes |

Hannania: This might be a myopic take. I don't know how old you are but if you are old enough you will know that economy in western countries have a cyclic pattern. It constantly oscillates between growth and recession, the growth usually lasts 5 to 10 years with about 2 years of recession. We are in the downturn and it will change in one or two years. |

CaptainZubi: Nonsense upon Nonsense. Most people here are trying to cope. Let me tell you why many people don't come home. When you are single it is easy logistics wise and relatively cheap to travel. As soon as you have your family, the logistics of visiting Nigeria drastically changes. You might be on leave but your spouse is not or the kids are in school etc. The cost of travelling, as a single person you might spend on average $7000 for a two weeks vacation in Nigeria. With a wife and two children that cost goes up to $20K to visit Nigeria. For me it is cheaper to have my mum visit me than going to Nigeria and spending $20K with a high probability of getting kidnapped 8 Likes 2 Shares |

Running ride hailing apps is not and cannot be the solution to improve our transportation system. Think about Lagos for example, will more car riding apps help reduce gridlock? Absolutely not. Could more buses help reduce gridlock? Maybe. However what Lagos needs is more train lines and modern trains to connect the state. That is what will make a last impact on the gridlock on lagos roads. I don't know how private companies can help in such capital intensive project of building train lines with selling thr country to these individuals. APC and Buhari should do the bloody job they were elected to do. 13 Likes |

Alusiizizi: People like talking rubbish, no one will pay you the same amount as someone abroad while you are in Nigeria. 1. The reason they are hiring abroad is two fold , for talent and cost reduction. 2. Hiring overseas has its own cost for companies like time difference, engineering culture differences and quality of work. You will earn a lot but not the same. Lastly, the security situation in Nigeria has gotten out of hand and your remote dev job will do nothing to save you from that |
