The National Integrated Power Project Steering Council headed by the Vice-President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, has alleged plans by top civil servants to frustrate Federal Government’s desire to realise 6,000 Megawatts of electricity by December 2009.
A source in the Ministry of Power, who was also in attendance, told our correspondent that the council had directed the Chairman of the Implementation Committee, Dr. Babalola, to deal ruthlessly with any bureaucrat that might attempt to sabotage the generation of 6,000 megawatts of electricity by December 2009

The Federal Government should place ban on the importation of generator. Nigeria is the highest importer of generating sets.

US pop star Madonna has left Malawi on a private jet after failing to adopt a second child from the country.

Last week a Malawian court rejected the adoption over residency rules but the singer's lawyer has said that she will appeal against the ruling.

The 50-year-old singer applied to adopt Chifundo James, whose name translates into English as Mercy, on Monday.

Chifundo is in the same orphanage that previously housed David Banda, Madonna's first adopted child

Some 200 mosques in Islam's holiest city, Mecca, point the wrong way for prayers, reports from Saudi Arabia say.

All mosques have a niche showing the direction of the most sacred Islamic site, the Kaaba, an ancient cube-like building in Mecca's Grand Mosque.

But people looking down from recently built high-rises in Mecca found the niches in many older mosques were not pointing directly towards the Kaaba.

Some worshippers are said to be anxious about the validity of their prayers.

There have been suggestions that laser beams could be used to make an exact measurement.

Tawfik al-Sudairy, Islamic affairs ministry deputy secretary, downplayed the problem in remarks quoted by the pan-Arab newspaper al-Hayat.

"There are no major errors but corrections have been made for some old mosques, thanks to modern techniques," he said.

"In any case, it does not affect the prayers."

We share the same opinion with u my dear. We all have choice to make, God has given us freedom to choose just like the "Narrow Road" or the "Wide Road". The Devil/Satan knows that the only way to heaven is through Jesus Christ. The Conclusion of the whole matter is that, homosexuality and other related issues have no moral values for our society, l don't think it should be encouraged. We cannot blame anybody, society or culture for being a homosexual but yourself. You can make that choice of changing your sexual behaviour or orientation to the one that can suit or have moral and positive value to humanity. Come to think of it, please what are the values, purpose or reasons for choosing a lifestyle of a homosexual or Lesbian?

if No then another excuse is MANY COUPLES TODAY ARE STILL CHILDLESS. A childless couple still have that hope that one day they would have a child but its not applicable to same sex married couples. The only choice for them is to adopt a child.
