bidexiii: Yeah. That's why this type of war is a very difficult and defferent type of game. You can't attack or order a strike on them when they're have mingled with the civilian population in the community. That's why we need those drones, monitor them and keep a close eye on them. Theyll later leave in tranches one after the other to meet at a particular choosen area. Then you can decide on how to prosecute them. The kind of clothes/uniform they wear should be able to tell the army these people are coming enmasse. Humint should be able to do that I guess. |

One thing that constantly keeps me incensed is the ability of these guys to move in large numbers with their al-shabab styled uniforms without any Intel on them. Somehow, there are people incapable of doing there jobs in the upper echelon of the army and that has been transferred to the people in the field. The army needs to up it's game on Intel and sitrep. People coming here to write for or against IPOB, Biafra or Nigeria will not change anything.Out of almost 200 million Nigerians, I doubt if we've 1000 visiting this thread. I see a trend were some people with an agenda come here trying to change opinions or take advantage of our national fault lines to write thrash and spew hatred, goading people to take up arms, meanwhile, they are in the comfort of their homes somewhere abroad. If the shit hits the fan and you ask them to come fight, their reply will only be a contribution of meagre sums of money. My take is simply this: if you think you need war to actualize whatever that you want, please go out and join whatever faction that will serve your purpose, they need more manpower, stop wasting your time here. And a reminder, some people here still use their God given brains, they still use it to think, unbiased. |

DubaiLandLord1: IPOB have been protesting peacefully all this while, the Nigerian military and police will harras, arrest, torture and kill their members for no reason. Where in the world can such a thing be accepted?
Hundreds of IPOB members have been killed extra judiciary before the creation of ESN.
Imagine if Spanish government do unleash soldiers and policemen on cataluyans. Or make a Spanish police chief talk the kin talk wey the daft IGP talk.
The English have more right to hold on to the Scottish people, but they made them have a referendum. They didn't send soldiers and policemen to kill Scottish protesting peacefully.
But for Nigeria, Police and soldiers go unleash hell on peaceful IPOB protesters for no sensible reason. We saw videos and pictures of what happened in Oyigbo.
Kanu don talk say dem go kill his men, his men will also kill security personnel... So make we see who go get the upper hand at the end Cos of the bolded. Fake news. You guys are too gullible. Most of these bandits/fulani herdsmen have no religion. I've heard a fulani man(not a bandit) saying he doesn't have a religion and he isn't a muslim. It's like that with most of them in the bush. Majority of the fulani muslims are the one's living in towns/villages /cities. |

Blueelf: We don;t have SF and I have said it times without number on other threads. Those guys masquerading as SF after 3 - 4 months "rush rush" training are not SF. SF soldiers take at least 6 - 9 months to train (at least because in some countries, it takes 2 years). Besides, our SF are poorly funded (only the NAF tries in this regard) but the NA SF is an eyesore. Guy I tire o. |

Odunayaw: Do you understand what SF or special ops is or you have only pictures of Hollywood and Gucci gear in your mind. Because if you did you would understand the number part.
All you just talked about is Comms availability which in itself there is clear shortage of. It's visible to all. Now, when I talk comms I'm talking about its activities, equipment, techniques, and tactics. Efficiency and security in relaying information up and down the chain of command.
If you think NA has no problem in this regard I must leave you to amuse yourself When I read your reply I just had to have a big lmao. You made the allusion about numbers and I had to ask to be educated but typically your answer was just all about everywhere. No point made. Now it has come from no comms to shortage of it. Gradually we are all getting to the truth. The bolded part is what I had expected us to be talking about, not "NA not having comm equipment". |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Battle Field Discussion (picture/video) Of African Military . by Geronimoe: 2:04pm On Apr 28, 2021 |
Odunayaw: The lack of cohesion and fighting skills of the regular infantry doesn't in anyway dismiss the fact NA has comms issues.
Furthermore, what do you mean "SF are actually not SF". What " normal army unit" takes the fight in small numbers against a superior numbered enemy, does recon etc etc? You mean to tell me what we call SF take the war to the enemy in small numbers? And doing that makes them SF? Lol. Give me an idea of your "small numbers please",I might understand you better. Oga we don't have any comms problems cos I've seen many on vids/pix go out on operations with comms. The Mainok issue that people were talking about lack of comms, how were they able to request for additional forces? How did they request for NAF CAS, and how did they know the requested additional forces were on the way coming, how did they know there was blue on blue and they had to withdraw. Did they use smoke/drum signal or sent the fastest one's amongst them? |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Battle Field Discussion (picture/video) Of African Military . by Geronimoe: 9:06am On Apr 28, 2021 |
I noticed some people talking about lack of comms equipment and other tools for the current regression on the fight against terrorism. The simple reason is the lack of fighting skills amongst the infantry men as a unit e.g squad or a platoon and also lack of discipline. Tactics is no different from what we've used in the civil and at par with what ISWAP is doing. They are even doing it and evolving better than us. What we call SF are actually not SF, they are normal army units just better trained, disciplined and imbibed with normal combat skill sets, fighting as an integral unit. Until they go back to the drawing board and be serious on churning out DISCIPLINED and well trained men then we keep on going in circles. And again I noticed people saying the army is overstretched. What is the size of the NA? How many men are in the NE? How many are deployed in every flash point in Nigeria? We need to make a manpower audit cos some people might be diverting surplus salary. |

What the hell is wrong with the negro At every point of people's /states /nations life's there must be a struggle for there to be an evolution. Me thinks that the problem here is not really about Nigeria but the mindset of it's people first and then the leaders. The agitation for a Biafran homeland is not impossible, but how do you go about it. It's possible with a forceful agitation and at what cost. If there should be a referendum, seeing as how the Nigerian political landscape is, will it be free and fair? Let's also know that their are many Igbo people big or small, rich or poor, educated and uneducated that have invested very much on this project called Nigeria and you expect them to lay down tools and start all over again? Go to Abuja, check all the hotels, plazas, houses and estates, ask about the owners, e go shock you. Go to other states in the North and West, same thing, investments everywhere. Why? Cos they are Nigerians. |

What is wrong with the negro man ? You seem to be a novice or ignorant about the Nigerian political, social and cultural landscape. Because of that I will excuse your diatribe, but for you to ask "what is wrong with the negro man?", you need a re-education, this is not meant to be taken as an insult but an opportunity for self reflection and education about Nigeria and the world at large. Unsurprisingly I see two camps here arguing for or against the "gunmen" in the south east, mostly the Igbo's for (not all) and other people against. There are good reasons for the agitation but the way they are going about it is wrong. If what is happening right now should spiral out of control (God forbid), I pity the people in the south east. There's no assurance that they will be able to achieve what they want but one thing is surely constant in wars, that place will be laid waste and lives will be lost. How do you rebuild? Even on this faceless forum, we are at each others neck, let's calm down for a minute and try to proffer peaceful solutions. Those in support of the deployment of the army and those supporting the activities of the gunmen are in the comfort of their homes with a phone or laptop stoking the embers of war but will be the first to run to the border as refugees (dem no want fight but dey push other people to go die). Finally, an eye for an eye makes everyone blind. |

The "tactical withdrawal", I would've agreed with you if it was a one off thing but it seem to be the Nigerian army language when overwhelmed or defeated. How do you tactically withdraw leaving scarce hardware behind and civilians that have supported you to the mercies of the insurgents. Bureaucracy is in every organisation, even the best militaries, but they are effective. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Battle Field Discussion (picture/video) Of African Military . by Geronimoe: 1:12pm On Mar 04, 2021 |
Whyem15: Most of us in the country don't give a f*ck what happens to the country and how we can influence it for good, we only care about our own personal interests. In short, patriotism really doesn't exist in Nigeria. And the greed and selfishness will be the end of us.
Apart from the above, one shouldn't expect a professional army to be as fluid as militias and terrorist groups etc because of bureaucracy and red tapism and the thousands of other problems that will normally plague an organized sector.
As for the other questions, the reason this war isn't nearly over yet is lack of will. Government isn't really interested as they should be.
And then, I really don't see any reasonable tactical advantage for the terrorists in overrunning military bases and capturing garrisoned towns that they will eventually have to withdraw from because they can't keep it. If I were in the same position as the Brigadier general, and I'm sure the cost of successfully defending the town will be too high, I would retreat in good order too(leaving little to nothing for the terrorists to loot in my Armoury though) and return back when the terrorists are done burning buildings and have withdrawn. Tactically, there is really no sense in fighting every battle, there are some you withdraw from so that you can have the upper edge in other unavoidable ones. What exactly did ISWAP achieve tactically with those attacks? Yes, they resupplied themselves and all but it the airforce will destroy some of the caches later.
The major objective of the two terrorists groups in Nigeria is to establish caliphates that they will govern and rule themselves, with the hope of expanding with time. The military has denied them that at least for now, what the terrorists are doing currently are sting attacks to let the world know they are still very capable and are still existing and also for their survival. What should be concerning here is that the military heirachy seems to be contented with denying them that alone which shouldn't be. Their primary objective alongside other governmental organizations should be ensuring absolute peace and stability. A professional army should be able to adapt and adopt new doctrines and equipment. After so many years I believe we shouldn't be talking about this. Unconventional or irregular warfare. We have to stop pretending that we will find adversaries that play by "conventions" or are in any way "regular." It's just warfare and there may be varying scales of intensity, but we need to adjust the mindset, be fluid and adapt, that what makes militaries prevail in battle. |

@SamuelAnyawu, houses are not only being built in Abuja, Kaduna and Lagos alone, they are doing it in Anambra, Imo, Rivers and many more states. The ruling class are from every part of Nigeria, their language is to divide, rule and steal. @Wheym15, why do you think the military is not fluid in it's tactics? Why are we most times on the defensive or "tactically withdrawing" and attacking after the damage has been done? What is the problem, absence of good leadership, training or equipment? |

SamuelAnyawu: You’ve said it all.
I’m still wondering how Bokoharam with Hilux guntrucks are overrunning Military bases with Battle Tanks, Artillery, APCs. K9 To be candid something is definitely wrong somewhere.
Where do ISWAP return to after withdrawing from attacks. Do we have aircrafts that watches from the sky? Borno is a flat land and these guys move to their bases freely?
We are not ready to tell ourselves the truth.
Well even when you ask such questions here, many paddies will rather come for your head than allow these questions sink in their minds.
Well Houses must be built in Abuja, Kaduna or Lagos at the expense of our patriot lives. Poverty full ground Depot go still Dey full In Nigeria we keep quiet instead of asking the authority questions and demanding answers. The irony of it all is that the ones that were able to demand for good stewardship from the govt and for the military were silenced using the military. I understand that an enlisted has to obey an order, even a wrong order but what happens if he doesn't? Nigerians leave him to his fate, social media and keyboard warriors praise him to high heavens but don't do anything when court martialled and unjustly imprisoned. The problem with Nigeria is a peculiar one, it's not the absence of good leadership (most of them are educated and know the right thing to do but they know they will get away with every impunity) but a followership that is bad, docile and divided within these fault lines of religion, nepotism and tribalism. The ones that are raising up their voices are stifled and termed as paid opposition. Truth be told the Nigerian soldier is not cowardly, most of them in the North East have seen death and faced death eyeball to eyeball but the Nigerian people and Govt have failed them. |
