OnyeObowo1: , I will talk to them.. I don send data and urgent 2k to them tire.. Me too na Uber I de do with my car, am 40 too but never marry yet.. but this year I will try I pray may God help me
Sorry, but that's not sustainable. Find something that's high demand, come together to start a registered company and plough resources to achieve the supply to patrons and consumers. Share the profits. They should be focused on their livelihoods rather than marriage. Another is acting as real estate and business managers for their friends who live abroad.
OnyeObowo1: They are both graduate no jobs, and business they embark on is not moving well, few of them doing Uber, their partner sold the cars
Thanks for the response. Well, to be honest, it's better they remain single and do not have children.
Nevertheless, a way to improve their economic position is by partnering together to provide services that are in high demand. Our people should look more into partnerships than the one-man-army way of doing things.
judecares1: Good evening. If you read my two or three comments above,I mentioned that if he is already in Japan it could have been nice to register for the free language courses organised by prefectures and i never mentioned that they offer visa sponsorship. Yes i agree with you with the language school as the easiest way to come into Japan but the question which I asked him,can he sustain himself in Japan pending when he gets the part time job and will the part time job be enough to pay for his school fees, accommodation, transportation and other personal expenses?
For the bold, if the person works part-time in warehousing and lives outside the Tokyo and surrounding areas, the person can sustain himself on it. But to send money to Nigeria go hard. Whether asylum seekers will be allowed to work in such places or offered similar perks as those with legal status is unknown.
OnyeObowo1: Come my area, guys up to 40yrs and above hardly get married due to the hardship U will think maybe they are lazy but Bro.. It's not easy to start a family in this tinibu government..
That man will never end well..
What do they do for a living? How do they pay their bills?
judecares1: Coming via scholarship or direct employment. Education in Japan is expensive 🫰 that's how i see it compared to European countries.
A registered Japanese Language school is actually one of the major routes to legally enter Japan. Those free language studies aren't realistic or feasible in learning Japanese and don't offer a resident permit. Japanese language schools offer COE to successfully admitted students and have a strong network for part time jobs. Those at the free language centres by prefectures already have resident permits (I enrolled in one as a student). Language schools don't accept foreigners with a resident permit unless permanent residency, spousal visa or long term residents.
The issue with language schools in admitting foreigners especially non-East Asians would be age. Cameroonians have it better as there's a Japanese language school there and some of them move here after passing N3. But for a tyro, e go hard. So if one is below say 27 years, then the chances of being admitted by a language school is high. Above 30 and without at least N3, e go hard.
nedekid: Yes it will go up, the cost of production and wahala to produce in Nigeria does not make sense. It pays more as a manufacturer to sell your machines, use the money to go and import from China then use your factory space as storage. People do not know how much apc and buhari injured the economy and then how the current charlatans in power finally came to destroy, kill it. Which factory can operate and break even not to talk of making profit? Even the depot in my area that sold Nbl and Guinness beverages, a place the whole street will be blocked with trailers offloading, trucks and cars of retaikers buying. A place you will stand in line for 1hr to make your purchase, 2 weeks ago I went there, It was desolate, just 3 workers around from over 30 before! The Chinese I once spoke off that opened a nylon factor at my complex running 2 shifts 24/7, I hear are now running 12hrs with skeletal staff. For the first time in history of naija, Nigerian bewerys Ltd made loss! No be juju be dat? Then imagine textile industries, that one just forget about that one it's like that Yoruba proferb of alfa catches fire, you are then asking of his beards.
Wow!
Interesting insights.
The reduction in activities at the depot and the Chinese factory are disheartening. It's really tough running a business in Nigeria sha. As for textiles, we can't compete - that's the truth. Responders mention China - well, scope of the thread - but we've to defeat Bangladesh, Vietnam and India first before China.
No country can defeat China in manufacturing. That's the bitter truth.
pansophist: JD Vance Reveals That US Economic Policy Has Kept Africa Poor - Why The Sudden Honesty? David Hundeyin
The ascension of China's economical dominance has made them start being truthful.
The Idea was for Africans and the global south to be stucked in the lowest economical ladder, which have the lowest returns, while they are up the highest chamber and control, sanction, and direct everything. China has disrupted that model.
For the Chinese, they made it clear that their destiny is in their hands, not in the hands of some bald, old, potbellied western elites to dictate. And yes, they beefed up their military to fight the imperialist.
Colonialism basically transformed from manual exploitation to a sophisticated system where you cant even see the white man punishing you, because tech has made it possible to lock you from Washington, and bomb you from Pentagon with missles.
One of the reasons I supported a Trump presidency was because his administration will say the harsh truths compared to dem lovey-dovey Democrats. Both parties have similar agendas for Africa(ns), but different approaches. Yes, China has disrupted that model and it pains them so badly that the Chinese cannot be bullied or attacked. This is not Japan that lacks nuclear weaponry or have military bases. Honestly, the rise of China has been an immense blessing to the rest of the world. It is why Malaysia, Vietnam and Indonesia are becoming more vocal and assertive. They have a different market to focus on. Even South Africa, I wager that they are voicing out clearly because they can pivot their economy to the Far East. The world needs that multi-polarity for balance and actual freedom.
It always amuses me to read about Africans who defend the West day in, and day out even with all the information present.
That said, the actions of Western influence have eternally destroyed Libya. Libya which was pretty peaceful and safe is now divided across clans and militias. Meanwhile, Sarkozy and Co are enjoying in Monaco. An entire generation is in ruins.
JimJim10: Plz it that easy to seek asylum in Japan, my agent say I go seek asylum and I will start working, plz how true is this plz
No. To seek asylum, you need to get a visit visa to Japan. If you scroll up, you will see where a Nigerian was returned from the point of entry when he could not properly explain why he wanted to enter the country. Also, I have been told that for a recent business expo, no visa was issued to a Nigerian. Not one! While the president of the organisation could press buttons at the Foreign Ministry for other African countries, they (the foreign ministry) resisted the Nigerian angle and stated applicants should go through the vetting process rather than being assisted. Additionally, asylum laws were lightened last year by the governing party.
Lastly, you don't need an agent to get a visa to enter Japan. Why do you people like using agents to get a visa?
internationalman: And yet you said on the other thread that quality of life is an illusion.
Sorry, but where did I say so? If it was "doing it for the children", then I'm ready to defend that statement. Obviously, on a general basis, quality of life is higher in the abroad than in Nigeria. On an individual basis, it varies.
This is one of my issues with living in Nigeria: oh, you own a nice car but the road infrastructures are horrible. How then do you enjoy driving in your city? Looking at the responses, it means the matter don tey yet no solution.
Nna eh! I wonder what goes in the minds of our so-called educated elites, both in the private and public sectors.
If I write my experiences searching for a partner during the last 5 years, it would be a best-seller. Back to your question, I didn't. She told me she wasn't interested in getting married to an man who hails from the same village as her. However, the real reason was because she was seeing someone (An Aunt found out) and didn't want to divulge that because I was giving her tips per time.
Anyways, last year, she tried to re-connect but I had lost interest. Personally, I'm not so keen on marriage like I was back then anymore.
Thanks
I saw your response on a thread and decided to click on your profile and then saw the thread. I saw my comment and thought of whether the bros don marry or not.
emmaodet: Exactly - Just enjoy your life to the fullest like the way women would do. Follow tour groups to rwanda ffor a week for 1.8m once a year, east africa tour - Uganda, tanzania, kenya for 2m, etc Play golf, tennis, swim, gym, cinema etc You will just be looking fresh and poking ladies without the needed stress of keeping any. There is so much to enjoy for men yet they are eager to run back to marriage after divorce
I think many men haven't learnt to live extended periods alone. Also, men by nature love responsibility or are pressured to take up greater responsibilities especially when they have the financial resources. Most importantly, the best way going forward for men of such a profile (bolded sentences) would be to undergo a vasectomy especially if they have access to the children or have custody of the children. Trust me, many Nigerian women will want to have children for a man with such a profile.
The major problem with many of our men are: - Having too many children than they can take care of. - Shouldering too many responsibilities of both their own families, wife's family and extended families. Too much responsibilities make our men old and have less savings left to enjoy themselves.
True story: My lecturer then and project supervisor had four children from his first wife who died of kidney failure. He remained unmarried for almost a decade and later remarried as he took up a senior position in his church. Expectedly, the lady (a student then) will want to have a child of hers. Meanwhile, the same man go dey grumble that taking care of those four children cost him a lot of money, especially as they grew older. He was funding his housing project and drove a Toyota of the 1990s.
RodgersAkpafu: You are playing I repeat You are playing lol
My fourth madam in my unit when I was in the bank those days currently works in Care in Birmingham And btw makes more money collectively with her husband and her now adult daughter (she was still u 16 when they came) than they would have made even at that job
Forget the social. capital and status Tinubu devaluation has rendered professional pay in Nigeria useless
And no. we weren't "contract staff"
That must be so terrible o
Sha, Nigerians campaigned and voted for Buhari in 2015. So, no sympathy whatsoever!
The comments on the first page are interesting and well deserved!
I remember when some of us cried and lamented about the incessant Fulani herdsmen issue even when the affected communities weren't our ancestral lands, but we were labelled "wailing wailers" and IPOB.
tensazangetsu20: To be honest, I used to be angry at female Hypergamy especially as a young man but with time I don’t really blame women anymore. One of my neighbors wife in Nigeria passed on recently and this woman was a very good woman. She lived in very pitiful conditions all her life till she died. This was a woman that came from a middle class family at least by Nigerian standards in the 70s and 80s but married a poor man for love. The man never made it unfortunately and they were always suffering. Her siblings resented her for marrying the husband and ultimately resented the husband. It wasn’t even up to 4 months after this woman died that her husband started posting another woman’s picture on his WhatsApp status. The same man also has refused taking up responsibility for his children. Doesn’t give them food or money so they have resorted to stealing and becoming a nuisance. Honestly, I don’t blame women for being hypergamous. Everyone should do what’s best for them. There’s no reward for who suffer pass and most times suffering doesn’t mean that God is preparing you for anything. You can suffer for a long time till death and absolutely nothing will happen.
Na true Tightpussy and you talk. I really don't blame our female contemporaries for being hypergamous. Country hard! Moreover, their hypergamy is global. So it's not a Nigerian thing. It happens everywhere. I think a lot of young Nigerian men especially on social media are really ignorant on how other women behave when they compare them to our women. That said, they (young ladies) shouldn't belittle the hard work efforts by their male contemporaries. It takes a lot of grit, hard work and perseverance to succeed as a young man in Nigeria, especially without parental assistance and financial support.
My own be say, make people born fewer children rather than repeat their parents' mistakes.
Gerrard59: While it's possible to earn #750K in Abuja, it's rare to earn same in Calabar. A place where the economy is in doldrums? Who will pay you 750K?
Regarding the thread and general relocation, I believe people should comment only when necessary especially in a thread like this which is private. Yes, we know Nairaland is open for all to view, comment and share. But trying to argue that Canada is better than Nigeria or telling folks willing to relocate not to is ludicrous. Till thy kingdom comes, Canada is BETTER in every ramification than Nigeria. Folks should even be happy people are resigning their well-paid jobs. Invariably, this frees up space for the next set of smart individuals who will later relocate.
Moreover, it's not only Nigerians that are relocating to developed countries. Citizens of China (residents of Hong Kong), South Korea and Singapore are doing same and these are well-off nations. How much more Nigerians?
Mbok, anyone who desires to relocate has the prerogative to do so as long as it's legal.
OP, ride on, I dey your back like hunchback.
In less than a decade, Canada has drastically changed.
Chai! Such is life! :[ politics is very important o
Foolish man just as the remainder of Rivers political elites. Largely unintelligent and cannot harness the potentials of the state to enable it grow and compete head-on with Lagos.
Tightpussy2024: You are punishing your virtuous wife for the sins of other women that ignored you. Later you and panso.phist will be demanding virtue from women.
With the way it is,you will have HIV soon your money. Because this is the only reason people obviously respect you.
I am genuinely curious, what do you say about men whose wives refuse them sex and men who desire to have sexual intercourses with different women just for biology's sake? You know, this thing is hormonal. No be men's fault in its entirety.
Mcslize: Pansop.hist and Gerra.rd59 will never agree with you on these. Nigeria is their heaven on earth whereas they ran out of Nigeria and don't know the plight of the common man. Very hypocriticál human beings.
I can only speak for myself. With my experiences so far in the abroad, my advice is that no one should leave Nigeria illegally; to a God-forsaken country; leave without acquiring relevant skills; without learning the language of the new country (if non-English speaking) etc.
Life is hard everywhere and is far more brutal in a place where you have no social safety net or your village to run to.
