Unlimitedlucky: Sir Gerrard Thank you for your support and kind words. You guys swift reply to my drawing board questions has increased my motivation to move the more. I really appreciate it.
Briefly Sir, blackbriar and Gerrard I noticed something different on the style of applications for the Japanese university, seems to be different, say for instance I was researching the universities, I don't see where one can apply either on-site or via portal, could be more light and helpful for me if you guru's highlight on this please 🥺 You contact the professor who covers an area of research you are interested in. If una agree, he tells you to formally apply. Without his approval, it's difficult as you won't have a research lab to work/study in. Master degrees in Japan, especially in science and technology, are largely research based than taught based. It's similar to the US and unlike the UK. |

Unlimitedlucky: Thank you for your cent Sir blackbriar. The side of side hustle is partly settled, please are you aware of the POF account required. Must the money be in my account as a M.sc student, or use my sponsors. Your efforts is much appreciated 🙏🏿 I initially thought the aspect of side hustle was a business, say container business. But if it's part time jobs, there are a thousand and one of such jobs. If you want higher wages, do warehouse jobs. But it's physically tasking. But you will out-earn almost every African scholarship student per month. I know someone who did it to pay part of his tuition fees alongside tuition waivers. |

She had everything here already but as per nag japa dry reign now. Her saving grace is that her husband has plenty businesses and investments that are flourishing here. People are just brainwashed! She's lucky and the man is luckier his businesses are still present and flourishing. If she went via Express Entry, it makes sense. You will likely not get a visa to those Eastern European countries due to their tight immigration policies. Check their Nairaland threads for more details. Netherlands is good provided you have the right skills needed by the economy and you learn Dutch. As a Black African, Belgium sounds like Kogi to me anytime I come across the name. |

He was the first to join carework while I was doing factory work as a student. Baba still dey nhs dey do support. His yearly pay in Nigeria is not up to what he makes in two weeks If he was truly an assistant branch manager, then he's mad for relocating to the UK to work in care. The talk about his yearly earnings are baseless since his expenses are in pounds. He earns in pounds and spends in pounds. His STANDARD OF LIVING was way higher in Nigeria as an ASSISTANT BRANCH MANAGER not as a SUPPORT CARE WORKER. |

If I talk, it will look as if I'm an APC member or supporter. But unless you come from a wealthy home or have a thriving business, you have no business with a property of 1.2 million naira per annum as a corp member. Most times, PPAs provide subsidised or free housing. I got that when I served - free accommodation. |

Unlimitedlucky: Yes, on site, from my research, I read somehow that one will be issued resident permit at the Poe, won't that be enough to do No, you are not allowed to run a business on a student permit. It is resident but tied to your student purposes. For instance, you cannot open a corporate bank account to run a business on that permit or even with the standard work permit (Humanities/Engineer/Intl Services). You need the minimum of a permanent resident or spousal visa. That is why you need to pair with someone who is of that status. Online jobs might be different, but recruiters always ask "what is your residency status?" "Do you need visa renewal later in the future?" Such kind of questions. Although some recruiters might overlook, the earnings will be very low compared to if one has PR. My friend got such a contract as a student, but previously lost a bigger one because he was on a student visa. |

pansophist: 1. Since this is a geopolitical thread, then I will advice reading ''the confession of an economic hitman'' by John Perkins.
its o
2. You can also read about ''DEAD AID'' by Dambisa Moyo. The book was so revealing of western debt trap that Bill Gate had to attack the writer. This book is also very good.
3. Also, read ''The Grand Chessboard'' by ''Zbigniew Brzezinski'', to understand how the world works in realtime, and why the attack on Eurasia (China and Russia). Ukraine is just a card in the whole game to actualise the goal of the so called ''end of history''. where western hegemony will reign supreme, on earth, permanently.
All parts of the world have been conquered, except Russia and China.
4. Also read the book by the first Ghanian president titled ''Neocolonialism, the last stage of imperialism''. The book was so eye opening that the US cancelled its aids to Ghana as a form of protest. For Gates to criticise Moyo, who is an elite Western-trained professional because of aids, says a lot. I will read his criticism sha, but aid does not lead to development. Also, the kind of "aid" assistance South Korea got from the US is different from the aid we as Africans get from the West. For the Ghanaian aspect, it was revealed or unpacked recently that the British government or CIA had a hand in the destruction of his presidency. |

Eriokanmi: They invested in hell . Ask those millionaires of yesterday, driving company directirs who are old enough to be their children today. Some are gatemen in lagos today. I spotted one recently who used to be a director at Standard Breweries in Ibadan in the 90s, the Breweries belonging to Bode Akindele known for the popular Club Beer in that era. He was such a young and promising production manager and the only black man in the group. Standard Breweries shut down operations and he joined another company where he was promoted a director in lagos.
All these happened in the 90s. He always carried women in his Peugeot 504 GL brand new car. Today, he's a gateman at banana island. Even the gateman s job was sourced for him by his old friend who's a multi billionaire today. When we say run away from lust for women, e get why. And you think the multi-billionaire friend does not spend on women as well? Every wealthy man spends on women in one form or the other. It is financial mismanagement and lack of consistent cash flow. Maybe he had too many children as well. |

But even at that and your wife working just 2 days and you working 4 days, you said you guys can still save 500pounds, that is 1million naira, Tife work minimum wage(which means there is room for growth if you upskill with time), you work 4 days a week, your wife works 2 days a week and you guys are still sending 300 thousand naira home every month and saving 500pounds(approx 1m naira) every month. Now let's not even convert to Naira, una fit save 6k pounds per year, while working 54 hours a week(between u and your wife)...if that is not good enough, please tell us what u guys were doing and earning in nigeria before u left If you read a thread of his that entered the Front Page, he made mention of owning properties and a thriving business in Nigeria. Although the children goes to good schools that's a compensation as they quickly learn their ascent Sorry, but that is a subjective phrase. You have to compare the quality of schools in Nigeria vs the UK. It is not all state schools in the UK that are of high quality. The major advantage of the UK will be if the chances of getting into a top-rated university in the UK are high enough. Else, one's child fit later land up for Greenwich University or the University of Plymouth. All these nonsense many experience is largely because of the incompetent Buhari who most of these people campaigned and voted for in 2015. So, no pity whatsoever! |

SIRTee15: No matter what people say about UK, this is an area I will give it kudos. The opportunity is open and accessible for future generations be it black, Indian or white and it's the same. I've met British Nigerians in high top level jobs like gold exchange, oil trading companies, investment banks etc. tech is even becoming norm for minorities. Kemi Badenoch was in tech for a long time b4 she went into politics. This was when tech was just new and people rarely understood the opportunity in the sector. Lots of Nigerians now own up to 5-10 properties including residential, nursing homes, commercial properties. Home care is now becoming a regular turf for our naija people and it's crazily lucrative if U have good management and organisational skills.
Look out for british Indians in the future, they will be the ones running that country. They now have their own rich elite neighbourhood. Europe is a different ball game entirely. Quality of life may be better than UK but they just want U to stay at home and be having kids while they pay U or U working some semi- skilled Job with average pay. That's why most times, blacks in Europe end up moving to UK. It's just a pity UK had been mismanaged by recent shortsighted politicians, careless mass immigration, bad policies, impact of unrestricted globalization, and Brexit. That country offers great opportunity. Unfortunately, it's on its way to become the next 1st world country to become 2nd world. UK is a case of what useless politicians cannot destroy doesn't exist. Canada is next on the block unless they retrace their downward self destructive movement. Generally, Anglophone countries are the best for immigrants, especially black immigrants. However, their openness is being taken advantage of. Na why I dey laugh new age immigrants who keep supporting illegal migration. When the Anglophone natives are sick and tired of this, they (immigrants) will learn deep lessons. Another country I am yet to read stellar black professionals is the Netherlands, even with its long history of Black immigrants from Suriname. |

If na you sef, after selling everything to relocate and start over in Youkay, shey you go com relocate back to Nigeria to start all over yet again? No way! Most just defer to 'better quality of life' and 'my children's future are secured' as consolation. Only problem is that is factually nonsense, cos quality of life is subjective and children that will be yamayama from poor upbringing will still be yamayama regardless of location, or worse still, more likely to happen sef due to location, both ways...case in point gangs and knife wielding maniacs in peckham, mostly of African/Nigerian descent or the yahhoboiz/cultists/oloshos in naija Yes, the "doing it for my children" is absolute nonsense unless the person gets a good job in the abroad. The only country I can accept such is the US and maybe Canada due to its proximity. Elsewhere, the chances aren't that good. UK even try sef. Countries like Spain, Northern Europe and elsewhere are dead ends for second-generation black people. Look at France? Apart from Tidjane Thiam, I am to yet to read about any stellar black person who went through the system compared to the US. Another unfortunate one is Belgium! In Naija a lot of people live in their parent's home and no need to heat the house in Naija but when you get to the UK or other developed countries three is no free accommodation and they have to face reality in a developed countries. What I mean is: someone did MSc Business Analytics at a university in the UK. Unfortunately, due to visa issues and fierce competition, s/he cannot get a job in the industry or sister-industries or role aligned to Business Analytics. My question is: isn't it better for the person to apply to jobs in Nigeria that require someone with such skills and degree rather than settle for care jobs in the UK? |

OkanlawonB: What makes UK japa costly is the exorbitant school fees when going through the school routes.
There are a number of countries on mainland Europe where you spend like 8M naira that will cover all costs including one way flight ticket, accommodation for about 4 months, School Fees ( highly subsidized) and miscellaneous expenses. Within 4 months you will surely have settled in, this still makes economic sense. The best form of japa is to get a scholarship while in that country and/or get a job directly from an employer in the country. Using school route, especially with the exchange rate and at schools with funny looking names, is a bad gamble. Those European countries come with language challenges. The average Nigerian cannot speak fluent French even though our neighbours are Françophone. Na Swiss German or Dutch we expect them to grasp? |

fullclub: No am not a student. Like i mentioned i worked morr than 20hrs per week this showed am not a student. A full time worker.
Secondly how much do you think a full time worker should earn? 20 pounds per hour? Well most job pays you based on several factors but but be you a student or a full tile worker u shouldn't earn less than the minimum wage.
Most qualified nurses earn little above this minimum wage. Those in construction, building plumbing, carpentry, woodwork earn way higher because of their skills. Dentist and doctors will earn higher those are high in demand job.
But we that are in care sector, security, warehouses, kitchen porter even qualified nurse etc earn little above minimum wage and the difference is not that much.
I was once working in a place they paid 14.5 per hour but i can't stand 12hrs straight with 30 minutes break in between that's not the quality of life i came here for. I dont want to age quick
into. I'm genuinely curious, have you thought of applying for jobs in Nigeria? Or what do you think about it?
I'm not surprised nursing doesn't pay that much. It's only in the US and maybe Switzerland (not too sure about this) that nursing is lucrative pre and post-COVID. The hype about nursing jobs in the UK is because of the exchange rate not its actual lucrative-ness. Nursing isn't a lucrative career, period. |

While it's legitimate to criticise the present government, one has to take caution. As it's, her name has been indexed on Google and a search pops up her criticism of the president and his enclave as "smelling". Getting a job would now become tough.
As it's, the world isn't forgiving of people (non-natives) who talk ill of where they live. It's happening in the US and happens elsewhere. |
