This is simply a ploy by the Muslim North to draw the South back, since majority of their people never go to school. They give their daughters aged below 15 in marriage but require Nigerians to wait till 18 before writing WAEC and JAMB. They want to discourage our children from pursuing education. This is an evil and Satanic agenda and must be resisted. If this evil decision stands the consequences are hydraheaded. This will cause millions of teens in the South who graduate from secondary school before 18 to roam the streets for years and you know the implications of that.
Why APC is so devilish is beyond me. Go to other countries and see youths who graduate from University at 17-18years.Here evil APC is saying Nigerians should only write WAEC at 18. Knowing fully well that man y won't make it in one sitting. So potentially many will enter the University at 20 and above and graduate at 30. It's only in a Tinubu Presidency that you hear this sort of wickedness being the focus of a government. Even Buhari wasn't as evil.
Nigerians campaigned and voted for Buhari in 2015, doubled down on it in 2019 and continued in 2023. Nigerians knew what they wanted and they got it.

The country is so predictable! I am glad I ran. It seems to be the best decision I made in my life.

America this, America that. Copying American lifestyle and ideologies etc make u feel progressive? That's Inferiority complex. America is also celebrating Homosexuality, u and Ur children should also accept it, since America and the West are the ones that set the standard for how u should live Ur life.
We Africans should define our own path towards social, educational and economic progress. We don't have to depend on the Western world to dictate to us. Copy copy dey lead to "see finish" Ooo.
The best thing is to copy the good things and discard the bad ones. So, yes, the poster you quoted is correct. The Chinese also do the same. Has China legalised homosexual marriages? How does allowing children to write WASSCE equate to the Western world dictating to us?

This policy is a stupid one because WAEC and NECO exams are not only for JAMB and admission to universities. Make 18 the minimum age for JAMB and admissions, but not for WAEC and NECO exams.

If you like, write WAEC and NECO exams at the age of 14. Use the next 4 years to learn trades, basic computing, tailoring, painting or any other skill. This will shape your career and help you to make wise decisions when choosing a program to do in university at the age of 18.

One other thing that should be made illegal in this case is sending kids that are below the age of 3 to school.
Another good point. As it is, better to prepare for the SAT between 15 - 18 and hustle for scholarships than wait for wait till 18 before writing WASSCE.

A terrible policy that leaves no room for exceptionally brilliant folks. Also, the prevalence of strike actions can elongate the years one spends in school. Looking at it, many upper middle class students won't study at Nigerian universities any longer. Middle class families who aspire to send their children to private universities are also affected. This is the result of leaving governance to very unintelligent people. Funny enough, except for a few, many Nigerian politicians' children don't study in Nigeria for their first degrees.

Nigerians aren't the first to emigrate. The Chinese have been doing so for centuries and were even the first to be banned from entering the US. The Japanese also emigrated during the early 20th century. Koreans have been emigrating and are in the top ten of Express Entry applicants to Canada. As I write, Indians are a major immigrant population in Australia. Moreover, Chinese (Mainland and Singaporean) and Vietnamese are other major immigrant groups in the same country. Within Nigeria, people leave their various states for economic hubs such as Lagos, Abuja, and Harcourt.

Migration is part of life.

LOVEALAIGBO:
Africa is the pawn in the power-play chess game between China and the US! China has the edge in that they’re prepared to close their eyes to any human rights violations and issues of kwarruption emanating from the African countries they seek to do business with! They also have the edge in that these African countries are quick to accept any conditionalities placed on the loans China gives!
It is why Africa(ns) should be good at negotiations to get the best. As I write, the US government has backed the construction of rail lines linking Zambia to Angola. However, this is because the Chinese revived rail lines they built in Tanzania during the '70s. Unlike the Chinese who have built processing facilities across Namibia and Zimbabwe, the US company involved in the Zambian mine - KuBold Metals - is not processing the ores in Zambia, but exporting raw materials to Europe, the US and Canada.

So, which is better, the one who exports raw materials or the one who processes it before export?

Chinese people hate African people with a passion but love the African continent because of its mineral and natural resources which China hopes to plunder with impunity, using the leverage of white elephant construction projects and extortionate loans given out to African governments with the full expectation that those loans will NOT be refunded, thereby allowing the Chinese to legally GRAB African resources, since all Chinese loans call for asset seizure in the even of loan repayment defaults by African governments.
I have been wanting to reply to some of your tirade against the Chinese and their investments in Africa, but never had the time. Thankfully, I do this time.

A reply to someone else with similar concerns:

Gerrard59:
You will accuse me of whataboutery, but the West has committed more heinous human atrocities in Africa than the Chinese will ever do. The precursor to the Holocaust was conducted in Namibia by the Germans, not the Chinese. What about the plundering of resources in the DRC and the dehumanisation of Congolese by Belgians? Congolese were shipped off to Brussels and placed in museums for then European children to see, most of whom are in their fifties and sixties today.

This is an East Asian culture, which I must say has been the backbone of their relentless economic success within a short period. From Japan to Taiwan, East Asians work very hard and tirelessly. Unsurprisingly, they have prospered not just economically, but academically as well as socially. As Africans, our sole interest should be to prosper at all odds and if it requires working long hours without rest, so be it. In this century, we have no business whatsoever with work-life balance or remote work or rest, the only thing we have is how to be prosperous. East Asians and now Southeast Asians have shown us that we can be prosperous by working tirelessly, saving and having delayed gratification. We don't have an option other than that. Or do you like poverty? You think Europeans, who plundered Africa anyway, did not work tirelessly as well? The fact that their children have a surfeit of holidays and preach work-life balance does not mean we, Africans, who are starting should copy them. We don't have that option. Building is always hard. We better build, or else our children will suffer for it. Time no dey again.

To show you a typical example of East Asian work ethic. Go search about the semiconductor factories TSMC announced to build in the US and Japan. The US project was announced before the one in Japan. However, the company (TSMC) encountered cultural differences in the US as they (Americans) could not work long hours as is done in Taiwan. The company had to fly in Taiwanese engineers (check the distance from Taipei to Arizona) to work on the construction. In fact, the CEO and founder of TSMC said the project will be delayed because of cultural issues, rather than funding. However, within that period, the company completed the project in Japan and as I write commenced the second plant in another part of the country. The project in the US which was slated to be completed in 2026 has been shifted to 2028. Meanwhile, the second plant in Japan is billed to be done in 2026. Apart from distance, cultural similarities between Taiwanese and Japanese were the reason why the Japanese project was completed even before schedule. Westerners who have worked with the Chinese have confessed that they cannot compete with East Asians in engineering, construction and manufacturing.

As Africans, we have to compete with the likes of India, Bangladesh, Vietnam and Malaysia for FDI. Na this swegbe and siddon-look attitude we wan use compete with these people? The unemployment rate will be catastrophic. The effects will be televised!

The fault is entirely on the governments and indigenes in the area, not the Chinese. The Chinese are not working alone. Fellow Nigerians made it possible. If you have a loophole, expect outsiders to exploit it. That is basic human greed. No one is altruistic, not even one's parents. Human beings are selfish. You need to understand this. Nevertheless, the Chinese and to an extent Indians and Canadians (just one investment anyway) are the major investors in Nigeria's mining industry. Chinese mining companies have invested over $500 million into processing facilities across the country. I am not a Tinubu fan, but I must commend his mining minister - Dele Alake - who has been at the forefront of ensuring the mines are well mined and ores processed before eventual export.

The same Chinese are being attracted by Namibian, Zimbabwean and Indonesian governments to invest in mining and processing facilities. Chinese investors ARE THE ONLY WILLING investors who do this. Western investors are not interested in mining projects across the developing world, only the Chinese are. So, I ask, do you want jobs and prosperity or lovey-dovey? Please choose one.

That act is condemnable. The good thing is that the Chinese take corrections. To be honest, though, the Chinese like to keep to themselves. The good thing however is that compared to other groups of migrants, they don't seek to impose their cultural norms on others. It is why in countries/cities/counties with high Chinese immigration, the crime rates are low and social truancy is almost non-existent. Trust me, as much as the West don't like the Chinese because of economic competition, they prefer Chinese migrants considering how immigration issues are brewing there.

This is a lie that has gone too far. Let me write about Nigeria, we owe the most to China as a country. However, we owe less than 4% of our total debt to the Chinese. We owe the World Bank and IMF - Western-controlled institutions - more than we owe the Chinese.
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2019-08-06/nigeria-owes-more-money-to-china-than-any-other-country-chart (subscription needed) However, https://archive.md/PqOfN (free-to-read) Bloomberg is a western media organisation.

For the likes of Zambia and Kenya, they misused their loans and unlike the IMF & World Bank, they called for restructuring with Chinese lenders, which they agreed to. The last time Ghana sought a loan from the IMF, the institution threatened that it must accept the LGTV laws. Uganda was denied loans by the World Bank for the same eligibility issue. Which do you prefer, a pen!s in your yansh or a loan to build a road to major economic zones? Also, the Chinese have reduced their construction projects in Kenya and invested in Southeast Asia.

The Chinese have NOT requested that Zambians or Kenyans speak Chinese before loans are restructured. Moreover, Rwandans can earn $500 per month as Chinese interpreters. I had a roommate then in NYSC who earned 250K per month as a Chinese interpreter in Kaduna. How many people do you know in Nigeria who earn a good living as German interpreters?

More can be read here: https://www.nairaland.com/7801886/multipolarism-versus-hegemonism-great-power
The recent seizure of several aircraft belonging to the Nigerian government that were parked in France is but a foretaste of even more drastic asset seizures faced by African countries right in their own territorial borders because they dared to default on Chinese loans.
How is it the Chinese investors' fault that the Ogun state government did not fulfil its part of the agreement? It is not like the investors called for the booting out of Ogun state or it has stopped other Chiense investors from opening factories across Sagamu and environs. It went to court in London to sue its case and won. Agreement is agreement.

I find it hilarious when so-diasporans in the West don't invest in their home countries but lampoon the Chinese and Indians who do. If you love Nigeria so much, why not invest and live in the country? Why castigate those who took the risks to do the same? You people are no different from rednecks in the West, but at least, those ones are in their countries.

Brazil only has to live out its potential. The country is forking blessed. A true superpower indeed.

And Brazil is so vast, The easternmost point of Brazil is closer to Africa than to its westernmost point. So if you live in the state of Paraiba, you will reach Africa faster than if you travel to the western part of the country (Eg, the state of Acre). Also, almost every square inch of Brazil can be habitable by humans and animals. So if any country is eligible to have billions of people, it is Brazil, and there will still be space left. Most of Brazil's territory is contiguous, so defending it is easy and a stone's throw. If any country has to be a model for multiethnicity and racial harmony, then Brazil is the undisputable champion. Brazil might have lots of crime due to poverty, but they are usually not hate crimes or based on race. If Brazil can have strong leaders, it is capable enough to form a coalition and put a stop to US imperialism in the Americas, instead of leaving the job for tiny countries like Cuba. Like Nigeria is sleeping, Brazil also is, and I hope it wakes up and lives to its full potential. Being part of the BRICS family is a good start.
The US no go gree. That would be synonymous to having another China, this time in its backyard. However, I do agree with its racial "harmony", perceived or actual. This could be attributed to the miscegenation of races over the years. So, unlike the US or South Africa, there have been mixtures of races and no clear-cut segregation based on race, but on class. Although, in some states especially in the south, there exist clear German enclaves by descendants of the Nazis who fled Europe.

Argue with your ancestors!!
Men argued for the bold as women's empowerment and inclusion in the workforce reduced job opportunities for men. Some industries have been feminized such that a male participant will find it hard to get a job in that industry. One is HR. Someone wrote somewhere that his friend was one of the three males who wrote the CIPM exam. Also, as women have entered the workforce and started earning money. The question is: what are they using it for? On one hand, you reduced economic opportunities for young males. On the other hand, you are stingy with the money you earn.

Rights without responsibilities.

The only thing I detest more than moral police officers who engage in petty moral grandstanding online, is ignorant clowns who don't bother to take a closer look in the mirror before spewing their nonsense.

That being said, I have a weird ick for reading sweeping statements which might not be applicable to all individuals. While I support your position, I have an issue with your last statement. I think you might be oversimplifying the complex motivations behind people's attitudes towards sex and relationships by attributing it solely to economic insecurity. Surely there could be other factors at play too.
In a poorer and religiously hypocritical society like Nigeria, poverty is the major issue. The same men don't vehemently and publicly lampoon these women if/when they have the money to adequately patronise their services. It is the lack of means to patronise the services that pains them.

P.S. The average Nigerian man loves sex and will spend anything to just put the head inside.
