MrSamsung:The truth! Knowing how far he came to where he is, I give to him. He is the epitome of determination + perseverance = success. Man has worked so hard and with a bit of luck here and there has succeeded. I am proud of him. Na why I dey loyal to his gofment. My Leader🙌🏿 |
Donpre:I don't if I am mistaken, but the dude in question is a Nigerian and had his first degree (first class) from a top federal university. Also, before moving here, he had three years of cognate experience with a telecoms firm and tech company. |
Shikini:The previous recruitment process was largely meritocratic. The issue with the Nigerian job market is too many people (high population) and low economic growth. Nevertheless, it is not just a Nigerian thing as it happens in China and India. There, the competition is fiercer. No surprise as both nations have large immigrant populations outside their motherlands. |
johnayo01:Why should they? No one cares about Nigeria or Nigerians. That is Nigerians' business. Do you care more about your next door neighbour more than your children and parents? How many times have you cared about people in Zamfara or Adamawa? So, why should the Chinese care about you? In this world, every wo(man) for him/herself. |
It is a Big W. He has worked well with the Chinese, unlike Ruto who complains about China as if the Chinese were the ones who enslaved Kenyans and its neighbours. |
anonimi:Quite a lot, but from interactions so far: - They work very hard - They take full responsibility for their actions - They follow the law, are disciplined and are very orderly. There is a culture of shame, so people try not to bring it to themselves and their families. - Based on the shame factor, there is a great emphasis on trust. So, the society has a strong social trust system. Homogeneity aka cultural similarities also contributes. - Still on the shame factor, people are penalised for their ill-actions. Nothing like Oga abeg. - Great emphasis on mathematics and related disciplines with accepting data even if they don't like the outcome. ...and many more. The similarity I have seen with Africans is that they defer to authority. However, the authorities here have been competent, unlike back home. |
Tightpussy2024:Agreed. This is part of the reason I want to see more prosperous black African women so that they get to choose based on true desires not solely for economic reasons. I have stated here that our women should japa the more so they see the world as there is a lot out there. Also, I have stated that should Nigeria be as rich as Malaysia, many Nigerian women WILL not marry Nigerian men. Lastly, going forward, young Nigerian women should be wise choosers. At the end of the day, each individual makes his/her choice and should bear the fruits of that choice, whether positive or negative. |
Two things are obvious: Nigerians LOVE sex a lot and gamble very hard. Yet they claim to be very religious and godly people. ![]() |
Mrexcell:Nairaland was high pre-TikTok and I think pre-2017. However, there are reasons why it has not maintained its popularity over time. |
MrBrownJay1:I underestimated her o. I hope Donald does not do the same. ![]() |
anonimi:I no understand your post o. If I get you correctly, East Asians don't flex life after working so hard or they should not flex life at all? |
Just to add sha: OP shouldn't emigrate. Emigration would not solve his problem but rather worsen it. What employable skills does he have to provide a similar lifestyle he enjoys now? ![]() You have been offered many thoughtful advice. As for the spiritual aspect, it does exist. But some people wey go say nothing dey happen either do backyard protections or have their parents interceding for them. Dem no go tell you the entire truth. ![]() |
tensazangetsu20:My leader! I am loyal to your gofment 🙌🏿 The bold reminds me of the dude I mentioned to you who works in Kyoto now. Man was inundated with recruiters pestering him for interviews. Until he got vexed one day and deactivated his LinkedIn profile because according to him "the connection requests and messages were so plenty. They too dey disturb me. I don tire". As I write, the profile is still deactivated. ![]() |
LDaVinci:OK. I see. Thanks for your perspective. |
LDaVinci:I pay my bills as a single man without children. I have been doing so for a while. For the record though, I am not living in Nigeria. Does this count for anything? |
LDaVinci:You save the money for something else. But weddings should be held every Saturday na. After parties and other parties such as birthdays, naming ceremonies, house parties (Toke is an expert on this concept) etc. Honestly, I doubt Nigerians are suffering o. I am yet to be convinced, sorry for being stubborn here. |
As I stated four years ago: Gerrard59:In summary, if you want visa-free privileges, become rich as a country. No one disrespects a rich person/country. |
LDaVinci:Most of the owners of those establishments have connections to Tinubu. They should not complain, please. |
Kenn55:Many Africans have this nauseating pride even in the face of excuriating poverty and hopelessness. It is very irritating to see poor people who are very arrogant. In the last few weeks, Thailand further liberalised its visa policies by adding more countries for visa-free privileges and extending the days accorded to citizens of much richer nations. Just yesterday, Taiwan is mooting introducing a Digital Nomad visa for six months! No country across the sub-Saharan enclave is richer than both countries. Indonesia copied the decision by Thailand. If Botswana is smart enough, current policies should remain. But it is stoopid for Namibian authorities to think that visa reciprocity will be enacted for its citizens by way wealthier countries when it is not Brazil. P.S. Before COVID, Namibia was in the top three for the highest percentage of unemployed citizens in sub-Saharan Africa! |
Nigeria, Kenya and South Africa are the only countries which can muster the economic strength to enact similar policies. However, the decision by the Namibian authorities is foolish, no ifs or buts. For a country that generates 7% of its GDP via tourism with the high-flying tourists from developed countries, it smacks of cutting one's nose. But these visitors will be able to buy their 90-day visa, costing $90, on arrival in Namibia - unlike the onerous requirements placed on African passport holders who need to get their visas beforehand. At least they were "sensible" to understand the economics behind it. But flying to Namibia from most developed countries is already morbidly expensive. The good thing however is that the country receives high-spending tourists. Unsurprisingly, fellow Africans are still subjected to stricter entry policies. A Nairalander has narrated how she was harassed and thoroughly questioned when she visited Namibia. The British High Commissioner to Namibia, Charles Moore, said he respected the right of Namibia to impose new regulations. The real reason the country was stripped of its visa-free privileges. Before now, Namibians enjoyed six months visa-free access to the UK. One of the fewest African countries to enjoy such a privilege. But see the results? As I write, Ghanaian players who travelled to participate in a competition in Norway absconded. One of the officials died while in Oslo. The relatives, four in number, sent to ferry the body also fled into thin air. The question Namibian authorities should ask is: how many Brits have overstayed their visa in the country? Already, a Nigerian visa is very hard to obtain. There are many tales of this on TwitterNG. So, there is nothing Namibia is doing that we are not experts at. However, while the likes of Indonesia, Thailand and even Big Daddy China are liberalising their visa rules for citizens of much richer nations, we tighten ours YET whine endlessly that we lack tourists who would have funded a sector which will provide much needed jobs in many hinterlands in the country. Tomorrow, we complain that the unemployment rate is high. There must be something terribly wrong with how we understand basic economics and its effects on society. People wey teach una economics no do well. They should refund the fees you guys paid! |
LDaVinci:Well, I don't live in Lagos and I don't frequent clubs. But I have had Nairalanders write that our men can spend close to 10 million naira while clubbing. Our young women take beautiful and slutty pictures in upscale restaurants. In other states notably Edo, in the capital Benin, people write that clubs are still filled. What about Abuja and Kano? Extravagant weddings and parties are held every weekend. In Imo, hotels are still constructed. No be ghosts dey patronise them na. Nigerians are not suffering. I am yet to be convinced. ![]() |
LDaVinci:I am yet to be convinced that the Nigerian economy is that bad. ![]() |
Tightpussy2024:Proper sex education and the reduction in the stigma behind abortion, which should be legalised, are the solutions. Are these folks you believe can perform "healthy co-parenting"? ![]() These are the ordinary Nigerians I am interested in not dem Ned Nwoko baby mama or Chioma of Davido. Also, the father of the baby needs to be held accountable as well. It takes two to tango. victory36:GBAM, and proper sex education should be institutionalised. |
Her uncle is a member of Tinubu's economic team. The same man worked with Tinubu while at ExxonMobil. Toke has narrated how she knows all the house parties in VI, Ikoyi and Banana Island. Toke and poor economy is an oxymoron. |
Nice one. I hope to visit any of these fishing communities to purchase freshly caught fishes and eat them. |
lastkingsman:Dr Chife campaigned and supported Buhari in 2015. At least Dangote still has skin in the game. Make person hear word, abeg! |
Tightpussy2024:It has been really nice and interesting having this conversation with you over the past few days. I really appreciate your time and interest. Unfortunately, we have to agree to disagree even though our points have been marshalled out properly. Hopefully, we will see the results of our stances in various countries in the coming years. Thank you. |
IjeBos:LOL! Humans are tribal. Nigerians don't like themselves. It is funny how tribalists, especially those from one of the world's poorest countries, accuse racists, from one of the world's richest countries, of racism. If you must discriminate on any criterion, have plenty of money. Nigerians don't have the moral right to accuse others of discrimination. As for the Nigerian elite class, they are largely unintelligent people. I just want them to be constantly thrown harsh words by Donald. |
Tightpussy2024:Apologies for being brash. My bad. My stance has been simple, leave people who has the means ( financially, emotionally and psychologically) that wants children to have without bullying them into matrimony. Its that simple.Again, not advisable in the long run for any society. Policymakers don't like it. It is not good for any society to have adults have children without being married. I stated how funny it is for you to say no decent woman can become a baby mama yet you support the same woman to have children without being married. How do you correlate traits of responsibility to having children without being married? Why do you believe that the majority of people in any society are responsible enough to engage in such an arrangement? Before I left naija, was in talk with one of ned nwokos baby mama.Again, an example of a wealthy person. Which society do you know that has more wealthy people than average folks? Why not choose examples from random households in Ibadan, Enugu and Gombe to study the effects of your lovey-dovey co-parenting? Why always the Lekki, Ikoyi, and Maitama versions? Between the former and the latter, which is prevalent in any given society? Which aspect do policymakers concern themselves with the most? |
Tightpussy2024:I think you compare Russia to Africa, that is the problem. Compared to East Asia or the West, Russia is not a conducive society, especially economically, to thrive. Calling a dog a wolf because you need to shoot it.Agreed, but as seen in the US and increasingly in the UK, there are effects with such ideologies. I am only worried with societies where it causes a problem though.Yet you disregard the data which shows this is a problem. First you don't know the difference between single parenting and out of wedlock birth and babymamaism. When I tried to educated you on it, you called it lovey dovey word. What is the difference between six and half a dozen? The effects you trumpet daily are from fatherless homes. Yet you are bullying men and women into matrimony to have kids. So Ronaldo and his children, or davido and chioma who was a baby mama until his recent marriage with her nko? Their kids will be bad?Expectedly, you provide examples where the couples are wealthy. This is the problem I have observed with so-called progressives - they popularise ideologies whose effects can be managed with lots of money but are detrimental to the majority of the populace as most people aren't wealthy or are at best average. Just as we have highly educated women promoting sexual liberation but forget that for most girls out there, the dangers could be very deleterious and managing them costs a lot of money. Allow responsible couples and adults have kids ( I am in support of laws coordinating this and thorough assessment is made ). No adult must endure matrimony just to have kids. Your reasoning is why lots of damaged and unmarriagable people are married and torturing their spouses because they need kids by all means.Again, the stats show that responsible couples and adults have children within the two parent household system. I quoted an article from the world's most gender-equal society. Imagine going into marriage just for kids alone. Then remain single or go the DINK route. Policymakers prefer citizens who have children to be married. How is that a bad thing? Didn't you read where I stated that married people contribute more to society than your lovey-dovey "healthy co-parenters"? Who does not wish for such in any society? Concerning adultery, please type on your browser, "what are the effects of male adultery in the society" . is it that hard? What are you scared of ? All responses you have given me are in comparison with single parenting, not straightforward and strawmanning.I searched and not even a handful of research papers, just opinion articles which listed some effects which when compared to the ill effects of single parenting are largely infinitesimal. |
chic2pimp:That group of voters have always voted for the Democratic Party. So, nothing new. I just think should the GOP lose this election, that is the end for them to enter the WH anytime soon. The demographic numbers don't favour them unless there is a seismic change. |
