yewit37486:https://www.nairaland.com/7763389/top-jamb-scorers-where-today Lagos rarely appears in this list. State of origin not state of residence. |
Tolu2024:That is not entirely true. Someone from Borno came top. Igbos feature in every list, but not always the No1. https://www.nairaland.com/7763389/top-jamb-scorers-where-today |
Congratulations to them. I am not surprised Akwa Ibom produced quite a few this year. The scores by a school from Abak or Ikot Ekpene were stunningly high. I knew one or two should be in the top ten. It would have been great to attach the secondary schools each candidate finished from. Empresa:The English language is the greatest gift the British bestowed on Nigeria. |
westside365:But the laws were changed recently and many foreigners were able to naturalise. Also, dual nationality has been approved. About the bold: nothing good comes easy. Maybe many declined to renounce Nigerian citizenship prior to the change in laws. P.S. Nobody likes black people. Even black people don't like themselves. |
ijebosb:In that very comment, I linked two articles. These articles chronicle the various studies and statements by native African Americans about who actually benefits from affirmative action: https://www.aei.org/op-eds/affirmative-action-helps-black-immigrants-but-not-black-americans/ Surprisingly you are not alone. I've found that there are a lot of self hating black people on this forum. I'm not sure why. Generally, it's people who have never left Nigeria, who somehow believe their skin color isn't really black or they would be considered the exceptional black skinned person. I see it a lot more in the American Politics threadAs usual, the classism. The belief that only those based outside Nigeria have "the range" to have a say on certain topics. The belief that even when someone is actually based outside Nigeria, they MUST have the same thought process because a set of people are the numero-uno. Not fact-based o, just vibes and anything Awon Liberals parrot. Mr IbeOkehie is based outside Nigeria and in the US like yourself. Well, here is it: in today's Nigeria, anyone can leave the country. So, being abroad isn't something to boast about. |
emmy512:Why won't they make the mistake when they use "borrow" instead of "lent", "leave" rather than "live", "were" rather than "where" and "there" rather than "their"? Honestly, I am shocked when I read Nigerians interchange those words. It was not like this ten years ago. |
IbeOkehie:Because they tend to make unguarded statements when it comes to racial issues, which we know is an emotional topic. (1) I would ask you to look into actual policy and tell us which party has done the most harm to Black Americans over its history AND in contemporary times.History shows it is the Democratic Party. You noted the $1,000 free theft policy enacted by Cococandy's California among other permissive crime policies. I urge you to go look up what's happening in that State.I was shocked by the policy, and more shocked seeing so-called liberals, especially blacks as the main perpetrators are black folks, supporting the leniency towards criminals. It is shocking to see seemingly educated people defend policies which condone criminality. It is one of the reasons I adore East Asian developed societies - criminality is not condoned. Madam Cococandy after reeling out her view of how drug laws target Blacks and spoil their records, completely ignored the facts I pointed out about the 1994 Crime Bill written by Joe Biden. [/b] She just read and moved on. When I point this out to Black Americans they're shocked.Isn't it surprising that the folks who proclaim "believe the science" find it hard to digest facts which refute their long-existing beliefs? These ae the same folks who accuse Trump's supporters of being unread, unlettered and illiterate. (2) If you insist on ignoring evidence, here's some truth you can't get over....every human being is racist, or to put in more generally, every human being is discriminatory. And that means EVERYONE.Before you became a Nairalander, I propagated that statement. So, I believe in it. Humans are tribal. It is human to discriminate. Gerrard59:Just an add on: here is a typical example of socialist policies:

sellout1:If you are very good at your job and have internationally recognised industry certifications (not Udemy o), I strongly recommend you opt for the NIW pathway to the US. Otherwise, Google about the express entry route in Canada or the skilled migration scheme in Australia. Do it yourself, else agents will swindle you. See an example here: https://x.com/mukhtar_usman/status/1813468072503619656 |
IbeOkehie:This is exactly the same question Ronu people ask Igbos across all social media. If you are so brilliant, why did you leave the Southeast to eke a living in the Southwest? This very question is what ADOS ask black Africans, especially Nigerians. If you claim to be so intelligent, why didn't you apply the intelligence to Africa rather than move to the US? OK, if we can justify his coming here, can we justify him now calling the country racist, the same country that admitted him and gave him opportunity? I repeat, Igbo people have a high tendency to gleefully make fools of other people and exploit their kindness and fairness. We both know the high levels of fake marriages to Black American women for Green Cards and many other forms of cheating the system. It worries me because I am Igbo, otherwise, I would not be bothered. The man who drives my mom to wherever she goes openly stated that the natives of the state are lazy people and don't have money. Meanwhile, this same man made his money from that very state, has a house there and resides safely. He cannot reside in his village in Anambra for two weeks because it is dangerous. He stated this himself. My mom rebuked him because it is absurd for you, an Igbo man, to leave your state and move to another place where you make your money and live safely only to accuse the natives of indolence. If you were so hard-working, why didn't you make it in your state and live there? I wrote about it here: Gerrard59:Many Igbos these days have a lovey-dovey approach to life. Well, things have changed, hopefully, they change too. Else, they will flog them not just with raw cane, but canes laced with pepper and charms. That was what most of them got during the elections in Lagos. If they like, let them continue. I will be here to gloat. I am very good at it. |
cococandy:Blacks, Black people, males, females, men, women etc. Mere semantics. What is the difference between six and half a dozen? Yes I support social programs that help people who are down on their luck, provide affordable healthcare and housing, affordable widespread public transportation, paid maternity and paternity leave. You know, all the things that truly make a 1st world country. Things that some other 1st world countries have managed to implement without falling into communism. Yet America is still beating about the bush on these issues while brainwashing anyone who cares to listen that it’s impossible to achieve. The US is too diversified to institute certain policies nationwide. I am all for paid maternity leave provided each state has its jurisdiction on the topic. Widespread public transportation has to do with the car lobby and the breadth of the country. The thing with certain public benefits is that the US, as I stated, is too populated and DIVERSIFIED across racial and ethnic groups. Mr IbeOkehie has explained why some countries can afford (not just monetarily, but socially in the long-term) socialist policies. So comparing the US to say Norway or Denmark is very misplaced. Saudi Arabia can enact social policies, ditto Ghana or Namibia, but Nigeria should not do the same. I pay my taxes in the thousands and I’d love to see the money go to those who actually need it versus padding the pockets of military contractors who go around the world stoking wars and strife so they can sell more weapons. It’s not other people’s money. It our collective money that’s meant to benefit the collective public rather than a select few corrupt business men.Well, Biden has engaged in more wars than Trump. By now, everyone should have admitted that the world was safer when Trump was president. It is Trump not Biden who seeks to stop funding Ukraine. I don’t even know what this is supposed to mean. Because I’m Igbo, am I supposed to overlook the fact that certain people truly want me to perish for my skin color? And they mostly occupy the Republican Party?Or should it just be another day because “by the way it’s worse in Nigeria”? You have truly made no meaningful point with this comment here. While I do understand the GOP has refused to let go of its racist tendencies, I must state it: Igbos should be the last set of people to complain of racism especially as they are not the native blacks. It is not like modern-day Igbos were forced to move to the US. They went WILLINGLY. This is actually false. Just because you said something on NL and call it facts doesn’t make it so.I quoted two articles. One of which was a chronicle of research studies and the other an actual research paper. Then this: White women benefit most from affirmative action — and are among its fiercest opponents. The topic was not about white women, but black Africans who disproportionately benefit from affirmative action policies originally instituted to help native African Americans. This is an issue so-called ADOS are fighting against. And as the population of native African Americans gradually reduces, while that of black Africans gradually increases, we will see more of such in-fighting. So, your evidence does not refute mine. You just dodge it by bringing in white women when it was not about that group. |
Karleb:Thanks for the correction. |
ijebosb:Expectedly, you could not refute my claims with superior evidence. Very typical of the lovey-dovey folks in the Democratic Party. Nothing surprising. Additionally, a Nigerian has no right to accuse others of racism. Lastly, how is it racist, as a black African, to question policies which benefit black Africans more than native African Americans which they were intended for? |
Karleb:To be fair though, beans have always been more expensive. |
IbeOkehie:What intrigues me about California is that the economy is so big and the state is populated even when conservatives bemoan its policies and talk about leaving. But yes, the social policies are terrible. I even read where Newsom signed a bill into law preventing parents from having a say on whether schools can prevent transgender mumbo-jumbo. That is the same state where it is lawful to steal provided the total sum is below $1000 or less. Good gracious lord! Belgium is basically TWO or THREE countries in one, I think it's TWO, those two major parts hardly interact at all. They even have separate political parties, the main party in each region DOESN'T CONTEST for office in the other regions, hardly at all. Belgium goes for YEARS without forming a national government. That happened a few years ago. There was no national government because the French and Dutch parties could not agree. Spain? Brazil? I don't know too much about them, but I bet you if we looked up and researched it the importance of homogeneity will be obvious. Once you get the Big Picture, everything fits in almost all of the time.Brazil is where the US is heading in the next decade or so. Spain has the majority Spaniard group, rather than just the Basque and Catalan groups. The Basque is a tiny minority compared to the Catalonia group. If Basque and Catalans were significant populations, there would be continuous rancour in the country. Also, each ethnic group has a level of autonomy within its region. The ingredients of National Prosperity are known and confirmed by rigorous social & statistical research. Democracy, free markets, homogeneity or domination by one ethnic or religious culture and enforced private property rights are necessary for national prosperity, but don't guarantee it.Also, the characteristics of the dominant ethnic group are important. Lee Kuan Yew stated this between Indians and Malays in Singapore. He stated (paraphrased) that Singapore would not be where it is if Indians had a significant share of the population because they debate unnecessarily. As for Malays, they tend to involve religion in almost everything. For Nigeria, one way it can create MORE homogeneity is to have TRIBAL STATES or regions with high levels of autonomy. That's an example of how these factors work, you gotta look at it with a level of intellectual synthesis. I believe that's what's coming in the USA.While this is possible on paper, how do you prevent migration between states? How do you prevent a group from forming a significant increase in another region? Or do you institute laws which explicitly prevent their inclusion in the political process? |
djon78:The people in that category campaigned and voted for Buhari in 2015. Today, some relocated. Others fled their jobs and sought foreign citizenship. How can an intelligent person vote for Buhari? You people misuse that term. |
IbeOkehie:They are selfish in that regard because it reduces the competition from uber-competitive Asians (Indians and Chinese). It is funny how the same Igbos kick against quota system in Nigeria, but support affirmative action in the US. |
lastkingsman: Menemonic:Sorry, I don't have money. |
IbeOkehie:They never get to answer this question. As it is, black people generally hate numbers and fact-based debates. It is partly why we don't perform well in quantitative tests worldwide or even show up during competitions such as the Olympiad. Nigeria is a hopeless case. Because Black Africans tend to be SOCIALIST, they don't believe in MERIT or equal opportunity. We tend to be more emotional than logical. That is emphatically true. Blacks have this penchant for feeding bottle mentality. Always government support with other people's money o. Never theirs, but as Margaret Thatcher stated..."The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money". LOL, you're not referring to past events with any accuracy. Based on my experiences, I know you're likely a Black woman in a family earning in the 85 to 90 percentile.I am amused when I see Igbos, regardless of location, complain of racism. It makes me chuckle. I generally find people in your bracket support DEI and Affirmative Action because those policies favor RICH Black people while suppressing Asian competitors. Poor Blacks don't benefit from it. When say 10% of positions are reserved for Blacks, it's the RICH or upper middle-class Blacks that benefit because they don't have to compete. I've already told the story of a friend of mine that earns $1 million per year. There are facts to support it. 1) The greatest beneficiaries of AA are upper middle class blacks, not the downtrodden. 2) In fact, black Africans benefit proportionally more than native African Americans on a per capita basis. I am surprised that this statistic isn't widely popular so that native African Americans get to know the biggest benefactors of affirmative action. It is why on Twitter, upper middle-class black Africans "support" the continuous use of affirmative action. I have even advised another Nairalander who resides in Spain to ensure his children select "Black/African American" during admission. I will do the same, but the truth has to be told. These articles chronicle the various studies and statements by native African Americans about who actually benefits from affirmative action: https://www.aei.org/op-eds/affirmative-action-helps-black-immigrants-but-not-black-americans/ https://www.repository.law.indiana.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1008&context=ijlse |
SimonAledu:It is legit. For conferences, check with the organisers. Eventbrite is just a company that curates events to be held within a particular period of time and location. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eventbrite Is this why you DM'd me? |
Are beans really that expensive in Nigeria? |
It's very bold of you to put your picture to the public. I wish you all the best. |
discusant:But it is actually true that most of their ancestors emigrated from Italy. If not, why do some European countries have ancestry visa programs? Even Irish citizens in far-flung places can claim theirs. The same for British citizens living in South Africa. Or are you pained that Argentines have a fast-tracked process to claim citizenship in the EU? How many African countries have similar schemes for other Africans? When have Italians pursued Argentines compared to South Africans doing the same to Nigerians and Zimbabweans? Any Argentine, Chilean or Uruguayan can claim EU nationality by ancestry. It is their right. Don't be pained about it. On the other hand, Russians scramble for the Argentinean passport, which is way more powerful than any African country's passport. |
Wizardslayer:One thing to note: whenever you see a black person, especially a black African, complain of racism. Check well, that person displays tribal bigotry against his fellow citizens who themselves are black. Never take the rants of a black African racist bemoaner seriously. S/he has done worse! |
A thread for tribalists to vent that racists exist. Hilarious to see. ![]() |
raskymonojendor:Even tribalist go dey troll Argentina. ![]() |
pocohantas:Interesting expose. But hey, Damilola is a hot chick! ![]() MusafaLion, what do you have to say about this list? Are you going to keep blaming the women as usual? |
Quest7777:That is it. These are two White men with similar ideologies, both of whom are supported by prominent white men in the US. Nigeria is different. As I have stated here, majority of Nigerians will vote for a pig instead of Udom Emmanuel. Udom Emmanuel isn't Igbo, but that is the reality - a pig over Udom. |
Any Igbo person who participates in such a protest should be shot in the back of the head! |
AngelicBeing:My bad. I knew he did, but a long time ago. As for the other Ukrainian pastor, I don't know about him. |
