The majority of the Indians who own the properties are naturalised British citizens, aka natives in the eyes of the law.

I wonder why he didn't arrange for his kids to be born in the US since he's so scared of their future I am sure he had Spanish nationality before he had kids since he's been living there for 19 years. Black man and lack of planning. Even if the kids eventually school in the US, settling after school is difficult. Anyway Sha he has given them a Spanish passport which isn't that bad. If my papa been give me Spanish passport I for worth at least one million usd now with all wey dey my head.
Most of our people think in the short term. Also, maybe he was trying to move to English-speaking countries within that period, but calculated the costs of relocation. Which begs the question, why now when he is almost 50? At 35? Yes. Not now. Terrible move. Even if the firm offers him L1 visa transfer (an assumption), he will lose the social capital he has built over time and sense of stability.

Well, the koko for folks in non-English speaking countries, especially places where okay jobs aren't available for the natives in particular is to birth their children in Anglophone countries. Most importantly, the use of the English language should be mandatory. I hope those Igbo fellas who lampooned us for emphasising English over Igbo for diasporans have realised why some languages are more important than others.

Dear beloved Nlander I need your candid advise because am in between two choices that might make or break me.
Iam in my very late 40s living in Spain for 19yrs am married with two toddlers 8 and 4, my wife and I have stable jobs I work during the week she works weekends with this time table we can take care of the kids.
Now for the sake of my kids I decided to relocate from Spain, because I want my kids to be English orientated because here in Spain the chances for them to succeed is slim ,first choice was Scotland but I ruled it out because of this brexit thing,so settled for Ireland because its the only English speaking country in the EU where I can easily settle and start work as European passport holder.

So I paused the plan am thinking could God be using this guy to save me from a wrong move or the Devil using him to stop me from achieving God’s plan for me.
You are almost 50 and close to retirement. How much do you think your pension would be in Spain when you leave and in Ireland when you leave the workforce? Do you have a signed job offer from a company in Ireland? What kind of skills do you have to present to Irish firms that there is no substitute from elsewhere?

As a man who has toiled so hard for 19 years, I strongly state that you have to enjoy your hard work without disrupting yourself again for another relocation sojourn. Relocation is hard anywhere and by moving here and there, you lose the social capital you have built only to rebuild in your new location. You do this when the money is plenty, not when you are average. This is akin to a company with limited capital opening branches here and there when it has not conquered its home environment.

As for your kids, English MUST be the only language spoken at home, no ifs or buts. Even if you were Chinese or Arab, this is the same policy to enact. English is the world's global language for business and studies. To prepare them for the next decade, ensure they get the best education, especially mathematics-based, in Spain. When it is time for university, they should focus only on American universities. Get them prepped for SAT and TOEFL. In the application process, they should choose the option of Black/African regardless of their nationality. With a high SAT score, scholarships are plentiful. In life, you have to use other people's money to leverage and advance to the next level. In this case, their intellect is the collateral. Remember to ensure they choose Black/African American in the application process.

Hopefully, they have Spanish nationality to ease visa issues. I say this because Spain no get work for their natives, which is why they move in droves to Germany, Austria and Switzerland after graduation to search for good jobs. Let alone black children. Yes, the UK is the best place in Europe for blacks to thrive, but no country on earth, not even in sub-Saharan Africa - home to black people - defeats the USA. That is the only place where blacks, both professional and blue-collar, thrive economically. Your children must not have Europe as the only option, especially as they are black.

You have done well for yourself and your family. At this point, don't overstretch yourself. When the time is right, the children should do that for themselves. You have offered them the bed, let them search for the pillow.

Okay here we go...

e taken we fell they are in the promise land.l but they are not.
I will advise you if you have relatives abroad be it the USA, Canada, UK, Germany etc. its not easy i know what am talking about.
One advice I will give to us Nigerians is stop the money conversion YES! Stop it.

Now before I go any further let me explain. Even if you make 2000 pound or 2000 Dollars every paycheck my brother you are suffering.

See to sum it up right. Let me use my self as a case study. I have traveled to different countries , From UK to France and now i live in America

Now have it in mind that we in America nobody will tell you this but I will now. And I want somebody to prove me wrong in America and the UK, the citizens 15 people out of 100 are the ones that go to school. When I mean school I mean the university i.e bachelor's and masters degree. They don't go to school only the wealthy go to school here those who were born into money or the one that decides that he or shill will go take out student loans to go to school. Na we wain japa come here dey go school.its not that they don't want to its because it is very expensive and they can't afford it. A typical American citizen doesn't have up to $4000 saved u as emergency funds it's very hard to come by. I am not saying they are not but it's rear. ( Ask me why and it will be a while new topic for another day)
hind.
The reason Americans don't have up to that amount saved has been explained below:

Kenn55:
All the western world countries are almost the same except for little variations here and there.

They are all credit societies where large chunk of their economy is driven by consumer spending.

However you have the choice to stay out of loans. For example, If you don't have money to go to school, then you don't have to study courses that would keep you heavily indebted since you will be taking loan to study. You can study in demand courses in colleges with grant rather than go to a high ranking university to study with loans. You can decide to drive a 15 year old car and pay for it in cash rather than going for a brand new or fairly new car with loan.

You can even keep renting instead of buying a house on mortgage if you hate loans so much but that doesn't make sense since houses are assets and not liabilities. Even though you owe money on a house, you can sell it and make profit when the time is right.

Note that an average oyibo doesn't care much about debt the way we do cos that is how they live from beginning and it's part of their lifestyle as built by their system.

You talked about savings but note that these western countries are not built for savings but spending. Like I said before, it is the bedrock of their economy. Besides, the structure of their society coupled with fairly good governance makes savings not to be a big deal.

Why do people need savings? In case of emergency. What are the do or die emergencies? Loss of job, health, accidents, loss of shelter, life etc. The oyibo model is insure instead of savings. This is why insurance is one of the biggest industries in North America.

In this place, your insurance is your savings while in places like Nigeria, your savings is your insurance because of the model our society is run. You see the difference.

Why would an average oyibo be bothered much about savings when he has insured against all possible emergencies? Life, employment, health, home, car, accident and even pet sef dey get insurance. These insurance coverages cost money but because of their mentality, they embrace it but majority of us Africans will see it as a waste and instead save those money in the bank and that would form part of our "savings".

So when you read an average oyibo have little or no savings, that is the truth but it doesn't tell the full story.

You asked a valid question but you need to understand how the society is built in order to properly navigate it. The choice to embrace the oyibo model or our Nigerian model or a little mixture of both is left for you.
That said, it is always interesting how you people reel out expenses but never earnings. Dem dey owe una salary for there? Una no dey earn money wey una dey spend? Why the focus on expenses but not earnings? Do you spend out of thin air?

Also, if the US is so bad, how come Nigerians in the US are the biggest buyers of real estate in Nigeria? Yes, Nigerians abroad especially those in the US purchase more real estate assets in Nigeria than Nigerians in Nigeria.

It is even more interesting that the OP is a notorious miscreant who has characterised Nigerian girls as useless, but look at where he intends to migrate to? grin grin

The "useless" Nigerian girls are migrating to the UK as nurses and carers, but our resident "Nigerian girls are useless" advocate intends to travel to Liberia. Certainly not for tourism. Who goes to Liberia for tourism when Ghana and Ivory Coast are nearby? Or you think Liberian girls are more useful than their Nigerian counterparts?

Well, as I stated six years ago:

Gerrard59:
It goes beyond spending vacations abroad as not everyone can afford it. However, reading newspapers, being involved in debates; obtaining proper education that stimulates logical reasoning - why, how, what, when - being open-minded are the important traits needed for proper upbringing. Also, adequate nutrition is necessary. Most of such men had poor upbringing, nutrition and poor parental care etc. The majority are frustrated and unemployed individuals, low-lifers, miscreants, religious nutjobs etc
I have always known such people to be innately useless. I am not surprised by their outcomes.

When you stated earlier that you intended to do Keke business over there, I thought you meant selling meme or motor parts. How in God’s name do you want to ride keke napep in Liberia? Howhuh

If you have no capital to do business there and have no special skill, please don’t go there and constitute nuisance. They have surplus of poor people in there own country that would do that keke napep. Do not go there and choke them otherwise it would result in resentment and xenophobia.
That is how they go there and after seeing that the country is worse than Nigeria, they blame an innocent Tinubu. Why would a Nigerian move to Liberia to ride Keke? What happened to moving to another state to do the same thing? No need for language or major cultural differences. No need for residency document issues. It is simply the same country, just a change of location without the need for passport issuances. Why not ride in Gombe or Kwara? He would need a residence permit to operate in Cameroon but not Taraba.

Anyway, my Oga has stated it, Liberia is the sh!tholes of sh!tholes. Fine, Nigeria has its issues, but some countries in the continent are way worse than Nigeria.

I also came to the conclusion that you must be igbo after you pointed out the fact that one's ethnicity may lead to reject of his/her historical account. Only an Igbo could have seen it from that angle.
Sure, and it is largely because of the history between Nigeria and Igbos. The interesting thing is, even if a "detribalised" Igbo does act deliberately naive about the history, events in the country would ALWAYS remind the person of his/her place in Nigeria. Chinua Achebe stated it: “Nigerians will probably achieve consensus on no other matter than their common resentment of the Igbo.” Recent events have proved that statement to be true. Just as killings pre-independence have done the same. I became aware during the 2011 elections, especially the aftermath, and the events leading to the 2015 elections coupled with its aftermath. It is why I was not fazed by the events of 2019 and 2023. Sometimes, when I read about events in Nigeria, I just smile. I have seen it from the end: https://www.nairaland.com/7621766/tinubus-nigeria-nigeria-2050 Nothing surprises me anymore.

Other ethnic groups, especially ethnic minorities might feel powerless, but they too are feeling it.

P.S. A "detribalised Nigerian" is an oxymoron.

My brother China is making me proud the way they're not bending over backwards for US and their NATO lackey and I also like that Russia seems to not give a damn! Britain and USA are all big hypocrites there's not a single crime against humanity that these two haven't committed in history of man, and none of them have ever been punished, sanctioned or criticized for it. All their sanctions and propaganda are aimed at Russia,
Oh! As for China, I am PROUD of them and their steadfastness in ensuring they develop without kowtowing to anyone. This is being discussed here: https://www.nairaland.com/7801886/multipolarism-versus-hegemonism-great-power It is an ongoing thread and I have contributed my share. It is informative and an eye-opener. Before the Ukrainian-Russian war, I was not interested or I was ignorant of the hypocritical moves by the West. But now? Nothing they say surprises me. I am glad to have seen things from different angles.

the same Russia that saved the entire western Europe by sacrificing thousands of their men on the battlefield in WW1 to stop the advancing German from strolling into Paris. Russia although being ill equipped still made the sacrifice and when their death toll became astronomically High they asked for the west's reinforcement but they were abandoned and left to die like rats, most of the Russian soldiers went into that battle empty handed, they had no guns or rifles, still they fought on . Most Russians became tired of the war and wanted to sign out from the war but these same western Europe would not allow them to that. Russians kept getting slaughtered until they had enough and caused a coup which overthrew the government and the soviets, which was dominated by the Bolsheviks under Lenin took power and immediately signed a peace agreement with Germany which led the West to start printing propaganda articles in unprintable words in the media against the new Russia government. Hypocrites, na propaganda them Sabi write.
Thanks for the summary of the events during WW1. Although, I would love to read about Europe's history, I want to commence from Nigeria's then Africa. You have done well in rooting yourself in history.

Personal hygiene matters a lot , tell your spouse to have a lukewarm bath brush his or her teeth to avoid discomfort from mouth odor, wash his or her private part that was well shaved and give it a little roleon.
Engaging on a deeper romance which comprises of kissing, sucking, Play with nipples and boots and don't be scared of licking her is your own so if you don't lick her cunt who will do that for you?

P.S. Every country is tribal. Humans are tribal beings. Even animals are tribal. The difference between theirs and ours is those people have money. Nigeria's tribalism is worse because the people doing it are poor. Being poor and tribalistic is very disgusting. If you must be tribalistic, have money, plenty of it.

In the earlier pages of this thread, there was this discourse that the MEXT Scholarship is based on man know man, aka nepotism and mago mago. Well, from my experiences so far and interactions, I advised future readers and would-be MEXT Scholar applicants to disregard those words. The MEXT scholarship, whether Embassy or University recommendation, is highly competitive and one the rarest scholarships which pay for everything from flight ticket to tuition to stipend to return ticket if you wish to return home. It is not common anywhere in the world. Only the Commonwealth Scholarship by the British government comes close in similar benefits. That too is biased towards first class graduates.

This post is hinged on Embassy Recommendation as it is more competitive than University Recommendation even though the metrics are almost the same. First, if you don't have a first class, it would be tough as most MEXT Scholars I have come across from Nigeria have first class. The ones who have 2.1. have it above 4.0, aka strong 2.1., and one even had a distinction in his MSc from his alma mater. Even from other African countries, they have a first class and/or cognate work experience. One worked with PwC in his country before his MSc in Economics. A cursory look on LinkedIn with the search phrase: "MEXT Scholar + Nigeria or any notable Nigerian University" would bring out the results: almost all had a first class.

So, first class graduates get an advantage over others. To out-bid them, cognate work experience is vital.

The premise that Nigerians, especially recent japarians don't or rarely attend churches is not entirely true. Judging from Nigerian pastors' conferences and gatherings, the attendance numbers are very high and the venues are always filled. In Canada and the UK, church attendance increased largely due to recent migrants from Africa and the Philippines.

Additionally, for most recent first-generation migrants, the Church is the closest replica to home and a good place to dwell amongst their kindred and commune/socialise in a familiar environment. However, as years go by and these migrants acclimatise to their host countries, they gradually reduce their attendance, and this continues to the second generation. Compare those who emigrated during 2005 - 2010 to post-Covid.

Indeed you're correct about apportioning blame to the elite especially those from the Northern part who fought tooth and nail to remove history from our school curriculum which has done a great damage to us. And like you said, any Nigerian who writes a historical account of Nigeria would be reviewed through tribal lenses which a sad reality but still that shouldn't deter one from such endeavors.

Oh the British were extremely terrible, they were so terrible that one member of the parliament had to speak up about it, especially about the extremity and illegality of the activities of RNC( Royal Niger company) which acted on behalf of the British.
Yeah they gave us English language but took away Our sovereign, Our identity and culture, levied us with taxes and unfair treaties. You resist you get killed and your village gets wiped out and burned to the ground to the glee of the British soldiers.

You're right indeed that a lot of Nigerians don't know anything about their history and don't even bother to get acquainted with it, probably due to the High deficiency in critical thanking and curiosity among the people. As an Igbo man I became very curious about the Nigeria history at an early stage. It all started when my late Father told us about the Biafra civil war, a was in secondary school when it started ( Coallary comprehensive, Enugu. Id I remember correctly) and got conscripted into the Biafran army under Gen. Achuzia, he was 16yrs, it was his platoon that blew up the Niger bridge to prevent the Federal Army from crossing into Ọnicha. His story piqued my interest in Nigeria history and history in. General. And popsy has a lot of good history books in his library that helped quench my thirst.
I found out about Goldie when I was researching on the RNC( Royal Niger company) the company that is now known as Unilever company, crazy when I found out he was Flora shaw's love interest at one point and Lugard boss at another and also has children from a Nigerian woman ( his mistress when he was in Nigeria).

Tinubu changing back to that era's anthem is a slap to our faces and shows that this people have no other plans than ro take us backwards. Try this in India and see if you're not impeached within a day, that's if you're able to last that long because they would probably assassinate you before the impeachment is completed.
As I suspected, I am Igbo as well. So, you see, the interest in Nigeria's history differs depending one's ethnicity.

Indeed it's simply just to balance the accounting books that led to Nigeria existence. There's no other deeper reason. In 1900 Britain created TWO countries with similar sounding names, The protectorate of Northern Nigeria and The protectorate of Southern Nigeria, and for 14 yrs these two countries had separate government, different colonial personal, legal systems, land tenur laws, different Educational policy and commissioners. Lugard was the commissioner for Northern protection while Ralph Moor was for the South, yet herein lies the irony of all these, Goldie was a strong advocate for the amalgamation had this to say concerning the two separate countries " The two countries are as widely separated in laws, government, customs and general ideas about life, both in This world and the next, as England is from China ". Ponder on those words for a minute. They did their amalgamation anyway because it made their books look better.

I agree with you that the Northern leaders and Muslims were averse to the encroachment of western education because it was promoted by the Christian missionaries and Lugard had to try to curb religious unrest, but IMO that was not the only reason for his lack of enthusiasm for native schooling. Just as the slave trading states in America blocked slaves from receiving education because it gave them critical thinking and an aspiration for freedom, Lugard and some British colonial administrators abhorred the confidence that the education gave Nigerians and the assumption among educated Nigerians that their educational credentials and ability to speak English placed them in position of equality with their white colonial masters. Lugard was so irritated that he wrote in his dairy " the self assurance and importance of these anglicized Blacks is beyond calculation".... And also that " Education for Africans made them less fertile, more susceptible to lungs trouble and other disease, and to defective dentition".
The colonial masters were wicked and brutal just like their cousins who championed the slave trade in the US. It is one of the reasons I support the rise of a strong and wealthy China 'cos as it is, we don't have the wherewithal to avenge. Let China do it on everyone's behalf.

It seems the best way to run a profitable factory in Nigeria is to have Indians as its managers. wink
