Majulah Singapura!

Even though Japan and Singapore are allies (Singaporeans LOVE Japan), no favouritism when rules are broken.

As for those rights groups, they should shut up! There's a reason Singapore is one of the world's safest cities for almost ten consecutive years.

I'm honored to be mentioned by you.
You're right about our marriage being primarily for childbearing.
If you haven't conceived, you'll be asked the reason for the delay. I usually reply them asking if they'll take responsibility when the child comes and they laugh saying God will provide.
Please don't fall for the religious, God-chanting tricks of Nigerians. I cherish your current state - two children. You plan well and hope for the best, while also preparing for the worst. You know where the shoe pinches. As you rightly stated, children are investments, not to reap but to nurture. It takes so much to raise children into responsible beings in today's world. I read online that a crate of egg don hit 5K, and we know how egg, in boiled form, is essential for children's growth, mentally, physically and nutritiously.

I still try to phantom how couples seeing their low income mekwe anyhow and not take caution. They claim that it's good to have a good number of them as you don't know how many will succeed.
Tor! Hopefully, they have more girls than boys. kiss

Do you think marriage is easy?? Obviously your opinions don't count for anything, one can have a decent baby mama , Money is all you need.
Obviously, my opinions don't count, but I am stating them because I am cock-sure no DECENT WOMAN wants/wishes/desires to be a baby-mama. If she is so greedy by how much you offer, her parents and siblings, especially the men in her life WOULD kick against it. Why can't you marry her? What makes you think you would have unfettered access to a woman you are not married to simply because she has your child? In fact, if she is Igbo, the child isn't yours, but her family's. Why is she good for having a child, but not marriage? You think scientific studies which show that children raised in two-parent households are better off than their single-parent household counterparts were fake? This is a global phenomenon. Again, I say that any man who wants to have a baby-mama is very irresponsible and stoopid!

I dare you to go to any good working establishment where there are single ladies and mention that you wish to have a baby-mama rather than a wife and watch their responses. Go to medical and pharmacy departments anywhere in Nigeria and scream that you want a baby-mama, not a wife. Go to any church or mosque service and open your buccal cavity chanting "I want a baby-mama not a wife".

Get their responses, Mr BabyMamaIsTheBestThingSinceSliceBread!

I know a female twins that both got first class in mathematics in the same federal university.
This is a piece of good news because Uniuyo is notorious for deliberately ensuring very few students convoke with a first class. I am curious to know how many convoked and who was the BGS. Hopefully, they get informed beyond Ikpa and Nwaniba Roads and make the best out of their grades. It is no mean feat considering schools in the East (South South and Southeast) convoke fewer first class graduates than their counterparts in the South West.

For a predominately male department, I am gutted with their performances.

She can also get a good job in Nigeria while preparing for graduate studies if she is interested. Her type plenty inside the Big4 and if she is ambitious enough and well-informed, she could work in either McKinsey & Co or BCG. Fatima and David of CU and Unilag don't have two heads.

Not true.

Yes there is a higher standard of life out there.

There are certain jobs that are reserved for citizens.

Like working in the intelligence services.

There are certain places non-citizens will never enter.

That is certainly a glass ceiling of some sort.

Yes, the pay is better. The standard of living is better.

.
This is not worse than other Nigerians vowing that an Igbo man cannot become Nigeria's president. Check the appointments made by Tinubu, how many Beroms, Ijaws, Ogonis, Efiks, Adonis, Jukuns, Tivs etc., persons has he appointed? Dem no fit become intelligence heads?

Firstly I don’t count myself as an elite (neither poor).

Secondly I am not discouraging Japa, I only said not all sizes fit all, cooperate with your destiny

lastly, Nigeria is my home I want to buy a Carribean passport (as soon as I can afford one) for the ease of travel not because I want to leave Nigeria (which is not wrong by the way). I don’t see any hypocrisy in what I said.
Well, there are many routes to attaining a superior passport. One of which is relocation and another is Citizenship by Investment. Any Nigerian who can fork out $150K - $200K is not the average Nigerian. Any Nigerian who rather than relocate and reside in his/her chosen country to attain naturalisation status then chooses CIB is an elite. It is those at the top that breeze into CIB. Middle class folks go through work or student visas.

Whether you like Nigeria or not isn't the issue, but ALL Nigerian elites have superior passports. You are not the exception. Yours is even via CIB than a work or study visa. That makes you a top 1% of the 1% who have a superior passport.

Accept who you are. The same ease of travel you seek for is what those in Canada/UK and elsewhere are vying for. It doesn't make you a special lover of Nigeria.

I'm in my late 20s and I've been doing some pretty serious calculations lately and I figured out that birthing your kids as a man in your late 20s is super beneficial but the issue here is the bad Economy that a lot of us face in our late 20s e.g paying lots of bills , settling family members , Etc

Everyone desires for their kids to take care of them at old age , now imagine you are 60 years and your first child is still 15 years old. That jeopardizing the kid's future. Cause at age 60 your ability to work reduces significantly.
Mr franchas.officia has thoroughly explained what you need to know. My interest is the bold. Inasmuch as it is good for children to take care of their children, today's parents shouldn't wish to depend on those children for economic survival in their elderly state. I understand the structure of Nigeria's economy doesn't fully cater for pension (assuming successive govts don't squander everything), but by depending on the children, you make it difficult for them to build their economic bases. Also, you cannot predict what tomorrow's economy will look like. Those who had children during the early '90s still have to contribute to their children's stability or contribute to their well-being. Additionally, culture changes. In my opinion, the generation that will assist their parents willingly and happily is mine. The present Gen-Zs will be hesitant or some will outrightly say no.

So, it is important you plan your retirement especially as na man you be. Also, no born plenty children. That is where the economics of childbearing and raising come to play.

Dear OP, children are COST INTENSIVE PROJECT and not age incentive project. If you're financially prepared, you wouldn't create this thread.
The average cost of a baby monthly for someone on a low budget is diapers 10,000
Formula 38000 if it's not exclusive bf.
Others like wipes, soap, cream, detergent.... 5000 to 10000.
About 60k monthly, you've not added education savings, hospital funds.....
I have a 2 yrs old and a 6 months old. Even a good woman will be frustrated if there's no money. She has to eat nutritious food to feed the baby and it must be budgeted for.
It's good to be optimistic but what if the child is a special one health wise, you'll incur more cost.
In summary, please look at your income before bringing the child into the world.
Even my Bible says who builds a house without counting the cost.
The thing here is that Nigerians nay Africans marry for childbearing sake, not companionship. That is why they practice marry today, born tomorrow ideology. How many Nigerian newly wedded couples would intentionally postpone childbearing for at least two years? And the main koko is that they like to born plenty children scatter everywhere. Born two now, two years never reach, another two don drop. Then they blame Tinubu.

The same Uniuyo convoked its female first class in Physics (second time in its history). Now, it's Mathematics. Kudos to the lass. First class in Mathematics is fairly common, though rare for a female to possess it. It's that of Physics that's a rarity. I can worship the ground a first class Physics grad walks on.

Passing aptitude tests or the GRE shouldn't be a problem. Getting good jobs will be so easy for them.

In 2009, my sister Annabel Uzu, married Christopher Onyemali, a lawyer based in Asaba. Within a month of their wedding, he started beating her. Over the years, the beatings became more violent with each case resolved internally due to our conservative background.
Nigerian women should learn to divorce once they (husbands) go against values you hold dear to heart. The sight is horrific! The question: why have five children with such a man? Contraceptives are very important. Please use them.

I don't like when people start to write as if Nigerians are the worst people on earth. That's a bloody lie and you can tell your ultron guy to check himself if he is indeed saying the truth. Nigerians run most banks for example 100% and banks are even better run than these manufacturing plants. The average Nigerian is not worse than the average Indian or Chinese. I have worked in companies managed by Indian, Chinese and Pakistani and I can assure you they are not better than Nigerians in terms of honesty in terms of corrupt practices. Nigerian business owners prefer them because they have no qualms when it comes to cutting corners and sharp practices. The worst part is how they treat those who work under them. You need to experience it to understand. The part about not being corrupt is simply because they are not familiar with the environment enough to steal. But I can assure you if they see moves by under them that they know will benefit them, they have no qualms about allowing it.
So to answer your question directly, Nigerian business guys employ them because they help them carry out sharp practices without batting an eyelid and also there is the angle of money laundering which i don't want to get into.
Okay. Thank you for your side of the explanation. In your opinion, in a manufacturing setting, how is theft avoided or fought against by the managers? What do you recommend?

And what’s the role of feminism in this?
I just believe a man with money should enjoy the good things of life. One of which is beautiful women. These beautiful women enjoyed theirs. Let the men enjoyed theirs. Life na turn by turn.

Don't discount being able to live among your own people with similar culture.
Not to talk of the ceilings most immigrants abroad face. I think some people wouldn't be comfortable with the reality that they're second class citizens and have certain peaks they'd never reach. I know some of you do not care about such, but some do.

Citing purely amenities kind of still makes me annoyed. We neglect our society and run to the abroad to develop them. It's infuriating. So to sum it up, it's not just about easy sex, as any hardworking/ moderate looking man who knows how the world works will get regular sex in any part of the world. For me it's been hard to japa cos it doesn't feel right.
I noted that aspect in the original thread. I understand the place of familiar culture and all. Humans are tribal. But from the thread, a place like Ghana or Namibia could be better off, especially considering infrastructure and SAFETY of lives and properties. Besides, even in Nigeria, tribalism is rampant on top of the poor infrastructure, poor security and inhalation of generator fumes.

ultron12345:
Depends on the perspective of the person speaking.

Employers tend not to like them, but Business owners love them.

I'll speak based on my experience with them, as a business owner.

Several years ago, I had serious difficulties managing various businesses I had set up. The staff dealt with me. Forging of invoices, theft of inventory, inflation of contracts, there's nothing they didn't do.

The Nigerian workers were out to finish me.
Like they say, "where person dey work, na there e dey chop, hence the name, workchop (workshop)".

You sack and replace them, the new ones continue from where the old ones stopped. They will even improve their techniques of stealing so as not be caught like their predecessors.

After trying so many methods to reduce all this, from utilizing tech and automating several processes, to involving relatives, it came to my realization that the only way to stop all this was to run the businesses myself, to be "on ground" always, but that wasn't possible. So I planned to start shutting them down and to focus only on one. I told a friend who was also a businessman about my challenges and plans, hoping he would be able to purchase some of the assets I was hoping to sell from the shutdown businesses. He recommended I hire indian management. I wasn't keen at first, but finally decided to try it.

To put it shortly, I eventually got an Indian manager for one of the businesses and it worked like magic. Business began to be good. Profit began to come in. For the first time, I could be away and still be confident and relaxed that my business is in good hands. Apparently, the business troubles we had been having weren't because of "bad economy", it was because of "bad workers" who were out to build houses on my head.

Today, the businesses are growing from strength to strength. All key positions are occupied by indians. If I'm starting a new business today, all key positions go to indians by default.

I have recommended the "indian solution" to so many business people, at least 5 of which have adopted it this year alone, and it has been good stories since then. Not a single one of them has regretted the decision.

The simple truth is that the average Nigerian is corrupt and is a thief. Those who have not stolen have not done so simply because of lack of opportunity.

And that's why our country is like this, after all, the leadership is a representation of the citizenry. Nigerians are a bad people and have rightly given rise to bad leaders.

Below is a post I made few years ago about this same issue.
If Indians are not corrupt, why do Nigerian businesspeople employ them to manage affairs? If you open the post by Ultron, you will find where he complained of constant theft by his Nigerian staff, even after changing employees countless times.
