Four children, can that be birthing anyhow?
Yes. The average Nigerian family shouldn't have more than a child or maximum two children.

It seems, as well as last year, there will be a lot of very high JAMB scorers this year. Too unfortunate that JAMB stopped announcing the top scorers.

To return home because most would. Before these proposed changes, the costs involved just to become a citizen were ridiculously high. Then imagine with say two children. I read some still carry their born born mentality enter UK. I recall one lady on Facebook narrating how she took on more shifts so she could support her husband, so they could cater for their four children.

They go about birthing children anyhow, even across the Mediterranean grin grin grin grin grin grin

I think the doubling from 5 years to 10 years is for ILR/settlement not citizenship, it's not clear yet what changes they are proposing for ILR to citizenship.

Yes, I later realised with my last comment before this one. I had to check the Financial Times to be sure. The increment is brutal, I won't lie. Permanent residency o, not citizenship. Black British babes go become hot commodity out-competiting cocoa. shocked grin

I know he has lots of youthful vans, of whom are quite carried away, and some of them here may even start abusing now instead of perhaps looking a bit inwards. That's just my opinion.
Does this apply to celebrity musicians as well?

Anyone who decides to imitate such a lifestyle should understand the terms and conditions involved. Such a dressing is applicable in some industries, but not other industries.

Most netizens Nigerians in the Anglosphere lampoon those who don't vote for liberal parties on the basis of open borders. I wonder what they have to say now that a major darling liberal party has instituted very harsh restrictions on immigration.

But damn! The restrictions are harsh! The UK is beginning to look like East Asian countries. grin grin

They will come for you.

Apparently Trump should prioritize them over his own kind. I always say that Naijas are the most out- of touch with reality people to ever encounter. They like to project. Since they'd discriminate, oppress and look down on themselves, they think everyone out there reasons the same cheesy grin grin
To be fair though, humans are generally very tribal. But Nigerians lack the moral rights to accuse others, especially those who have built functioning societies of tribalism or racism. I'm glad the White man is becoming more nationalistic. Some people thought they had the monopoly of tribalism. The White man will teach them he initiated segregation.

RichBoy247:
Nigerian Developers live him.

He is chasing North and South American refugees and African refugees, but bringing in illegal white immigrants from South Africa and labelling them refugees
We know what you meant by that sentence. So, how are you any different from Trump?

Anyway Trump and his brothers in Europe will teach you people a thing or two about segregation.

The agreement is for mutual tariff reduction.
China had insisted on eliminating the tariff as a prelude to serious negotiations.
Trump mused about a cut to 80%. 30% is nice.

Now negotiations for a comprehensive trade deal will commence.

Also, Trump has made a buy recommendation for stocks twice.
The first time was before the global tariff reprieve.
The second came last week before this tariff slash.

-Lord
So far, to be honest and fair, the Chinese have negotiated hard enough. Way much better than the Japanese during the '90s. If the Japanese had negotiated this way or even better, the Lost Decades wouldn't have happened as a result of the Plaza Accord.

Ultimately, it's not just the tarrifs that the US-led West has against China, but the ferocious marketing and market overtaking by Chinese companies across the world and China's growing scientific strength.

US Trade Rep Greer alludes to an agreement between US and China.
Details to emerge tomorrow.
You don't hash out a deal in a weekend, so he likely means the negotiators have agreed on some component within the ongoing discussion.
But he snuck in that agreement keyword so stocks moon tomorrow.
Wahala for who no buy the dip.

In any case, I've maintained that the US and China will strike a trade deal.
We're closer than ever to this inevitability.

-Lord
A deal has been reached, 90 days sha. I'm yet to read the full details, but so far, tarrifs on Chinese goods will be reduced to 30% by the US and 10% on US goods by the Chinese.

A big day for Labour tomorrow with their Immigration White Paper expected to announce a raft of tough new measures on immigration.

Other reported measures include changes to the PSW route, changes to the ILR route for some migrants and visa restrictions for some countries.

Labour sounding more like the Tories/Reform but they insist that these changes were already on the table before their local election defeat and that it's not just a ploy to win back voters.
Very predictable. A Nairalander predicted this almost a year ago. Folks have to be mentally prepared to accept that they might not or will not be able to attain permanent residency due to the lengthy years and costs involved. For some, it might take almost a decade to fully become a British passport holder (alongside their family members). For that reason, if you see say it will cost you so much in terms of mental health, finances and otherwise, moving back to Nigeria shouldn't be an issue.

Such is life.

I'm curious to know how the writer of this post got his or hers info, because what I do know this, Uthman Dan Fodio university is bigger than most of the universities mentioned. That school has about 14 very big villages inside it.

I mean, after you see the sign "Welcome to Uthman Dan Fodio university, you still have to drive like almost close to an hour or more before to get to the campus. Men, that school is really big.
Any number attached to how big Uthman Dan Fodio is? Like how many hectares? Acres?

Also, they didn't combine both campuses of UNN.

One, Nigerians aren't good debtors, regardless of income level. Two, you need electricity to power the charging stations for EV cars. For a people who complain about Band A cost of electricity, they don't have the financial capacity to buy and maintain EVs.

I will keep singing it to ypur eyes. Don't be dumb. Even if u import a 2020 car,to nigeria. Nigeria itself is hell fire. The car won't withstand all the bullshit that comes with riding in naija, give the car just 3months,it would start shorting oil, gulping fuel,ac would pack up,electronics would malfunction, gear would spoil. The point is nigeria is a dead country and a 2020 car and engine is too fragile...if I plan to import any car. From 2010 to 2013 max. Old cars are stronger.. nigeria sells fake engine oils, fake gear oil, fake petrol, fake ac gas, fake car parts, just name it. I regret everyday being a Nigerian.
So how do owners with exotic cars in dem Lekki, VI and Abuja cope? Those oil&gas employees, crypto players etc.

On this issue of STEM Vs non-STEM, I've shared it here before.
STEm is simply higher than non-STEM. Some bros here might disagree though.
I studied a STEM course(maths), some years later, took UTME and now studying the social sciences(Psychology). I cannot even lie, the difference is as clear as daylight.
Despite the fact that I was much younger, had no responsibilities and had sponsors, I had to study a whole LOT to get decent grades whereas in this Psychology, where responsibilities choke, trying to hustle, I'm basically crusing and still perform well.

I had to take my class tutorials in Stats on topics like correlation, regression etc-topics they find very difficult and looks like Greek to them- whereas, these are just basic in maths.

The difficulty level for both(STEM & non-STEM) are miles apart, abeg.
A simple way to judge this is to check the courses and career paths chosen by top JAMB (UTME) and WAEC (WASSCE) scorers in Nigeria. The majority chose STEM/quant-based courses.

The data is clear. Anyone who disagrees should provide a stronger and data driven argument.

Here: https://www.nairaland.com/8184851/top-waec-scorers-2009-where and here: https://www.nairaland.com/7763389/top-jamb-scorers-where-today

To add, a one-time BGS from Federal University of Markudi, whose story got on Nairaland front page, dropped out of Physics in his third year to study Philosophy and made a first class. Afterwards, he became a pastor.

Interesting responses.

Mine are:

- Not learning mathematics deeply while in secondary school and in the university.
- Not making a first class
- Not much of an issue, but not knowing how to toast/woo ladies while in the university.
