This is fake news. There's not a single African country that has been given visa-free status by the Canadian Government. Not even Seychelles. Don't believe everything these people say especially if it's not coming from official government sources.

Lol, as someone who regularly travels back and forth between The UK and Nigeria, every country has its problems. Happiness doesn't come from emigrating or from staying in a place. It comes from within. Yes, your environment matters but many countries have their own issues. As I have always preached on this forum, try and create options for yourself and your descendant. Once you have done that, you can choose which country you want to "endure". The poster and the Nigerian lady he is using as a reference, did not travel abroad with a purpose in mind. They JAPAed thinking that abroad will give them the soft life that they couldn't get in Nigeria . Abroad isn't designed for you to live and retire there. You are there to get what you can from the system and go to a place where you feel that you will get peace of mind.

You think that they (the US Government) cares? As long as you are from what they perceive as a "third world country", your chances of getting a visa is slim. They don't care that you are part of the global rich. I can guarantee you that a waiter from Spain or plumber from Italy has better chances of entering the US than a multi-millionaire from the "global south". It's called neo-colonialism and mobility disparity.

The job market in many parts of the world is tough. I am not defending this incompetent Government but these are facts. In the States, UK, Canada, Europe and even Asia, many graduates are struggling to get a job. Many have been unemployed for years before getting a paying job. The main difference is that most of these countries have a social welfare package that helps graduates to manage themselves until they can find their feet unlike Nigeria. My best advice to graduates is to think outside the box, look into content, apply to as many organizations as possible or raise enough capital to start a small business. The job market is brutal out there and it's only going to get worse due to the advent of A.I.

Depends on the state and city. If you reside in Lagos, as a single person, you need at least N600K to have a comfortable life. Within that same Lagos, the area you stay also determines your income. If you live in ,Lekki for example, you need to be on at least N800k in order to be comfortable when you factor in rent, transportation, feeding, electricity and other expenses. If you live on the mainland, like say Bariga or Gbagada, you need to be on at least N400k to have a decent life. This is for single people mind you. For married people or single parents, you need twice as much when you consider feeding, school fees, toys, transportation, clothes for kids and pampers (for those with babies). The reason why you need to earn a very high income is due to inflation. The value of the Naira is nothing worth talking about. N200K today is N50k fifteen years ago.

You get me! I have spent 1/8th of my life in the UK and there's no way a black man can get away with sleeping with random English or Scottish girls and filming them. They will cancel you ASAP! If school is a scam, why is Daddy Freeze allowing his kids and stepchildren to go to school? He should withdraw them from school and encourage them to learn blogging or what Peller is doing. Going to school is more than just learning how to make money. People form relationships and business contacts in school. You can't get that from blogging. This message is for the Nigerian working class and underclass (lower middle-class included). While Nigerians destroy themselves along the lines of tribe, religion and politics, your elites (irrespective of tribe/religion/politics) have ensured that they and their offsprings have back-up plans. They have insured that they have secured a long-term future for themselves and their descendants.

Let me give numerous examples: Jagaban has properties in at least 3 countries. He has a house in London which he has owned for at least 30 years, he has a house in France, he has properties in the US. His daughters with Remi shuttle between LA and NY and I believe are citizens. Seyi is a UK citizen as he has spent quarter of his life in the UK. His child with Leya (his lebanese wife) was born in London. Atiku spends most of his time in Dubai and only shows up in Nigeria during elections. He has a house in Maryland and D.C. Most of his kids were educated abroad. Peter Obi's kids studied in the UK. His oldest child is still based there. If the Panama reports are to be true, he has companies outside Nigeria. At least 90% the past and present Governors, senators, deputy Governors and local government chairmen's kids studied abroad. I should know. Some of them were my classmates.

MC Oluomo, has,on numerous occasions, bragged that he's a US citizen and all his kids are US citizens. Majority of your celebrities had their kids abroad. Davido is a US citizen and has a house in Atlanta. Psquare also own homes in Atlanta and all their kids are US citizens. Toolz is a British citizen. Even clowns like Daddy Freeze have dual-citizenship (his mum is Romanian) yet, he's always mocking Nigerian who JAPA abroad. Even your Pastors have properties, bank accounts and other assets abroad.

All I am saying is that the average Nigerian should think for themselves because if s**t hits the fan, they (the elites) will leave you lots behind. In my office complex, which contains about 10 offices, half the owners have dual citizenship. Look at Simon Ekpa, who's a Finnish citizen and politician, but was causing chaos in his region from the comfort of his Finnish base. This message goes beyond politics and other issues. It's about understanding the average Nigerian with opportunities is after their own self-preservation. They don't care about you or the country.

They don't have money but yet the money they send to Nigeria is the country's second largest source of income after oil exports. Nigerians in the Diaspora are the single largest investors in the country. They are the ones that support families, sponsor relatives to school, buy land, set up start ups and keep the economy going. If not for Nigerian abroad, the country would have collapsed. Majority of the people that come to Nigeria for dirty december are Nigerians in the diaspora. You lots in Nigeria, what is your economic/financial contribution to the country if not mouth?? Very ungrateful lots.

Let's not forget that he called the First Lady of a country (Patience Jonathan) a "hippotamous" and said many demeaning things to Jonathan a President of a country who's also someone's father and grandfather. Respect has to be earned. He publicly said that he was going to tear his green card and refused to honor an invitation by the U.S. Embassy about his B1/B2 visiting visa. If I were you, I would choose Austria. Yes, Japan is far superior to Austria economically but if you plan to stay abroad in the long-term, Japan isn't it. No chances of becoming a naturalized citizen in Japan compared to Austria and Japanese is not an easy language to learn compared to German. Austria gives you access to 28 schengen countries and 32 EU countries. If things don't work out for you in Austria, you can always port to a neighbouring schengen country. Plus, school fees in Austria is much cheaper than Japan. Consider your pocket. Don't get me wrong, Japan is better in terms of job opportunities, world class schools and more vibrant than Austria but if you are considering living abroad in the long run with the goal of securing a second passport, Japan is not it. My two cents.

Tenza, you need to be more specific when you are talking about dating abroad as a Nigerian man. "Abroad" is any country outside Nigeria. Even Cameroon (believe or not) is abroad. Dating in Chile, where you are based, different from dating in the UK or dating in Canada, or dating in Finland, or dating in Germany, or dating in Ireland. Each country's dating dynamics is different.

Especially now that they are making it difficult for migrants to bring their families over. Also migrate when you are in your prime. It gets harder as you get older. When i tell people to Japa before the age of 40, I was mocked and insulted on this forum. At 40, if you have spent all your life in Nigeria, you will find it difficult to assimilate into western society. There are many Nigerians over the age of 40 that have successfully migrated abroad but ask yourself this question: what percentage are successful compared to others from the same age group? I migrated abroad straight after secondary school. It was easier for me to fit in. At the age I am in now, it will be very difficult to migrate abroad except I have no choice.

The best way to japa is when you're still single. You'd make it faster with a clear sense of direction, judging from experience. Also, once you've clocked 40s, please dont take the entire family with you at first, or you'd be feeding from hand to mouth and over stress yourself to make ends meet. Life no hard, it's what you make it.

Go, work and take care of your family back home. You may decide to stay back at work and do overtime. Or you combine 2 jobs together, you may even be away for the whole week from home, hustling. Love is incomplete without money oo, put that in your left palm so you don't feed with it.. With your family with you, you cant achieve much. Don't expect any white collar job when you get there at 40s, even as a single youth but if it comes your way, grab it. Put your children in good schools back home, you're still spending far less in best schools locally, compared to the fees and expenses over there. Maintain just one room where you can sleep and wake up. With your family with you, you know that's not possible .

Once you're fully settled with some reliable investments back home and children education well sorted out, then you may invite them over for holidays, until they finally move and this time, they're graduates seeking to further. Wife too won't have to work under stress.

At least 95% of politicians children didn't study in this country. Majority of your elites had their children abroad. Jagaban has properties in at least 4 countries. None of his kids studied in Nigeria. Atiku has spent the better part of the last 7 years in Dubai. He's only in Nigeria when he's contesting for elections. Obi's kids didn't study in Nigeria despite him arguing otherwise. Davido did his white wedding in Miami instead of Lagos despite Nigeria giving him a platform to become famous. The only patriotic Nigerian is the poor Nigerian that has zero options. A word is enough for the wise.

Nigerian men, especially those from the East, won't listen. Most of them have this believe that it's easier to "control" a young (18-23) "virgin" village girl from a poor background that's not educated. They feel that such women are more "submissive" and "loyal". They don't know that they are the most dangerous ones. If you as a man want to settle abroad, it's better to date someone in the system. At least you know what you are getting yourself into. Women from poor background are the worst. Most of them are ungrateful.

So tired of this JAPA news about loss of family. In this globalized era, many cannot stay in one place. Even in Nigeria, how many are based in their village or local government of origin? For me, most of my extended family members grew up abroad so it's not really much of a big deal. On my maternal side, majority were born and bred in the UK. Others are based in Australia, the U.S. & Canada. On my paternal side, i've assisted three to migrate to the UK & Canada. As long as you keep in touch via phone, whatsApp or social media, that's all that matters.

N5 million is inadequate for Japa. You need at least N20million to be on the safe side. My advise: look for a remote job online and earn in forex. After two or 3 years experience working for a foreign company remotely, you can apply for skilled work visa to a country that makes sense. Option 2: apply for a scholarship to a Latin American country that makes sense (Brazil, Chile, Mexico) and get your passport within 5 years. You don't rush to JAPA to any country. You plan.

I'm not surprised. This has been going on for decades even before the return to democracy in 1999. Many Nigerians are slaves in their own country but these same Nigerians will mock Nigerians abroad as "second class citizens". At least, a Nigerian abroad is not in delusion of his/her status abroad and can always move back to Nigeria and a comfortable life than many home-based Nigerians that have no options. As I have always said, a long as you are from a poor family, you are a second-class citizen in Nigeria.

You can't even blame these foreigners. They observe the way you lots treat your staff, drivers, gatemen, househelp or anyone socially below you and act accordingly. They see how your policemen and soldiers have reduced themselves to errand boys for anyone that has money and do the same. The buck stops with the average Nigerian.

As an immigration lawyer, I will be blunt: what's happening to Nigeria is a result of numerous factors. Issue number one: Nigeria only issues 3 months single entry visa to foreigners. You can apply for multiple entry visas but it's not more than 90days. Meanwhile, the U.S. issues Nigerians 5 years B1/B2 tourist visa. So, there's the issue of doctrine of reciprocity. Issue number two: It's also geopolitics as Nigeria has been invited to join the BRICS countries and Trump is against any country joining BRICS. Issue number 3: This is also a result of lack of diplomatic efforts by Nigerian officials. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassadors and other diplomats are not proactive in securing Nigeria's interests. Lastly: Nigeria need to sort itself out in order to avoid disrespect from other countries. We are only a "giant" in name but not where it really matters.
