The first picture is more middle class than rich. The upper-class and super rich as of 2000 had a much spacious and modern living room. The speakers were NOT on top of the TV. I spent my whole life in Ikoyi and I can tell you for free that our living room was more modern than that as of 2000. Everything wasn't in one cupboard. The TV and VCR were on point though.

You lots keep giving unnecessary attention to these slay queens from poor/impoverished homes. Stop giving these clowns any attention. I've said so many times that the worst thing you can do as a Nigerian man is to date/marry a Nigerian woman from a very poor home. They can NEVER be satisfied no matter what you do for them. That's why Yahoo boys use them for rituals.

This is 100% true. I'm into immigration practice and Nigerian visas are very difficult to get. Many foreigners complain about the difficulty of obtaining a Nigerian visa. As for Nigerian citizenship, not only is it very long and strenuous, foreign men married to Nigerian women aren't entitled to Nigerian citizenship. This is why it is so difficult for Nigeria to attract foreign investors. Our immigration rules are very stringent.
EnglandAmaka:
I have told several people this but they don’t want to believe that Nigerian visa is hard to get.
It’s funny though but that’s the truth.

Nigerian visa is the among the hardest to get in the world. It is easier to get an American visa than a Nigerian one. I know say many of you don't know this.
E dey hard for foreigners to get it, and Nigerian citizenship is like almost impossible. It takes over 15 years while America is about 7 years.

Bros, having a second passport has nothing to do with the Government or being proud of being a Nigerian. Messi is a dual Argentine/Spanish national but he's very Argentine to the core. Most British actors in Hollywood hold dual nationality but they are still proud of being British. A lot of Brits are acquiring second passports due to Brexit despite the fact that the British passport is one of the strongest passports in the world. Many rich Russians, Chinese and Eastern Europeans are buying second passports due to the limitation of their own countries passports. Most Latin American countries have visa-free access to Europe despite the fact that a lot of those countries are economically and politically unstable. Do you know that most countries in the Middle East bar UAE and Israel need visas to travel to most parts of the world despite their wealth?

Dual nationality is a global phenomenon that is here to stay. We are in a globalized world where freedom of movement is seen as an essential right. Many countries are gradually amending their nationality laws to enable dual nationality. Open your mind to what's happening globally. You talk about being proud to be a Nigerian but most don't even like each other simply because of tribal differences. Let's be honest with ourselves.

Finally, no sane
BigDawsNet:
If not for our government.

Why do we need second passport? We should be proud as a Nigerians... but dere are many factors pursuing our citizens out of the country...

Now it's even extremely expensive to japa in peace...
People should be careful exploring South American countries... they hav dere own mess... go tru studies or work visa to help you settle quick...

Goodluck

For those who are dead set on migrating out of the country, you may have to think outside the box in order to accomplish your goal of reaching your ideal destination. The ideal destinations for most Nigerians are the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Germany, Australia and to some extent Ireland. This is understandable as those countries have the largest number of Nigerians outside Africa. However, migrating to those countries is a VERY expensive venture. Not only that, bar Canada, citizenship in those countries is a very long process.

The goal for any Nigerian who intends to Japa should be to attain citizenship which will give them freedom of movement and certain rights. No point spending so much money on student and work visas only for you to end up back in Nigeria.

There are many ways to go about this. For example, I know someone from my time in NYSC who acquired Finnish citizenship. He obtained his first degree in Nigeria before moving to Finland to further his education. At the time, tuition fees were free for international students. He also obtained his citizenship within 6-7 years. He then moved to the UK after his NYSC before Brexit. He did all this without paying N20 million on tuition fees and he has freedom of movement within the EU.

Now, you might say that Europe is now very difficult to migrate to which is true. That's why you need to look at EU countries that guarantee easy visas and use them as a step up to the big boys like Germany or France. South America is another option. Citizenship in Brazil is guaranteed within 3 years or so. With a Brazilian passport, you can travel to 173 countries visa free. Also Brazilian passport holders have freedom of movement live in Portugal. That's your entry to the EU right there. In Chile, citizenship is guaranteed in less than 5 years I believe and Chilean passport holders can work (for a certain time) in the States under a trade agreement.

Remember, the goal is to acquire citizenship and not spend more than your budget. Don't spend so much to JAPA only to cry that abroad is tough and you don't have their passport to show for it.

You can always spot women from poor backgrounds. They are extremely entitled, proud and cannot hide their poverty. If you investigate her family background now, her father may not even own a house and is earning less than N200k per month.Anyways, women like her know who they can chat rubbish to. She doesn't have the guts to say such to men from affluent backgrounds. That's why I respect Kiddwaya. He put all of them in their place. If you are doing well for yourself as a man, please avoid women from impoverished backgrounds by any means necessary. They will finish you and leave you for another MAGA.

TravelRe: Nigeria Excluded As UAE Announces 5-Year Multiple-entry Tourist Visa by gforce5: 10:59am On Mar 12, 2024
This is the crux of the matter. Other African countries aren't facing the same restrictions like Nigerians because they know how to behave themselves. Other nationalities are involved in criminal activities but Nigerians are the loudest. They don't even hide it. UAE visa was one of the easiest visas to get but Nigerians have messed it up. All sorts of characters flooded UAE and brought their bad character along with them. That's why I don't blame Embassies for doing financial background checks on Nigerians before issuing them a visa. They can't afford to allow any miscreant to mess up their country. No reasonable country would remove visa requirements for Nigerians because we tend to abuse the priviledges given to us.

InvertedHammer:
/
This has nothing to do with FG.
While citizens of other countries went to Dubai for construction and commercial activities, Nigerians exported their curses to UAE. You had able-bodied Nigerian men moving around causing havoc in the streets, cult clashes and drug/liquor dealing. No reasonable country should open their gates to them.

You have said all there is to be said. Education is the best form of birth-control. The more educated a population is, the more self-aware they become. Societies with high literacy rates tend to have lower birth rates. If you observe countries with literacy rates above 70R%, they tend to have issues with marriage and child bearing. It's the same way people who are rich and educated tend to have fewer children than people who are poor and illiterate. Nevertheless, education is crucial for the prosperity of any country.

eepeepook:
Education is the best form of birth control. Only an educated person can draw out future lifestyle projections based on their current earnings. Children are not a cheap affair. Costs rise as they grow older. High birth rates are a degree to ascertain how literate a population is. It is a double-edged sword, however. The white man can drop population numbers by educating rival nations. The outcome will see an influx of literate migrants ready to compete with former masters for jobs.

They go hand in hand. Binance, crypto and yahoo boys are easier targets and scapegoats. Meanwhile the real Yahoo boys are the bankers who swindle millions of people out of their hard earned money.

I've said it on numerous occasions that the Nigerian elite don't want the masses to prosper. Akin, of all people, has no right to talk about staying in Nigeria. A man who spent a quarter of his life in the States and is most likely a U.S. citizen is not in any position to discourage people from JAPA. They just want you to be disadvantaged, trapped and subjugated. It's easier for them to oppress and manipulate the poor.

Gerrard59:
I thought it was Femi Adesina, so I didn't bother to open the thread, but upon reading through, it was Akin - a man who had his PhD from Purdue University and worked in both the EU and the US. This man is a naturalised American o.

Ironic coming from a man who spent half his professional career abroad. I am 100% sure that none of his children live in Nigeria and would most likely have second passports. It's the gullible sheep on this forum and in that audience that would be clapping for him. Just know that the elite don't want your progress. A trapped man is very easy to manipulate and control.

This is the only comment on the thread that makes sense. Davido messed up by turning a local champion into a celebrity. You don't see any other member of his crew make noise like this guy. Not even Peruzzi who's a f**k boy. The small money he made from David got to his head and made him believe that no woman can turn away from him. He's talking about the babe being uncultured but he insulted her whole famiy on social media. Who does that? That's gutter like behaviour. Other women are looking at his comments and will avoid him like a plague. Only a desperate poverty-stricken girl would want to marry him. If he had made himself to be attractive to women, he would not be writing this epistle. Women would be flocking to him in droves.

OP, if you are below the age of 30, Japa now while you can. You have age on your side. Don't wait until you are 30 plus before you do it. Also, emigration now is a very expensive procedure. Can you afford it? It is harder to emigrate now than it was 10/15 years ago. Also note that many countries are blocking the study route for JAPA. The UK and Canada have cancelled post- study work visa. Australia is considering limiting the number of students coming to their country, South Korea also doing the same. Think very carefully about where you want to migrate to. What ever you do, please migrate legally and as soon as possible. Once dollar hits N3000, it would be extremely difficult for you to even afford a flight ticket abroad.

That's the reality of being a Nigerian passport holder. Nigerians need visas to travel to most countries outside Nigeria. What other countries take for granted is a priviledge in Nigeria. If you need to be well-off in order to be issued a visa, it says a lot about your country and it's standing across the globe. We just aren't ready for that conversation.
beautyuche:
This topic most Nigerians are not ready to face. Since I am not able to change mine now so I decided to change the narrative for my kids.

Most of the commenters haven't seen money. That's why N200K is big to them. A lot of them don't understand economics. N200k is not what it was ten years ago during Jonathan's regime. In this Tinubunomics era, that amount is the equivalent of N100k or less. A lot of these guys aren't exposed and come from very humble homes. If not, they would understand that the cost of living crisis is affecting even high income earners. Your car alone will gulp a quarter of your salary. Where you live also determines your cost of living and lifestyle. If you live on the Island, that amount isn't much. A lot of these people here talking about providing for their families with a lesser amount have not asked themselves what kind of food /lifestyle are they living with that kind of salary. Everybody's reality is different.
PepeXKermit:

If i was born ten years later, my folks wouldn't have been able to send me to the best schools abroad. I went to a private boarding school in the early 2000s. It's impossible to do that now. I thank God that I'm a millennial. Many of us who migrated in the early 2000s were very lucky. Especially before the 2008 recession. I have indirectly guided 3 of my relatives to migrate out of the country. One is a citizen in Canada, the other is in the process of qualifying for indefinite leave to remain in the UK. I have advised many people to have their children in the States or Canada where citizenship by birth is automatic. The situation of Nigeria makes me sad. A lot of good decent people are denied visas due to the passport they carry. Many young people cannot travel for international conferences due to that Nigerian passport. A lot of people cannot tour the globe like their counterparts in other parts of the world due to the limitation that passport imposes.
pansophist:
This thing honestly makes me sad. I'm not affected by it but it pains me really.

And many are being born today, without knowing the hardship that awaits them in the future, just due to the accident of birth, which is, to be born a Nigerian.

Yes, that's true. Flights from Ghana, Togo and Benin Republic are much cheaper than flights from Nigeria. This country is anti-business. Nigerians need a transit visa to travel anywhere. It's messed up. Just look up the visa policies for most countries in the world and you will realize how crap that Nigerian passport is. Most countries require Nigerian passport holders to not only have a visa but also a transit visa.

A few years ago, I was on my way back to Naija from South Korea via Ethihad. My flight arrived very early in the morning (5am) and my connecting flight wasn't until 10pm in the evening. Since I didn't need a transit visa, I just left the airport, lodged at a nearby hotel, and went into town (Abu Dhabi). The other Nigerians from the same flight were stuck in the airport as they didn't have a transit visa grin. People don't understand how limiting that passport is. They think that everything is about money.

pansophist:
Not only do Nigerian need visa to all places, Nigerian passport also needs transit visa.

If Burundi, the poorest nation on earth don't need a transit visa through UK/Schengen, then why Nigerians? This situation is just bad, as in, very bad.

For example nigerian passport don't need a visa to visit Barbados, but it's impossible to visit it since you must transit through the UK, and you must apply for a transit visa first.

I know! Nigerians don't understand that they are being ripped off big time. My last trip to New York from London (2018), my return ticket was about $400. It cost that much because I bought my ticket at the last minute. I didn't even carry my Nigerian passport as I am part of the visa waiver program grin. I did my ESTA two days before my trip. Meanwhile, Nigerians in Nigeria would go through hell just to get an interview with the U.S. Embassy and there is a high chance that they may be rejected. Once you succeed in acquiring said visa, you are only given 5 years. It was previously 3 years grin. Yet, you see the so-called "big boys and girls" bragging about acquiring a 5 year visa while their counterparts in Namibia are issued a 10 year visa. cheesy grin S**t, even Indians, Jordanians and Kazaks are issued 10 year U.S. visas. Nigeria is not rated in the international community.

TravelThe Poor State Of The Nigerian Passport And Nigeria As A Whole by gforce5(op): 4:54pm On Feb 26, 2024
I had a conversation with pansophist, Tenzagent and Gerrard a few days ago about the ease of traveling within the West/developed world and the poor state of the Nigerian passport. As an Immigration lawyer, I help clients to process their documents and give them immigration advice. What got to me is that as a Nigerian, you need to have a certain amount of money just to get a visa... Take the British High Commission for example. You need to show proof of a decent bank account for the pass 6 months in order for them to process your visa. In most embassies, you need to show proof that you have good "ties" to your country. Just think about it. You need to prove that you are very comfortable in order to obtain a visa.

Meanwhile, Freddy based in Ipswich, England, with no money in his account, can travel to Spain or Morocco with only his passport and the total price for a return ticket is 100 pounds grin. Even better, Pierre the security guard in Marseille, can decide to travel to Germany, Austria, Italy and Spain with only his ID card and the total cost of the trip, if he books on time, would be nothing more than 300 Euros grin. Meanwhile, Wale, a chartered accountant based in Lagos, would have to have at least N3million in his bank account in order to get a visa and a decent flight ticket to that same Spain lipsrsealed. Just think about it. Nigerians are taking for mugs by both our fellow Nigerians and the international community.

As yourself why a British Airways flight ticket from London to Lagos costs about $2000 for a six hour flight while a flight ticket from London to New York is about $600 if you book in advance. A flight ticket from Lagos to London is the same amount as a flight ticket from London to Johannesburg. This is despite the fact that a flight from London to Jo'berg is 10 hours.

So when I see Nigerians brag that all you need is money to enjoy Nigeria. If you need to be rich just to enjoy the basics of life then you live in a third world country. If you need to be very comfortable in order to travel for holiday, then it says a lot about your country.

"Good business" in Nigeria lol. This is so funny. What "business" can N2 million do for you in Nigeria? Have you not observed that so many businesses are on the verge of collapse due to the exchange rate and cost of doing business in Nigeria? Do you know how many businessmen are complaining bitterly about the cost of doing business in Nigeria? If your business is not an essential one like food, drugs, water or petrol, forget it.

mu2sa2:
Why the fixation with japa? You have N2m, how many Nigerians have even 100K to start a business in Nigeria? Btw, that's about 1200$ at current exchange rate. That's just pocket money in US, Canada or Europe. But in Nigeria with that money you can start a good business and watch your money grow. There are lots of Nigerians languishing abroad as a result of japa gone wrong - don't go and join them.

Nigeria is a fall back option for many people when things don't go well abroad. Know this and know peace. It's the very reason many of us are here. The same thing with non-Nigerians like Peseiro. Nigeria is an option for people who aren't doing well in the very competitive western world. We should focus more on home-players who are hungry and have no plan "B" if things go south.
TravelRe: Why Have The Anti Japa Guys Stopped Opening Threads??? by gforce5: 12:51pm On Feb 20, 2024
It is lucrative BUT many of us are struggling to get clients due to the fact that Immigration lawyers aren't well known in this country. Majority of Nigerians who intend to Japa, would rather consult a travel agent than a lawyer who is knowledgeable about immigration laws. They want someone who will guarantee them a quick result. As a lawyer, you are under an obligation to tell your client the truth. Agents, on the other hand, aren't under such obligations and tell their clients what they want to hear.

As for Henley and Partners, those guys are making a killing. I told my friends many years ago that with the way the Nigerian passport is crashing, it's only a matter of time before Henley & Partners move in as many rich Nigerians would be forced to get a second passport. That is the elite's version of JAPA. With a population of over 200 million people, Nigeria is a market that Henley & firms cannot ignore. There are many Nigerians with raw cash that can afford those passports. It's the masses I pity the most. They don't understand what's coming.

Gerrard59:
It seems this niche is very lucrative these days. I know Henley and Partners has a Lagos office and an Abuja office (correct me if I am wrong on this part). But is the demand so high? If yes, which countries are clients interested in? What are the profiles of your clients (age ranges, what they do for a living, why they are patronising you and your colleagues etc).

I understand the legal field is high on confidentiality, but this is an anonymous forum. grin

Nigeria has happened to them. That's why. Japa is now very expensive. You need at least N15million to Japa to the west. Not only that, many countries are tightening their immigration rules. The UK and Canada (the two biggest recipients of international students from Nigeria) have implemented measures to restrict the number of international students coming to their respective countries. France, Holland and many EU countries have also tightened their borders. Even South Korea is reducing it's intake of international students. This is the worst time for Nigerians to Japa. The anti-Japa crew know this and have gleefully decided to keep quiet. It's a field day for us immigration lawyers. Best of luck to all those intending to emigrate. It's not easy at all. In my time it was easier (early 2000s). Mad respect to parents who can send their offspring abroad for further education. Not easy at all.
