lawnreigh: Good Afternoon Nairalanders, I really need your advice my people, I work in a production company owned Chinese as an Asst. HR, although I was recently employed there, I asked my Manager who happens to be a Nigerian about employment letter at least if I'm not collecting it in the beginning (probation period) I should be able to know the duration which the probation period will end and I will be able to collect my employment letter. To my greatest surprise my Manager told me that they don't give employment letter that funny enough he hasn't been given one too. It was so surprising and demoralizing, he now told me to meet our General Manager(Chinese) and ask him about it. After asking him, he dodged the question and told me that he will consider it latter and all that. My Manager already told me that will be his response and that they don't give people letter in order to avoid litigation in it comes up. To the Lawyers and experienced people on this forum, I need your advice Note: This people can make you work for 24hrs and they pay stipend that doesn't commensurate with my certificate coupled with the fact that I speak Chinese (intermediate). Moreover I've seen them dismiss people in cold blood(Factory Workers), they axe at will, no severance package, benefits etc but the fear of unemployment is also the beginning of wisdom considering the fact that there are little job out there with thousands of Job Seekers. Please matured advice only If you can forward the details of the company and your allegation to my Email, I will write a petition & copy all the appropriate authorities, including the Ministry of Labour & productivity, not just for your sake, but for the sake of the dignity of others. |

Fyi abuja is d seat of govt I agree with you partially, Kubwa is also not a highbrow area, but the house rent there is unreasonably high. you can't compare house rent in Abuja to Lagos or any other State in Nigeria. House rent in Abuja in evil and unreasonably high. |

4evergod2: Don't put this on God. God did not allow anything. They could have been doing her a good service even just like Paul said. " for me to live is Christ and to die is great gain.
Regardless whats done is done. Woe unto whosoever did it but I pray they repent as I do not wish them death but life. God did not caused it, but he allowed it. Can anything happen without the knowledge of God? Did God not have the power to stop it? Did he stop it? Anyways, in every situation we should give thanks to God at least that's what the bible says. |

And the story could be made up to defame the church . We should be aware of such calumnies Check Sahara Reporters, Vanguard news, The Nation. Nairaland is the 4th medium I am reading this story this morning. |

Before you crucify me, check my moniker, I'm a full blooded Yoruba man.
All I'm saying is we shouldn't politicise everything in order to get likes from our ilks. Nigerian youths of today have to be constructively critical. Your President have no authority to choose who become an "SAN", it is not a political appointment, if it were so he would have certainly Northernise it. Furthermore are you not aware of the educational backwardness of the North?. Please, stop trying hard to win the heart of the Northerners. |

JAZES: and if i may ask, whats your definition of a better person: money or personality?
Its a shame that we define a person today in naija by the size of his bank account, the society looks down on you when u dont have money and worships the one who does forgetting that tomorrow the man who doesnt have today may have tomorrow. Most of the stories of great men we have today have next to nothing when they tie the knot. Am sure obama will never be able to afford that list when he married his wife, imagine if a thing as ephemeral as what its in the list above made Obama walk away, just imagine what Mitchell will be feeling today. Please lets get our priority right, that a man doesnt have money in his bank account today or cant afford something today doesnt mean he wont be able to tomorrow- lets stop defining God's best creation by pseudo things. . Thank you, but unfortunately they worship money in some part of Nigeria. |

Nazaretha: If one can't dance, don't nod to songs.
If he was financially buoyant, he wouldn't mumble a thing.
And, hope he knows, the lady will definitely get a better person. It is about the reasonability, not only about the money per se. Even millionaires in some part of Nigeria don't pay such for traditional wedding items, but they spend much more than that in helping the in-laws' family. It is all about greed and more greed. What you are to benefit from your in-law is not only during the wedding, it is a life time benefit. |
