Good afternoon mamas, I have 2 crèche on mind and I'm at a crossroad on which to pick.

1. It's opposite my house and it's a new school, although they have school elsewhere. they just built this annex in my street. The last time I checked there, they don't have any baby in crèche yet, and few pupils in other classes.

2. It's close to my house too as the street is behind us. The day I checked there, they have about 7 children in their crèche.

Hubby prefers the ones with children, he said DS will have friends to interact with.

Please mamas which one is better?

If he's up to 9 months old, then go for the one with kids. The learning and socializing to me is one of the few advantages of creche.

Yayy new page. 2003, i was in SS1. First term, I failed Maths and topped the class in food and nutrition. My father called me Food and Nut all through the holidays and made me spend all my time in the kitchen

Please Mums with 8 month old babies:

1. how did you get them to sleep all night? When will this vigil end biko?

2. Apart from their regular Cereals, fruit purees and rice puddings from Cow & Gate, what other nutritious (inexpensive) foods do you offer? My DD self-weaned already.

3. Also, what good hair products do you recommend for healthy hair growth?

At this age, she is ravenous... putting everything in sight in her mouth!

At 8 months, she can eat whatever you eat at home. Plantain porridge, Rice, beans, garri, blended pasta, (i like to blend the dry pasta before i cook) just put little or no pepper in her own meals and no bones.

As for sleeping at night, since she's been waened, try to start training her to sleep through the night. My method was to feed her as late as possible before she sleeps. (9-10pm) then not pick her up at night. If she wakes up I just tap her back until she sleeps back. If she's not sleeping back, I'd give water and keep tapping . Also make sure she's not too hot or too cold at night else she'd keep waking up. Didn't work for a long time cuz her dad would always pick her up and sing and feed and spoil her, but since we travelled and no daddy here, I've showed her who is boss She still wakes up eat every once in a while, and I feed her, esp if her last meal was before 7pm. I guess you would never stop totally waking up at night once you have kids, it just doesn't have to be every night.


Hair, I use water and shear butter mostly. I occasionally use other products to make life easier but I can't vouch for them.

All her excuses no longer work for me, from I want to poo poo, coughing, crying, twiddling her biggy biggy, scratching her hair and body, carrying the food in her mouth etc, now my teeth is the newest excuse on board.
She prefer ripe plantain raw, neither cooked nor fried. She can finish a bunch of it if you allow her.
No favorite food yet.

Hasn't she heard about banana. How are you managing to keep her alive May my lazy arse never have a non foodie baby. I have one niece that the only way they get her to eat is to get a stranger to be screaming at her while feeding. I once acted as the stranger 'OPEN YOUR MOUTH' 'SWALLOW IT NOW' . Crude method but the mom was out of options and the child was almost disappearing.

Please mamas now I have started flowing, not gushing yet but my baby had gotten used to the bottle nipple and now won't latch unto mine. He's so impatient. But he doesn't mind breast milk.

So my question is can I use electric pump for the whole duration of breastfeeding without needing him to suck from me?

In my experience, you just have to be patient, just keep working on your supply, and feed using both methods for now, he'd gradually start to prefer breast as the flow inmproves. In a few months now you would be struggling to get him to accept bottles if you want to resume work.

Yes, went with her dad. Was given bonjela and calcium syrup. Much better but is now a perfect excuse for her now to reject food. But she'll use the same teeth that is paining her to eat gala without wincing or crying.

Lol did she need an excuse before. At least she eats gala, give her gala and plantain and whatever she likes to eat, all day, everyday. You have energy.

Moms I'm tired and helpless. Teary even. For the past couple of months we've been battling cough and cataarh. My baby is 15months. Lifeline children's hospital is our go to clinic. In fact they know us there. I've had to buy nebulizer mask cos they constantly Do It for him every time we go there. My poor baby's cough is so deep and I feel so much for him. Don't know what to do again. As wary as they are against prescribing anti biotic there, they invariably have to. We've taken all sorts and kinds. Today now they've prescribed inhaler for him. Don't know te triggers again.

I've stopped regular fan/a.c. usage, in fact hubby moved outta the room for us claiming its too stuffy. I avoid him being around wen cooking things like soup or pepper or using cleaning agents and mosquitoes spray as much as possible. I've informed them at creche too upon that we're still here.

Have you tried keeping him away from Creche. I kept my baby home all through the summer holidays, and I couldn't believe we didn't have even one episode of cough the whole holidays. Same thing since I went on leave. Every time she resumes creche, give it as little as 2-3 days and she comes home with it.

Even the way the kids touch themselves sef is enough to spread infection, they prefer touching each other's palms and faces then putting same hands in their mouths. I know sometimes creche is the only option and you have to manage it like that, but the point is, maybe it's not something you're doing wrong.
