Thanks for your advice, Nigeria is totally out of it.
I got a better update on the story that I wouldn’t even want to share anymore here.

I have only socialized twice in a year for few hours close to my house.
Some people are making it look like i party every Friday. Anyway seems like I gave too much info.
Make Una take am easy oh 😂
You even had to ask for my age.
The issue of sending her to Nigeria was because the people around me was spreading too much fear

Thank you

inphoenix:
Please weigh your options before deciding on what is "best".

From personal and quite similar experience, I'll advice to please keep your child with you.

There is no law against leaving children at home and there is no set minimum age where a child can be left at home by themselves, what is considered is the child's maturity which the officers have been able to establish in your case.

What you will have a problem with is leaving a child alone overnight. The minimum age that will be permitted is 16.

Also, once the police has been called on ANY matter regarding a minor, social services must be involved, its standard procedure that is just usually a tick box exercise, except there really is a cause for concern, which I don't see from what you have explained here. A lot of scare mongering about social services "taking away children", but for that to happen, it must have been quite a bad situation or parents' are annoying or display oversabi attitude. They will escalate it for you for example if you use some "buzz words" or display some body language they look out for that Nigerians tend to use that set alarm bells ringing, so even if there is no real issues in their investigations, such utterances or attitude could land you in hot water.

Now back to you..., you certainly can do without the reason for which you have gone out late at night, can't you? I don't know how old you are, but come on now... there are certainly other ways and times to socialise, innit? 😀

My point is, if the only reason you are considering returning your child to Nigeria is because you want to enjoy the night life (as opposed to you needing to work nights for example, even then sef) then I think you can make that sacrifice for you to watch your child grow with you.

It might also interest you to note that when time comes to attend Uni, you can avoid paying overseas fees by virtue of "long residence" which going back to Nigeria might make a bit more challenging...

It’s not an Ego thing
I was good with all my former neighbors
( Nigerians) till they moved out. We can’t be friendlywith everyone
I can’t get them on my side because we don’t even have any issues to start with.
We greet and ask after her kids
I don’t see any issue there

bigtt76:
Sounds like an ego problem? I would advise that you try to amend and make friends with them. They might be the ones ratting you out just to pepper you. They also might not be the ones but trust the authorities they would've been interviewed about your personality in the neighbourhood. Make that call and try to get them on your side if your personal reasons allow that though.

Thank you
I am even done with University

bigtt76:
It is the reality of many student immigrants the only difference is that they (students) come with their partner and take turns in minding their underage kids or they use child minders or friendly neighbours. Some take their kids to the school library or lecture theatre to sit out with other kids and they are fine. All the best though.
TravelRe: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by Gift7428: 8:55am On Oct 24, 2023
If it wasn’t an anonymous call can you guess where it came from? Do police just pop into people’s homes?

bigtt76:
You really think that was an anonymous call? They just told you that so you don't ask more questions or them revealing identity. Truth is you shouldn't leave your daughter alone to go socialising at night. It's even more understandable if it is for work but to attend birthday or drink out with friends... No no and it doesn't sound good to the ears dear. Kids lives have been lost due to issues bordering around their parents living them unattended to go drinking.

The police telling you your daughter seem well cared for might just be sarcasm and they have you on camera saying you left her for few hours to go out. It's no joke but they have enough evidence on you already. Better you watch it than be sorry later.

You seem to be adding more to my story and I am not surprised 😂
Where are you getting the idea of man or single mother from? Is being sociable always about man? My fellow Africans will never stop to amaze me 😂
Good luck to you too

Greenpeasants1:

Thanks to your wife

Nemie:
Hi. My wife is a social worker, and after reading your story, she suggests you take the child back to Nigeria, as there is a significant likelihood that you will be subjected to parental assessments or potentially lose the child to the government.
TravelRe: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by Gift7428: 9:34pm On Oct 23, 2023
I can’t use my neighbor for personal reasons
We only just say Hi.
I am more worried that someone knows too much about when I am home with my daughter or not.
I will work on my night shifts but I drop her off at my friend that lives close to me. It’s 30th s a week

Thank You

Zahra29:
You mentioned that one of your neighbours is a Nigerian family with young children. Are you (can you be) friendly with them? Perhaps they would be happy to have your daughter come round when you're out in exchange for a nominal amount or something. There's nothing wrong with asking for help - people are generally willing to help if it is a sincere request.

In any case you need to tread very carefully and avoid leaving your daughter at home especially at night. Can you rearrange your shifts so you work day time? This isn't scaremongering - you are already on the police and SS's radar and you dont know who is watching and shopping you to them. Personally, beyond the threat of SS, I would also be concerned that someone out there seems to be aware of when my daughter is at home alone.
TravelRe: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by Gift7428: 8:26pm On Oct 23, 2023
Nigeria is best option now for me. I just want to know if other people passed through this and how they scaled through

missjekyll:
Gosh. I would take the child back to Nigeria till i can afford a childminder rather than risk jailtime or a criminal record. Your childs doctor, nurses , teachers are all mandatory reporters
and attend yearly safeguarding training.I m not sure how long the child can go before letting something slip.
TravelRe: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by Gift7428: 8:25pm On Oct 23, 2023
So they just take kids away for the first time when they get an anonymous call? Have you experienced this in person or just making assumptions 😂

dustydee:
Count yourself lucky to still have your daughter. I think the officers were being reasonable to allow that to pass. Please do not leave her alone again else you will spend that child care money and much more trying to get your daughter back.
TravelRe: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by Gift7428: 6:59pm On Oct 23, 2023
I was just trying to be detailed
I cannot confirm if it was my Sunday trip that warranted the police visiting me to ask for my details
They said it wasn’t documented when they visited the first time.

Kenn55:
Oh no! I don't like reading about self inflicted problems. Why did you leave her alone again after escaping the first time with a warning? Just hope this wouldn't escalate.

Some people actually leave Nigeria without any proper plan for accommodation. I have seen them with kids and plenty luggage in bus station with no where to go. One even begged to sleep on the floor of my studio in winter😢
They always have same story that the person they were meant to stay with didn’t pick their calls.
I just want every coming in here to know that , this country you are running to, didn’t get to this level with “anyhowness”
It’s by proper planning.

Biometrics is only done in London

66 Wilson Street, London,London,United Kingdom,EC2A 2BT

tushqueen:
Hello my people. I need to make some clarification please;

1. Can biometrics for Canadian visit visa be done online or anywhere else apart from the London office?

2. Will a 2 year old born in the UK be able to obtain a UK visa without having an international passport please. The child only has her birth certificate obtained from the council she was born

You might not really need a church or mosque if you know what you are doing. NL sef is enough for you to get the right information. Go to church to serve God genuinely. Most of my coursemates who did this church thing still didn’t achieve anything better than me. I am a child of God tho 😂

I hope the job you are talking about is not agency. The number of people willing to do these shifts is more than the available shift itself😂
If you really want rest of mind get a job direct with the company
Imagine not getting booked for shifts in two weeks, you can’t sleep well at night 😂
Just saying and wish you all the best

You just said Neath for accommodation. Due to the difficulty of obtaining family accommodation in Swansea, some Swansea students live in Neath.
As for jobs, they are on indeed it depends on how well he can apply and get shortlisted. Some people go as far as Bristol to work.
Everything depends on how smart your friend and his wife are.
Knowing how to apply for jobs is a skill itself.

Focus99:
Thank you for your reply.

Hahahahaha please as per the job what city in wales will you advice him to search for accomodation? Cos job is the koko although he's coming with his spouse

Thank you again

Neath is fine. Easy to commute from Neath to anywhere in Wales and England sef. I hope he has prepared his mind to search for jobs with all level of aggressiveness.

Focus99:
Hello guys, who knows about the city Neath in Wales? Kindly share your thought about this city as a friend is looking at relocating there. His school is Swansea University

Thank you

Write to HCPC
Tell them about your intentions
They will be in the best position.
You should have chosen to study biomedical sciences for your masters but anyway just do as above.

Globalshaper:
Thank you.

I appreciate.

Embarking on another MSc after the present one is a cost I am not sure I can accommodate at this time though.

Is there any other way to onboard a nursing career or even a biomedical science career? I wouldn’t mind a lower band, provided it’s a pathway to sponsorship.

A lot of things still look sketchy on this journey and I really want to firm up my plans from the get go.
TravelRe: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by Gift7428: 4:40pm On Jul 31, 2023
I would go for England because of other opportunities that will present itself outside work. You won’t get those opportunities in Wales.

I really don’t understand who started this gist about low cost of living in wales.
I live in a tiny studio of 700 per month, I thought I was going to get it much cheaper because of stories I heard.
The house rent are almost same as some cities in England especially in North west of England.
I am only here for school tho.

These people are still years behind, trust me in terms of everything and diversity.
I lived in the chaotic Lagos for about 15 years so when I got to Swansea I just knew the city wasn’t for me.
Nice environment no doubt.

koonbey:
If you could earn the same salary working in Wales or England, say for a company with offices around the country and the same pay at specific levels, would you still prefer England?

My understanding is that the lower costs of living combined with how nice the environment is would make it a very attractive option. Would you agree?
TravelRe: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by Gift7428: 3:28pm On Jul 28, 2023
I live in Wales

Wales is to England what Warri is to Lagos. You are better off in England lol except you want to be a farmer 😂

Focus99:
Hahahaha 2m and 3m

England is the deal then now I understand lol

And thanks for the correction Northern Ireland

Thank you

Will do the LinkedIn stuff
Schoolhike:
Almost all NHS interview I’ve had in the past always ask question regarding, confidential and diversity, team work, some don’t even ask question about tell me about you self, I always tell them about my self even if they don’t ask me to, I will start my discussion with that.

Look for someone to run you a mock, use Ai to generate interview questions using the job description and roles and responsibilities or copy and paste all information on the job page and paste. You can even ask AI to answer the questions for you using examples Or scenarios.

If you don’t find anyone to help, you can Try LinkedIn and use the job title for the search, look for possible a black working in that aspect and ask the person out about their day to day job.

Meanwhile, lots of questions comes from the job descriptions and roles and responsibilities.

Funny personal stories about AI, I applied for data role, I tried as much as possible to do lots of google research including the company website to understand the job roles, because the one used for advert is just too generic.

I went to ai, with a copy of all related information from the company website and job description, I told ai to give me a scenario of a day to day job scenario of that particular jobs, with that I now know what the job entails clearly.

Went on to the interview, was asked what I know about the company, and what do I think I would be doing, said everything AI gave me, they said, that’s exactly all that they do. (Didn’t get the job because someone from another competitor company was interviews also )

It seems it’s only Lemonade that converts Naira to pounds. The rate on lemonade is not encouraging at all. I still have some money in Naira that I need to change. The Naira has really lost value 😥
