This is sad,not just because of the demise of the Olori, but moreso because of the untoward circumstances: A Crowned Royal King, engaging publicly in street fighting, not in a riot, but with his Olori!!!! I have never heard of this kind of event anywhere in history. What could the wife have done that could make/forced the King to leave his palace and beat up the wife so much (as the pics of her in the Newspaper http://www.sunnewsonline.com/webpages/news/national/2011/july/13/national-13-07-2011-004.html) Anyone has clue? And on top of it, the King was deposed.SAd SAd indeed!! May the soul of the Olori rest in peace. |
Supported Blazing 99! A petition should be written to the Authority both at US embassy and appropriate Nigerian Ministry-internal affairs. A degree of professionalism is required of every 'diplomat' humiliating and being personal about interviewees is not acceptable by US or Nigerian standard.Neither of the Countries's constitution condones abuse of public positions. |
This thread was in 2006.I just came across it today 2010! And I want to say God bless the author of this thread.I was learning the HTML and building web for the beginners at W3school, but I never get the core of the explanations there. This article break it to pap level. Thanks all. |

@all any lesson? I realize that there are things one takes for granted in ones' life and one may never know how valuable the "water is until the well run dry"! Is there someone, somebody, a friend, a colleague, Mum, Dad, siblings,a job, a quest or even your life that you take "just like that" with levity and nonchalant acceptance?? Take time to appreciate all the little and big things that God has bless / endow you with. It is free coming on here, but it is a chunk of blessing. Show appreciation today. Seun, I bless God for the wisdom He has imbued you with. May you live long in good health, wealth( you are in the league already),fear of God, love for yourself, your Neighbour and Nigeria. Gbogbo Igi telegbede ba fowo ba didun lo ndun. . You will never be disgrace or discredit o. |

Thank God o. I tried to open Nl from my homepage, no show!,I binged it, click again nothing!I sent an email to @Chosen 04 asking to know if she was able to log in, no answer.I have no phone number to call whoever. I said well, the FGN must have been pissed off with something on Nl's page or my IP is been blocked for whatever reason.Just this evening I said let me check again. It was like I won a jackpot when the page opened. I did not realize I am that attached to NL as I discovered today. Kudos to Seun and the Technicians.May there be no more cog in the wheel of Nairaland. Amiinnnnnn ![]() |

Where is the link to the meaning of the icons e.g sticky topic, locked thread and what are the reasons. Also how are guys able to make a word or link clickable e.g new name, Got it as in above ?Well I cant see no URL link in my reply page.I am just trying to familiarize myself with the tools available here.Lalaboi tutorials and Chaz responses were very helpful. Why does dot dot dot does not show in the reply like punching many full stops to make ur sentences open to some else to fill in the gap e.g.heaven helps and you put the dotsssssssss after that. |
Quote from Ajanlekoko 'In every section, always something useful to learn in NL'.Very true, Wealth of experience, insights ,links to some other resourceful sites you never heard of and amusements are found at every section of NL.Every contributors way back then and those still around till now (OPs and CPs+ the guests) deserves a doff of hat for what NL is today.Happy Anniversary!!! ![]() |
I was there.Got it.Thanks. |
True to situation.Do you have any that depicts recovery/hope and way forward? Good selections. ![]() |
234next has International readership.Probably they should consider a token registration fee for access to their online publications. And like one of the commentators said above, they(234N) should endearvor to get the business angle situated well. All operations should be balance.Brazen and strategical advertizing should be embarked upon to get more patronage worldwide-that's where the money is if the circulation at home is getting poorer from whatever machineries 'anyone' set in place to strangle them. The truth will not die, may faint for a while ,but sooner or later it will recuperate. |
I am scare for Nigeria my Fatherland and Nigerians!! Just as one is breathing a sigh of relief that things are looking up,someone dug up these allegations on mis-appropriation of funds that is pending hearing. What will happen now that the Mrs Jonathan is now the First Lady of Nigeria!!! ![]() |
http://www.dawodu.com/oduyela6.htm I was reading an article on NL and followed a link therein to the Dawodu.com page.I have not read such in-depth series of expository articles written by Mr Seyi Oduyela anywhere else. So the link above takes you to his page. |
You know I have just watched the movie"Heart and Soul " on Encore, and I saw how the bus driver came back ,one by one, for these guys that said they still have some unfinished business. And I said is that how it is? One by one the bus will come and take us to heaven. And I was sobered. I hope the late President lived fulfilled, despite everything.I hope he had a vision and hope for a better Nigeria. I wish he could borrow some time to come and correct one or two things that needs correction. May his soul rest in peace.Greet my mum and dad if you chanced on them. |
I am with @nice-guy10.With all our acts put together, prayers, actions and all, things will start looking better. |
When I caught the last tail of the news on CNN, I only saw Nigeria and my heart skipped a bit,I was like"what have we done again"!!Then I saw it's about Yar Adua.May he rest well and be properly welcome in heaven. I pray, the way forward for Nigeria out of the quagmire be well-lit, broaden and paved henceforth. |
To @ InesQor and other better English language users and writers. Thanks for the errors pointed out.I wouldn't say or will ever claim I have the total mastery of the language, and I am quite open to correction(s).However, you will do well to place the correct usage next to the error. Not as much for me but for others that may learn one or two things from the wrong usages and the corrections thereof. As it were,I could see what should have been etc.Who is afraid of making mistake? And there are different kinds of spades too for different purposes. |
Thanks to@Jakumo and Knotty.I noticed that some half-editing were done on the write-up I posted here.Could you find time to mail me @bertyaw@yahoo.com on how the article should have look? |
The guys that posted their 6 or x#? pack are challenging.I will take a swiff at the building up thing henceforth. @the ask(er) the song Ori ori o Olajumoke nlo, is a folklore from way yonder(it was about a beautiful damsel that was not satisfy with marrying someone from her region/kingdom,until a fairy spirit'ori-head' went and borrowed all other parts of human being and wooed her, then took Olajumoke with him and returned all borrowings along the way .She was kept in a cell with a Cock to watch all her movements, I know majority of us here will stil remember the story' Anyway Angelina Kudjoe?(I hope I still get that ok) had featured the lyrics in one of her songs. @Moyola how are you able to view the world from all side as portrayed in your profile? Will like to learn that trick/talent.I know it has to do with some java.Anyway I may get there when I start on java and programming etc This posting by all is really hilarious. ![]() |
