UNIPORT Student commits suicide for not feeling fullfiled

The final year student of the department of electrical engineering, University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT)

identified as Prince Digbani reportedly committed suicide at his off-campus apartment in Aluu on Monday November 25.

Digbani was reportedly advised against committing suicide after hinting about it while telling his friends that “he doesn’t feel fulfilled”

His friend rushed down to his apartment after he failed to pick his calls after sharing suicidal posts on his Whatsapp status.

The deceased who was given red oil to drink by his co-tenants who found him convulsing upon breaking down his door after hearing a loud noise, was pronounced dead at Lulu-Briggs medical centre where he was subsequently rushed to. It was gathered that he took a poisonous substance.

A 44-year old Bruce Franklin has been arrested after he confessed to killing his wife and eating her flesh while he was stuck with her in an elevator.

According to the Philadelphia Police Department, the partially devoured corpse of his wife was lying next to him when he was rescued after being stuck for three days in an elevator.

Mr Franklin immediately confessed that he had reluctantly killed her and eaten almost 12 lbs of her flesh, saying it was necessary to his survival.

Mr Franklin and his wife, Janet Willis, were coming back from the restaurant when they took an express elevator to reach their apartment on the 42nd floor.

On their way up, the elevator unexpectedly stopped, and the couple was stranded.

Mr Franklin says he hit the alarm and waited, but nothing happened. He investigated his surroundings, but there was no warning text and no elevator emergency phone in the 6-by-6 box.

Since they didn’t have their cell phones with them, the couple had no way of reaching the outside world.

Hours went by, and no one came. Starting to get desperate, the 300-lb man tried to pry the door open, planning to climb down the elevator shaft like Bruce Willis in Die Hard. Instead, he was met with a solid concrete wall with the number 13 stencilled on it.

Being in an express elevator, there was no opening for the floors that weren’t served, and Mr. Franklin found himself facing 34 floors of the solid concrete shaft.



The couple were stuck in an express elevator, and the shaft had no access to the lower floors.

The couple could do nothing but stand there for the rest of the afternoon. And into the night. And then overnight. Then all day the next day.

After about 48 hours, Mr Franklin says he was suffering from severe dehydration and began fearing for his life.

According to his lawyer, Darrel Hunter, Bruce Franklin had no other choice than to k**l his wife and ingest her flesh and blood if he wanted to survive.

Mr Hunter says his client is a victim and that Ms Willis’ death was caused by the negligence of the residential building’s security staff.

Despite his lawyer’s claims, Mr Franklin now faces a total of 14 charges, including second-degree murder and cannibalism. He could face up to 75 years in prison.

As we grow older, say from 40 years up to 65. There is nothing better than a total life style change to preserve us and keep us healthy.

After 40 if a person still wants to keep living like a child, he or she might not make it passed middle age. If however such individuals make it, while living like children, then they might suffer a lot of health problems as they age.

One of the first things someone over forty years should consider, will be a life of moderation.

Drink moderately or avoid it completely, eat healthy and wisely, lots of fiber rich natural foods vegetables fruits etc avoid industry mass produced foods because of lots of unhealthy feed additives not on label, sleep enough and don’t deprive yourself of sleep because of partying, hanging out and all such youthful desires lust porn non essentials and occupations.

Regular exercises should not be missed. Because at the age of forty and above the vital organs of a human being will need some aiding to function properly through exercising.

Any man or woman who after 40 still consumes alcohol like a little boy or girl and indulge freely in all the things he or she did at age 20, or say 25, does not understand that the body is no more the same as it used to be.

Many deaths, stroke, erectile dysfunction issues, heart problems, etc, that occur amongst middle age people today, can be avoided if people of this age group will just embark on a life style change.

I have seen friends, neighbours and relatives who like me are middle agers but suffer like old men, die relatively early, play with so much Viagra because of erectile problem. This ought not to be so. Lifestyle change is the answer.

At middle age a lot of changes takes place in us, living us not as strong as we used to be before, therefore we can’t put unnecessary pressures that only youthful bodies can take, on our aging bodies.

Eating time should be reduced to 7pm, because anything after 8pm is poison to the system of a middle aged person.
Red meat (e.g. beef) should be substituted with white meat e.g. poultry and fishes).
Sugar, iced cold water, lots of salt, should be avoided. Load up on high-fiber fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. Your whole digestive system does slow as you age, so fiber is very important. Consume fiber-rich foods such as whole grains, fruit, and vegetables. They will help you feel more energetic and give you fuel to keep going.

Regular check up on our blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar, breast, prostrate and so on will be very helpful. use natural med than synthetics.

Bless you all fellow middle agers, we have gotten to that stage when we don’t think of every other person and leave ourselves unattended to, think of yourself more now, you need you to stay well.

Why PDP will keep losing in Kogi state.



The Kogi state government has reacted to the series of denunciatory statements made by the Peoples Democratic Party over its loss of the governorship election on 16 November in the state and its candidate trailing the APC candidate in the Kogi West senatorial election.

The Director General to Governor Yahaya Bello on Media and Publicity, Kingsley Fanwo, gave a post mortem on the poll, adducing reasons why the PDP lost, adding that the PDP antics will in no way diminish the resounding victory of Governor Bello

Fanwo’s statement read: “Our attention has been drawn to the orchestrated Peoples Democratic Party and its propaganda wing to rubbish the well deserved, herd earned victory of the All Progressives Congress in the November 16, 2019 governorship and National Assembly elections in Kogi State.

“We are not miffed by the millions they are throwing about to raise false alarms and cover their disastrous outing in the Kogi governorship election.

“Though, we are much aware of the popular saying that ‘you cannot beat a child and not expect him to cry,’ as PDP is doing now, haven been beaten silly in the election, but the desperate dimension that the party is busy spewing outright lies, attributing APC’s victory to ‘guns’ and violence, in the media is alarming.

“For purposes of clarification, APC’s victory did not come through the barrel of the gun nor through violence. The victory came via a combination of strategic factors ably marshalled and coordinated by the digital Executive Governor of Kogi State and leader of the party, Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello as analyzed below.

“First, APC did a soul searching and realised it might not do too well in the election if it failed to come together as one united family. That led the leadership of the party to initiate a robust reconciliatory move that reunited the various factions within the party into one happy family.

“Second, the APC went on an aggressive marketing drive across the state to showcase its achievements since it assumed power in 2016, and this endeared prospective voters to the party, haven seen the margin of difference in what APC achieved in less than four years compared with PDP’s 16 years of waste.

“It is on record that PDP never visited any local government in Kogi Central to sell its programmes, yet the party wanted to clean up the votes from Ebiraland.

“Even in Kogi West, the party succeeded in campaigning in only few places since its warped strategy was built on getting astronomic votes from Kogi East which never came.

“Third, PDP failed woefully in the election because of internal crisis that tore the party assunder. All through the party’s primary election to the general elections, the leadership of the party were at each other’s throats over the bitter outcome of the party’s primary, where guns boomed to pave way for a particular candidate to emerge as the flagbearer.

“We are at a loss as to how PDP intended to win an all- important election like governorship with a divided house. In any case, the main gladiators in PDP who could make a difference in any election had all decamped to APC as a result of irreconcilable differences of the major actors within the stable of PDP.

“PDP should do some introspection and soul searching instead of its current laughable resort to lies and guile to justify its disastrous outing in Kogi elections. It beats anyone’s imagination how an already beaten, battered party like Kogi PDP thought it could win the governorship election. That would have amounted to the miracle of the century.

“By the time we are done with statistics of the arrests made of PDP goons used to steal ballot boxes across the state, the world would see into the current propaganda of the PDP as nothing but a red herring intended to curry pity from unsuspecting public.

“When APC wins any election, PDP propagandists and alarmists will consider it rigged, but when PDP wins, it is considered the people’s wish. PDP should desist from self deceit and face the reality on ground.”

The PDP had condemned the entire election.

Its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, denounced both the governorship election and the Kogi West Senatorial District rerun which held on the same day, saying that the exercise was more of a war than election.

The PDP initially threatened to boycott Saturday’s Kogi West supplementary poll, saying that under the ruling party, the wish of the people can hardly count.

Ologbondiyan on Sunday, announced that the party would participate in the election.

Former Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress in Niger State, Comrade Jonathan Vatsa, has lambasted the 9th Assembly of the Nigerian Senate for the proposed bill seeking death penalty for anyone convicted for hate speech.



While addressing selected journalists in Minna, the former Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism in the state described the move as not only laughable but a direct invitation for anarchy.

The APC chieftain advised the 9th Assembly to also propose a bill that will apply for lands in the 36 states, including the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja as did for Ruga to be used as cemetery for hate speech offenders that will be killed.

According to Vatsa: “I call on Senator Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi to also propose a bill that will ensure we have separate cemetery for offenders so that we can have it as tourist’s sites with inscriptions ‘Hate Speech’ cemetery because the offenders may also include those of us who have benefitted from hate speech.

“What a shame.”

Vatsa wondered why the APC-controlled Senate should ever contemplate such a “draconian and unpopular law,” saying: “We rode to power in 2015 through hate speech.
“We (APC) brought hate speech to Nigeria politics and I am one of them.
“As a Publicity Secretary of the APC, I know how we used hate speech to mobilize Nigerians against the then ruling party.

“And it paid off because Nigerians eventually hated the Peoples Democratic Party.

“Before 2015, Nigerians did not know anything like hate speech.
“In fact, since the return of democracy in 1999, we are just hearing about hate speech.

“APC as a political party brought hate to politics in form of propaganda.
“The truth must be told: we are the architect of hate speech and nobody complained about it.



“We enjoyed it and it worked for us.
“If we think we have failed Nigerians in our change promises, we should be bold enough to tell Nigerians that we are sorry, we couldn’t deliver, but to try to cage them by trying to introduce or recycle Decree 4 of 1984 in the name of hate speech is unacceptable.”
The APC chieftain while blaming the Senate Deputy Whip, who is from Niger North Senatorial District, Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, warned that the proposed bill for death penalty for hate speech “might consume all of us”.

Vatsa said rather than proposing death penalty for hate speech offenders, it should be death penalty for corrupt leaders in this country because “corruption and injustice gave birth to what is now being called hate speech.
“If there is justice, equity, fairness and respect for rule of law, there will be no hate speech.

“But when people are being marginalized and denied their right, surely there will be hate speech.
“You cannot stop people from expressing their freedom of speech.
“If the Senate is proposing death penalty for hate speech, then what will they do to Boko Haram, armed bandits, kidnappers, oil bunkers and treasury looters both politicians and civil servants?
“All these things are worse than hate speech.



“There are more pressing issues to Nigerians that the Senate should look into and address instead of wasting their energy on an unpopular bill like this one that will not see the light of the day.”



Vatsa however believes that there are more to the proposed hate speech bill, adding: “If the rumor of President Muhammadu Buhari nursing the ambition of third term is correct, then they need death penalty for hate speech to silence everybody who will want to oppose him.



“But the Senate should know that he who lives in a glass house should not throw stone because they cannot be there forever.



“When they leave the Senate, the law can catch up with them.
“Again, if the money meant for constituency projects are utilized for the purpose it was meant for and the people begin to see dividends of democracy, there will be no need for hate speech.



“If the millions of Nigerian youths can have something to do to earn a living, they will not have time for hate speech.
“If people are allowed to elect their leaders in a free and fair election there will be no hate speech, says Jonathan Vatsa

FUTA Godfather and Goddaughter ASSAULTS Female Student.


A Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) godfather named Obakekere John Wick (or Obalolu) and his goddaughter – Oluwadare Faith (FST 200L), have gone viral after assaulting a female student – Obalolu, in her hostel room.





The assaulted lady, simply known as “Bolu”, is a student of FUTA from Industrial Design department 100level.

According to report, It started off as a sort of argument between two girls on “Phone and having Sex with Boys”. And one of the girls called her “School Daddy” to deal with the other girl.


Faith is seen telling “Obalolu” to kneel down while John, a 300 level student of Industrial Design Department, flogs her continuously.


Students have gone to her Instagram page @sakani_ntl to blast her and tell her their mind.


According to the FUTA handbook, “Physical assault or battery on another student outside the university premises”, is “Expulsion from the University.”

A Nigerian actress, Deborah Oguntoyinbo is facing more than 50 fraud-related charges in Toronto and surrounding regions.

Police say she is one of the most prolific identity thieves they’ve recently encountered.



They say 26-year-old Deborah Oguntoyinbo, of Toronto, has left a trail of shattered lives and destroyed credit profiles.

A CBC News investigation has uncovered details about Oguntoyinbo, who is currently facing more than 50 fraud-related charges in Toronto as well as nearby York, Peel and Halton regions, according to court records.

The charges relate to the alleged thefts of identities belonging to at least 20 people since 2017 alone.



But there could be more, York Regional Police Sgt. Andy Pattenden told CBC News.



“She definitely would be considered a professional fraudster, knows what she’s doing and [is] quite prolific,” he said. “She’s really been all over the [Greater Toronto Area].”



Police services across the Toronto area are still piecing together the extent of her alleged crimes.



Money withdrawn, passwords reset
Oguntoyinbo’s latest arrest came on June 29, when police allege she tried to flee a luxury condominium complex in Markham, north of Toronto, after being suspected of fraud.



York Region Police allege Oguntoyinbo tried to rent the condo using the name Natalia Bozic, and have charged her with using a forged certified cheque and a false identity.

Bozic, 24, a self-employed esthetician from Mississauga, Ont., says that someone used her personal information to get into her bank account, apply for loans and credit cards, change all her passwords and wreak havoc on her life.



She says she first noticed something was amiss when she couldn’t log in to her RBC online banking account this past summer.

“It was June 10th, and it told me to call the phone number listed. So I called them, and they told me to come into the bank.”



The bank told her $1,200 was stolen from her account. That was just the beginning.



“They investigated and they put my account on freeze,” she said, and assured her “nobody can put money in and nobody can take money out.”



Yet, two days later someone walked into an RBC branch on Don Mills Rd. in Toronto and passed a teller a fake driver’s licence with Bozic’s name and correct licence number.



Bozic said the RBC teller issued the person a new bank card linked to Bozic’s bank account.



Bozic believes the bank also provided the person her social insurance number.



That’s when the alleged crimes became more brazen and widespread.



Someone “reset passwords, reset security questions, reset my phone to a new phone number, created a new email address so I don’t get notified my [banking] password changed.”



Twice more, money was drained from Bozic’s account. Some was sent to a bank account in Vancouver. In all, about $4,000 went missing, according to bank records.

Over the next five days, someone using Bozic’s driver’s licence and SIN applied for at least 20 bank loans, car loans and credit cards from financial institutions across the country.



On June 17, someone accessed her Fido mobile phone account. Her phone number was changed, new phones were purchased, and Bozic was billed $2,000.



Someone also changed the passwords to her social media accounts.



Then, on June 19, Bozic received a letter from Scotiabank.



“It said, congratulations, I had leased a Range Rover,” she said.



“Well, I was just thinking, what’s next?” Bozic said. “They have my SIN number for life, they have my driver’s licence for life. They have all the stuff to keep it going.”



Dozens of fraud charges
Police in at least four Toronto-area jurisdictions have filed identity theft-related charges against Oguntoyinbo.



Peel police, just west of Toronto, wouldn’t comment on their investigation. But court records reveal Oguntoyinbo is accused of stealing the identities of two people there.



Police in Halton, further west, have accused her of stealing the identities of 11 people.



Toronto police say they have two outstanding arrest warrants for Oguntoyinbo in connection with the thefts of two identities and other frauds.



In York region, north of Toronto, police allege she stole four identities.



As part of their most recent investigation, York Regional Police obtained a search warrant for a condo complex at 50 Forest Manor Rd. in Toronto.



Inside the 22nd-floor condo investigators found printers and paper stock they say Oguntoyinbo used to create fake certified cheques using others’ names.



She allegedly used some of those cheques to buy a Mercedes Benz and a BMW.



They also seized numerous forged drivers‘ licences, social insurance numbers and passports in the names of other people.

What we know about Deborah Oguntoyinbo
In 2017, Oguntoyinbo was charged with 19 fraud-related offences. She was sentenced to jail twice, the harshest sentence being 90 days.



She is currently behind bars as the latest round of charges work their way through court systems in the four jurisdictions.



Her only online presence appears to be photos posted on the website starnow.ca, a site used by actors, models and musicians looking for work.



According to federal bankruptcy records and provincial databases Oguntoyinbo has no assets or liens registered in her name.



CBC News has learned police have a list of aliases they believe Oguntoyinbo has used to allegedly commit crimes.

RBC concedes mistakes
RBC conceded it could have done a better job protecting Bozic’s personal information. The bank has refunded the money stolen from her account.



“We did acknowledge to Ms. Bozic that, in this instance, our in-branch protocols for verifying a client’s identity were not adequately followed, and explained how we would prevent this from happening in the future,” RBC spokesperson AJ Goodman wrote in an email to CBC News.



But the bank also said Bozic is partially to blame.



“We understand that this has been a difficult situation for Ms. Bozic and we regret the frustrations she experienced. Ms. Bozic was the victim of an account takeover after her mobile device was compromised,” according to Goodman.



Bozic disputes that, pointing out her RBC bank account was hacked seven days before her mobile phone was compromised.



Bozic said she still has no idea how her online banking information was accessed; she said she’s never lost her identification or been hacked before.



RBC has refused Bozic’s request to provide her with credit monitoring services.

“They said they were sorry for what happened and that should be enough,” according to Bozic.



RBC declined to answer specific questions about why it won’t offer Bozic any future protection.



Bozic said the situation has destroyed her credit rating. She was recently declined when she applied for a mortgage. Her once strong credit rating is no more.



She also wonders if, or when, her identity might be misused again.



She has since switched banks and said she’ll have to check with credit bureaus every year to see if someone continues to fraudulently apply for loans in her name.



“I have to try and figure out if my information matches with their information,” she said. “And if it doesn’t, I’m screwed

17 year old girl raped to death by four boys

A teenager died after she was allegedly despoil.d by a group of boys at a house party.

Jhoselin Monica Calani, 17, attended the gathering at a friend’s house on October 16. She is believed to have collapsed during the celebrations.

It is believed she was then brutally raped by the group in Oruro, Bolivia. When she woke, Jhoselin complained of soreness in her hips and struggled to stand.

She was dashed to hospital but died there two weeks later.

Her grief-stricken mum now wants the four teenage boys arrested on suspicion of her rape to be prosecuted for murder or femicide.

“I want to tell you those guys cannot go out, justice must be carried out, they must pay for what they did, they should not be punished with a minor penalty,” she said.

Police continue to investigate the tragedy, and are questioning the suspects, each aged 16 or 17.

Alcohol was served at the party, officers say.

But they are exploring whether other drugs were also present.

Orlando Zapata, the Oruro department attorney, said Jhoselin “did not remember what happened, she felt very cold and presented a strong pain in the hips”.

The Governor of California, Gavin Newsom, has appointed a Nigerian from Cross River State (Calabar), Uduak-Joe Ntuk, as the State Oil and Gas Supervisor, responsible for managing the Division of Oil, Gas and Geothermal Resources (DOGGR).





A statement from the governor’s office said that Uduak-Joe Ntuk had served as the Petroleum Administrator for the City of Los Angeles, the second-largest city in the United States of America.



“In Los Angeles, he was responsible for oversight and policy of oil fields, gas storage facilities, petroleum refineries and pipeline franchise agreements.”



“Prior to joining the city of Los Angeles, he had worked for several companies, including Tyco, General Electric and Chevron.






“Being a technical professional with both public and private sector energy experience, he provided technical advice to the Mayor, City Council, and various City Departments,” it stated.

It added that Ntuk is a strong believer in Nigeria and its potentials and had expressed his will to share his expertise to further develop the Nigerian petroleum industry and the possibilities of building a mutually-beneficial relationship with the state of California.





“A Nigerian-based Oil and Gas Consulting Company is exploring the possibilities and has initiated discussions regarding building a business relationship between the Nigerian oil and gas industry and the state of California through Mr Ntuk.”



“He is the first Nigerian-American to hold this position in California’s history and his family is from the Port City of Calabar, Cross River State,” it concluded.



The California DOGGR uses science and sound engineering practices to regulate the drilling, operation and permanent closure of energy resource wells.





The division prioritises protecting the public and the environment in its oversight of the oil, natural gas and geothermal industries within the largest state in America.

As you step on the threshold to commence service to the fatherland, starting with Orientation course, it will be most appropriate to apprise you of the following travel guide:

Every successful journey begins with adequate planning. Therefore, you should make adequate preparation for your journey.

Disregard information on NYSC camping list from phantom sites purporting to be acting on behalf of the Scheme. The call-up letter should be your guide. Read the information contained on it critically, so as to be conversant with what and what not to take to the camp.

You must set out very early to the Orientation camps in order to get to your destinations on time latest, 6pm.

If the journey will take beyond 6pm to arrive at your destination, kindly break the journey.

Ensure that you board a vehicle from approved park. Doing otherwise may make you susceptible to robbery attack, kidnapping, either for ransom or ritual etc.

While on the journey, never receive edibles from strangers as the food may have been laced with substance that will make you lose consciousness.

Be mindful of how you chat on phone as you may unwittingly give out classified personal information to criminals posing as co-passengers, thereby putting yourself on harm’s way.

Avoid every form of discussion on politics, whether for or against any party. Such is capable of inflaming tempers.

Never get involved on discussion bordering on criminalities in the country: Boko Haram, robbery, kidnapping as you don’t know the people you are travelling with.

Keep your friends and family updated on your movement.

Keep your credentials secure. Preferably carry them on you.

Ensure that your travelling bags and luggage are locked and secured.

Never give your phone to a stranger to make calls. That person may be a kidnapper, robber or terrorist. Such call can implicate you on what you know nothing about.

Write down emergency phone numbers.

Be aware of your clothing. Dress responsibly and in conformity with the culture/religion of the region you have been deployed.

In the event of any untoward happening, don’t try to be a hero. Look for escape route.

When you arrive the Orientation camps, abide by all the rules and regulations guiding the NYSC camp.

10 grammatical jargon often used by Nigerians.



In Nigeria, people use a lot of grammatical jargon daily and most this jargon are/were/is believed to be correct when view in the English man’s way, but interestingly, most of this jargon often have no sensible meaning when searched for in the dictionary.

Below are some compiled words.

(1)Installmentally:

This “word” is a favourite of many Nigerians, but, sadly, it simply does not exist. You won’t find it any reputable dictionary. The correct thing to say when “installmentally” comes to your mind is in instalments or by instalments.

(2)Plumpy:

Nigerians use “plumpy” when they want to say that someone is chubby or slightly fat. The correct expression is plump.

(3)Disvirgin:



This particular “word” is used severally on a daily basis, especially by Nigerian men when they intend saying that a woman has lost her virginity to a guy. The correct word to use, however, is deflower, because “disvirgin” is not a word depicting that meaning.



(4)Crosscarpeting or cross-carpeting



This is a favourite of Nigerian politicians and political analysts alike. They use it when they want to say that a politician has dumped his political party for another party, usually a rival party. The right terms to use when describing this scenario are party switching, defection and crossing the floor and not “cross-carpeting” or “crosscarpeting.”
Go-slow: The word go-slow exists, but not in the way Nigerians use it.

(5)A “go-slow,”

in the peculiarly Nigerian context, is a situation in which road traffic is very sluggish due to vehicle queues. However, go-slow in the English language actually means an industrial tactic used by employees whereby they intentionally reduce activity, productivity and efficiency in order to press home some demands. When this happens, you say that work in the office, factory or organization is at a go- slow. The correct terms to use when road traffic is very sluggish due to vehicle queues are traffic jam, traffic congestion, gridlock, and (less technically) hold-up, not “go- slow.”



(6)Cunny

“Cunny” is not found in authoritative dictionaries, but it can be found in some slang dictionaries. Over there, it is a slang used to refer to a woman’s v**ina. The correct term to use is cunning (which is used to describe someone that is being deceitful or crafty) and not “cunny.”

(7)Opportuned

There is nothing like “opportuned” anywhere in the English language, but that has not stopped its blatant use by all and sundry in Nigeria, including journalists and writers. The correct word is opportune. The word opportune is an adjective; therefore it has no past tense. An adjective has no past tense. However, some verbs can function as adjectives or adverbs in a sentence. These verbs are called participles and they do have past tenses. They are not pure adjectives. Examples of participles are fattened, amused, disgusted, mystified, overwhelmed, upset and bored. Be that as it may, opportune is a pure adjective and not a participle, therefore it has no past tense. Opportune means appropriate or well- timed.



(Alright

“Alright” is a misspelling of the term all right. All right is used when you want to say that something is adequate, acceptable, agreeable or suitable. To hardcore English language linguists, “alright” is not a word. However, its usage is gaining traction and it’s increasingly becoming acceptable. The Merriam-Webster Dictionary – which is considered the gold standard among American English speakers – has recently drawn a lot of criticisms for its permissiveness when it began indexing some otherwise colloquial and street language terms, including “alright.” Most linguists disagree with the gradual acceptance of “alright” as a word by the public and even the media, while those in the minority are “alright” with it.



(9)Wake-keeping

“Wake-keeping” exists only in the imagination of a few English speakers. As a matter of fact, there is no such thing as “wake-keeping.” The correct word is wake and not even “wake-keep.” Both “wake-keeping” and “wake-keep” are ungrammatical.



(10)Screentouch: This bad grammatical expression gained currency in Nigeria and neighbouring West African countries with the influx of made-in-China stylus pen touchscreen not- so-smart phones in the mid 2000s. It was a novelty then; many in Nigeria had not seen it – or even thought such advanced technology was possible – before. So, they looked for a name to call it and “screentouch” came to mind, after all you just touch the screen and it starts working. In case you’ve still not figured it out yet, the correct thing to say is touchscreen and not “screentouch.

EFCC petition everyone mentioned in “Living things” by 9ice

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission says it will need a petition in order to commence a probe against social media celebrities such as Ray Hushpuppi, Investor BJ, Baddy Osha, Opa6, Bayo Otunola and others who were mentioned in the song titled ‘Living Things’ by hip hop artiste, Abolore Akande aka 9ice.

The EFCC was responding to a suggestion by one of its followers on Twitter that the commission should go after all those hailed by 9ice in the song.



In the 2016 song which was banned by the National Broadcasting Commission for promoting fraud, 9ice hailed many social media celebrities who have been accused of fraud and living an ostentatious lifestyle.



Twitter user, @onlydotcom, told the EFCC, “EFCC, sit down and listen to the song, Living Things, by 9ice and do your work with the fear of God. Nigeria will be better for it.”

The EFCC, while responding on Twitter, said it could not arbitrarily go after the persons mentioned in the song but would rely on petitions from members of the public.

The commission tweeted, “Do you mean that (song) could be a petition? Not enough anyway.

“However, the Eagle still requests a written statement to support any allegation that has been made.”

One of the persons hailed by 9ice in the controversial song is Ismail Mustapha aka Mompha, who was arrested by the EFCC for alleged N14bn fraud last month.

Mompha was also arrested with watches worth N60m.

Others mentioned in the song by 9ice include: Jaguar, Cash Music, Lord BT, Nicky Baller, Olu JC, Junior White, Ugo, Wassup London, M. White, Don KC and Lati.

Those mentioned are known to drive flashy cars such as Bentleys, Rolls Royce, Maybach, Ferraris and live in the best apartments in the world.

While some of them have had problems with the law in the past, others have never been arrested.

Meet politician who finished HND before secondary school.

There was mild drama on the floor of the Senate on Thursday as senators as on of the persons nominated by President Muhammadu Buhari for the board of the Niger Delta Development Commission, Otobong Ndem (Akwa Ibom) had his Higher National Diploma before possessing his Ordinary level certificate.

A member of the Senate committee on the NDDC, Senator Matthew Urhoghide from Edo State, called the attention of his colleagues to the inconsistency in the curriculum vitae of Ndem, nominated for director of projects.

He wondered why the nominee would claim he sat for his school certificate examination in 2007 whereas he obtained his Higher National Diploma certificate in 2002.

Urhoghide said, “From the CV before me, the nominee had school certificate in 2007, National Diploma in 1999 and Higher National Diploma in 2002.”

Senator George Sekibo added that Ndem claimed to have obtained his master’s degree in 2012 and Bachelor of Science degree in 2019.

The nominee admitted that there was an omission in his CV and clarified that he first obtained his first Ordinary Level Certificate in 1995 which was omitted in his CV.

The nominee also stated that he sat for another WASC examination in 2007 to enable him to study law after his HND programme.

He promised to avail the committee with the 1995 certificate before he was asked to take a bow and go.

Another drama ensued when Senator Rochas Okorocha said since Ndem had served in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, he should be asked ‘to take bow and go’.

He said the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, being a former member of the Rivers State House of Assembly, was accorded a similar courtesy during his screening by the Senate but his colleagues opposed to it.

A 12-year-old girl has blown open the sexual abuse she has suffered from her biological father who has been taking advantage of her.

The victim exposed her 52-year-old father named Noel Davis when she opened up to her school teacher during a class lesson on sex education.

Noel Davis who claimed to be a staff of Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti (EKSU) is also a Sierra Leonean citizen.

According to reports, he was immediately picked up on the order of the chairperson of Federation of Women Lawyer (FIDA), Mrs Seyi Ojo who was contacted by the school management.



The young girl told newsmen that the issue started few years ago, when her father told her about how special she meant to him and started caressing her breast.

She said it went on like that for some months before he began to have sex with her.

According to reports, the girl who is reportedly pregnant was taken to the hospital for further examinations when she started bleeding.

In an interview, Noel Davis said he did the act out of foolishness and pleaded for forgiveness. He said his wife. sometime ago, got to know about the act but it was settled amicably within the family.

Mrs Ojo who described that act as despicable and intolerable, handed him over to the police for further investigation and prosecution.

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed an anti-terrorism law, but for the country’s many churches, the signature sparked a demand for prayer and fasting.

The bill toughens punishment for acts deemed to be terrorism and for the organization of “mass unrest,” according to the Los Angeles Times. It would also introduce prison sentences of up to a year for those who fail to report such crimes.

Furthermore, Great Commission Ministries Chairman Hanny Haukka tells Charisma News the law entails:

Foreign guests are not permitted to speak in churches unless they have a “work permit” from Russian authorities
If a friend or relative from outside Russia wishes to share his/her faith in your home the guest will be fined and expelled from Russia.
Any discussion of God with non-believers is considered missionary activity and will be punishable.
Missionary activity will be permitted by special government permission. Example: If one traveling on a train shares his faith without written permission the offender will be taken into police custody for the duration of the journey and will be fined 50,000 rubles ($1,000).
Offenders from the age of 14-years-old will be subject to prosecution
Religious activity is no longer permitted in private homes. Most churches in Russia meet in homes.
Every citizen is obligated to report religious activity of neighbors to the authorities. Failure to be an informant is punishable by law.
One may pray and read the Bible at home but not in the presence of a non-believing person. You will be breaking the law and be punished.
If the church has purchased property it cannot be converted into a place of worship.
In church buildings, it is not permitted to invite people to turn to God. Worship services are permitted but making a non-believer a follower of Christ is against the law.
In response, thousands of churches across the country have come together to cry out to God.



“The church is appalled at the news of the new law. About 7,000 evangelical/protestant churches are in fasting and prayer at the moment over the news,” Haukka tells Charisma News via email.

Churches aren’t the only residents enraged by the law.

What’s more, critics are now declaring the Yarovaya laws, aka the “Big Brother,” laws, as a sign of the end times:

If these amendments come into force, prison sentences for certain non-violent “extremist” crimes will potentially be twice as long as, for example, murder committed in the heat of passion, which carries a maximum sentence of three years.
Despite receiving nearly unanimous support in parliament, the Yarovaya laws have triggered a flood of apocalyptic commentary. Many wonder why Russia’s already excessively harsh criminal laws are being made harsher.
The only official criticism of the legislation, however, has come from the Presidential Human Rights Council, which has highlighted ways in which the proposed amendments directly contradict the Constitution and existing laws. This criticism has been almost entirely ignored.
The Duma has already passed a number of laws that have harshened Russian law in the name of fighting terrorism and extremism. It criminalized “public calls for the violation of territorial integrity” and “rehabilitation of Nazism,” a direct affront to the freedom of speech. In 2013, it passed a law that allowed the state to confiscate property from individuals affiliated with terrorists, including their relatives.
The government has long used the “fight against terrorism and extremism” to justify repressive laws, no matter how obviously senseless they may be. As a result, Russia’s statutory framework can now be effectively used to target not only credible extremist threats, but also political opponents of the state. A large group of prominent Russian lawyers decried this problem in an open letter in 2013, saying that the “parliament’s legislative work has acquired a distinctly prohibitive and repressive character.”

In response, Haukka pleads with believers around the world to join with Russian churches in prayer and fasting.


“Russia is closing down in an awful way. The new law is in total conflict with the purpose and the task given to the church by the Lord. The law will send the church back into Soviet era Communist persecution,” he says.

Thugs Maim Students At Nsit Atai Council Secretariat

Students of tertiary institutions under the National Association of Nsit Atai Students were maimed, tortured and held hostage by armed hoodlums allegedly with Hon. Emem Ibanga, for hours on Monday, 28th October, for protesting non-payment of bursary and other student grants.

The students led by their Worldwide President, Comrade Inyang Effiong, had converged at the council secretariat by 8:09am, displaying placards and singing student unionism songs.
Like a bolt from the blue, a lad addressed as Ukpak, confronted the students, querying their mission, and why they locked a door at the secretariat.

Efforts by the students to explain their mission fell on deaf ears as the said Ukpak made frantic calls, and later said, “I go show una ruggedity today”, before speeding off in a motorcycle.


Barely fifteen minutes later, armed hoodlums numbering over 20 invaded the council secretariat, shooting indiscriminately and beating most of the students to pulp.

Some students and journalists were apparently lucky to escape. The hoodlums had blocked Odot junction, catching some of the fleeing students in the process.

Some of the escaping students and journalists were pursued with motorcycles from the council secretariat down to Airport Junction, before the hoodlums gave up the chase.

A blogger, Unyime Essien, lost his recording device while a journalist, Ubong Matthew, lost his wallet containing 12 Thousand Naira.

At the council secretariat, it was brutal as the students were locked up and thoroughly beaten. The students had their mobile phones, cash, shoes, bags, wristwatches and other valuables seized. Female students were reportedly abused.

The hoodlums are said to be members of a youth political support group, ONE FOR ALL. The council boss, Hon. Emem Ibanga is said to be the group’s matron.

At the Nsit Atai Divisional Police Station where some of the students were detained for about six hours, the council chairman was defiant as she accused the students of being sponsored to protest. “Tell anybody that sponsored you that nobody can remove me as chairman”, she roared.

Also at the police station, Paramount Ruler of Nsit Atai, Edidem Peter Okon Effiong, blamed the students, saying they should have obtained his permission before holding the protest.
He was given a car same day by the council chairman at the council secretariat.

Worldwide President of the students, Comrade Inyang Effiong was later forced to apologize to the council chairman at the police station.

The students were released from police cell around 5:00pm on Monday. The whereabouts of all the students could not be ascertained as at the time of filing this report.

The students has earlier told newsmen that the Council Chairman, Police and Paramount Ruler were duly notified of the protest through a letter.

Two persons have been reported dead in Ikoyi Prison Barracks Lagos State, after a policeman shot his wife, a prison wardress, to death and then himself, on Sunday, 27th October.

According to report, the wardress identified as Peace Edward, a mother of two, was killed after she had closed from work and retired home on Sunday.





The tragic incident reportedly happened around 9 to 10 pm when the the husband went for and shot her before the very eyes of their two children.



Report revealed that at the time of incident, Peace was donned in a black gown/dress with a gold cap.



Investigation also revealed that Mrs Edward, before her tragic death was attached to the intelligence department of the Nigeria Correctional Service.






A source reliably disclosed that before the incident, Mrs Edward, from Kogi state left her husband following infidelity allegations by the husband.



This is coming after the same intelligence unit headed by Assistant Comptroller general of Correctional service (the new name of the prison service) left Ikoyi Prison on Friday to investigate the alleged corruption in the prison service by Fisayo Soyombo.



Soyombo spent five days in a cell at Pedro Police Station, Shomolu, Lagos and eight days in Ikoyi prison.





The journalist assumed the name Ojo Olajumoke during his investigation which exposed corruption in Nigeria’s prisons and judicial system.

In a chat with NAN, Pa Munse-Bwaye who is the oldest man in Kiyi village in Kuje Council Area Abuja, said despite the fact that he had grownup children who had wives that took care of him, he wanted his own wife as no woman would be able to take care of him like his own wife. According to him, many people tried to talk him out of getting married again but he decided to stick to his decision as he loved Rukaya so much he wanted her as a wife.

Dr Maymunah Kadiri says regular sex cures mental disorder, who’s the Medical Director of Pinnacle Medical Services gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.

Pinnacle is a health and wellness centre for psychological, behavioral, and mental health related issues. According to her, sex is not just to nourish a woman’s body, but it is also beneficial to her mental health.

“As women, there is need for us to make our spouses our best friends if we want to be mentally healthy.

“Studies have shown that women who have more active sex and in long term relationships were less likely to be depressed than women who went without sex.

“So, more sex is important and essential. It is a remedy to curing women from having persistent headache.

“Low sexual drive, which leads to depression, should be looked into. A woman can be depressed when that sexual drive that she used to have is no more there.

Despite the stringent bail conditions set for Nnamdi Kanu, Igbos wasted no time fulfilling it. Sowore’s bail terms are nowhere near as tough as Nnamdi Kanu’s, yet no one has stood for him. Yet, while he was in detention and court, many people were talking tough in his defence.



It just tells you a lot about Igbo communal spirit as compared to other ethnic nationalities. If Sowore was Igbo, he would have been out of jail by now. An Igbo Senator, Enyinnaya Abaribe, risked jail, put his Senatorial office on the line, to stand as surety for Kanu. Are you trying to tell me that none of Sowore’s kinsmen have ordinary ₦50 million? I am yet to see a people who love themselves like the Igbo.



In America, believe it or not, Igbo unions give new comers loans to set up their own businesses. I have seen news stories of destitute Nigerians abroad who need assistance. That can never happen to an Igbo. Other Igbos in that community will rally round and rehabilitate him of her. Let us all learn that self love from Ndi’Igbo and Nigeria will be better for it.

Edward Onoja replaces Simon Achuba as Kogi Deputy Governor

The running mate to Governor Yahaya Bello in the November 16 governorship election for Kogi State, Edward Onoja, will be sworn in on Saturday as the new Deputy Governor of the state.

NAN reports that a seven-member Judicial Panel of Enquiry was set up by the State Chief Judge, Justice Nasir Ajanah, on August 26 to investigate the allegations of gross misconduct leveled against erswhile deputy governor Simon Achuba.
Chairman of the panel, Barrister John Baiyeshea, flanked by six other members of the panel, submitted the report to the Speaker, Prince Matthew Kolawole, at plenary.

Receiving the report, the Speaker, Matthew Kolawole, expressed appreciation to the chief Judge for appointing men of proven integrity as members of the panel.

Kolawole explained that the task of ensuring good governance required collective efforts of all, and thanked the members for the timely presentation of the report.

“We shall go into the reports thoroughly, look into the recommendations and do justice to it,” saying that the committee had gone into the annals of history in Nigeria as the first to perform a thorough work devoid of interference.

In his remarks, the Deputy Speaker of the House, Ahmed Mohammad (APC- Ankpa I), said the exercise followed due process and thanked everyone for being responsive to the development of Kogi.

NAN reports that the committee which was inaugurated on August 26 with a 90-day duration within which to complete the assignment and submit it’s report, completed the job in 49 days.

A motel at Ezekwuabo Otolo Nnewi close to St. Thomas Anglican Church (Akwudo) called Padded Joint caught fire in the early hours of this morning, 18th October 2019 at around 3:00 am. The source of the fire outbreak was unknown at the time of writing this report.

An eye witness who pleaded anonymity, said that the owner of the motel who is a woman (name withheld) but popularly called “Obodo Umu Anumanu, a native of Ndimgbu in Otolo but married in Mbanagu-Otolo was said to have closed the motel apartment where the three girls slept before leaving for her house last night before the fire outbreak.


The source also revealed that it is a normal occurrence for her to close the apartment and go home with the keys even if there are girls that did not go out that night for their usual business. The three girls could not escape because the rooms were locked and there was no way exit as at that time.

Efforts to get pictures of affected victims proved abortive because the Policemen that were detached to the scene blocked everyone that tried to do so including our reporter. The corpses of the deceased have been deposited at Nnewi Diocesan Hospital (Akwudo) pending when the families of the deceased locate their bodies.



We pray God give the family of the deceased the strength to bear the loss of their lost loved one, who happened to be unfortunate in the fire incident.

Abba Kyari , Saint or Daemon?

The office of Chief of Staff is a very powerful one, having borrowed it from the Americans( Haba, we borrowed their Presidential System too) it is only natural that such an office exhibits tendencies of the original, for in the United States of America, the Chief of Staff is also known by the sobriquet “ Gatekeeper” he holds access to the presidency and whether we like it or not has leverage over all forms of policy that government intends to pursue.


True, the Chief of Staff is as powerful or as powerless as the President wants him to be but more times than ever, Chief of Staffs have being more powerful than powerless.

Moving to Nigeria, the situation remains the same, Chief of Staffs are most times powerful than they are powerless, they in the case of our political trajectory so powerful that a number of them have moved from being in such roles to occupying the position they had earlier worked for, the likes of Babatunde Raji Fashola, Theodore Orji, Nyesome Wike and Gboyega Oyetola are living examples, others have also used such offices as launchpads to other political accomplishments.




At the higher level of the Presidency, the same obtains, in President Olusegun Obasanjo’s time the office wasn’t that powerful and one can understand due to the fact that the occupier himself is one person who doesn’t like to shirk responsibility except it runs counter to his image as a saint.

This same Chief of Staff, in Major General Abudallahi Muhammed showed his teeth in the days of Musa Umaru Yar Adua before he was forced out from government by those who felt they couldn’t trust him enough to shield the late Yar Adua from the coming tribulations his administration was to encounter. The likes of Gbolade Osinowo ,Mike Ogiadome former Deputy Governor of Edo State and Jones Arogbofa were said to be pushovers.




This could be said to be true as one would recall that under President Jonathan, this nation was alleged to have been governed by five women.

Enter Abba Kyari and Nigerians seem to have come to a new realization of the powers of a Chief Of Staff. Haven come out of political obscurity, Nigerians have in a manner come to allude to the Borno born technocrat every known or perceived misdeed of the Buhari administration, when they come hard on Buhari, Kyari is sure to take the rap, he is seen as the unseen hand behind every act of this government, he is the head of the cabal unbelievably holding President Buhari and his cabinet to ransom.

Should President Buhari move his head this way, it is Abba Kyari, should he dance to boboraba music, it is Abba Kyari that is pulling the strings. Should there be an imaginary wedding between President Buhari and a female minister, of course, it is Kyari that did the match making! Abba Kyari has been so vilified that one sometimes is forced to sympathize with him for taking a job as tough as his, as one knows that in Nigeria it is easy to paint one as a daemon than as a saint!

This is not to say that Kyari is a saint, for the office of Chief of Staff is surely not one for saints, it is more like an office where even a lamb sometimes takes the characteristics of a lion to protect the interests of his principal and the presidency, thus if Abba Kyari is painted as a daemon it may then not be that he is one per se but the fact that he is seen as inimical to the interests of many.

These interests range from those within the presidency to those within the cabinet, party as well as the opposition party, to them, Abba Kyari is thus the devil’s incarnate who does not wish President Buhari well. Come to think of it, should Abba Kyari have danced to their interests would these interests have painted him as such



Again,this piece is not in praise of Abba Kyari, like I earlier said, he is no saint and has definitely had his own share of mistakes as seen in some of the errors made by this administration. Perhaps, it is an admonition for the Chief of Staff to see himself as the linchpin
of the Buhari Administration, where it’s successes or failures largely pivot around his office, Abba Kyari has a date with destiny and an explanation to posterity.He can either make or mar the presidency, his image and the future of this nation.

He is said to be an intellectual, with degrees spanning from Cambridge to the University of Warwick, IMD and Harvard Business School, he should let Nigerians see this side of him; he must also bring his wealth of his experience
to the presidency, to shaping policies that will be to the benefit of the Buhari administration and to the progress of this.

Millions of Nigerians are praying that Buhari succeeds, it is in the hands of the likes of Abba Kyari amongst many others to ensure that the hopes of the people of this sleeping Giant of Africa is rekindled.

Three manhoods were reported missing at the BRT Bus-stop, Onipanu, Lagos, on Thursday, 10th October.



The manhoods were allegedly taken by a lady who escaped lynching by an irate mob and commuters who pounced on her over the allegation.





An eyewitness who pleaded anonymity, told NAN that a man suddenly raised the alarm that his manhood had disappeared immediately the young lady touched him in the bus.



She added that two other men standing close to the first man almost immediately raised the same alarm, after feeling their organs.



The eyewitness added that the bus driver had to take all the occupants of the bus to Onipanu Police Station to report the incident.





An unidentified police officer at the station confirmed the incident and said that the police were on top of the situation.



The three affected men have been taken to undisclosed hospital for confirmation of their claims.

Kizz Daniel’s former label, G-Worldwide Entertainment (GWW), has reignited its legal battle against Kizz Daniel for breach of contract.



The label in pursuit of this course, has engaged the law firm of Olisa Agbakoba Legal, led by Senior Counsel, Dr. Olisa Agbakoba, SAN, to prosecute its claims against the Kizz Daniel.





Following Kizz Daniel’s irregular exit from the recording contract he executed with GWW in 2017, coupled with the imprecise media bout instigated to damage GWW’s reputation, the Record Label has sought legal redress against the him before the relevant Courts in Nigeria, viz: a claim for breach of recording contract before the Lagos State High Court and another claim before the Federal High Court, Lagos for infringement of its intellectual property rights.



The matter pending at the High Court of Lagos State, which was commenced by an Originating Summons, came up on Monday, October 7, 2019 for Judgment before Hon. Justice Taofiquat Oyekan-Abdullai. However, GWW through its Solicitors informed the Court that it had filed an Application seeking two alternative prayers:

prayer to stay proceedings pending reference of the matter to Arbitration, as provided under the enabling contract between the parties and
a prayer granting leave to amend its originating process.






The Court, after hearing Counsel’s submissions on behalf of GWW, with respect to the reasons necessitating the application, appreciated the peculiarity of the circumstances, which is predicated on the fact that the former counsel representing the Label, argued the Originating Summons in defiance of the label’s instructions to defer steps in the suit, and ultimately withdraw the suit in view of its decision to engage another law firm.

Consequently, the Court adjourned the matter for the hearing of the Label’s application to January 21, 2020.



Furthermore, in seeking for redress for the damage suffered at the hands of Kizz Daniel, the label is praying for the following reliefs from the High Court; General damages in the sum of Two Hundred Million Naira (200,000,000), special damages for breach of contract in the sum of N179,499,957.00 (One Hundred and Seventy-Nine Million, Four Hundred and Ninety-Nine Thousand, Nine Hundred and Fifty-Seven Naira) and N150, 000, 000 (One Hundred and Fifty Million Naira) for contract exit fees, among other reliefs.





The Chief Executive Officer of the Label, Mr. Festus Ehimare, has said that the essence of the legal actions is to enjoin Nigerian artistes, to inculcate a habit whereby they respect the sanctity of contracts, as opposed to playing victims once they realize they have breached the terms of a valid and legally binding contract, as a result of their hurried exit after becoming famous and in-demand.



He further advised upcoming artistes to refrain from the practice of administering medicine after death, and urged them to ensure that they uphold the terms of their recording contract in good faith.
