The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), on Monday, said there was no going back on the Friday next week planned strike

A statement by the Media and Publicity Secretary of IPOB, Emma Powerful, said the strike is meant to express its anger, in memory of those who disappeared, allegedly killed and tortured by the Nigerian Army through Operation PYTHON DANCE 2, last year in Isiama Afaraukwu, Umuahia, Abia State.



The group said its anger was directed at Igbo politicians and Ohanaeze Ndigbo in particular, that allegedly conspired with the army to invade the home of its leader, Nnamdi Kanu with the intention of killing him and his parents, lamenting that their whereabouts still unknown, one year after.

Powerful said: “It has never been recorded in the history of post-independence Nigeria that grand mothers up to 70 years of age were locked up in prison overnight.

He added: ‘‘Shamefully, the Igbo race has acquired another dubious distinction of being the very first people to have their women publicly humiliated and stripped of every shred of human dignity. Who knows what will come next.

“At a time when more bodies of innocent victims of Operation Python Dance 2, killed last year by the Nigerian Army are being discovered in mass graves in Abia State; at a time when we are still burying those killed and dumped in mass graves across Biafraland in September 2017, here we are today with Nigeria military once again, poised to invade the South East, to slaughter the weak and innocent in their annual genocidal ritual in the name of yet another Operation Python Dance 3.

“No sane society or a people worth their salt will tolerate such brazen conquest and humiliation. What was once considered a reprehensible abomination in Igboland is now the norm’,’ he lamented.

The police have arrested 31 suspected kidnappers and armed robbers terrorising who asked for Ransom for the release of Kaduna Cleric, commuters on Abuja-Kaduna highway and Kaduna-Birnin, Gwari-Funtua-Zamfara expressway

The suspects were said to include three bandit kingpins who were killing people and destroying communities in Zamfara State and suspected kidnappers of Sheik Mohammed Alqarkawi who collected N12 million ransom before they released the Kaduna cleric.



The Force spokesman, acting DCP Jimoh Moshood, said in a statement on Monday that the suspects were apprehended by the IGP Special Tactical Squad operatives with 22 AK 47 rifles, one Lar rifle, two single barrel guns, one locally made pistol, one Dane gun and 247 rounds of ammunition.

It added that most of the suspects had confessed their roles in various crimes.

“Most of the victims, some of whom were rescued from captivity, have equally identified them as being responsible for the abductions, armed robberies and snatching of their vehicles,” the statement noted.

Fayemi, has filed his defence to the petition by the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and outgoing Deputy Governor of Ekiti State in the July governorship election in Ekiti State, Professor Kolapo Olusola Eleka.

In the 2,558-page defence with over 3,000 documents attached as exhibits, Fayemi averred that he won the gubernatorial election of July 14, 2018 and urged the tribunal to dismiss the petition of Prof. Eleka for lacking in merit.

The team of lawyers armed with 3,500 exhibits and 1,009 witnesses were led to the tribunal by three Senior Advocates of Nigeria, Mr Hakeem AfoIabi (SAN), Mr. Yomi Aliyu (SAN) and Dr. Kayode Olatoke (SAN).

Addressing the press after filing the petition, Dr. Kayode Olatoke (SAN), who spoke on behalf of his colleagues, said Eleka’s petition was a waste of time as it lacked substance, and expressed optimism that the case would be dismissed by the tribunal.

He explained further that Fayemi won fair and square in 12 out of the 16 local government areas of the state, while Eleka won in four.

In his response to Eleka’s petition bordering on alleged over-voting in some polling units, Olatoke dismissed this claim as frivolous and baseless.

He said Eleka’s first ground in his petition was based on Fayose’s phantom indictment, which had been nullified and set aside by a competent court.



Olatoke continued, “The second ground of Eleka’s petition is alleged over-voting, which is another false claim. In any case, the petition in itself is self-defeating.

“The third ground is on deliberate voiding of votes as alleged by Eleka but in actual fact, majority of the voided ballots were votes meant for Fayemi, while the fourth ground is on vote buying which is baseless as it was, Eleka’s sponsor, Fayose that was guilty of this.

“Fayemi won convincingly based on his popularity,” Olatoke said.

He lamented that the country was deeply divided along ethnic and religious lines thereby creating suspicion and lack of trust among various ethnic group in the country.

Jonah Jang disclosed this yesterday, when he presented letter of intent to contest the 2019 Presidential election to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

“I’ve come on behalf people of my constituency, Plateau State, the Middle Belt of Nigeria, and the entire nation. I’ve come to formally and officially announce my interest and decision to join the contest for the Presidency of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in the coming 2019 elections.

“The clamour for restructuring will be addressed, in line with the provisions of our laws. Restructuring and reorganising Nigeria to the comfort of all Nigerians is a task I will face with commitment. If we have operated a system for 58 years and Nigerians are asking for a review of the structures, there is no need to delay it further.

“Today, Nigeria has increasingly become a deeply divided nation, and the bases for our unity are being eroded. We face enormous security challenges emanating from the proliferation of small arms and light weapons, the increased wave of armed banditry, leading to the annihilation of complete, hitherto, peaceful communities, armed communal clashes, religious fundamentalism, armed robbery, insurgency and unhindered kidnapping, among others.”

Jang, who acknowledged cheers from supporters who turned out from across the Middle Belt, said the region has supported and made several presidents, yet, the country has not produced a democratic elected president.

“Our party, the PDP, has zoned the presidency to the North, for the purpose of the 2019 elections. The Middle Belt is at the centre of the North; it is the glue of the North, the bridge of Nigeria, the guarantor of national unity and oneness, and has sustained the North over time.

“Sadly, however, this zone has not produced an elected president under our constitution. There have been arguments in our party recently, to the effect that the zone of the north, with the highest number of registered voters, should be given the presidential flag of the party.

“This is not the position of the party; it is only the opinion of some aspirants. The North Central and Middle Belt also have millions.

The Osun State Government has enlisted another set of 20,000 youths for engagement in Osun Youths Empowerment Scheme (OYES), the offshoot of the World Bank/Federal Government’s Youth Employment and Social Support Operation (YESSO) and NPower programme.

OYES is one of the flagship Social Intervention programmes of the Governor Rauf Aregbesola’s administration for youths empowerment. It is a rolling scheme of two years for each of the batches which commenced in 2010.



Speaking with journalists, in Osogbo, on Friday, the OYES Commandant, Col. Enibunkun Oyewole (rtd) , said the newly-enlisted beneficiaries of the scheme would be trained on leadership, social, cultural and economic studies, attitudinal studies and physical training to make a young person holistic.

Oyewole said the youths will be taught not only how to get job placement easily, but how to be enterprising and be independent economically in line with the tenet of hard work and virtuous character after which they will be deployed into their Local Governments for community service.

He said the training would start on Monday, August 27, in all the local government areas, run for three weeks and end on Friday September 14, which would be followed by the swearing-in of the cadet by Governor Aregbesola.

Noting that the selection process was ICT-based and gender sensitive with a lot of fairness in it, he said: “It is not only Osun indigenes that are qualified, but all residents of the state regardless of where they come from”.



Oyewole also said the offshoot of the scheme were the World Bank/Federal Government’s Youth Employment and Social Support Operation (YESSO) and NPower programme that were launched in Abuja.

According to him, over 42,000 youth have benefitted from the scheme, stating that peace, calmness and good behavior have been restored in the lives of jobless youths.

“Over the years, the scheme has transformed the lives of majority of beneficiary youths, as the savings from the N10,000 stipend has grown to something big and make them independent.

“The cadet work for just three hours in a day after which some of them engage in other productive things that can bring in extra income for them.

“Some of the beneficiaries are now landlords who have built their houses through the money earned from the scheme and grown to something big.

“With savings from their monthly stipend of N10,000 per volunteer, it was shocking to discover how they have turned their meagre income into small and cottage scale businesses with further assistance from their relations”.

The Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ahmad Ali, has declared his intention to vie for the governorship election of Kwara State in the forthcoming general elections.

Ali made this known when friends and associates from the Kwara Central Senatorial District thronged his residence in Ilorin as part of the Sallah festivities.

The governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party, (SDP) in the forthcoming governorship election in Osun state, Senator Iyiola Omisore, has debunked rumour making the rounds that he was planning to return back to the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP).

Addressing newsmen at the weekend shortly after paying homage to the Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, Oba Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran in his palace at Ilesa as part of lined up programme to flag off his campaign, Omisore said rather than moving back to the party, a lot of PDP chieftains will soon join his campaign train.

Omisore who revealed alleged plan by the incumbent, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola to ensure that Osun state remain indebted to him and his cronies for at least a period of 15 years even after leaving office, said that the plan is embedded in a fake contract document.

He claimed that the office of the Accountant General was immediately directed to issue an Irrevocable Stranding Payment Order (ISPO) in favour of Slavaborgu Nigeria Ltd, under which arrangement, monies due to Osun State Government from the Federation is subjected as first line charge, to monthly deduction at source of N337Million payable to the company for the next 15 years.

Omisore pointed out that there are many loans obtained by the Aregbesola administration allegedly designed to siphon from the Osun state Government coffers monies and assets lawfully belonging to the people of Osun state.



“Even as we speak, Aregbesola’s government has started preparing post contract ‘variation reports’ on all projects executed by it for the past eight years.

“It is against this background that the struggle and contest for continuity by the APC and its offshoot in the ADP is situated and should be understood by all,” Omisore said.

He urged President Muhammad Buhari and the Finance Minister to disallow the latest N337 million monthly deduction from Osun state coffers into the account of any bogus company.

with Abiola Ajimobi, governor of Oyo state, on Thursday was more or less a set-up by the governor’s team.

In an interview with PUNCH, the musician said he demanded a private meeting with the governor but was shocked when pictures of his team and that of the governor surfaced online a few minutes into the meeting.

The pictures drew the ire of Ayefele’s supporters who felt he succumbed to begging over the demolition of his Music House by the government.

But the musician, who spoke through David Ajiboye, his publicist, said he had to come to the public to the records straight.



Ajiboye said Ajimobi told them that he could have saved the situation if only they had come to beg him.

“On Thursday, we were at a meeting organised by the Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria (BON) at Golden Tulip when we got a call from one of the governorship aspirants in the state. He told us that the governor would like to see us,” he said.

“I was at the BON meeting with Yinka Ayefele and his younger brother. We felt that since they were the ones that invited us, we should honour the governor’s call; so we excused ourselves from the BON meeting and went to the governor’s office.

“We got there at about 12pm but the governor did not get to his office till about 4pm. We did not leave the governor’s office until about 7pm. I was at the meeting with Yinka Ayefele and his younger brother.

“When the governor came into the office, we all prostrated to greet him being that he is older than us and we told them that we did not want cameras. We wanted a closed-door meeting with the governor so he asked the pressmen to excuse us but his private photographer did not leave the room. We noticed that while we were talking with the governor, the photographer was taking our pictures and uploading them on their Twitter handle immediately.

“The governor later invited his team to come and join us in the meeting; his team comprised the commissioner for information, a governorship aspirant in the state and about four special assistants. The governor told us his grievances. He told us that he could have saved the situation if only we had come to see him. He felt we ought to have come to beg him, and our chairman, Yinka Ayefele, pointed it out that we had since told the commissioner for information to book an appointment with the governor. He further said that he called the SSG to help him book an appointment with the governor even before this incident happened and the commissioner corroborated his claims but said that the governor was unavailable at the time.”



Ajiboye said role of traditional rulers in the meeting was a coincidence as they were in the governor’s office as of the time Ayefele and Ajimobi met.

“Coincidentally, there were about ten monarchs who were also waiting to see the governor as at the time we were waiting for him,” he said.

“They were led by the alaafin of Oyo; so when the obas saw Ayefele, they decided to rally round him. After they had met with the governor, they came back to meet Ayefele and possibly plead on his behalf to the governor.

“That was when they allowed the cameramen to enter and we felt it was more or less a set-up because we wanted a close -door meeting. We did not want cameras but there was nothing we could do because we were at the governor’s office.

“The monarchs appealed to the governor to help Ayefele rebuild the music house. After the monarchs left, the governor also left us with his team and told us to iron things out with them. They claimed that they wrote several letters to us but that we ignored them; they went ahead to say that we did not have a certificate of occupancy for the building and we showed them all the proof.

The Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige, has said he is considering contesting the Anambra Central Senatorial seat on the platform of the All Progressives Congress in the 2019 general elections.

Ngige disclosed his ambition on Monday at a briefing at Obosi in the Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State.

Ngige represented the Anambra Central District in the Senate between 2011 and 2015 after defeating a former minister of Information, the late Prof. Dora Akunyili, of the All Progressives Grand Alliance in the 2011 general elections.

Ngige, who claimed he was under pressure from both Anambra and South-East leaders to contest the poll, said he would declare his official position in two weeks.

He said, “The people who are pressurising me are my constituents; the people of Anambra State and some prominent people from the South-East.

“We are all in agreement that we need to go and better the milieu of the ninth Senate. Many people feel that the present eighth Senate has been engulfed in a battle of supremacy with the executive and they feel that some of us who have tested the executive and legislature should go back. The Senate is not for kindergartens.

“I am considering it, I am consulting and the result of my consultations will be made known in a fortnight.”

Reminded of allegations that the APC government of President Muhammadu Buhari had not been felt in Anambra State and the entire South-East, Ngige described the allegation as deliberate falsehood and a campaign of calumny from the opposition.

He said, “The Federal Government of Nigeria has been generous to the people of the South-East; I am from the South-East. You see the President promised us infrastructure development and the South-East has not been left out.

“When you talk about infrastructure, you are talking about transport, road infrastructure, air infrastructure, sea, health and power infrastructure. In all these areas,

Last week, the Twitter account of popular blogger Linda Ikeji was suspended. At the time of writing this piece, Ikeji’s account is still in digital purgatory, arising from an ongoing action by Twitter to purge its platform from bots and spammy accounts and clamp down on users who violate its policies.

Ikeji’s suspension has seen Nigerian Twitter devolve into debates and hot takes. Her offence? Most likely the sexualised content involving two children published on her eponymous blog, looped from her Twitter account and was reported by the children’s mother. Given the nature of the internet and how things go viral, Ikeji’s blog joined a multitude of sites amplifying that particular content as fodder, and thus exposing the minors involved to all kinds of abuse and toxicity.

The Linda Ikeji Blog has become infamous for attracting the worst of Nigerians. Perhaps because Linda has promoted a culture where her readers are allowed to self regulate their comments and expression had led to an aggregation of the most vile commenters, the apex dispensers of the Nigerian internet vitriol. The reputation Ikeji gained from unethical gossip blogging has been bad, repeated cases of privacy violation that can fill a book and provided the blueprint for her successful blogging trajectory. The aforementioned sexualised content was reportedly taken down by other platforms, as requested, but Ikeji didn’t respond when the legal representatives for the family in question reached out to her.

Although her blog is still fully operational, Twitter has played its part; its policy on publishing private details or property on the platform is abundantly clear, and it’s considered as one of the most serious violations of the Twitter Rules. A certain Gay man has been arrested for breaking into the house of a non gay man and trying to force himself on the other man sexually.

The unnamed gay man confessed to breaking into the house at Rariya Quarters, Bauchi, around one o’clock in the early hour of the day in an attempt to rape an occupant.

A female student from Obafemi Awolowo university was arrested yesterday for for almost killing a friend of hers.

Saraki who spoke to New York-based Tv, Bloomberg on Tuesday in an interview at his residence in the capital, Abuja said, “I am consulting and actively considering the presidential seat come 2019, I believe I can make the change,” adding that if he makes up his mind to run, it would be on the platform of the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has commended Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo, for his intervention in the blockade of the National Assembly complex.

Tinubu gave the commendation while addressing party members at the state secretariat of the party on Tuesday.

He said the response of Osinbajo in sacking the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS) helped to douse the tension created by the blockade.

5 TYPES OF WOMEN YOU DON’T WANNA MARRY.

Few days ago, I wrote about the Types of Men Ladies shouldn’t consider Dating, talk more marrying. Lots of guys made me their enemies for that, especially on Nairaland. Well, this time I come for the ladies.

In as much as there are men who shouldn’t be married, there are also women, men should avoid marrying. Marrying some certain types of ladies is like bringing destruction into your entire life.

I will be discussing five types of women you should never ask out, if you do you are on your way to hell.

1. The Ungodly.
Every family needs a cover, which of course is the man; but there are situations where the man might not be able to stand for the family in prayers, then the woman should stand in gap, this is where marrying a woman of faith comes in. A Godly woman will stand for her family in the time of trial while a woman who doesn’t understand the spiritual way of fighting battles will leave the family exposed. When choosing a life partner, the first thing you want to check is if the woman can fight the devil when you are weak. A woman who can stand in gap in prayers, can stand up for every trial in marriage.

2. The Non-Prudent.
People can be non-prudent in different ways. A woman can be termed non prudent if she can not do some simple house chores like washing dishes, mopping the flour, washing the toilets and of course making dishes. Which means at the end of the day, you either buy food, or employ someone to do the chores. But all these might not be a problem where their is enough money. The main prudence problem starts with a woman who doesn’t know when to stop purchasing. Some women can buy anything they sight. They don’t care how much it costs, how much will be reduced from family savings, all they understand at the time they want a particular substance is just getting it.

Let me make this point clear, It means if she wants a pair of shoe that costs $1000, and the kid’s school fee is $1000 , she will go for the shoe not the school fee. This kind of a woman should be studied and left alone. Family requires planning and understanding the fact that funds can’t be spent anyhow.

3. Always Nagging.
Women are built to nag, fine, but some are just naturally bitter, sad and always complaining about every single thing. A woman who complains about every single thing, situations and circumstances should be left alone. Even God who is the forever loving personality hates complains. You are never gonna satisfy her, everything will always have a way of “It should have been done that way”. And Ow! Your opinion hardly counts. She is the woman who believe everything can be done in a way different from how they are been done. Which means she will get angry at everything done, she will be too arrogant to be corrected and too full of herself to say thank you. Shakushaku-Flee bro.

4. Non Reserve
I got a reply that says everyone have their various needs and desires. A guy even said some people love people who talk too much. Hey! Nobody love people who talk too much. Science have proven people can only accommodate and adapt to noise, nobody love noise. No human love noise naturally, people get used to it. And this same way, a lot of people out there in the world will never get used to been noise maker.

A woman should be virtue enough to be quiet. A non reserve woman will bring.

I read something on a friend’s status, it say ” delete all the songs on your cell phone, then leave your favorite. Then keep listening to your favorite song forever “… That’s how marriage is.

A lot of people including myself finds that scary right?

How you will end up with just one person for the rest of your entire life, some people can’t even handle that thought, they believe the possibility of them staying with one person for a lifetime is never gonna be visible, well that’s not my topic for today.

I will be discussing about five types of men you should never marry.

1.The talkative.

Men ought to be quiet, reserve and responsible but the interesting thing is not all men Possess these characteristics. Some of them posses the most terrible of the attitude you don’t want to end up spending the rest of your life with, For example, man who talks too much will always give you problem and there will be a lot of fights, arguments and hidden anger in case you are the type who will love to always keep quiet anytime he’s talking.

My point is you can not afford to marry a man who talks too much, it’s not acceptable that a man should have the inability to know when to keep quiet.

In fact a woman who talks too much is a problem, but a man who talks too much is a bigger problem, there will hardly be a reason to over look trivia matters.

2.The complacent.

It’s actually very good to be contented with whatever you have, but complacency is way out of the sensible thing you want to get involved in.

The same way I will advice a man not to try marry a materialist is the same way I will advice a woman not to marry a complacent man, a complacent man is also a material less man, he is okay with absolute poverty.

These are men, who once they see food to eat once a day, they don’t mind sleeping all day, they don’t want to go the extra mile to get more.

They are complacent with the very little they have.

3. The talk before thinking.

We have an higher percentage of Yoruba guys in this category, I’m Yoruba so it’s not tribalism abuse or probably because I don’t like Yoruba guys, it’s the pure truth.

You will notice some men just talk, talk, and talk, at the end of it when you hear what started the whole conversation and how it ended you will feel irritated.

This often happen to men who do not think before they talk, and this mostly happen to men who do not study situations, people, their reactions before talking.

Men in this category are often consider as been foolish, but the major truth is they ain’t disciplined.

A man who doesn’t think before he talks will always hurt you with his words and there will be more time for pain than happiness, so why choose such a man?

4.The Egocentric.

Everyone has Ego, so it’s not like having ego is a bad thing but been egocentric is actually bad.

While I was going to work this, I saw a terrible traffic on the way… From third Mainland Bridge was a serious holding, passing through Adeniji was worse so I kept wondering what could have happened that caused such traffic delay.
But on getting to Iyana Woroshoki I realised the accident which of course was a fire accident might have been the reason for the traffic.

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has cautioned the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) and other security agencies against any attempt to use their men to harass and intimidate leaders of the PDP, particularly the governorship candidate of the party in the forthcoming governorship election in Osun State, Sen. Ademola Adeleke.

Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Prince Diran Odeyemi who, stated this in a statement in Osogbo, the state capital, on Tuesday, alleged that some powerful members of the ruling party, the APC, were using policemen to harass Adeleke over ‘largely unsubstantiated allegations regarding his certificate.’

He added that, “regardless of the antics of the All Progressive Congress (APC) and its accomplices, Osun’s people have resolved to end the 7 years of hunger under Mr. Rauf Aregbesola in the September 22nd election.”

He added that rather than acting as an attack dog for the APC, the PDP “would appreciate the police to form themselves into a political party and come out clear as enemy of PDP.”

He warned that the people of Osun State would go all out to monitor their votes to ensure that the outcome of the poll reflects the wish of the majority.

“We are just advising the police to take a plunge into politics rather than serving as an attack dog for APC. The organisation should register Nigeria Police Personnel Party (NPPP) and present candidate for election.
