Assaulting Amotekun Officer will attract N250, 000 fine or jail



Assaulting an Amotekun officer will attract a fine of N250,000 or a prison term of one month or both.



However, an Amotekun officer cannot be sued for whatever he does in the course of duty but only what he does in his personal capacity.



This is according to the Ekiti State Security Network Agency Bill 2020 which has been submitted to the Ekiti State House of Assembly.



Other South-West governors have submitted similar bills to their respective houses of assembly.

Section 36 of the bill states, “Any person who wilfully hinders, delays, obstructs or assaults a member of the Ekiti State Amotekun Corps in the course of the exercise of his lawful duties under this law shall be guilty of an offence and liable on conviction to imprisonment for a term of one month or to a fine not exceeding two hundred and fifty thousand naira only (N250,000.00) or to both such fine and imprisonment.”



The bill further states that the security organisation must be headed by a retired law enforcement agent who is not lower than the rank of Major or its equivalent in any other security agency.



Section 14 reads in part, “There shall be appointed by the governor, a corps commander for the agency, who shall be a retired law enforcement officer or military officer not below the rank of a major or its equivalent in other security services.



“The corps commander shall be a person with at least 10 years cognate experience in security matters; (b) be responsible for the day-to-day running of the affairs of the Ekiti State Amotekun Corps and implementation of the decisions of the board; (c) hold meetings with his counterparts in other states, particularly Ogun, Lagos, Ondo, Osun and Oyo states on a quarterly basis or as may be collectively determined by the corps commanders in those dates.”



The bill also provides for the establishment of an Amotekun board which is expected to meet not less than four times a year.



The bill will comprise the Commissioner of Police in the state and representatives of other military representatives.



Section 6 reads in part, “There is established for the agency a governing board (referred to in this law as the board). The board shall comprise: a chairman, who shall be a person of proven integrity with experience in security matters and shall be a retired law enforcement or military officer not below the rank of a Major or its equivalent in the other security services; the commissioner of police in the state or his/her representative; one member representing the different services of the Armed Forces of Nigeria operating in the state; the state commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in the state or his/her representative; the Executive Secretary, Ekiti State Security Trust Fund or his/her representative; one representative each of the Community Development Associations drawn from the three senatorial zones the state; the Chairman, Ekiti State Council of Traditional Rulers or his representative; the Ekiti State Amotekun Corps Commander.”

A 30-year-old man was on Sunday caught with what is suspected to be an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) at the Sabon Tasha branch of the Living Faith Church, (aka Winners) Chapel in Kaduna.



This is Just as the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pa Enoch Adeboye led members on a prayer walk to decry insecurity in the country.

It was gathered from a source at the church that this was not the first time the suspect was coming to the church, adding that just last week, he came but was sent away.

A source who is also a member of the church, Brother Ekpenyong Edet, who said he is the Chief Security Officer of the parish confirmed to DAILY POST that the suspect was monitored on a CCTV Camera carrying the bag into the church auditorium.



According to him, the suspect successfully gained access and was already seated before his bag was searched and the explosive device was found.



Edet who said he was not in a position to hand out details to the press, appealed to our correspondent to wait to get details from the presiding pastor when the service was over.



He, however, said the suspect had been handed over to the police and moved to the Sabon Tasha Division of the Nigeria Police Force.

An officer at the Sabo Police station confirmed that the suspect had actually been brought there when our reporter went to get more details but directed our reporter to speak with the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO).



Efforts to reach the PPRO as at the time of filing this report proved abortive as he did not take his calls nor responded to a text message sent to his WhatsApp messages

Olumba Olumba: Why we don’t see Jesus Christ as lord



The Brotherhood Of The Cross And Star is a religious organisation founded by their spiritual leader, Obu, in the year 1956, in Calabar, Cross River State. So many people have been asking whether, Brotherhood of the Cross and Star is a church.

Husband impregnates mother-in- law after losing wife



A woman goes to babysit for her son-in-law. But she ends up carrying, in the deal, two babies for the same man: one in her arms and the other in her stomach. It’s a story with various angles and tangles to it, a tragedy of immense proportion, with many loops and layers. And, untangling it, understanding it, is not going to prove an easy task for many a mind.

Mr. Christopher Chori, son-in-law to Mr. Silvanus Kwange is in a very serious dilemma right now after impregnating his father-in-law’s second wife, Priscilla Kwange. If he can turn back the hands of time to avert the emotional trauma he is going through, he would have gladly done so. But as things stand, it is already too late. The horse has already bolted, locking the gate after that is meaningless.

Mr. Kwange, a Tiv from Taraba State, has been married to his second wife for about 10 years. Their marriage came after he lost his first wife, Rose Kwange, to a fatal motor accident. But before she met her untimely death, the late Rose had a daughter and the only child with Mr. Kwange. It was after her death that her widower husband got married to Priscilla. But unfortunately, in the past 10 years, the couple never had a child. And this development had always caused quarrels in their marriage as the man’s family members strongly believe that the fault is Priscilla’s. They cited Rose’s daughter as proof of Kwange’s virility.

Kwange who was in a quandary over his wife’s inability to conceive, equally believed that she is the problem and made several attempts to send her packing. But Chori, their son-in-law, a Mada from Kokona Local Government Area of Nasarawa State who got married to Faith, the man’s only daughter, prevailed on him not to do so. He was said to always intervene, telling his father-in-law that God is the only One who gives children. He is said to have also advised him to seek medical attention or try some fertility drugs if he was not too keen on seeing medical or fertility experts. But he had always refused, noting that there was no problem with his body and citing Faith as a proof of the point he was trying to make.

Chori was said to always been on the phone with his father-in-law and mother-in-law trying to appeal to them to see reasons and that their inability to have a child should not constitute a clog in the wheel of their marital bliss. All the same that did not deter Kwange from looking for other ways out of the problem. Unconfirmed sources told newsmen that he is into all sorts of an extramarital relationship with other women in his bid to get a child but so far none had produced the expected result.

On Priscilla’s part, as Africans would say, during those years, she traversed seven lands and seven seas in her search of a child she would call her own. In her desperation to keep her home, she did a lot but without any of her numerous medical efforts yielding tangible results. Sources say there is no known fertility hospital she has not visited in Taraba, Makurdi, Abuja, and Jos, with the help of their son-in-law, Chori. But it was all to no avail. It was in the course of these fruitless searches for a solution that the devil chose to strike in a most embarrassing and shameful way.



Sometimes, towards the end of 2018, Faith, who had been married to Christopher for about four years but without a child to bless their union, suddenly took in and gave birth to a baby boy in May 2019. Good news! But the sad news is that she died shortly afterward, leaving the poor baby without a mother. She was said to have died from complications that resulted from her delivery of the baby through caesarian section. She was buried within one week of the incident. Faced with such a difficult situation, Kwange asked his second wife to move to Lafia to assist with taking care of the newborn baby Faith left behind.

One thing led to the other, and after spending seven months in Lafia with her son-in-law who works with one of the federal government agencies, Priscilla was found pregnant. Investigation shows that within that period, she had regular sex with her son-in-law. Pregnancy later became the result of her sexual escapades.

Right now, her husband, Mr. Sylvanus Kwange, an ex-serviceman, is livid with anger over the sordid development. Speaking exclusively with newsmen in Lafia on his arrival from Jalingo, the man who is boiling like a kettle of hot water, threatened to deal with both his wife and his son-in-law for daring to commit such sacrilege. He vowed that his wife would never step her foot into his house again, come what may. He affirmed that his wife had been in Lafia for about seven months.

“That is to say, it is about seven months that I have not seen her. We only talk on the phone,” he said. “I know the importance of her coming to stay in Lafia for some period of time, to take care of the newborn baby whose mother is late. I thought it was my own responsibility to help my son-in-law and the new baby of my late daughter. So, I allowed my own wife to come and help.” Then he turned to you and asked rhetorically: “Is that an offense?”

You asked how he learned about the abominable news. His words: “Two weeks ago, a friend ran into my wife in Lafia and called to tell me that he saw her with a bulging stomach. I was speechless with shock and asked, how come? I didn’t want to believe it or confront her on the phone. She has been here since June last year. I decided to visit them to also see how the little boy is doing. I was coming with so much joy, not knowing that I was coming to meet disaster waiting for me. When I got to the house of my son-in-law, I met the shock of my life as I saw my own wife with a protruding stomach. I stood transfixed to the spot as I looked at her, trying to recall if there was any time she told me she was pregnant but I could not remember.

“I quickly asked my wife what happened and she broke down and confessed that Mr. Chori seduced her and they had sex and it became frequent and the result was the pregnancy. She started begging me for forgiveness. She said that she actually allowed him to have his way as a way of checking her fertility status and it turned out to be this way and that she refused to abort it because she has spent 10 solid years with me without a child. She said it is almost getting late as she is no longer getting younger.

She pleaded with me not to cause her any embarrassment or disgrace by exposing her to ridicule and shame. She actually begged me to handle the matter in a mature way, but I’m yet to get out of the shock seeing my own wife impregnated by my own son-in-law. My anger knows no bounds. If it were during my days as a military man, I would have used my gun to kill the two of them. But if I do that now, I will be taking the law into my hands. What I will do now is to go back to Taraba. I have asked my wife not to come back to my house. As for Christopher Chori, I leave him to his conscience.”

That, Christopher Chori insists, is even a worse punishment than being killed as he doesn’t know how to deal with the continuous tugging of his conscience. For him, it would have been better if Kwange had used the military-issued rifle he was talking about to kill him outright. It would have shortened the emotional trauma he is going through right now.

His story: “After the death and burial of my wife, my mother-in-law came to stay with me here in Lafia, to help look after the baby because my mother is no longer alive; she died many years ago. I work with one of the federal government agencies in Lafia. My younger sister who is equally staying with me is in SS2 and could not combine her studies with taking care of the baby. So my father-in-law asked his wife to come because his first wife who happens to be my real mother-in-law is late.

“I live in two-bedroom apartment. So when she came to take care of the baby with the assistance of my younger sister, I left one of the rooms for them to use while I stay in the other room but I come home regularly to check on them and to ensure that she does not lack anything especially when my younger sister is out in school.

“In the first one month of her stay with me, nothing happened but during the second month, which was July 2019, something happened that left me with so much guilty feelings. My sister went to school. I did not go to work that day, leaving me and my mother-in-law alone in the house. It rained the previous night all through and the weather was very cold. I was checking on them in their room to see how my newborn baby was doing. But when I opened the door, I was shocked to see my mother-in-law almost naked as she wore only lingerie with no underwear.

I could clearly see the outline of her firm breasts and her private part. I tried to turn back but she said I should come in. When I hesitated, she walked up to me and grabbed me, asking me why I was behaving like a small boy. She asked whether she was not looking attractive to me. I told her I could not do what she had in mind with her as I saw her as my own mother as well as the mother-in-law.

Dr Samuel Akingbehin, the National President of Environmental Health Officers Association of Nigeria (EHOAN), on Thursday, advised state governments to set up Lassa fever screening centres to prevent the spread of the disease.

The EHOAN president said that Lassa fever was close to ebola in character, and it could terminate a whole community if not quickly controlled at the early stage.

Akingbehin in Lagos against the backdrop of Lassa fever outbreak in some parts of the country stressed proactive measure rather than curative.

“Those states where the disease has not reached should quickly set up control and preventive measures to check it and protect the lives of the affected people.

“Anybody coming into the states especially from the affected states should be screened and placed on the watch list.

“Any suspected carrier should be quarantined for medical attention because some people might be infected without knowing and travel with it to other places,” he said.

According to him, the current outbreak has affected some states in the northern and western parts of the country such as Ondo and Kano with 82 confirmed cases and 17 deaths as at Thursday.

Akingbehin cautioned people against rat infestation of their premises and exposure of food items while they should cook food thoroughly and maintain a high level of personal hygiene.

He added that people should ensure strict environmental sanitation, report all prolonged fever promptly, control pest within premises with infestations, disinfect the premises and items of infected persons.

Health and medical personnel should observe safe practices strictly during care for infected people to prevent person-to-person transmission.

The health officer described Lassa fever as one of the emerging and re-emerging tropical diseases, which in the real sense, was preventable.

He said the outbreak had become a national health embarrassment.

Lieutenant and Sergeant sacked for having sex in public

A female police officer was caught having a boozy on-duty romp with a sergeant, according to a report.

The policewoman was half naked when she was discovered with her colleague in a bathroom at a police building in Manhattan, New York.

Lieutenant Brandi Sanchez, 39, and Sergeant Lambros Gavalas, 46, have had their guns and badges taken away since the alleged steamy session.

A female Sergeant spotted the pair in the cubicle and reported them to a Lieutenant, who went into the bathroom and told them to get out.

However, the pair refused to budge and when the two officers returned to the lavatory they found Sanchez and Gavalas were still there.

The Lieutenant once again ordered them to leave, prompting Gavalas to walk out without saying anything.

The female Sergeant then climbed onto a toilet in the cubicle next to where the pair were hiding and looked over the wall.

She saw a semi-nude Sanchez, who told her she was a police officer and then left.

The officer was found five minutes before her shift was due to end, according to an internal police report.

New York City Police Department did not deny the allegations but confirmed that an investigation was underway.

You have the nerve to talk about education and civilisation yet the bitter truth is that you are an uneducated almajiri whose ancestors were still mounting and riding camels and donkeys whilst mine were at the best universities in the world.

Is it any wonder that millons say that our country must either restructure or break?

Is it not obvious that our claim of national unity is an illusion and that it is bogus and false.

Nigeria is not one, has never been one and will never be one unless and until we firstly learn and accept the basic and fundamental principle that all men, regardless of race, religion and circumstance of birth are equal before God and secondly that we must restructure and devolve power from the centre to the six regions and zones.

Failure to do this will eventually result in the implosion and violent break-up of the country sometime in the not-too-distant future.

Why? Because no matter how hard you try oil and water do not mix, because slave-masters do not remain slave-masters forever and because slaves do not remain slaves in perpetuity.

The Global Action for Peace has alerted the United States of America and Britain over the safety of its citizens in Nigeria following threat by the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN).

The proscribed radical Islamic sect had hinted of an impending attack on foreigners after a military action by the United States of America led to the death of top Iranian military commander, General Qassem Soliemani, in Iraq.

This is unsurprising as IMN, formed about four decades ago, advocates the creation of an Iranian-style Islamic State in Nigeria.

It was heavily influenced by the Iranian revolution, which saw Ayatollah Khomeini take power in 1979 after the overthrow of the US-allied Shah in a popular uprising.

In a press conference on Sunday in Abuja, the Global Action for Peace revealed that the threat issued by the IMN to citizens of the US and the United Kingdom in Nigeria is an “affront to our collective sensibilities as Nigerians, which must be looked into by the security agencies.”

On behalf of the group, convener, Dr. Joseph Agbo stated this action is an indication of the zero regards they have for the constituted authorities in the country.

The Global Action for Peace, therefore, urged these nations to blacklist the sect known for violence and bloodshed.

It further advised the United States and the United Kingdom to see this as a clarion call and activate measures that would support the efforts of the security agencies in Nigeria in curtailing the threats posed by the IMN.

The Global Action for Peace wishes to use this medium to inform members of the general public of the threat posed by the banned Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) to citizens of the United States of America and the United Kingdom in Nigeria. This is on the heels of the military action by the United States of America that led to the death of General Qassem Soliemani, a top Iranian military commander in Iraq recently.

The Global Action for Peace views with concern the posturing of members of the IMN that was evident in the public demonstration in some parts of northern Nigeria declaring a “jihad” on the United States of America and the United Kingdom. These threats are very typical of the terrorist activities of the IMN as an organization whose ideology is deeply rooted in violence and religious intolerance.

This action by the IMN should give all well-meaning Nigerians a cause for concern given the fact that the Federal Government of Nigeria hasn’t made any official statement given the position of the United Nations over the military face-off between the United States of America and Iran.

However, you may recall that it was because of its extremist and terrorist tendencies and the attendant dangers it posed to national security that made the Kaduna state government and later the Federal Government of Nigeria to proscribe the activities of the IMN in Nigeria.

The Global Action for Peace wishes to state that the threat issued by the IMN to citizens of the United States and the United Kingdom in Nigeria is an affront to our collective sensibilities as Nigerians, which must be looked into by the security agencies.

This is also on the heels that it is an incontrovertible fact that the IMN has Iran as their spiritual base as well as the support base for the entrenchment of their nefarious activities all over the world. This is cognizant of the fact that there are indications that Iran may turn to targets in Africa to exert revenge using proxies such as the IMN.

The Global Action for Peace consequently wishes to draw the attention of Nigerians, as well as the security agencies of the apparent threat to life and properties by the adherents of the IMN in Nigeria. This is because of the ongoing mobilization by the leadership of the IMN to carry out massive protests across the country with specific directives from the Iranian authorities to target US and UK citizens.

The Global Action for Peace wishes to state that it is on record that the Nigerian authorities have, on numerous occasions, indicated how the IMN as agents of the Iranian government had engaged in terrorist activities in Nigeria that have brought untold hardship and bodily harm on innocent and unarmed Nigerians. Also, the IMN has, on numerous occasions, confronted security operatives in Nigeria, including one that led to the death of a senior police officer and many others.

We must, therefore, be concerned that the current situation across the globe demands action that the IMN be put on the terror watch list of the United States and the United Kingdom, and measures put in place to protect US and UK citizens in Nigeria.

The Global Action for Peace wishes to reiterate that should the IMN not placed on the terror watch list, their propensity to carry out the whims and caprices of the Iranian authorities on US and UK citizens in Nigeria would be institutionalized.

The posturing of the IMN is indeed a red alert, and as such, there is every need for all hands to be on deck to tackle whatever violent uprising that the IMN is planning in Nigeria.

The Global Action for Peace wishes to advise the United States and the United Kingdom to see this as a clarion call and activate measures that would support the efforts of the security agencies in Nigeria in curtailing the threats posed by the IMN. This is highly necessary given the fact that the IMN is now a global threat.

GOTEL accuses Atiku of non payment of salary for four months

Staff of the Atiku Abubakar-owned TV and radio station, GOTEL Communications, have lamented the non-payment of their salaries since September.

Gotel is the largest media organisation in Mr Abubakar’s group of companies.

It operates television, radio, and other multimedia platforms, covering largely the northern parts of the country

Mr Abubakar is considered the second-highest employer of labour in Adamawa after the state government.

Apart from Gotel Communications and Adama Beverage, the former vice president also owns the American University of Nigeria and Rico Gado feed mill factory.

Prior to September, the workers groaned under hardship after three months (July, August and September) of non-payment of salaries.

Gotel Communications, which is the only private radio and television station in north-east Nigeria, retrenched about 50 per cent of its staff at the peak of Nigeria’s economic recession in 2016.

Some members of staff who spoke to PREMIUM TIMES on Monday said since the first rationalisation in 2016, no new condition of service was introduced at the station.

They said the station is yet to be restructured, the reason the Gotel Restructuring Committee gave for laying off staff in 2016.

“Staff are in limbo as to what condition of service is applicable. Are they going to rely on the old one or what? The staff that were retained (after the rationalisation) were not paid their entitlements) to date.

“There has not been a single promotion since the establishment of the organisation. The majority of the workforce had no single promotion since they accepted an appointment with the organisation. No, career development courses for operational staff, etc. Of all Atiku’s businesses, Gotel Communications Limited is the only one passing through such difficulty,” said the sources who asked not to be named for fear of victimisation.

They also said the current pattern of salary payment is not palatable to staff.

“You don’t know when the next salary will come, hence, staff cannot plan. Staff of Gotel Communications Limited are being owed October, November, and December salaries,” they said.

“The founder of Gotel Communications Limited, Alh Atiku Abubakar, has done his best for the station, as the station has been single-handedly financed by him 100 per cent. However, the latest developments cannot be determined by the staff of the organisation. Is the station winding down? The staff need to know their fate.”



A top management staff told this newspaper on Monday that the payment of two months’ salary arrears were made (on Friday), while the other months will be made in January.



But the workers discountenanced his claims, saying they were yet to receive their salaries as at press time Monday afternoon.

Paul Ibe, the Media Adviser to Mr Abubakar, told this newspaper that he could not comment on the issue because he is no longer on the board of Gotel.

Cross River governor accused of ignoring Ukpepi kidnap

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has accused the Cross River State Governor, Prof Ben Ayade, of not showing concern over the kidnap of its Chairman, Comrade Ben Ukpepi.

In a WhatsApp message forwarded to the Permanent Secretary in charge of security, Governor’s Office, Calabar, Dr Alfred Mboto on Saturday, the Vice Chairman of NLC Comrade Lawrence Achuta regretted the action of Mr. Ayade.

“Today makes it the 5th day that he has been in captivity. Permit me to further State here that His Excellency has not shown any form concern, despite our letter to him about 12 hours after the incident.

“In the past 7 days, we were informed of about five kidnap cases in and around Calabar. The organized labour community is deeply worried over the deplorable situation in the state.

“We use this opportunity to inform you that we cannot guarantee industrial peace in Calabar during this festive period; as we cannot pretend to glory, in the name of Carnival, when people are kidnapped in the State almost on a daily basis.

“We pray you reach His Excellency, in order to avoid any unpleasant reactions from the Labour Community. The State is no longer safe for us, Sir. God bless” the NLC Vice Chairman said.

When DAILY POST spoke with the Permanent Secretary Dr Alfred Mboto via phone on Saturday evening, he said regretted that NLC could send such official matter to him through WhatsApp.

“To me, that it’s personal communication between me and him, I cannot tender that to the Governor. I am not in position of any letter from the Vice Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), I have not been served with any letter at all.

“What I saw was a text message on my phone from the Vice Chairman of the NLC that is not official communication. He said that they cannot guarantee industrial peace in this Christmas period.

“We are as a government have tried our best to make sure that there is peace, security and safety, the security agencies have beefed up security and intensified patrol with a view to ensuring that the victim and other persons kidnapped are rescued and release.

“Government was doing everything humanly possible to make sure that those kidnapped are released and rescued. To me, I don’t think that their threat is going to be productive.

“He sent the text through his Whatsapp and that I should inform the governor about their plan but it would have been good and makes it official if he writes it so that I can make available to the Governor, I saw this as personal communication between me and him, it is not official” he stated.

The Cross River Police Command have confirmed the kidnap of the state Chairman of Nigeria Labour Congress, Ben Ukpepi, at his residence in Akpabuyo local government area of the state.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, Irene Ugbo, told the News Agency of Nigeria on Wednesday in Calabar that the NLC chairman was kidnapped at about 7.30 p.m. on Tuesday by suspected kidnappers.

“The story of the kidnap of the NLC Chairman is true. He was kidnapped in Akpabuyo in his house,” said Ms Ugbo, a deputy superintendent of police.

“We got the report this morning. The Anti Cultism and Kidnapping Unit are on top of the situation to rescue him,” she said.

A source who did not want to be named told NAN on the phone that Mr Ukpepi was making a phone call within his residence when the abductors took him away.

“His family have been calling his line, but it has been switched off since last night and his abductors have not called up till now,” the source said.

A Federal High Court Sitting in Abuja has disqualifies Senator Ifeanyi Ubah over certificate forgery.



Justice Bello Kawu of the Federal High Court, ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to issue the certificate of return to Barrister Dr. Obinna Uzoh, as the Senator-Elect for Anambra South Senatorial District.





Justice Bello Kawu made this order in his judgement on the suit filed by Obinna Uzoh, which claimed that the Senator representing Anambra South Senatorial District, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah, presented a forged National Examination Council (NECO) secondary school certificate to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which enabled him to contest the Anambra South Senatorial Election.



Dr. Obinna Uzoh also in his suit also challenged that the Young Progressive Party (YPP) having not conducted the primary elections for its party for the Anambra South Senatorial election, should be disqualified.



In his judgement, Justice Bello Kawu declared that the 2nd defendant, Young Progressive Party, did not have the locus standi and should not have participated in the February general election for Anambra South Senatorial Zone.





He also declared that the 4th defendant, Dr. Obinna Uzoh, is the actual winner of the February general election having become the second position in the general election, and having the 1st and 2nd defendants disqualified for non-compliance with the provisions of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (As amended) and the Electoral Act, 2010 (As amended).



Justice Bello Kawu, therefore, ordered the 3rd defendant, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to issue Certificate of Return to the 4th defendant, Dr. Obinna Uzoh, within 48 hours, as the duly elected Senator for Anambra South Senatorial District, being the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and having scored the highest number of valid votes cast.





He also ordered the Senate President and the Clerk to the National Assembly to swear in Dr. Obinna Uzoh as the Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria representing Anambra South Senatorial District within 48 hours.



It will be recalled that the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, had earlier declared Dr Obinna Uzoh as the authentic candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Anambra South Senatorial District.



In a suit filed by Dr Obinna Uzoh, he requested the court to declare him winner having scored the highest number of votes during the Anambra South Senatorial Primary Election of the Peoples Democratic Party.





He urged the court to nullify the victory of Chief Christian Chukwunedum Ubah, claiming irregularities in the electoral process.



In his Judgement, Justice O. A Musa of the High Court, Abuja, declared that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), violated, breached and refused to comply with the extant provisions of sections 2 and 50(1) of the party’s constitution as amended in 2017.



He declared that Dr. Obinna Uzoh scored the highest number of vaild votes cast at the PDP primary election held for Anambra South Senatorial District on 2nd October, 2018 concluded at the PDP Headquarters Wadata Plaza Wuse Zone 5, Abuja.





He further declared that in case the suit is not concluded before the General Election and the claimant, Obinna Uzoh, suit succeeds eventually and also on the event that Chris Uba, wins the 2019 Anambra South Senatorial Election, the claimant, Obinna Uzoh, should be issued the Certificate by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the President of the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria shall swear in Obinna Uzoh as the member of the Senate Representing Anambra South Senatorial District.



In addition, Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah made history during the General Elections by contesting on a relatively unknown party, YPP to sack an incumbent senator, Sen.Andy Uba of APC who also doubled as the state chairman of President Buhari campaign council in Anambra. Dr. Ubah who polled 87,081 votes defeated the candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, All Progressives Congress, APC, All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, Chiefs Chris Ubah, Andy Ubah, Nicholas Ukachukwu, who polled 52,462, 13,245 and 51,269 votes, respectively.





Senator Ifeanyi Ubah left APGA for YPP after the leaders of the party disqualified him for the primary election of the party to pave way for the wife of the late leader of the party, Amb. Bianca Ojukwu who also showed interest in the seat.

Good things General Buhari did and no one talked about



In 1983, Chadian forces, backed by French Foreign Legion invaded and occupied Nigeria’s sovereign territory in mainly parts of old Borno State. I believe this is not unconnested with riches of the Chad Basin region where Nigeria was prospecting oil at the time.

President Shagari not knowing what to do about the unfolding situation locked himself and refused to phone calls, pretending he was out of the country. When it became obviously Shagari didn’t know how to handle the situation, a young 40 year-old Muhammadu Buhari, GOC of 3rd Armored Division took it upon himself to mobilise troops.



He drove the Chadian forces out of Nigeria and 50 km further in into the Chadian territory where, Buhari’s forces occupied until President Shehu Shagari ordered him to withdraw – having come under enormous pressure from the President Francois Mitterrand of France.



Muhammadu Buhari now called General Buhari took more 100 Chadian soldiers prisoners, whom, I suppose were later released.



That singular act taught the French a lesson in how not to mess with Nigeria ever again. Chad has never bothered us ever since.



Some people are awarded the title of General while others earn their rank of General. Muhammadu Buhari is one of the few who earned his own, irrespective of the derogatory remarks Looters might make about him on a daily basis.

But those whose only interest was to gain access to power ignored our warnings and told us that their Buhari had changed from being a DICTATOR to a DEMOCRAT.



They even packaged him to Chatham House in London where he went to read a SPEECH they wrote for him.



Today, the TYRANT is showing his real colours and I am seeing the likes of Oga Femi Falana and Prof Wole Soyinka complaining as if they were ignorant of what Buhari did as a Military Head of State.



They are complaining about DSS not obeying court orders as if they forgot what Buhari’s kinsman, Ambassador Mohammed Lawal Rafindadi did as the last Director General of the National Security Organisation (NSO).

Anthony Joshua To present his belt to President Buhari

Anthony Joshua will present his heavyweight title belts to the country’s number one citizen, President Muhammadu Buhari at a date to be decided soon.

Laolu Akande, who is the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity , Office of the Vice President, made this known while briefing State House correspondents on behalf of the Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare.

Akande addressed newsmen after the the Federal Executive Council meeting presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Wednesday in Abuja.

“The Minister of Sports announced that Anthony Joshua will be presenting his belts to the President in a matter of days,”Akande stated.

Joshua gained revenge for his nightmare in New York earlier this year, when he fell four times in defeat to Ruiz Jr, by winning onunanimous decision in their rematch and claiming back the IBF, WBA and WBO titles.

Two scores of 118-110 and another of 119-109 meant the world titles returned to the Nigerian-born British heavyweight boxer who celebrated with his family after the highly anticipated fight.

20 APC governors vouching for the impeachment of Oshiomhole



There are strong indications that some All Progressives Congress, APC, Governors are plotting to seize the control of the party, as part of efforts to install President Muhammadu Buhari’s successor in 2023. It was gathered that despite Buhari’s meeting with the APC Governors on Thursday, and his discussions with the party’s States Chairmen on Friday, about 20 Governors are pressing ahead with the plot to remove the National Chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole. It was learnt Oshiomhole’s fate is linked with the desperation of the Governors to install Buhari’s successor, and determine those who would succeed them.





The Chairman of the Forum of the APC States Chairmen, who is the party’s Chairman in Zamfara State, Ali Bukar, had at the meeting with the President on Friday, appealed to Buhari to caution the Governors.

He had said: “Let me also express our recent worries regarding the activities of some of the Governors who are undermining the efforts of the National Chairman of our great party, Adams Oshiomhole, to reposition the party, by plotting his removal.



“It is more worrisome, knowing full well that they are not doing this because the National Chairman is not performing his duties according to the constitution, but they are fighting him, due to their 2023 Presidential ambitions, when it is a notorious fact that President had just commenced his second term in Office a few months ago.”



A top member of the APC National Working Committee, on Monday, said that most of the party’s ambitious Governors are behind the moves to remove Oshiomhole.



The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of retribution, said: “Everything that is happening is all about 2023. We know that these things are being propelled by the desire of Governors to secure their political future post-Buhari, do not forget we are the ruling party, and we are doing everything lawful to ensure it remains so beyond 2023.



“Outgoing Governors want to pick those who will succeed them. They also want President Muhammadu Buhari’s successor to come from within their ranks, and they hold the opinion that for this to happen, they need to control the party at all levels.

“Whether you like it or not, any group, which controls the party at whatever level, has leverage over others. They know Oshiomhole is strong-willed, so they want someone who they have a hold on to fit into their plans.



That is all that is happening, nothing more.”
However, a source in the APC Governors Forum stated that Oshiomhole arranged the State Chairmen’s meeting with Buhari, as part of efforts to prevent his removal.
The source revealed: “It is becoming increasingly clear to Oshiomhole, that more Governors were turning against him. A few weeks ago, 5 Governors were supporting him. Even a North-West Governor, who was supporting him a few weeks ago, has abandoned him. At the last count, those supporting him are not up to 4.”

Don’t start what you cannot finish. I warned Sowore when he started this game when I asked him what exactly is this #RevolutionNow all about? I went further to warn Sowore that what he was pushing himself into is a COUP d’état but he wouldn’t listen. Well, the unfortunate thing happened and Sowore played into the hands of the State. On July 25, 2019, Sowore clearly said “Don’t tell me about legal implications or what a Judge will say. I don’t care..”. Now the game is still on and Sowore will have to care about legal implications or what a Judge will say.





Let’s be clear, what Sowore did by calling and leading #RevolutionNow a few months after losing an election that he was part of would never be tolerated anywhere in the world. As a matter of fact, if he has done that in the USA, he would have been picked up before leaving any Studio. Look at it this way: Hillary Clinton lost an election to Trump. Hillary now went ahead to meet with a fugitive that’s running away from the USA Government on a case of treason outside the shore of the USA just a few months after the Presidential election. Then Hillary was bold enough to show the video clip online and categorically said she had a secret conversation with the fugitive and they both agreed on some things. Then Hillary now returned to the America to lead what was tagged #RevolutionNow. Trust me, Hillary will be forgotten in prison because that’s treason. That’s exatly what Sowore did by meeting with a Fugitive Nnamdi Kanu, then coming to Nigeria afterward.





That aside, Sowore was arrested and after back and forth, he was released yesterday. He was to be in court today and that happened. Sowore was to be rearrested by the Department of State Security DSS and the next thing was to run inside the court . Was there a warrant of arrest and did Sowore’s lawyer know this? If Sowore’s lawyer knew this, why would he ask Sowore to resist arrest on fresh charges or is there a law that says he cannot be arrested on fresh charges because he already had some in court? Did you notice that his lawyers later decided to follow DSS to their office after the whole drama in the court room? What exactly was the game plan by Sowore’s team? They had already vacated the court hall and another case was being called when he ran back, created a scene we just watched just to evade arrest and have public sympathy. Sowore simply violated the law with the aid of his lawyers. That law is the law unfortunately, Sowore is in for a long run.





Well, for today, Sowore won the game and public sympathy. Unfortunately what Sowore did today may lead to three different charges apart from whatever charges they already had against him:



1. RESISTING ARREST: Let me quote Sowore’s lawyer Femi Falana (SAN) “The atmosphere was very rowdy, but I insisted that the arrest could not be carried out within the precinct of the court. He was going to be arrested outside the premises but there was a crowd that resisted the arrest, but I appealed to everybody and asked Sowore to jump into my car and so we drove to the office of the SSS because they said he will just answer a few questions, but now he is being detained.



“We are going to take steps under the law by asking for his release again since they are claiming this is a fresh arrest. I hope we are all aware that resisting arrest is an offence punishable under the law of Nigeria and even any nation we can call “saner clime”? That drama you just watched in the court room that led to the scuffle will eventually be used against him. RESISTING ARREST.



2. ASSAULT ON DSS OFFICER: Unfortunately emotion will soon run out and reality will set in. That same video clip showed that the DSS officer holding Sowore was assaulted. Don’t abuse me yet, I’m just showing you what will eventually happen beyond emotional game. Once you assault a security officer any any CLIME, you have broken the law and will be charged accordingly.



3. VIOLATION OF BAIL CONDITION:

Part of Sowore’s bail condition was that he must not grant any interview. That video clip you watched online where he granted. Here’s what Sowore said in the interview: “It might be my only word on the record before they kill me; this is an attempt to assassinate me in court. They came with guns and they tried to shoot and they dragged me down in front of a judge after I have been granted bail.



“I said it that these are a bunch of lawless people and they were reluctant to respect the order of the court. Now they have shown it to the whole world.



“They tried to break me in prison, sent delegations to me, offering all kinds of things and I refused and they promised that I will not walk out of their detention alive and that is what they have come to implement today.”



The #RevolutionNow convener urged Nigerians not to be afraid and some people have to make the sacrifice for the Country to work.



“What is important for Nigerians to know is that I am not going to give up until every Nigerian benefit from a country that is theirs and I have made it very clear.



“Nobody in Nigeria should be afraid, it is our country and some people have to make the sacrifice for this country to be a country of rule, law and of dignity; and this also involves even judges, if suspects who have been given bail are not safe in court, the judges themselves are not safe.”





He explained that the sudden exit of justice Ojukwu is due to the manner at which the DSS operatives had caused a scene inside the courtroom.





“That is why the judge had to retire hurriedly into her chambers.

“We urge you to hang around so that you can witness this historic day in Nigeria.”

A man has been allegedly caught red-handed while raping a little girl in Aba, Abia state.

The incident reportedly occurred on Wednesday, December 4, around Hightaste Road by Ibere Street of Ngwa Road in Aba.

A Facebook user, David Osinachi Nwankwo, who shared phots from the scene of the incident disclosed that the suspect lured the girl into a nearby bus and covered her mouth his with his hand to stop her from shouting for help.

My kidnapping experience as a Lagos Corper

As a Lagos corper, you are in for enjoyment but at the same time you need to be very vigilant.

So I went to TopCrust(My place of primary assignment) to submit my letter and return acceptance letter to my local government. On leaving, I stayed for a long time at the bus stop, I didn’t see any bus or Korope so in order not get there late, I decides to trek to testing ground and take Ikeja. While I was trekking towards Ikeja now, I stopped a salon car in front of Coca-cola thinking it was a normal car, not knowing it was gbomogbomo car. After I entered, I realised the driver wasn’t carrying other people again, he kept saying he has a client waiting for him once anyone stops the car.



On getting to testing, meanwhile I met one lady at the back seat, and a guy in the front when I entered. So on reaching testing ground now, the lady claimed she wanted to drop, she stretched forth #500 to give the driver and then said she has a bag in the boot, this is when the driver said someone has taken it and the woman was about to start crying that how can someone take her bag, the next thing the driver said was ” Madam, you dey lie say no clothe full your bag but I don check am, I see money there, foreign currency for that matter ”

Lagos corperHe started talking, saying he will carry the woman to police station, while this was happening, we were caught up in traffic now, the woman started crying and saying. She came from Saudi Arabia, thatch boss died and then she took 10mliilion dollars and all, the interesting part Was The guy in the front was now begging the driver that he shouldn’t take her to Police station that they will just kill her.

The driver then said she will give everyone in the car $10,000 and then they asked me if I’m interested, I told them to drop me at Allen junction, the woman kept faking tears and she was like aunty help me beg him, I was just looking cos it was like Nigerian movies to me and the driver was like I calculate the the money… That when I borrow myself brain o.



Cos I calculated the money and they were like that’s 3.6million naira now, I started speaking in tongue o

Immediately they drop me at Allen junction, come and see speed.
I wanted to even snap the plate number, but I couldn’t. When I dropped I felt like ideas gonna die cos all my body was just shaking, I had to look for a fellow corper on the street to explain everything to.



I had to tell my other Corp members, that is when I heard it’s a normal things Lagos, some people even said if I had shown interested, maybe it’s at Ogun state I will meet myself.





Please let be careful not only in Lagos but in every state, try not to wear your nysc clothe when it is not needed.



The car is a green Golf salon car, the lady dressed so tattered. I wish I was able to get the plate number.

To be Lagos corper no easy, to survive and go to your home after one year too… You gats get brain and serve God well.

No fewer than 500 card-carrying members of People Democratic Party in Ekiti State including seven serving local government chairmen and 42 Councilors elected on the party’s platform have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The defectors with their supporters were on Friday received by Governor Kayode Fayemi into the ruling APC fold at a rally held at the popular Fajuyi Pavilion.

The council chairmen who dumped PDP are Ayodeji Daniel ( Ekiti West), Abiodun Dada (Ijero), Yemi Ayeni (Ikere), Tunde Aladegbami (Ido/Osi), Sikiru Ogundana (Ekiti East), Olubayode Okeya (Emure), and Yemi Owoeye (Efon).

The local government chairmen, who defected to APC along with their supporters, said they dumped PDP because the opposition party cannot add value to the lives of Ekiti residents.

They described Fayemi as a true leader who plays inclusive politics and never victimised them since coming to power last year.

Governor Fayemi was represented at the rally by his Chief of Staff, Hon. Biodun Omoleye. Other party chieftains present include the state APC Chairman, Barrister Paul Omotoso and APC Southwest Zonal Publicity Secretary, Rt. Hon. Oladapo Karonwi.

The Vice chairmen and councilors in the seven councils also defected to APC just as some commercial motorcyclists and mining association members formally joined the party.

They defectors who addressed the gathering one after the other promised to work hard for their new party in future elections.

They expressed gratitude to Fayemi for restoring them back to office after they were removed from office by the immediate past Assembly, a development they said had not happened in the history of the state.

One of the defectors, Okeya described Fayemi as “a real leader and a bridge builder who will go far in the politics of the country.”

Another decampee, Aladegbami said Fayemi has set a record in ensuring harmonious relationship between opposition parties and never deceived or coerced them to join APC.

He described Fayemi as a promise keeper who is passionate about the development of Ekiti and better welfare for its people.

Ogundana advised the remaining local government chairmen still in PDP to accept the reality and cross over to APC which he described as the party Ekiti people are in love with

APC zonal spokesperson Hon. Karonwi said the defectors have taken the best decision “by quitting PDP whose governance structures have collapsed irretrievably.”

While receiving the new members, the party chairman, Barr Omotoso, who described them as great assets promised that they would not be discriminated against as they will enjoy same privileges with old members.

He said: “Nobody is a latecomer in our party; we are ready to accommodate you.

“You have seen the light and you will never go back to darkness again and together, we will move Ekiti forward

“I want to say that our doors are still open to those who are still in opposition to join us, come over to APC the party of the people.”

Omotoso said APC would give them a better platform to contribute to Ekiti development, urging them to join hands with Governor Fayemi in taking the Ekiti to purposeful pedestal.

Akatsi policemen found farmer’s dead body on farmland


The Police at Akatsi south District is currently investigating the sudden demise of a 58-year-old farmer who was found dead at his maize farm by elders of Agornu Kporkplortey, a village near Akatsi in the Akatsi South District of the Volta Region.

The deceased, Emmanuel Awudi, who resides at Agornu was said to have left home on Monday to visit his farm but did not return.

Chief Superintendent Joseph Dzineku, Akatsi South District Commander of Police confirmed the incident to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), saying the police on Tuesday received a report from an aspiring assembly member for the area, Mr. Kennedy Biedo that one of the elders of the town has been found dead on his farm.



According to Chief Supt. Dzineku, some elders of the town said the deceased left his home to check his farm on Monday but did not return.

“Thinking he spent the night for his usual hunting activities in the bush as well after visiting the farm, all efforts to reach him the next day by the town elders did not yield any result.”

Chief Supt. Dzineku said the situation prompted the elders of the town to organized a local search party to his farm and was thereafter found dead there.

He said the Akatsi Police upon receipt of the report went to the scene and saw the lifeless body with no visible marks of assault.

Male nurse to be jailed for raping patient on sick bed.



A mental health male nurse, Mohammed Kamara who was found guilty of raping a patient with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and depression after drawing the curtains around her hospital bed has had his licence withdrawn after serving 15-year jail sentence.

Kamara, 48, pulled the curtains around the woman’s bed at Royal London Hospital, Whitechapel, on May 15, 2017. He then tried to force-feed her sleeping pills before sexually abusing her.

After the rape, he forced her to have a shower and changed her bedsheets, all to cover his unprofessional act or cover evidence.

He also reportedly threatened her to try and stop her from calling the police.

However, the victim told her daughter and Kamara was arrested, investigated and later jailed at Snaresbrook Crown Court in July 2018. He was also ordered to sign on the sex offenders’ register for life.

Kamara had been assigned to the woman as one of a team of one-to-one mental health nurses providing 24-hour care because of the risk she posed.
On Wednesday, November 27, Kamara was struck from the nursing profession.

Paul Morris said: “Mr Kamara has been convicted of raping an extremely vulnerable patient in her hospital bed.

“The panel considered that not only was this a very serious criminal conviction, but that it also constituted a gross breach of trust and an abuse of his position.

“It considered that, due to the very serious nature of Mr Kamara’s conviction and the surrounding circumstances, the only sanction which would adequately protect the public and satisfy the public interest is a striking-off order.

“The panel decided that to take any other action in this case would undermine public confidence in the profession and the NMC as a regulatory body, and leave the public exposed to a future risk of harm.

“The panel therefore decided that the appropriate and proportionate sanction is a striking-off
order.”
