TheGuyFromHR: Charity shops. British Heart Foundation is a good one that has a lot of stuff. Before going on Facebook or Gumtree to buy secondhand white goods, make a comprehensive cost analysis compared to a new product. E.g. a new washing machine may be about 220 - 250 quid, but it comes with a warranty and delivery and you could get an inclusive installation quote. A second hand one on Facebook or Gumtree may be around 50 to 80 quid depending on condition, and you have to hire your own man with a van to transport it if you don't know anyone with suitable transport in your town, find an east European handyman to install it, then assume the risk that if anything is wrong with it you have to fix it (not cheap here) or dispose of it if fixing it is not cost effective, etc., etc. I think electronics should not be bought second hand. |

Xanderlex: Hello everyone. We are trying to get a 2 bedroom apartment in Rochdale. However most are unfurnished. Kindly offer help on where we could get cheaper furniture such as bed, mattress and electronics like fridge and washing machine. I'm due to arrive on a dependent spousal visa and only wifey is going round looking for the houses. Also for someone with USD notes in UK, how can one repatriate that back to Naija. The exchange rates at the post office and banks are terrible. Tell her to go to thrift stores close to her. My partner got some household items from British heart foundation at good prices. Also some Facebook groups give out stuff free. Just search for your area and add "free give or pass it on" |

ednut1: apply directly to many companies. You only need one to accept as many will typically reject applicants not in Canada. The work permit process and documentation can be long and cumbersome. Many companies dont have that time. For agencies I wouldn’t trust them as most are scammers or will do promise and fail. Thank you very much. I'll tell him to start applying directly. Apart from Indeed and linked in, are there local job sites you can suggest for us please? Thank you once again |

Chiall: If the poster has a Canada visa he/she can travel to Canada from the UK. Read my post. I said "IF" he/ she has a Canada visa,he/she could. Since Canada is not visa free to Nigeria passport holders . Ah no! I meant no offense. I thought one couldn't apply for Canada visa from UK because I plan to do that next year. |

Since you have a Nigerian passport, you go through the normal process which takes time. Check the IRCC website for requirements. I think processing g takes about 286days now. Almost one year? Kilosele |

Chiall: Do you have a visa issued by Canada? If you don't have it you can't travel to Canada from the UK. I am currently in UK. I just returned from Canada, that's because I have a Canada visa sticker. There's no time for you to do that application now. You can't travel to Canada from UK for now? Why is that please? |

While application has been transferred to VAC meanwhile today is just the 7th working day and no priority service was paid for. I suspect there’s an error with their system. Have seen about 2 more people with the same complain. Does anyone have an idea what is going on? I just checked now and it's showing this as well. |
