djlaqua91: I get where Lord Tarly is coming from, in the books he's regarded as one of the greatest commanders of all time. The only person who won a battle during Robert rebellion (Tarly was team Mad King). The family is famous for their military activities. Also, he banished Sam to the Nights watch and what did Sam do? Remain Fat( upon all the hardship haba ) and then broke his vow by having a family (yes I know they're adopted). To his eyes Sam has no honour. We saw in Season1 episode 1 when Lord Stark beheaded that guy that fled the Nights Watch upon the fact he saw White Walkers. Sam would have desecrated the Tarly name. IMO the best solution would have been to leave Sam as heir and let his brother Dickon command the military as his bannerman (a recipe for disaster/betrayal). PS. Sam moms is from House Florent, She's cousins to Stannis Baratheons wife. Making King Tommen, Cersei, the Tyrells etc. his In-laws. *Whew* make I go rest. There are many ways to toughen a kid up and sending him to the nights watch is not one of them. Was Robin arryn sent to the watch? |

jonsnow92: I dont know why i think it serves Jamie right..Since He lost his Arm Jamie has been terrible in his scenes, even his dialogues are terrible..Anyway Brieene was sent to the River lands to the army of the black fish to win the North..Walder Frey wants to capture the same River lands..Jamie has been sent to capture the same Riverlands..The Riverlands would be a really interesting scene to watch really..All depending on the Blackfish though Meanwhile Jamie would meet Brieene again at the Riverlands Episode 6 was only a build up to major killings and interesting scenes in the forthcoming episode but it was boring abeg way too boring The character has changed a lot. He is no longer the evil person we used to know. |

newguy1: y r u hating on his dad he did not castrate him all he did was send him to the night watch to toughen up. What of tyrell lannister than from birth have Been wishing tyrion dead. Even after he acknowledge his brilliancy He didn't send him to the watch to toughen him. He literally did it to disown him so that he will have no claim as heir. He is a horrible person and father. Plain and simple. |

Gbola5: Dany's speeches are becoming cringeworthy. Her scenes as well. I feel this should have been what she uses to bind the Dothraki, rather than the fire scene with the khals. Right from season one, Dany has been meh to me. Even when she birthed the dragons etc. I never liked her |

oyaskii: But how is Meera Able to kill that White walker with minimum fuss..Heres my theory....Either the Spear is made of Valyrian steel (But one of the Children of the forest used the same spear and it didn't work) Second theory....Meera is an offspring of Lynnna stark, that makes her a sibiling of Jon snow since Jon has killed aa white walker in similar fashion then again Sam did kill a white walker No, it hit his armour. If it had touched him, it would have turned to ice like every other weapon. |

Geist: I think he's right. Do you know that GOT is the most pirated series? They might not be making so much to handle all those expenses. Have seen a video on youtube where the producer complained about how expensive those things are. If you noticed look of both the nights king and children of the forest changed from season 4 This is not true. It might be the most pirated but they are def still making a lot. |

Nihilist: Obsidian is a naturally formed volcanic glass. I doubt that it has any 'magical properties'. Granite and Obsidian are both naturally formed from Lava. Only one of them is associated with dragons.
The key thing here is to note that both are associated with Dragons...hence 'heat'
Obsidian - Dragonglass Valyrian Steel - Dragon flame
The theme is repeated several times in the series...most notably in Quarth when the masked woman described Dragons as 'Fire Made Flesh'. As you know, Danaerys is strongly associated with Dragons, and fire.
Conversely, the White Walkers are also Ice made flesh...as we see them shatter into Ice when they die. This also empasized by their ice blue eyes, icy skin, Icy crown, and their icy environment.
Basically anything described as Dragon-related in the GoT universe is symbolic of extreme heat...Just as the White walkers are symbolic of extreme cold
Fire vs Wight = Lv1 Dragon anything vs White Walker = Lv2
I'm done with the explaining Okay. I understand what you are saying. So, are you saying that fire, and other elements can also kill WW? |
TV/Movies › Re: Game Of Thrones Discussion (Beware Of Spoilers) by gj22(m): 10:38am On May 25, 2016 |
Nihilist: Regular steel swords cannot Kill a Wight or White Walker, just a regular rock cannot kill those creatures.
Valyrian steel is forged with Dragon flame. Obsidian is called Dragonglass
This association with dragons implies that they have extreme heat as imbued attributes
So basically fire to deal with the minions and 'hotter items' to deal with the ogas at the top. It has more to do with their magical properties than how hot the fire was when they were forged. |
TV/Movies › Re: Game Of Thrones Discussion (Beware Of Spoilers) by gj22(m): 3:05am On May 25, 2016 |
Nihilist: They are vulnerable to fire related items.
Valyrian steel and obsidian are both formed under extreme heat. Lol. Is steel or glass supposed to be formed under extreme cold before? |
TV/Movies › Re: Game Of Thrones Discussion (Beware Of Spoilers) by gj22(m): 9:48pm On May 24, 2016 |
Nihilist: I don't think the makeup of that spear is relevant to the White Walkers vulnerability to fire, obsidian and/or valyrian steel. They r not vulnerable to fire. In fact, they quench all fire in their vicinity. |

UjSizzle: Mel is confused. I think Dany is the one they're waiting for. I'm surprised Mel hasn't heard or her yet and still gallivanting around Westeros making mistakes. But I believe Jon has a big role to play in the coming battle between the Walkers and the Living.
I'm yet to understand what the White walkers want though, and why they're fighting the living. Is this one of those Light vs Darkness battle no one seems to understand? There's no way she hasn't heard. |

Endy10: She didn't say prince, she said, 'the one that was promised'. I think the interpretation is the key. Milisandre made us believe the one promised was male because she was using prince. But the prophecy never mentioned prince. You are right. I don't know the literal words of the prophecy but she said "one" not prince |

Gbola5: You learn to control your facial muscles and add some glamour to it, not to mention play a role. Takes more than just wearing the face. The face will still work without all that hence the "you don't need training to wear the face. Am talking about to literally wear the face. |

oyetpel: Anyone notice something strange about Meera? What's she made of? A CotF used a weapon on a WW but the weapon couldn't hurt the WW. Whereas Meera used same weapon on the WW and the WW was iced and eliminated. What's Meera role in the wars to come? Is she Jon Snow's twin sister? Remember Jon Snow have also killed a WW albeit using a Valyrian steel. Armor. The Cotf hit the armor. |

Endy10: While we're at it, I would really like to drop this. Bran didn't warg into the younger Hodor first. Its was the action of warging into the 'present' Hodor that made the 'past' Hodor enter a trance and the whole 'hold the door' stuff came up Thank you...Let the arguments begin I have already responded to this but will do so again. Wrong, he warged into past Hodor not the present. My reason is because past hodor could her/see the present but present Hodor could not see/hear the past. Also, bran was already warged into the wierwood tree. |
TV/Movies › Re: Game Of Thrones Discussion (Beware Of Spoilers) by gj22(m): 10:01pm On May 23, 2016 |
kay9: Yes, it is indeed a time paradox, but Bran started the events that led to the loop when he went "green-seeing" unsupervised. Well, Hodor has successfully held the door (as intended), so the loop has now closed on itself. Is it a closed loop tho? I mean, I understand it being predestination paradox but not a closed time loop. Case 1) A closed loop is when a present event causes a past event to happen which in turn causes the present to happen. Like travelling back in time and giving your younger self your wristwatch. In this case, the question "where did the watch come from?" cannot be answered. This is a closed time loop. Case 2) If you travel back in time and go and kill John F Kennedy, this will only be a predestination paradox but not a closed time loop. I think Hodor is case 2. Just my opinion tho |

Vorpal: It's just funny how people are unwilling to accept that Hodor was destined to end that way. He was born so that Bran's journey will not be cut short abruptly. It's like a military saying, "the four stars adorned on a general's shoulder are earned through the blood of young soldiers who died in battle for victory to be sure".
It is a known fact, some people were born to be stepping stones for those who are to achieve victory. It is not a known fact because you can't proove it. |
TV/Movies › Re: Game Of Thrones Discussion (Beware Of Spoilers) by gj22(m): 9:41pm On May 23, 2016 |
Endy10: I don't think its dumb. Its actually genius. Time itself is infinite, which means the past, present and future are currently happening at the same time. Bran being a warg, was able to tap into that blackhole, that connects every aspect of time together. Therefore actions in anytime (past, present, future) affect themselves. Bran warging into Hodor in the present while having a connection with the past created a time warp where the actions of the present affect the past, hence 'the past hodor' feeling the effects. According to the bloodraven, the ink of the past is set and dry, because of this, the action of the present affecting the past is so intense that it literally broke 'past' Hodor's mind. Now due to the past being changed, it carries this effect to the future, which is the present(Hodor holding the door).
I felt a headache after typing this He warged into past Hodor (willys) and not the other way round. That's what messed up Hodor's mind. |
