There are no loopholes. Jon is breaking his vow by leaving the Night's Watch. Who would believe him South of the Wall ? The vow says, " It shall not end until my death.", but he's alive, it's like a patient on CPR. The vow also says, " I shall live and die at my post." Live and Die. It also says, " I pledge my life and honor to the Night's Watch, for this night and all the nights to come." All the nights to come. The episode was Oathbreaker afterall.
That's one way of seeing it.

"It shall not end until my death".. this is undeniable because he died. Literally.

"I pledge my life and honor to the Night's watch".. the life he pledged to the Night's Watch has ended.

"Oathbreaker".....I haven't really thought about this but you might have a point. I can't wait to see where the directors go with this.

It felt like if not for Sansa arriving at Castle Black, then Jon wouldn't have anything else doing. The plot moved Jon.
Yes. What I got from it is that he was fed up with all the fighting and betrayal. Death will do that to anyone

They're not from google though. Jon thinks he's better actually. And i stated to choose which one of them you want to as Jon may have been an unreliable narrator at that.
May being the keyword. Unless we have a reason to believe otherwise, then we give him the benefit of doubt

I noticed, where did the hounds go?
They weren't attack dogs. They are just blood hounds (for tracking), the ran away. What did you expect them to do, pick up a sword and start fighting Brienne of fooking tarth?

I just hope G.o.t don't eventually fall our hands in the end.
1) Y bring Jon snow back..everyone predicted the red woman would bring him back and she did..What gets many of us glued to G.o.t is d unpredictable nature and their ability to make our guesses go wrong..You might say Jon has a bigger role to play.if yes then y kill him in d first place
2)The mumu attitude of the khals in the danys episode is somehow..Yes they wanted to show Dany as been strong willed and all but yet not even one khal could think of killing her, instead they just ran around like fools
3) Jon saw Hardhome and he knows that is the rral war yet hes concerned about fighting Ramsay..Yes anyone would want to rescue his brother in that situation but whats in explaining to everyother person what he saw at hardhome..
many more questions and many more fears that in the end i just pray and hope i dont get disappointed
Abeg make them sha Leave Tyrion for me abeg
Maybe in the first few seasons but this is season 6 for Christmas sake.

There comes a point when unpredictability become predictable.

The unpredictability came from the fact that we were still learning about the GOT universe. But now that we know it, it can't remain unpredictable.

If you are in season 6 of a show and you are still expecting unpredictability (to an extent), then I think you haven't seen too many TV shows.

how exactly is Ned overrated?
He got a boost of reputation when he defeated Arthur Dayne but we now know the full story.

I won't say he is average, maybe a lil above it

Jon says that he's a better swordsman but Robb is a better lance. Whether you choose to believe him or not.

He was of an age with Robb, but
they did not look alike. Jon was
slender where Robb was
muscular, dark where Robb was
fair, graceful and quick where
his half brother was strong and
fast.
This is wrong. In the show, Jon clearly says Rob was better. I know it's easier to pull book quotes from google but at least, respect the people in the thread and stop trying to confuse us.

I don't know if you have read the books, but in the books Ned was an average swords man. The show made him better. That fight in season one he had with Jamie, if that was in the books, he wouldn't last five seconds against Jamie. So the first question is, are we judging from the books or the show? If it's from the books, you can't call great fighters and call Ned. Ned's late brother Brandon was the good swordsman in the family. But if we are going with show, Ned was OK. But there are still better fighters. I can call ten people from the show that would floor Ned. So yes. Drogo was a far better figure than Ned
This thread is a show only thread. The show comes first but you can back it up with book knowledge. When the show and the book contradicts, then the show is the law.

Ned is average. He's not really that good. Jaime(before he lost his hand), Barristan, Loras, Arthur would beat Ned anyday. He's more of a commander.
He was th last man standing when faced Arthur Dayne. I wouldn't really say average but, I get your point.

Another thing to discuss.

Is Ned stark really among the top fighters in westeros?

A lot of His reputation came from the fact that he defeated Arthur Dayne. Now that we know the full story, is he really a top fighter?

Exactly, the show and the books are quite different, I don't blame them though. Most book readers, me inclusive, are usually pissed off when they see books being torn to shreds in the films that adapt them.
Budget, time constraints, different medium, different demographic etc.

was she actually forced in that scene? considering the fact that they've being having sex prior to that time.
I think it was kind of rekindling what they both had for eachother.
She was forced. She clearly said "no" and resisted. It doesn't matter if they have been having sex before. She didn't want it at that time.

It's a movie thing. In the books, when she entered Drogo's pyre, she emerged unburnt but she was bald. HBO probably decided that a bald Emilia Clarke wouldn't be all that sexy so they extended her fire immunity to her hair. Makes more sense though. Hair is, afterall, a natural part of the body.
It's magic. I mean, you can also ask how come the smoke doesn't suffocate her (smoke kills you before the fire when being burned alife) or how come the burning wood didn't fall on her like it fell on the dothraki. It's just one of those things we have to ignore.

Also, in vaes dothrak, how did the dothraki behind the temple know to kneel down when they can't even see her?

It's just one of those things we ignore.

Oga leave all the biography aside. Ser Jorah is a skilled knight, I concur. However your tone is exaggerated. His success in the fight with Drogo's bloodrider can be attributed to the fact that he had his armour on, else he would have been killed. If you are in doubt, please try and watch that scene again.
This is a dumb excuse.

Rewatch that season 1 fight and watch last episode's fight. Last episode's bloodrider was something else. The dude was a born fighter in the midst of born fighters. The guy is dead. Don't deny him his glory. He was awesome.
Seer jorah at his peak would have taken him. He is now old and weak

Please, since there are a few lawyers or law students here, let me ask. Are the police supposed to give bail? I hear of people getting arrested and the police asking for bail. Is it legal? I think it's the court that's supposed to sanction bail.

Ned can't be held responsible for how people intepreted the story over the years. Ned and dayne were in a fight, Ned came out alive and dayne stayed dead. Only Ned and Reed were present to know how it went. Every other person could have interpreted it to taste and passed it on. Ned on the issue gave credit to Reed. Even though he didn't explain. If bran heard differently, it certainly didn't come from his father. My bet is on his Maester Luwin WHO WASN'T THERE. And about Ned telling it to Jamie, I hardly think so. I can't think of any situation where they could have had the discussion... Certainly not over a bottle of wine.
You are right. But in a way, letting people assume something about you is still kinda deceptive. I agree tho

He never claimed to Bran he defeated Arthur Dayne himself. It is only what other people interpreted into it.
The scene in the show and conversation between Bran and T3ER suggests that there was something wrong in the story that Bran was told.
Yes. Exactly. Bran was told "I wouldn't have been able to defeat him if not for Howland Reed". Bran assumed that Howland helped Ned defeat Arthur by fighting honorable but not by stabbing him in the back.

It doesn't mean Ned lied. He just told a vague truthe.

He didnt tell Jaime. Ned wasn't a talker
Okay. I thought I read it somewhere in a forum like this.
, all everyone else knows was that Ned survived and Arthur Dayne died,
Exactly, this gave Ned a rep boost. And its not like he disputed the rumour.

but Ned never lied to his kids and told them true he would have died but for Reed, he wouldn't brag about such a dishonorable fight like it was portrayed in the show.
No one said he did. The show only portrayed a discrepancy between what was believed to have happened and what actually happened. That is all

Can you tell me how it was portrayed that he lied? I it's because of bran's surprise, Bran was only suprised because It didn't happen th way it was told in westeros
TV/MoviesRe: Game Of Thrones Discussion (Beware Of Spoilers) by gj22(m): 8:31am On May 11, 2016
Gbola5:
Ned never bragged about killing Arthur Dayne, because he didnt.
I don't get what you are driving at seriously. Bran clearly says "father defeated him" and the 3 eyed raven said "did he?".

He might not have bragged in the real sense of the word but the story in westeros is that Ned stark defeated Arthur. It wasn't only Bran he told the story, he told jamie(i think) also.

There is no inconsistency other than the one you are making up.
TV/MoviesRe: Game Of Thrones Discussion (Beware Of Spoilers) by gj22(m): 6:49am On May 11, 2016
Gbola5:
It's common knowledge Howland Reed saved his life, and in the original scene Ned did nothing dishonourable. Why are you making a character who died because of his honour appear a dishonourable liar ? He wasn't, why go against the character like this?

You can rewatch the scene. Even Bran was suprised.
The same Ned that lied about jon's lineage to everyone for years?
The same Ned that did something as dishonourable as lying in front of the whole Kingdom about cersei's children after his family was threatened?

Bran was surprised. Does that tell you the directors know what dey are doing? Or is Bran not part of the show?

And I have said it before, a character is not a script that is always constant no matter what. When it comes to family, Ned overlooks honour as seen when he recanted his statement about cersei's children after his family was threatened.

It appears that you are the one who doesn't even know the character at all.

Just watch the directors commentary (links I posted). It's for people lik you that think ya smarter than the show runners.

Ned told his children from the time that they were young that Howland Reed saved his life and that he would've been dead but for him. And it became this;
Bran: Father you do not fight with honor
Ned: No... He did.

You might think it minor but its not.
I don't really get what you are trying to say. Are you saying that the writers forgot that Ned claimed reed fights with honor? If so, it's clear that Ned lied. I mean, it's not like the first time he has lied is it?
