Gbola5: He didnt have it coming, he didnt just do as he liked, blame D& for that. The Red Wedding didn't happen because Robb broke a betrothal. Betrothals are broken, its not the first time, better men than Walder have betrothals broken. That is like a cover up story and shouldnt even lead to a mass murder like that. Blame d&d for what? Hope you are not trying to spin this into a books vs show thing again? Of course, Robb's betrayal was not the only thing that made the red wedding happen. The main reason it happened was because the lannisters wanted him dead, the bolton's are treacherous and walder frey was angry about what Robb did. The marriage was about an alliance with the frey's and they were promised something and Robb turned his back on walder. This made it easy for the lannisters to convince walder and promise him something else and also the bolton's. Seriously dude, all your arguments here are always "this is not how it happened in the books". Dial it down man. If we wanted to read the books, we would have read it. They are not exactly hard to come by. |

Gbola5: Woah, i was just reading previous post, and some guys were trying to justify the Red Wedding. I'll have to say, their accounts were really short sighted. Really ?! They called it fair. When I watched that season again, I realised Robb had it coming. He felt he could just do anything he likes and get away with it. His mom warned him, he didn't listen. |

Gbola5: A portion of scripted material, that absolutely makes no sense at all and should have never been created by the writers to begin with. A bump in the plot so bad that it kills any suspension of disbelief the viewer had. Yeah. And nothing you mentioned does that. Jon could not go after bran cos of his dedication to the nights watch. The red wedding has served it's purpose (there is still room for more if the writers deem fit) .... You talk as if everything must be done right now. If there are "plotholes" in GoT, it's not what you mentioned. |
TV/Movies › Re: Game Of Thrones Discussion (Beware Of Spoilers) by gj22(m): 2:16pm On May 17, 2015 |

Lol. You have no idea what a plot hole is do you? Look up the meaning. A plot hole is an illogical event that plays a part in the outcome of a movie. When I say illogical, I mean it doesn't follow the established universal rules that the movie has established. E.g -a movie says a person becomes a zombie 10mins after death but then someone turns after 2 seconds just to bite the antagonist thereby saving the protagonist. That is a plothole 1. It has to create a logical inconsistency within the defined rules of the given story's universe (If magic exists and a plot hole can be explained with magic, its not a plot hole) 2. The event or occurrence that leads to the plot hole has to be an intentional part of the story. 3. It has to be 100% unexplainable by the rules of the universe. (You can't justify what happened with an off-screen interaction). [Plot Hole] Example: The Butterfly Effect - Evan (Ashton Kutcher) proves that he can travel back in time and change the past by revisiting his childhood and impaling his hands, instantly creating scars which shock his cell mate into belief. Why it fits: If Evan was truly travelling back in time, when he hurt his hands (creating the scars), the scars would have been with him his whole life, all the way up until the point that he went to jail, and met his cell mate. Yet in the movie, his cell mate is shocked as the scars instantly appeared in front of him. This is a clear logical fallacy and goes against the rules of the movie, that changing the past will create an impact that changes everything in the future. Now let me explain why what you listed are not plot holes.... They made Sam tell Jon of Bran, only for him to not speak of it again, plothole. Jon has had this issue before.. he made a vow to the nights watch and he always lived by them. Remember when Robb (or ned) died and he wanted to abandon his vows? He didn't. Him not going after bran is to show his dedication to the nights watch the same way he didn't abandon the nights watch when Robb was killed....not a plothole. They do a red wedding, and then that's it. i don't understand your point about the red wedding.. the show is not yet over and you don't know if it will come up in the remaining seasons... not a plothole. Even if they don't say anything about it again, I think it has played it's part enough. It introduced the Boltons as real players remember? And it tipped the battle of the throne in favour of the lannisters. Also remember bran (?) was telling someone a story of how it is bad omen to kill guests under your own roof? That's y I think it will still play a part. They gvae us a Gendry, and then that's it. The show is not yet over so you don't know if "that's it"... not a plothole They did, Sansa's flee from KL, to have her at the hands of the Boltons, when her character develops at this stage. How is this a plothole? D& doing things differently is not a plothole As a side note, an unresolved storyline is not a plothole .most of the things you mentioned are unresolved story lines and you are also forgetting the fact that they still have 2 seasons to resolve them. |

Ogatitus: Have been a GOT faithful since season 1. Its one series movie I totally enjoy.
But so far, I have been disappointed with Season 5..really it's a far cry from what i anticipated. The intense scheming plot to covert the Iron Throne has gradually lost steam.
.... The Lannisters are scattered with no clear formation
..... Stannis, the one true king, meddling with men of the night watch. Should be talking more about Kings Landing. .... Khalesi has over stayed her welcome in the land of the slave masters. She has forgotten she is on transit to fight for the Iron Throne.
....The antagonistic pair: Littlefinger vs Varys, are disconnected.
.... Greyskin disease by stonemen is an unnecessary distraction.
..... You mean Jamie Lannister left Kings Landing @such a critical time?.. Sounds absurd.
.....Ayra, probably gone to learn some marshall art.. it's cool though..valar morghulis.
.... Where is Bran the cripple. Was thinking he is gonna be a major player by now. He seems lost with the 3eyed raven.
.....And Lord Commander, Mr Snow, really feels no need to avenge his family. Your father and brother were butchered and you're just concerned with forming alliance with the wildlings against the whitewalkers. Really, "you know nothing Jon Snow".
And it goes on....
I really wanna see a radical plot twist that will bring back the intense bloodthirsty politricks of the Iron throne.. cos after all said and done, IT'S ALL ABOUT KINGS LANDING. It's drama. It's all build up for what is to come. My guess is you like action films' instant action but not all tvs r like that. You have to enjoy each episode and look at what the bigger picture could be. For instance, +Stanis is going to the north (epic battle) +jon snow going to the wildlings +arya in bravosi +tyrion in old valeria. My link in previous post suggests there are evils there. Something is def going to happen I agree, Kings landing has been dry but it's because the interesting people left (littlefinger, varys, tyrion, tywin, geoffrey, bronn, podric) |

Both the robbers and the angry youth are victims of unemployment Lol. Blame unemployment for this? Why not blame the devil too? Everyman is responsible for his actions. Unemployment did not make them do this, they did it because they wanted to. This in inhumane, this is on their head. |

He is not being stubborn and he is right to obey the witch (for now). He believed Sam when no one did and listens to that smuggler guy (sir devos?). kay9: I really thought I was through with this Ned Stark argument...
Ok, I think our problems lies in our definition of "foolish"; what you think of as "the right way" is actually what I think is the foolish way. How can you keep playing fair when your opponents are so crooked and malevolent, and still hope to win? You just can't! Its either you bend your rules, or you lose - or the less walked road, you resign and go home. Remember what Maester Aemon said to Jon Snow right after he was made Lord Commander: It is time to kill the boy and let the man be born. Although in the books, this was actually said to Aegon V a.k.a the Egg.
So that's what I mean by Ned was foolish. Yes, of course, he did the "right thing", but was it the wise thing? He'd stepped up to the Iron Throne in Robert's stead and meted out the King's justice on Gregor Clegane (a.k.a the Mountain) who was ravaging the Riverlands bordering the Westerlands; this was right after fighting Jaime Lannister, thereby further incurring Tywins wrath. And then he turned around and further weakened his own position by gifting Cercei with the secret he knew. Naturally Cercei (who knew what Robert would do when he finds out) acted first and got Robert poisoned, leaving our dear Ned with nothing but a powerless letter to fight with. The rest, as they say, na story for the gods.
Look guys, nobody is arguing that Ned was not an honorable man. He was. He was a good man, and he was loved and respected for it. But he was singularly unsuited to dealing with power-drunk Lords like the Lannisters. Honor is an admirable trait, but sometimes it is wiser to be hard and harsh. What Ned chose to do was not wise, it was foolish.
….and nobody should drag me back to this argument again. Guy, he was ready to sacrifice his life for the right thing. He was prepared for it. It was when they threatened his children he succumbed to their ways. He knew he was going to get killed but didn't care. That is not foolishness, that is honour. Let's just pass this one as opinion. No more argument. |

TV/Movies › Re: Game Of Thrones Discussion (Beware Of Spoilers) by gj22(m): 9:32am On May 14, 2015 |
kay9: Mmm, well your opinions are yours to have.
Support Renly? Ned wasn't even in support of Stannis.
My view is that Ned Stark midjudged how dangerous and high risk the game he was playing was. You cannot afford to let your emotions interfere with your decisions in such a serious position - and that was what Ned did. Starks don't do that - they did not become the most feared Lords in the North by doing that. I think it was a momentary lapse in judgement by Ned; he had shown many times before that he was not afraid of making harsh decisions when it was needed. Sadly it was the mistake that would cost him his life. What are you talking about? Ned knew all along he was playing a dangerous game but still decided to do it the right way. That doesn't make him a fool, it makes him a honourable man. That is why the north will always rally to the starks. The north remembers. |

Okay, this is one of the few things I agree with Gbola5 aka spoiler king (I didn't read all the waec comprehension sha, just enough to get his point). Ned stark was not a fool and you are an idiyot if you think so. He was an honourable man in midst of criminals when he went to kings landing. He knew everything he did was dangerous and would get him killed but he did it anyway because it was the right thing to do. At the end of the day, he abandoned his values and became like them and it cost him his head. |

Gbola5: No it is not. And Barristan is 63. And the sons of the Harpy aren't exactly these skilled warriors you see. They are just sons and uncles and nephews, etc of the former masters of Meereen turn against Dany. They do their killings at night and are cowardly. There's no way sons of the harpy can take out Barristan and Unsullied, one of the best Infantry in the world like that. Unsullied dont fight like that, they form groups and defend an attack, they dont seperate like that. If they killed Barristan its either for shock value or they needed people of the cast, there's no way his death serves to further any plot. Barristan the bold, killed in an alley in Meereen by sons of the harpy. That's what they've made of him. See, that's where you are wrong. The unsullied were broken down into groups and were greatly outnumbered. They use spears to fight but spears are only good for war in open spaces not small fights in closed spaces. That's why the masked men lured them into enclosed spaces and knifed them to death. It was a smart move. |

kay9: I actually like the GreyWorm+Missandei pairing, after all nobody is unlovable. I think I now understand what he meant by being ashamed... See, he's supposed to be fearless even in the face of death - cos he doesn't have anything to lose, he's Unsullied, he only lives to serve. But then he develops feelings for Missandei, and now he's suddenly face to face with death and he realizes he is not fearless after all - he fears not seeing Missandei again, a very stup!d fear considering he doesn't even have the "rod and stones" to enjoy her... That's why he's ashamed.

ApexTitan: What exactly did Stannis do that won you over? Me I have little regard for him as long as he continues to be directed by the Red Priestess, she is obviously going to be his undoing.
That Greyworm romance still struck me as contrived. So our robot soldier in the moment of near defeat suddenly felt shame (that's what he said right?) that he wouldn't see the woman of his dreams? How unoriginal. Greyworm is like a dog chasing after cars, what he do with Missandei if he has her to himself?
Sam and Bolton's wife? LOL! Stanis is wise and calm, he believed Sam when others didn't and actually makes wise decisions. He is the next best thing since Nedd stark. Rob stark was an idiyot and it got him killed, he promised to marry walder frey's (?) daughter but broke his vow and married that doctor. After he did that, I stopped liking him. As for the red woman, she seems legit so far. She might have an ulterior motive but for now, she is legit. Of course, I don't like the fact that she keeps waving her tits in every man's face. Edit : bosoms? Are you kidding me? Who says bosoms? Am I allowed to say b00bs? Seriously, this auto moderation is stupid. Lol. |
