What’s low profile. Doesn’t everybody know a decent corporate job in Nigeria usually pays on 25th?

Not only you o. Applies to almost every person working in Nigeria.

Because of this, I hardly pick calls or reply messages.

There are people that know my payday. By the end of the month, a lot of messages.

Almost everyone is a beggar here. It’s a serious situation.
One of them. I have not even read the message since yesterday. I knew where it was going.

This is quite unnecessary. The stations are better named after the towns hosting them. Everything shouldn't be about politics.
This is not politics, or if it is, a good one.

Many of us would never have known anyone as Teslim Balogun today if a stadium was not named after him or Ozumba Mbadiwe if a major road not named after him.

This is a good way to store our history.

Akin Alabi is a big legit hustler whose hustle got rewarded. I wont praise a betting business but he was easily the one that revolutionalized this now common sports betting in Nigeria with his Nairabet.

He laid his hands on many business ventures (online information marketing) before he made it with Nairabet.

He was one of us in the early days of Nairaland.

Not surprised at what he wrote it here.

For the rude passengers, who don't have cars, I guess it has to do with seeing Uber ride as “owning” a car for 2 hours and exercising all the control they never had on a car in their life since they never had a car in their life.

For the yahoo-yahoo, yes, that Agungi-Chevron axis all the way to Ajah (Badore in particular) is the Yahoo headquarters in Lagos.

I know a lot of people in Badore and anytime I see news of arrest of Yahoo boys in the news, I always rush to the see the faces if any is familiar.

Saka should consider playing for Nigeria.

Fashanu back in the 1980s refused to play for Nigeria and instead chose England. And England called him up.....three times..(When he could have had 40 callups for Nigeria).

More recently Agbonlahor refused to play for Nigeria. England called him up less than 20 times.

While England has had a good record of calling up black players, their chances are not as good as white players. That's why any black English player wanting to play international football should seriously consider playing for the country of origin.

Efan ekoku ignored England in favour of Nigeria , as did Anichebe, Moses and Abbey George. And they got several international calls up

(If he was French on the other hand..)
You forgot Amoebi that was snubbing Nigeria, waiting for England call up until he reached 30 and now decided to play for Nigeria. He got one or two caps for Nigeria - too late.

I love this religion.

A traditional ruler stays somewhere and declares when the next festive period will be.

Nice one
It is the traditional ruler that declares for UK and US - where Muslims there are also celebrating eid same day - too abi?

Don’t be ignorant. There is a system on ground, he is only the mouthpiece as the leader. Since 2019, we all already knew this eid will either be July 31 or August 1.

Globally.

It is about moon sighting. He is only the mouthpiece.

Islam has its own calendar (lunar calendar) with its own month counting system, still 12 months. Only that no month is 31. Either 29 or 30, depending on when the moon is sighted. We already know that the day for this eid is 10th day of the 12th month.

How can someone be this arrogant in ignorance?

You kept mentioning NNPC. I’m talking about NLNG. NLNG is a company. NNPC is not, rather a corporation. Who is talking about NNPC Director?

How is that difficult to get?

Again, for your information, NLNG is a private limited liability company with 4 shareholders (NNPC, Shell, Total and Agip/ENI).
Career › Re: Babs Omotowa: The Public School Teacher Who Became CEO Of NLNG by Glaswegian: 7:05pm On Jul 21, 2020
And here is NLNG referring to their oga patapata as CEO themselves.

Please learn.

Heathrow44:
Pls oga! Is NLNG a personal business company like Dangote or Innoson? Or is it similar to other national assets like NNPC/ AMCON/ FIRS is like u calling d Director of FIRS, the CEO of Firs, u people in NL don't really know much and is illegal being in the 21st century ! So U can say NDDC director or chairman is the CEO of NDDC or chairman of EFCC is termed CEO?!
Guy, you appear to be unteachable but I will teach you by force. I will take curing your ignorance as a personal responsibility.

NLNG is not like FIRS or NNPC or AMCON.

FIRS is not a a registered company, it is an agency of government.

NNPC is a government corporation, not a company.

AMCON is also a corporation established by an Act of parliament, not a company.

NLNG is a company. Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas LIMITED.

See that LIMITED in bold. It means limited liability company, registered as a COMPANY under CAMA.

None of the FIRS, AMCON or NNPC is a company so cannot use limited.

NLNG is a company. It has 4 shareholders, namely NNPC, Shell, Agip and Total.

The CEO comes from Shell as part of the agreement between the parties. The CEO is not appointed by government unlike FIRS, AMCON, or NNPC.

Babs Omotowa, the subject of this thread, is a Shell staff seconded to NLNG as CEO between 2011 and 2016. The current CEO, Attah, is also from Shell.

Pls don’t spread your ignorance.

See this NLNG recent public notice and see them refer to themselves as “Limited”, “company”, with shareholders.

They are a company. None of NNPC, AMCON or FIRS will call itself a company or use “limited”.

Don’t assume everybody on NL is a job seeker or some ignorant folks. There are oil and gas industry top guys/management staff here. And you don’t know whether you are chatting with one.

I believe oil has done it's final cause.
Anybody still looking at oil is wasting his time.

I read one recent report last week
All the rich gulf oil states are having terrible economic strain as of recent. From Saudi Arabia to Kuwait to UAE.
Serious budget deficit
Deep economic woes facing them.

Saudi Arabia has moved there vision 2030 about diverting from oil dependency to 2020.
There reserve of $440 billion will go bust in one year's time if oil price remain at its current price because they spend $45 billion monthly to support there budget

Technologies is the future
Oil is already gone
Oil is not going away at least in the next 50 years.

That’s my view. And the man also mentioned it in the interview.

Because France still has a big stake in its former African colonies. Francophone players simply have an easier route to Europe (Ligue 1 and Ligue 2) vs Anglophone players.

Check all those players. Most gained relevance in Ligue 1. English football doesn't offer that access to Anglophone players.
This does not answer the question.

Is this why Eto’o or Yaya or Mahrez or Mane won Africa best or what they did they did on the field when they got the opportunity?

Field of play?

Eto’o came 3rd in World Best, Yaya and Drogba were among Top 10 several times.

So all football analysts, pundits, coaches, players, journalists that rated/voted for them did not see Okocha in the field of play in Okocha years?

u funny sir. I told u that is because of too much likeness of money that made okocha not to play for big team. Or don't u know when united want to sign him then, that he requested for number 10 jersey that he knew is not possible for him to get. He intentionally did it because he want to go on free transfer to small club and collect his sign on fee by himself.

we all know okocha for his entertainment football, but you can never take away the fact that he was a great footballer. In my own opinion, which I believe its the view of most football fans.okocha deserved that award in 1998.
Mustapha Hadji did nothing spectacular in his club side.from 1997 to 1999,he was playing for deportivo. He had 31 appearances with only 2 goals. Both Nigeria and morocco crashed out in the group stage of 1998 world cup.
Okocha played for fenerbahce from 1996 to 1998.Had 62 appearance and 34 goals to show. His performance paved way for his move to PSG in 1998.its obvious, Okocha was the better player at that point in time.
I agree that of 1998 was the nearest for JJ ( not those of 2003/2004 when he was competing with Eto’o.

That said, he lost that of 1998 by only 2 votes or so. So it was close enough but ultimately the 2 voters that made the difference believed Hadji did better. Fair enough.

Depor was a big club in the years Hadji was there.

And his performance in 1998 world cup was great.

Okocha had these too. I think he lost by just 2 votes.

That is another politics in football .
French speaking countries against English speaking countries.
Excuse! Excuse!

Same people chose Kanu over French speaking footballers twice.

Same people chose Arab Salah over French speaking players.

Let’s stop deceiving ourselves. Francophone African countries have always produced bigger footballers. Which Anglophone African footballer currently comes close to Sadio Mane, Kalidou Koulibaly, Aubameyang, Mahrez, Ziyech, Benacer, even Pepe.

If they now win APOTY, you will say it is French conspiracy when we all watch same football and see the difference.

Before them we had Drogba, Eto’o, Yaya Toure, etc all from French Africa. Is it the language they speak that got them to the level they attained or their footballing ability. We all watch them on TV.
