CsRockefeller: Sir, please stop replying such nonentities, they have nothing upstairs. Every reasonable person knows a biz survives from its customers and no biz no matter it's skill pool can pay itself. This one thinks it is sir, ma, please that Apple is using to make hundreds of thousands of dollars every minute. Yet, Nigerian staff are the rudest people ever encountered. All of them pass your Yes ma, I kneel down, I bow before you interview. You are going from recession to recession still. |

MedicH: Another nonentity on the lose. Pls I really tire for una. Say something meaningful to the discourse, no. You're throwing shades. You de ask me how many companies I know. Just imagine. And what do you mean by my start up kiosk? You're the typical Nigerian case of pot calling kettle black. Your myopic and stereotyped views have only come in laced with insult and rudeness that you accuse and condemn Mary for. Customer is king is just a slogan in Nigeria not a practice. The world has gone past crude methods of testing. Nobody will test an IT personnel on Customer care in Amazon, Faceebook, Google or Yahoo. Those are the Mighty IT gurus. By God's grace, I am not currently in Nigeria, so at least I have small exposure and experience to what I'm saying. There are "mad" talents out there doing wonders. What they need is training not silly tests of respect. Who greet me, who prostrate. Mind you, I don't subscribe to the lady's rude behavior. The point is that the recruiter has a blame too and should not dismiss an IT potential on such grounds. He could use a business account or company logo as DP. Or automated response options. (Thank you for contacting LI etc). He could introduce himself as Mr Emmanuel from LI etc. These are the proper ways official stuff is done on social media. Not to mention Nigeria where everyone is a suspect and scammer or ritualist until proven otherwise. The peculiarities of Nigeria for the girl child or female should come into play for a trained Human resource. Nigerians love to play to the gallery though. I've not met a more entitled and rude set of persons in office like Nigerians but it is in Nigeria everyone says Customer is king. Nigerians will stoop low to the extent of giving their bodies for job or promotion. They are very polite and submissive for that one. But see them on the job everywhere behaving like miscreants in power. So my dear man, what is needed is on the job practical training and culture. Not impromptu good morning sir interviews which we keep doing since 1960. Ask your politicians, you their customers are kings when they need the job. They eat corn with widows and kneel down to illiterates. And you all give them pass marks as usual. You've been kinged. |

MedicH: There is no company that puts the talent of a staff before the loyalty of a customer. To hell with your talent. Na you go buy yourself? How many companies do you know? Your startup kiosk is not ALL companies. Recruitment has gone beyond 1980 Union bank style recruitment that you are accustomed to. |

kingxsamz: No, they would have sent flowers to her house with drones and put out a red carpet for her to step out.
If "Hello, good evening Mary isn't enough", then you'd have to wait for the organisation that'll add a chieftancy title to your name. I'm very sure that if you were the one, you definitely wouldn't complain. Hello good evening Mary, this is Emmanuel from LI is professional enough and will not kill. A professional recruiter will use the logo or name of the company. Just like email or letters should be letterhead or company website. Like I said, they are both wrong and the guy is petty. He's also inconsistent in calling Mr. Samson and later miss Mary. He doesn't know his onions as a professional recruiter so should not dismiss an applicant who is unprepared and unprofessional. Especially a female applicant. |

MedicH: Have you eve heard of the word customer relations? Customer is everything. It takes a year to get a customer but one second to lose one. Only Nigerians with their ignorance that do not understand this. Imagine it's a customer that chatted this silly woman with a job proposition that could cause the company to break even, she replies this way. Awful awful awful Maybe you should know that people put on different personalities and communication at work different from home. How you attend to a customer or client is different from how a jobless Nigerian girl answers a random number that chats with her. The company may have lost a rare gem and talent they could train and harness because the HR boy from mr Samson was not professional enough in a simple interview. He's looking to employ people that kneel down and call him sir. |

PHAYOL81: Nobody's comparing us with Japan or any advance country. Japan was only used as an example to trash your flaw reasoning. You don't have to rush to criticise without getting a good grasp of the subject at hand. At least if you have to do, base your critism on the flaw not against the good thing. Whether it's well maintained is another discussion but complaining about the length of train in prefference for shorter and plenty locomotives without considering the implications especially in a society where the people gullibly drink in any information and subsequently act on it without findings is a big trash that have to be immediately dumped where it belongs before it turns to an anthem. You compared us to Japan, go and read your reply. I didn't rush to criticize, I stated my thoughts and said what do I know "I think" "what do I know sha." "I don't know if same principle applies for smaller/shorter trains". These were phrases all in my post, showing I was not assertive or criticizing but discussing an option. Your views are well noted, only you can present them with less aggression. Even if you are paid to defend the government, you should try to be winsome not replying like an attack bulldog. I no get interest for useless party politics. |

MedicH: It is a part of interview. Your interviewers take you unawares to see exactly what you're made of. It is called a drill and you're not expected to be informed. When new doctors and nurses are employed in our emergence/accident unit maybe as interns or something, sometimes an ambulance will blare siren and pull up at the unit and those new guys will be monitored to evaluate how they apply all they have been thought with respect to their job. If you make mistake there, you might as well be denied. That's a test, and a drill. How you reply an anonymous WhatsApp message has nothing to do with your competence as a web designer. Maybe as a customer service person or human resource. The company rep should have courteously and professionally introduced himself and maybe addressed the lady as Miss too. He did that later. They are both wrong. |
Jobs/Vacancies › Re: Lady Loses Job To 'Who Gave You My Number?' Question On WhatsApp by glowingflame7: 8:38am On Nov 28, 2020 |
genitori: No, the company didn't have to inform her the mode of contact. That is why you give your VALID numbers and mail addresses during job application.
They may want to test how you relate with people (strangers especially). The way you tested this aunty, I suppose. They could have been formal too, like addressing her as Miss as they later did. It's a useless and unserious criteria for dismissing a potential worker. |

Wartsnigeria: Lol, complete ignorance, please do your findings, even the poorest countries don't use short couches for safety reasons. I want to think safety has more to do with the speed of a train, not the length. The length will likely make the train more unsafe in the overall. |
Travel › Re: Video Of The New Ebute Metta Train Station by glowingflame7: 8:25am On Nov 28, 2020 |
PHAYOL81: Flaw reasoning. First of, what breaks down is the carriage not the couch, so the longer the better. Trains move on designated rails which means a breakdown of one will still affect other trains, if not lead to even accident. What Japan did was to invest in superfast carriages with long couches, less trains on rail and improve stations impacts to forestall accident and improve travel time. It's okay. I'm only looking at Nigeria's peculiar maintenance culture. We are not Japanese or all these countries we keep comparing ourselves to where everything works. What I mean by breakdown or fault is not 2hours fault. |
Travel › Re: Video Of The New Ebute Metta Train Station by glowingflame7: 5:29am On Nov 28, 2020 |
The train long oh. I think shorter trains should be more preferable. It's common sense, what do I know sha. Shorter will certainly be less expensive. Meaning we can purchase more.
And for Nigeria's poor maintenance culture, if one train breaks down or have fault. Less people affected, less money lost or spent on repairs. Less loss of material or life. More arrival and departure time with more trains. More work for more drivers etc. I think keke is easier to drive and maintain than trailer. I don't know if same principle applies for smaller/shorter trains. |

Timtim8989: YES!!!, I said it our people are not helping matters reasons I have taken the effort to begin to discourage folks from coming here on visit visa.
Well If they want to do general helper 1000-1200 in hot sun. Filipinos don't come here with visit visa anymore. There is no way you will be treated fairly within that two years I must tell you honestly. You will get bored within 6months that's the reason they don't like people with their own visa. They know you can leave anytime when you are tried of their nonsense. So they rather treat you well if you are valuable to the company.
A lady I know within a month is ready to be cancelled because of poor treatments. They have ganged up against her in a saloon just because customers are appreciating her skills.
Maybe we need to scout for reputable and honest organisation from here who can have physical offices in Nigeria for processing same way Filipinos are doing theirs.
I emphasized this because companies are getting frustrated and wiser. If someone will cut visa fee from your salary plus the overall expenses of coming on 3months.
The beauty of it is that you can book ONE WAY FLIGHT, fees reduced a bit unlike 3months that needs return ticket.
You can get part time work same week of arrival and not worries of having to please employers for visa.
The major issue is the scam right , it will be solved.
Did I mention attestation ... just forget it please. The attestation part though. Skilled jobs need attestation, it is required by law. Except you only plan on doing your own business or blue collar jobs, it is advisable to attest your documents once and for all. It is relatively easier and cheaper to do it yourself than to need it and have someone else to do it for you. |

Timtim8989: PLEASE I WILL ADVISE NEW COMERS TO COME WITH THEIR OWN VISA. THE WAY EMPLOYERS HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH NIGERIANS LATELY IS ALARMING.
PLEASE LETS TELL NEW COMERS THE GOSPEL TRUTH OF THIS PLACE.
SINCE FEBRUARY IT'S BEEN A WHOLE LOT OF ISSUES. THE COMPANIES I HAVE BEEN JOINING DIDNT MAKE VISA SIMPLY BECAUSE THEY DIDNT HAVE QUOTA FOR ENGINEERS.
THEY KEEP DECEIVING UP AND DOWN, ONE EVEN USE MY ATTESTED CERTIFICATE TO REGISTER COMPANY AS A STAFF.
THE WAY OUR PEOPLE HAVE MESSED UP HERE IN THE PAST IS CAUSING SEERIOUS PAINS FOR FRESHER.
I PACKAGED MYSELF SO MUCH THAT THESE EMPLOYERS ARE CRUEL.
OUR PEOPLE ALSO DON'T HELP MATTERS...
IF YOU MUST COME HERE PLEASE NOT WITH VISIT VISA AGAIN...
PLEASE LET'S ADVISE FOLKS TO COME WITH EMPLOYMENT VISA AND BE FREE.
FORGET ABOUT ATTESTATION BECAUSE NO ONE CARES HERE I SAW IT SEVERALLY AND RISKED MY LIFE TO ABUJA.
SAVE UP YOUR MONEY FOR EMPLOYMENT VISA RATHER THAN RUNNING AFTER EMPLOYERS BECAUSE THIS PLACE IS A TRAP.
I HAVE DECIDED TO TAKE SAFETY COURSES AGAIN TO ADD UP TO M.SC MAYBE THEY WILL LOOK AT OUR FACE AGAIN.
AFTER ALL MY EXPERIENCES AS A CIVIL ENGINEER HAVING COLLECTED OVER 200K IN NIGERIA. SOMEONE IS OFFERING ME 1200 AS A HELPER AND STILL WANTS TO CUT 3500 FOR EMPLOYMENT VISA...
MOST COMPANY ACCOMODATION ARE A MESS...
THE GOVERNMENT DOESNT CARE...
PLEASE DON'T BE AT MERCY OF THE EMPLOYERS.
MOST UGANDAN COME ON EMPLOYMENT VISA AND THEY ARE COMFORTABLE.
NIGERIANS HAS THE HIGHEST NUMBER OF CANCELLED VISA AND LABOR CASES . THEY SAY WE ARE TOO SMART.
I MET LADIES WHO EVENTUALLY JUMPED INTO PROSTITUTION BECAUSE THEY COULDN'T PAY HOUSE RENTS AGAIN.
PLEASE DISCOURAGE THESE PEOPLE FROM VISIT VISA TO EMPLOYMENT.
DON'T BE DECEIVE THE EMPLOYERS EVEN LOVE IT NOW AND WILL PAY YOU BETTER.
IF YOU WORK 6MONTHS YOU CAN FLY BACK HOME AND GO AFTER 3MONTHS.
PLEASE TELL THE REAL SITUATIONS OF UAE.
I SAW LOTS NEGATIVE COMMENTS LAST YEAR BUT I IGNORED IT.
HONESTLY I WAS FAR BETTER OFF HOME THAN HERE.
IF YOU HEAR GOOD FOR YOU.
A WORD IS ENOUGH FOR A WISE. You've spoken very well. For a while, I've discouraged people from even coming at all for now, especially since this Covid lockdown pandemic wahala. Many businesses closed down or have been so so. Generally, there's the issue of downsizing, salary cuts, late salary payments etc and it affects every sector and nationality. But my people still dey come in, lol. So na to siddon look and answer the one way I fit. Though I still will not advise people to make their own visas. I will rather say you develop yourself, get skilled, get more employable and become an employer of labor. It is every person's goal to get his or her residence. But the major experiences of the past have been scams and tears. People giving money for their own visas and either getting no Visa, or the so called agent making 3months Visa for people. This is why the advice has been, make 3months, see things for yourself. You may get a job and company to make your Visa. If not, maybe it's safer to make it here. Anyway, good luck guys. Those who will hear will hear, those who will not are the majority. |

drkay: PCC? No need. You don’t need to attest your O’level, it won’t give you any meaningful edge. As per your certificates in catering and computer training, those 2 industries are not my forte. So, I don’t know if they can be considered as a valid document for employment or not. How much money you’ll need to spend before securing a job? Maybe someone can help answer that.
My unsolicited advice: The chances of securing jobs has been on a down trend for sometimes. Please weigh your options. Don’t fall for any cooked up story. Note: uae is a very wonderful country. It has given me the platform to move in the direction of my dreams and I’ve benefited enmassly from its generousity. Awesomefoodie: Pls I need clarification: an agent told me I should pay 800k for a Dubai 3 months Visa plus accomodation, covid-19 test, flight ticket and settling immigrations. And I should hold additional 500$ with me as PTA for me to secure a job and transportation once I get to Dubai. Pls is this true or the money is too much. He's not far from the truth with the amount, but except you're in JSS 1, there's no need to give agent your accommodation money, or flight tickets money or Covid test money or whatever setting immigration means. All the agent business is your Visa money. |

Xbolmax: Good evening to y'all I'm been following this thread for sometime now OK, straight to the point! I have an uncle in dubia that want me to come over to work He got an agent over there to help mee secure an employment visa that will cost like 8,000 dirahm What the agent told my uncle was that, she will get me a security job over there 1.I just want to know if it possible to run employment visa from dubia ( while I the employee is in Nigeria)? 2. Is it possible to get the employment visa without having a job over there? 3. Is the amount not much for the visa(not to fall in wrong hands)? 4. Do I need to start searching for job with the employment visa when i get to dubia? Thank you Usually, in this case, there's no uncle or brother in Dubai. He's not telling you the whole truth. If you are lucky enough to get the visa for 8,000dirhams at this time, which I doubt 95%. You'll need to spend another about 2000dirhams for the security course before you can legally do security work in UAE. And it is chance not confirmed. Though with your "free" employment visa, you can search for other jobs apart from security. But have money for accommodation per month and for feeding and transport. |
