magicminister:The Burj Khalifa, the world's tallest building, is known to showcase national flags of friendly countries on important occasions. Emaar is the company in charge. While you may pay for it, stuff like Independence Day celebrations is usually done by the company themselves just to excite tourists and make news. |
iokpebholo:The two candidates were worse than analogue. We should move forward past this already. When the real technocrats are never allowed to smell the presidential candidate of the two main parties, wetin man go do. Na escape remain. Even the majority of Nigerians are not ready for digital development, what most want is to share the money. |
sifo:Chicken change. Don't settle for less. Abi wetin make we talk again. They say NO work visa for now. Get that one sorted first. Advice- Don't give money to anyone for job oh. |
Welder09:The situation remains exactly as you put it. Just let's be hopeful. |
NIGHTLIFE100:Good news ke? People stranded in UAE will again be left at the mercy of the same Arrangee Emirates Evacuation be that. If situation persists, the people who did one month renewal will have less choice. Well, let's just hope abi. |
Bobbyunitedfc:Yes you can. But watch the situation too as per flights approval from where you are travelling to. |
hayzed89:Find out from Ameer. But as it is, as a Nigerian. The likely answer is "depart". |
Are you sure we have ambassador that they are paying so? I don't think so. |
komodapson:Because there was free and less traceable money. Is it not the reckless spending that is the genesis of the problem current government compounded? UAE welcomes investors. If you have money, you are welcome to UAE. In fact, the UAE is designed in a way that you are likely to spend a bulk of money made in UAE in UAE. We have politicians and celebrities travel to Dubai for shopping, birthday, wedding and of course property. UAE will welcome it. Na investment. |
Eddiecute86:Oga, when you want to renew your visa and you are told to pay almost double what others pay, you are being forced to leave. When you bring the double and they tell you system is blocked, you cannot renew, you are being forced to leave. When you get employment letter with all your colleagues that you did interview, and the colleagues visa is ready, your own is refused because you are a Nigerian, you are being forced to leave. Call black black and white white oh. |
ednut1:Exactly, he might not even be a criminal. With the transaction limit of $100 on international transaction, all these bureau de change guys might want to use it for business. |
Hmmm, the people downplaying this thing ehn. Our own dey come oh. Even if you are born in Dubai, once they hear Nigeria na issue presently. I saw the little film last month na, when I went to make enquiries somewhere government. Everyone was smiling and happy na and cooperating. As I mentioned Nigeria, you will think someone died. Everything just change and solemn. Maybe they for carry me immediately sef if I be riff raff. That's where I knew there's fire on the mountain oh, and our government has to intervene, or else na God remain. |
drkay:This is exactly what we are saying oh. About two weeks now, no visa yet the person got job. He's on ground not online, he did interview, he's qualified, he has finalised salary and co negotiations, he's paying rent. But what others are given in 24hrs he is yet to get even with begging for two weeks. And you think our government should not diplomatically resolve this? Already Nigerians pay almost double for visas compared to others. That's a disadvantage already. Your flight money is more than two times your colleagues. Your visa is almost double. And you believe that the solution is to increase the cost? A Nigerian already pays what some people will use to stay for 9months in just first time coming with three months. I don't think increasing it is the logical solution. Maybe interviews and maybe bank statements, but increasing the money is not. Well all na still ordinary opinion oh. You people that have power should help us. ![]() |
Ope4Christ:Brother, the Nigerian government should not be left out of it. Like most of us have said, the individuals have their fault and their big part to play. But every Nigerian is a property of Nigeria. If you use a Nigerian passport, you remain a property of Nigeria. Nigeria is the only place you can be deported to for instance. No matter how bad a child is, the parent are still the parents. No matter how mad a human being is, the relative are still the relative. When 2000 people pay for evacuation and reach Nigeria, you will see government taking pictures and posting that they are working. They will talk about effort of state government, federal government, nidcom, minister, special adviser etc. But there is real problem, we have about two consulate office in UAE and they throway face. There are nuisance from every country here. Pakistani, Indians, Ukraine, Tajikistan, Vietnam, Bangladesh, even British was in the papers yesterday for duping someone in millions of dirhams. Each individual should be punished for their crime. Discrimination is what is happening now. Maybe because it has not reached us because we have ID, but it is coming. Why would all other nationalities have access to 90 days visas at low prices? All these people can change their visas to residence and employment visas. It is not our right, fine. But it is not illegal, it is what every other nationality is doing. So it is governments work to diplomatically discuss it on behalf of the citizens. Other nations treat us bad because they know and say it that our government does not care. And you are still saying it's not government business. Kill a criminal American or British and see if it is not their government business. |
Government throway eye. i would expect them to diplomatically resolve this on behalf of the citizens but who e concern. |
OlakunmiSMELTD:By a travel box and divide your luggage into two. Or dash each airline money for extra/excess luggage. Change your money at anywhere you trust. If bank, fine. |
glowingflame7:It is no longer news na, it's since a month now, though maybe there are less doubts now. What we need is solution, not hmmm and sighing oh. Those of you that know somebody that know somebody in government. Help us tell them oh. Tell madam Dabiri and co. |
japhethGold:If it is too good to be true, it is probably not true. Many flags |
michaelbills:You get born again na. If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature. |
Most of these guys are likely innocent. Does that woman look like someone that has 1million or will pay 1.5million to kill anybody? They should not kill innocent people oh please. Just carry anybody and put them in Abuja for 3months. Which kind of investigation and accusations be this. Even the mother of suspect, they carry from village. ![]() |
Donbern:Hmmmmm, the problem is not so much the Nigerian B.Sc or certificate as the Nigerian passport. Let's understand that 2020 has not been very easy due to the pandemic, lockdowns and all. Even the postponement of Expo 2020 was a big setback for jobs and co. The point of the first page of this thread, the point of MOE, MOFA and embassy attestations all show that the certificate is relevant. Nothing wrong with the certificate in getting employment. The main issue is the passport. It makes it quite difficult these days. We cannot shy away from the truth that we have Nigerians with Nigerian certificates working in different industries in the UAE. Health, Education, Hospitality, Engineering, I.T, Oil and Gas etc. Just like in Nigeria, some people's certificate is more useless than newspaper hand fan either because they are simply unemployable or they are not well organised. It is not because it is Nigerian certificate but the person himself or herself. The competition is real and harder at this point in time as many have warned. But you will miss or not be considered for employment because you can't speak Hindi or Arabic, or because you are Nigerian, or because you don't have gulf experience. But it rarely because your certificate is Nigerian. I stand strongly to be corrected sha. |
Chidonsky:Like drkay said, Your guy in Dubai may not be telling you the truth especially if he’s the one you’ll be handing your money to, for visa processing. Be wise oh. |
centoqoh:This is what is called unwarranted, unprovoked attack. Since you came from the wrong side of Bible study, I came from the right side. Prov. 15:1 1Peter 4:15 |
And someone will tell me to stay in Nigeria to make money. Money you can't withdraw in peace. Oshisko |
Borrow borrow. Shameless bunch. Even the UAE is now sending us food. The hunger is made in Nigeria |
Uwaiwe:Right |
Q: What happens to tourist visas that were issued before the Covid-19 crisis? To me, the government answer looks meaningless, but maybe it brings hope for some sha. |
This victims card has not worked for years and will not work. We keep confirming the condemnation. We need to tell ourselves to stop confirming the condemnation or racism or whatever name you call it. We need to stop killing Pakistanis or Cameroonians or anybody. Why go and be fighting and creating nuisance for God's sake? We all know that we have a reputation problem. Confirming that reputation and arguing that we are not the only criminals is not helping the honest, hardworking and innocent ones. The backlash affects all of us. It is not easy to pay for crime, not to mention crime that you did not commit. Our visas are the most expensive because of these kinds of nonsense. Better behaved people get visa on arrival or very cheap. Bans affect all of us, not only the criminals been defended. Our banks in Nigeria put all kinds of restrictions and hurdles because of our defended criminal brethren. |
daveP:Lol, it's business na. They know that the Nigerian audience revers him so they can't go for the jugular. Na introduction |
Enoch Adeboye, better known as "Daddy Go" (Daddy General Overseer), is a Nigerian pastor loved by his millions of followers, but who has once again riled critics on social media with what they say is his sexist attitude. The 78-year-old ranks low on the flamboyance roll-call of the West African nation's mega televangelists, but he is arguably the most popular. He has headed the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) for nearly 40 years - and under his stewardship it has grown phenomenally. It is rare to find in Nigeria's mainly Christian south a street without an RCCG church, some streets have two - and its dove logo has become part of the landscape. But the pastor's views on marriage and gender roles has some eyes rolling in the age of #metoo - even in this conservative country. 'Marry a woman who can cook' He has been active on social media over the last decade - and when he posted some "lessons" for women on his wife's birthday in July - it snowballed into a Twitter storm that sparked a big conversation about feminism. Pentecostal churches are popular in southern Nigeria "No matter how educated or successful you are, your husband is your head and you must regard him as such at all times," he tweeted to his 1.3 million followers . On Instagram he added about his wife : "It does not matter what is on her itinerary, if I say I would like you to go with me to so and so place... she would cancel whatever she was to do and come along with me." In a post in January , he advised his married son to sack a secretary "he was looking forward to seeing at work", which did not go down well. And in 2016 he had this advice to bachelors: "Don't marry a girl who is lazy. Don't marry a girl who cannot cook. She needs to know how to do chores and cook because you cannot afford to be eating out all the time." The televised address to his congregants riled women activists but his reception was not all negative - a fact borne out by the success of his church, which he runs like a business. 'Donations to get to heaven' Every Sunday, before a ban on large gatherings because of the coronavirus, hundreds of thousand of people passed through the doors of RCCG worldwide, seeking miracles, redemption, eternal life or a financial breakthrough. The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG). [ Founded 1952 by Josiah Akindayomi in Lagos ] [ 2,000 churches in Nigeria ],[ 40,000 of them altogether in 186 countries ],[ 500,000 people a month attend the Holy Ghost Service in Ogun state ],[ 9,000 sq km (347 sq miles) size of open-air prayer ground in Ogun ], "I want to be on the side of God under tutelage of a true Christian doctrine, I found this in RCCG. Personally, I want to make it to heaven," one church member told me in the capital, Abuja, where there is a huge prayer ground on the outskirts of the city. Others said they were attracted by Pastor Adeboye's "holiness", "humility" and "adherence to that which he preaches". Those flocking to church are happy to offer donations or purchase church souvenirs. Most of them agree to give 10% of their income to the church, a practice known as tithing. "Anyone who is not paying his tithe is not going to heaven, full stop," he told his clerics two years ago. It is hard to know the true extent of Pastor Adeboye's wealth, the lines are blurred between what belongs to the church and what is his - estimates of his fortune vary from $60m (£46m) to $130m. Pastor Adeboye with Rwandan President Paul Kagame and UK's ex-Prime Minister David Cameron. Pastor Adeboye with Israels Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Togos' President Faure Gnassingbé World leaders have even been pictured with the influential pastor This puts the former University of Lagos maths professor, who refuses to speak to the media, in the same league as the country's music stars, and richer than most of Nigeria's foreign-based professional footballers. But beside an array of bow ties that accompany his trademark safari suits and striped shirts, he looks austere compared to the flashy standards of his Pentecostal peers. No shiny shoes, no oiled hair, his English does not rise and fall with an American accent. Born to poor parents, he cuts a relatively humble figure and those close to him describe him as much. Yet, he - or the church - owns a university, a Gulfstream jet and some fancy cars. Neutral in politics Pastor Adeboye is also politically powerful - and well respected by middle class urbanised Nigerians. Presentational grey line Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye 1942: Born in Ifewara, Osun state, south-west Nigeria 1967: Obtained bachelors degree in mathematics 1967: Married Foluke Adeyokunnu 1977: Ordained a pastor in RCCG 1981: Becomes general overseer of RCCG In presidential election campaigns, some candidates have made it their duty to visit his prayer sessions and to be seen praying and shaking hands with him - and his website has photos of him greeting world leaders. His views on women - in which he often references the bible - are seen by some as unsurprising, even if some say the verses themselves can be interpreted in other ways. "Christianity and religions are the enforcers of patriarchy, so it's not far-fetched that a religious leader would be holding on such a view," Martha Edem, a Christian Nigerian writer, told me. She described his "birthday tweets" as a missed opportunity to teach couples mutual respect and love. But even some gender activists in the deeply religious country do not want to take him on. "For me it is down to the individual interpretation… I can't judge a man of God, Christianity is a religion of conviction," gender activist and academic Abigail Ogwezzy-Ndisika said. The wealth of Nigeria's mega pastors often make them a soft target for those who perceive them as exploitative. Some suggest Pastor Adeboye should use his influence more with politicians - after all even the current Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo is an RCCG pastor. To be fair, he led a peaceful march in February to highlight the insecurity in the country. He has shown he is measured about his involvement in politics - not siding with one party or another. But those expecting him to be more neutral about his views on marriage and a woman's role in the home, will have to wait a long time. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/amp/world-africa-53488921 |
Hmm. Put this same Farooq Kperogi there, chances are 99.5% that he would do same. All these ginger and grammar APC has done it before during the time of PDP. There seems to be a strong curse on our dear country. The whole nation is indeed fantastically corrupt. |
They should not kill innocent people oh please. Just carry anybody and put them in Abuja for 3months. Which kind of investigation and accusations be this. Even the mother of suspect, they carry from village.
