PoliticsSetting Straight The Record On Peter Obi And Seun Kuti: Reno Omokri by gmo10(op): 10:47am On May 18, 2023
Since the slapping incident involving Seun Kuti and the policeman, which I condemn, Obidients have been celebrating what they see as Seun's downfall, which they see as divine retribution for not supporting Peter Obi. But the downfall of a man is not the end of his life.

One publicly said it served Seun Kuti right for not supporting the purest, cleanest and most capable candidate.

This idea that Peter Obi is an incorruptible man is false. Peter Obi is at least as corrupt, or even more so, than Tinubu, the known dr*g lord. This man saved the equivalent of $50 million of Anambra state money in his own bank. Fidelity Bank.A bank in which he had significant interests. A bank where he was a former chairman.

In a year, that money will yield at least $5 million when invested in the S&P 500 (likely more). Much of that $5 million minimum annual yield would be Peter Obi's personal profit. And that is every year. So, imagine how much money Peter Obi personally made in eight years as a Governor from the conflict of interest in investing state funds in his private bank. No wonder he boasted of being richer than President Biden!

And then you guys are here, rightly pillorying Tinubu for benefitting from Lagos's money through Alphabeta. That is even better than what Peter Obi did. There was an attempt to cover up Alphabeta's corruption. Peter Obi did not attempt to cover his. It was blatant!

And they know they have no defence against this corruption. That is why when you bring it up, they immediately shift away from the issues and insult you, so you can leave the issue and get angry or accuse you of being anti-Igbo.

When I was donating millions to Onitsha Market fire victims, I was not anti-Igbo. When I fought Buhari for eight years for not being fair to Ndi'Igbo, I was not anti-Igbo. When I wrote nine columns in the last six years praising the Igbo spirit, I was not an Igbo-phobe. When I gave out ₦2.3 million as palliatives to Nigerians (of which 38% of the recipients were Igbo), I was not anti-Igbo.

Only in a country like Nigeria could Peter Obi have gotten away with what he did in Anambra. If a South African regional leader paid state funds into a bank he had interests in, he would have joined President Jacob Zuma in prison.

If you tried that in Europe and America, the state will even seize that business, and you will be banned from politics forever, after paying restitution. That was pure and open corruption. And if a Hausa or Fulani core Northern Muslim did it, the Southern press would have excoriated him.

The man further went on to invest Anambra state funds in a beer brewery in which he had interests. That is Fidel Marcos-level corruption.

If I have lied, I challenge Peter Obi to sue me. You can gaslight the rest of Nigeria, but certainly not me. Enough with the propaganda. It is getting sickening.

Seun Kuti made a mistake. I accept that. But he is still a VERY GREAT NIGERIAN from an even GREATER family that has served Nigeria more sacrificially and honestly than Peter Obi and his lineage.

In terms of education, record in office and corruption, Peter Obi was the least qualified out of the quartet that also included Rabiu Kwankwaso, Waziri Atiku Abubakar, and Bola Tinubu.

You guys were gaslit. They planned all of these things. They pulled the wool over your eyes. Peter Obi CANNOT survive scrutiny. Not at all. He is as corrupt as they come! Meet me in court!

Even the results on INEC IREV shows he did not win in some of the state's and places given to him.

Research on elections shows thst2PODATTI won over 90% of votes cast in military barracks all over the country.

PoliticsElection: Three Things That Worked For Tinubu - Carson by gmo10(op): 6:25pm On Apr 06, 2023
Mr Johnnie Carson, American Diplomat and a foreign observer in the just concluded 2023 general elections has said three factors are responsible for the victory of the President-elect, Bola Tinubu.

Carson, an Executive Officer of the United States Institute of Peace (USIP) spoke in Washington DC when the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, paid an official visit to the institute to engage on the concluded elections.

The diplomat said he co-led National Democratic Institute, NDI, and International Republican Institute, IRI, International Election Observation Mission to Nigeria during the elections.
According to him, Tinubu, the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate, undoubtedly won the polls and will be sworn-in come May 29, except something happens dramatically with the court.

“Do you know why he won? He got the money, he had the best national organisation that worked for him and the ground game,’’ he said.

Carson emphasised that for a candidate to win an election in Nigeria, like a lot of democracy in the globe, the three things, including substantial and significant financial resources were needed.

Others, according to him, are a national working organisation and a grass-root acceptance.

He said while Tinubu had all the three criteria in his kitty during the polls, the other major contenders did not have all.
Speaking specifically on the Labour Party Presidential candidate, Carson said, “on the part of Mr Peter Obi, he did not have the ground game and a national organisation.

“Obi is, however, very popular, particularly among the young, educated, urban and sophisticated,’’ he said.

Carson said that the presidential election was one of the most competitive polls in Nigeria and in Africa.

He, however, observed that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, needed to up its game.

“Nigeria deserves the very best electoral process.

“To me, the problem is not with Tinubu and the other candidates,’’ he said.

Carson hailed President Muhammadu Buhari for his commitment in delivering a free and fair election for Nigeria.

He said the president “is a man of outstanding integrity’’ and he demonstrated the attribute in the past elections.

On his part, the minister said considering where INEC was coming from and where it were today, there were massive improvements in the conduct of the 2023 polls.

Conceding that there was room for improvements, the minister said the introduction of a new technology Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) by INEC underpinned the credibility of the elections.

According to him, BVAS cut out fraudulent votes, ghost voters and multiple votes.

Mohammed said the election was conducted against the backdrop of fuel shortage, mounting insecurity and poorly timed cash swap policy.

The minister also had engagements with the Council on Foreign Relations, a well versed think-tank on African affairs and foreign relations chaired by a Nigerian, Dr Ebenezer Obadare.

He was also at the Reuters News Agency; The Politico, an international political newspaper, and Zenger News, a channel that publishes its contents on Forbes.

During his respective interactions with the Think-tanks and international media, the minister presented the facts of the just concluded polls as against skewed narratives of the opposition and naysayers.

The interactions also delved into economy and foreign affairs.

At Reuters, the agency’s recent investigation of alleged secret programmes of coerced abortion of women and girls freed from insurgents’ captivity was discussed.

PoliticsChina Meets President-elect Tinubu On Trade, Diplomatic Relations With Nigeria by gmo10(op): 12:40pm On Apr 05, 2023
The Chinese government said its delegation headed by its ambassador to Nigeria has met with President-elect Bola Tinubu to discuss diplomatic and trade relations.

China said it had identified people-to-people cooperation, which leads to cultural exchanges, as one of the main focus areas in its relationship with Nigeria and other countries.

Chinese ambassador to Nigeria, Cui Jianchun, said this at a one-day seminar held at the University of Abuja on Tuesday day.

He added that he was ready to work with the new administration to be sworn in on May 29.

“I have talked with the president-elect and the vice-president-elect, and I believe we shared a lot of ideas, and I have also shared my ideas and practices with the current President Buhari, and China believes that the current president has set a very solid foundation for the next government,” Mr Cui said. “In spite of the challenges Nigeria faced, the country has smart, hardworking and talented people.”

The seminar had as its theme ‘Chinese Harmony and China-Nigeria Symphony’.

Mr Cui said policy coordination, financial integration, facilities connectivity, and trade and investment were the other cooperation priorities of its government.

The ambassador explained that policy coordination included planning and supporting large-scale infrastructural development projects, and financial integration included enhancing monetary coordination and bilateral financial cooperation.

He also described trade and investment as facilitating cross-border investments and supply chain cooperation, and the facilities connectivity included building facilities to enable connectivity along the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

The BRI, also called the New Silk Road, is a China-led infrastructure project that aims to stretch globally.

The initiative was launched in 2013 by President Xi Jinping and had a collection of development and investment initiatives originally devised to link East Asia and Europe through physical infrastructure.

The project has, however, expanded to Africa, Oceania, and Latin America.

Moreover, Mr Cui said the trade value between China and the BRI countries was ¥13.8, approximately N923 trillion or $2 trillion, which Nigeria is part of.

“The BRI is an initiative proposed by the Chinese government aimed at promoting Nigeria-China, Africa-China relations. It is good to try to increase trade among the big countries, not only the individual countries. Nigeria and China have huge potentials, which both countries can work together to harness,” explained the Chinese ambassador.

Mr Cui added, “The most important thing is how we can increase our productivity in Nigeria, and I am working hard on trying to build industries, trying to get Chinese investment. I do believe in the future that we can have products exported to Chinese markets.”

The envoy, who said BRI had achieved its objectives, urged both countries to explore the extensive consultations, enjoy the contributions, and share the benefits.

PoliticsIgede Is Not Idoma by gmo10(op): 7:14pm On Mar 29, 2023
By
Pita Obam.

The purpose of this write up is to promote mutual respect and understanding among the Igedes and the rest of Idomas.

For starters, please don't feel offended when an Igede man says he is not Idoma.
It is not out of pride, nor out of superiority complex, neither is it a denial of his historical root.

Indeed, Igede and Idoma have cohabited for too long enough to be called and regarded as brothers.

However, suffice to say, the differences between the two tribes are just too pronounced to be ignored.

Let me be quick to say that the name Idoma is actually a colonial administrative, convenient coinage referring to all the different tribes and tongues in Benue South.

In this Benue South, there are languages and dialects such as Idoma(for the greater number), Igede, Agila, Ufia, Agatu and some others. Apart from Igede, the rest actually subscribe to the name, Idoma.

And somebody may get angry and say, if the Igedes are not Idomas, how come their Ancestor, Chief (Dr.) Abraham Ajine Okpabi, became Och'Idoma for clear 35 years?

The reason is not far fetched. The chiefdom belonged to all the different tribes in Benue South, so any one can take a shot at it.

Even as it is now, an Igede man can still become an Och'Idoma tomorrow.

This is because, all the First Class Chiefs in Benue South pay allegiance to the Och'Idoma who is the Paramount ruler and Chairman of Idoma(plus Igede) Traditional Council.

This means the stool of Och'Idoma is rotational. The next Och'Idoma after this present one is likely to be an Igede father.

It is pertinent to understand this discuss from the perspective of dialectical materialism (a borrowed phrase from Marxism for the purpose of looking at an issue at the root level)

What makes two people members of a particular tribe are cultural similarities they both share.

Those similarities reveal themselves in the way they marry or give in marriage, their burial systems, their naming ceremonies and even in their festivals.

A cursory look at these traditional practices would, indeed, reveal that the similarities shared by an Idoma man with his Igede counterpart are very few, if not negligible. Rather, the differences between them are quite pronounced.

A curious student of the historical and cultural practices of the two will discover such huge widening differences:

1. The marriage traditions are different. For instance, to solemnize Igede traditional marriage, firing of marriage gunshots is a MUST. It is not the same with the rest of Idomas. Alekwu system practiced in idoma marriages is not observed by the Igedes.

2. Their burial systems differ. For instance, a deceased Igede wife is buried in her husband's yard. But it's still a practice among some Idomas to return dead body of the wife to her father.

3. Naming ceremonies take different tangents.

4. Family life and systems also differ.

5. Traditional religious observations are not same.

6. The several taboos in Igede traditional society are not same as Idoma taboos.

7. Historical descendence is from different directions. (Igede Ancestor relocated from Oraa, Sabongida, Edo State, many years ago)

8. Cultural festivals and observations differ. Igede people celebrate yearly Igede Agba, while idomas celebrate ijalegwu.

9. It is very obvious now that the cultural attires are completely different.

10. The Igede person is called 'Igede', while the Idoma person is called Idoma (or Ufia, Agila, Agatu etc)

The above differences and many more are what make an Igede person different from an Idoma person.

Having said that, highlighting those differences is not intended to further divide us.

But understanding these differences, and learning to live with them will promote better understanding and mutual respect for one another.

Willy nilly, providence has joined us together. We are, so far, still under one chiefdom. We belong to one senatorial zone, Benue South, hence under one political destiny.

We have even intermarried severally and are still doing so. There are many other instances of cooperation that we now share.

I, therefore, call on us all to understand ourselves and work towards the development of Benue South senatorial district.

Nyesom Wike, governor of Rivers, says he is inviting Bola Tinubu, the President-elect, to the state to inaugurate projects constructed by his administration.
Wike spoke on Wednesday during a media chat with journalists in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers.
The governor said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) won the March 18 governorship election in the state because his administration has done well for the people.
“There are areas you know this party will, there are areas you know this party is likely to win, and there are areas you know it will be tough,” Wike said.
“Every day we campaign, commission, and flag-off projects and you think the people are not seeing. Yesterday, I inspected two flyovers that I am inviting the president-elect to come and commission. Yes, I’m inviting the president-elect.”
Wike said his administration would inaugurate and flag off several projects before his tenure ends on May 29.
“By Monday next week, we will start commissioning another round of projects,” Wike said, adding that the people of the state have confidence in his government to fulfill the promises he made.

NOTE,

The PDP and LP are no longer putting their energy into challenging the allegedly rigged election results, they are now more interested about disqualifying BAT. So they have now confirmed from their forensic examination of the BVAS and election materials that BAT actually won

Nigerian activist, Aisha Yesufu has called out UK’s Ambassador to Nigeria, Catriona Laing for telling Nigerians to be proud of the presidential election, IGBERETV reports.

In a video she shared on Twitter, Aisha Yesufu recalled how Catriona said she was fascinated by the presidential election. She sarcastically “congratulated” the UK ambassador, adding that Nigerian politicians heard her loud and clear and killed more people in the just concluded governorship and house of assembly election.

Aisha Yesufu who decried the killings in the elections stated that Catriona is telling Nigerians to accept what can’t be accepted in her home country, UK. She said the UK ambassador must be proud of the election even though people are not harassed in her country during elections. Yesufu also alleged that developed countries want Africa to continue being down so they can always send handouts.

Yesufu captioned the video on her Twitter handle;
