The infrastructures built by the Soviet Union are being enjoyed today in Ukraine. In fact Ukraine was a fortress built to protect the capital-Russia. This a big industrialise country. In the small city of Mariupol alone. The Russians need nothing less than 20k troops to take the city. The city has different underground shelters. It is a fortress. The Chechens had to fight for every building. Imagine how hard it is do that. The steel plant, chemical plant e.t.c are huge fortress on their own. The capital Kiev has thousands of high rise buildings. Imagine when you have to clear those buildings one after the other. Imagine the looses you will suffer.

In Iraq for example. If you can take the capital- Baghdad and the second largest city Mosul, then it is game over. In fact there are more high rise building in the little city of Mariupol than Baghdad. The story is not the same with Ukraine. Almost all the cities are developed.

You need nothing less than 600k+ troops to take Ukraine.

Ukraine had one of the weakest armies on earth before the invasion, Ukraine's air force and navy then was almost zero with no sophisticated weapons, except land forces.

But I think fighting this war for almost a year now with western weapons and their extraordinary determination has now made Ukraine's military very powerful.

You are just trying to make excuses for Russia's failure, the so-called superpower which has failed to do extensive work on so many areas of modern warfare before invading Ukraine
