Thanks. damilola1978: Liquidating means that the upfront interest is recalculated upto the day you decided to liquidate and the excess upfront interest(already paid to you) is deducted from your principal...meaning you would not get your full initial capital back. |

Guy u like trouble oh ? Focusingmore: Same argument.
We can't compare Nigeria's minimum wage to developed countries.
Like aihbolagas has been telling you. The western system was designed and rigged to favour them .
I send 50k eur home they devalue it into 35k EUR.
So the minimum wage is a reflection of rigged global system.
If one eur turns to one naira will people be zealous to travel out? |

I know u may feel offended but lets put all the arguments to rest. Sholapey: Thank you sir, I understand why we are here is to gain one or the two ideas and I've never attacked anyone here before, I only contribute what I know and go....but the gentle man who ask the question simply asked a simple one in which I gave my opinion but for these people to discourage him from where he said his parents can afford was what made me sad. One of my former colleagues who works as a student was a student of trinity college but later got a job in her line of study with Guinness ireland and all her permanent residence was taken care of by her new employer. Myself and her are in a good position to mentor the young man if needed, and that's what I meant by saying "his got a sister here". For the fact they have bad experience about they're environment doesn't mean the young man can't be in it...! |

What investment would give someone 20%? onegig: I have always been of the opinion that investment in bonds for people with "limited funds" is actually not a too good position to take up if profit making is actually your aim. Most of these bonds currently are hedges against inflation.
Yeah, I understand your risk aversion and thoughts on preservation of your funds but you would be better off investing the money into something that can give you 20% year on year. That's a personal opinion by the way.
Inflation is likely going to be stable and may drop to a single digit in the next 2 to 3 years if current efforts to make major imports like Milk, PMS and rice are successfully substituted by local supplies.
I still don't have a clear idea about how Dangote Refinery would operate. What pricing module would be employed? Sell at international rates or have a local crude swap deal to have "sort of subsidized" prices?
But notwithstanding the options they take would have major impacts on inflation. |

Would you rather have them loose their money to the "investment" they are not well informed about, or conduct due diligence and apply due care"? investment is a time bound learning, experience is not always the best teacher. emmasoft: WHEN DUE DILIGENCE BECOMES PROCRASTINATION Beware! Generally, we are told “do your due diligence” very good and important, however, let’s be careful sometimes in the name of due diligence one may end up in procrastination which is fueled by fear most times. Especially for those just joining or about to join the investment journey, don’t give in to procrastination in the name of due diligence. Due diligence should lead you to making reasonable and informed decision within a reasonable time otherwise the delay in making that investment decision has become procrastination which is also exhibited by the fearful. Remember fear will hinder you from making the money you aught to make and greed will make you lose the money you already made. Sukuk bond, other bonds, mutual funds – MMF, VGIF, even stocks are out there for you to take the opportunity. Don’t wait too long in the name of due diligence. Some of the investment windows are time bound. Make a move and invest. Nothing to small, just start. u need to understand that the risk appetite of people differ. hence their decision to invent in what they understand. seyisanya : The statement in block letters is very true and I completely agree, but there is need for a paradigm shift. I feel we need to begin to expatiate all the investment quotes out there, which includes CASH IS KING, so that intending investors can have a clearer understanding of how things work. Yes, invest in what you understand but be open-minded and seek knowledge of other investment vehicles. I know people that only understand fixed deposit as a viable form of passive investment/income. When you try to educate them about Treasury bills or Mutual Funds, they quickly respond with the usual statement, ''I ONLY INVEST IN WHAT I UNDERSTAND''. But we all know that understanding how T-bills and MMF work is not rocket science. |

You are right. But some banks in Nigeria offer good services too. In terms of securing the IT infrastructure , give it to Nigeria. With the adoption MFA/ 2 factor authentication. Etc . Was surprised at the level of IT security in place in Canadian banks. But I think they are insured more. Nnamz: Sometimes I wonder if it is the same Nigeria I know you guys are talking about. You know the longest I've ever waited to be served in a bank here in Canada? 5 minutes or less. You know how many times I've lined up to withdraw money from an ATM? ZERO. Yes you read that right. Zero times that I sometimes wonder if I'm the only one that uses ATMs. I could from the comfort of my bedroom take a screenshot of a cheque and have the funds deposited in my bank account, within seconds, without leaving my house. Abeg stop all these unnecessary hype about Nigeria. Fear God na |

Hmmm interesting question and tough too. Make i wait for the professors.... OBelz: I was having a discussion with a few friends sometime around 2 weeks ago and they brought a subject that affects everyone of us.
The reality of Covid-19 has caused and will cause a cataclysmic paradigm shift in the way we live our lives, earn a living and our reality.
In the space of few months, businesses and companies have gone to the ground and people have lost jobs. Some Jobs are being threatened and the relevance of many other jobs are being called to question. Those who have been in between jobs prior to the Covid have been made to wait longer as most companies aren't recruiting.
But we have to survive now and post Covid.
1. What has been your reality this period in terms of how you earn a living and how you conduct business. What is the impact of Covid 19, in practical ways, in how you earn a living?
2. What are your make shift plans or thoughts on how to survive?
3. What do you think will be the reality of how people make a living post covid; what business or career path/how do you hope to earn a living post Covid-19?
4. What action plan do you suggest for me to take to earn a living? |

Guy i respect ur hustle, we all came to hustle in canada. Its a smart thing u are investing in nigeria. But the smartest thing is to be a busness owner or a strong investor, in the west no job is gurranted forever people loss jobs etc. when you marry ur responsibility go pass that amount. i know fight u but u need to break the circle of working till u are 70. my thought, zohan101: Take it easy o, we arent fighting. We just having a debate and people shouldnt get emotional about this topic please. But to answer your question; I live in Edmonton; a city in alberta.Alberta has got the highest minimum wage of $15 per hour and also the lowest tax rate in Canada. You can check to confirm what I just said. I live in a flat shared with a flatmate.Rent is $1200 per month(all inclusive of utility bills) and we both pay $600 each..I spend $250-300 on food permonth, monthly bus/train pass of $70;Please before you argue with me on this, its my own expense oo, some1 may have a different monthly expense. So intotal my monthly expense has never exceeded $1500..that lives me with over $3500 for investments.Matter of fact I do invest minimum of $1500(#450,000) monthly im my Naira portfiolio.Same me struggled to save #50k monthly in nigeria while earning #150k permonth as a project engineer in Lagos.
Please like I said earlier its been a rewarding decisioñ for me but I have had of others who regretted after relocation..Abeg make we nor argue am pass like this bros, we all live different lives..#Cheers |

And you must be leaving under the bridge or on trees in Canada right ? u know go pay rent , feeding nko ? car insurance nko or na bicycle u dey drive? zohan101: You are right bro..Thats $4200 PER MONTH after tax compared to my $6300 PER YEAR I was earning living in Nigeria..Guess what; in canada aint nothing like a best life, its an egalitarian society.Everyone is entitled to the good quality of life the country offers its citizens, regardless of whether you a millonaire of not..Unless your definitio of best life is going on vaçations on a yatch.lol..Take it or leave it, quality of life here beats what is obtainable in Nigeria..I love 9ja but thankGod I relocated.
