dru23: Yes we learn sha .. I was using the American system of running a business in Nigeria.. It took me a while to realize that it will not work .......
We Nigerians are a total different breed of human beings Old boy Nigerians sabi take advantage if they see a weakness in you and when the business collapses they call you a fool. Always be repelled by lazy people; they are enemies. They will infect you with their lack of muscle tone and spread discouragement all over you like a blight. Nothing works in their world and optimists are daydreamers. Once it calls for persistence and boneheaded latching on, they see ancestral curses and their world begins to teem with demons nobody can conquer. They want to infuse you with that hopelessness so that you can go sit in the dust with them watching television or scrolling social media or fighting over Messi and Ronaldo all day long. Lazy people are like influenza patients or worse because influenza patients will only kill you with their proximity but the lazy man or woman has a lethal tongue in addition. Don't allow them get so close you begin to roll in bed like them and say nothing works and nothing will work. Keep away from them - they are actual enemies. |

dru23: Your own is still ok..... Do u know how many drivers will call me and beg that they can't deliver due to family work is hard etc ... ..the calls from some drivers were out of hand .. And I blame myself for it .. The reason is that I used to call my drivers and ask after their wellbeing ..big mistake .....big mistake .......BIG MISTAKE..........VERY BIG MISTAKE ........BIG MISTAKE..... ...
some of those drivers will now pour out their problems........ I than officially brought down my rental to 25k weekly .. And I stop calling them to ask after their wellbeing. .. And I said to myself if anyone of them complain after bringing rental down to 25k and am still responsible for 100% maintenance .... I will stylishly collect my car from them..
I have done it in the past ... Like the old saying goes if you want to catch a monkey you pet the monkey until it enters your trap .... Gone are the days I will be shouting and screaming at people. ......
Things are tough for everyone now .. People need to buckle up and grab the bull by the horn.
We thank God sha.. Things are now improving and am hoping that in nearest future I will bring rental down to 20k ..... This is will based on the amount of cars I have on my fleet ... For now we at dru23 are still growing and I hope to make that 20k rental a reality.... Lower then 25k, and full maintenance with the price of foreign exchange, you dey try o, for me 35k with full maintenance is about right, as per calling drivers to enquire about their welfare, who does that, I’ll rather run my business like a Hertz or Avis, strictly as a car rental company, l see no need for family discuss it complicates things, More grease to your elbows Bruv, you sound tough at times but l am seeing a soft side to your character 20k Hmmmmm. Heard from Ipwood, not seen him for a while, he is quite an interesting and delightful character, By the way do you import Honda civics for sale |

kanuisagoat: Once you come to me that your wife is in the hospital trying to give birth and the doctor is recommending operation but you don't have the money and want me to borrow or give you, you are wasting your time.
You had 9 months to prepare for your wife's delivery. You didn't think she might require CS to give birth all through the 9 months?
And if you know you won't be able to afford the cost of delivery, you shouldn't have gotten your wife pregnant.
Even me know when I go close to my wife, I personally have a calender on my phone that tracks her safe and unsafe periods. It can be so much work and sometimes frustrating but it's the price I have to pay. After doing all these, someone will expect me to pay for his own lack of planning? Not going to happen.
I have one kid and left to me, I'm perfectly okay with it but my wife would have none of it. She wants a minimum of two. I had to just give in to her but on the condition that the second kid will only come when I decide I'm ready. Discipline is the key, interesting no wonder you are doing so well, discipline in one area, if extended to all areas of life means success and growth , guys learn from one of the best |

I had a family relation that had 1 child . he will call me to help him out .. He will tell me his son has not eaten and ask me to send $100 for feeding.. I did it few times here and there. Until he had baby number 3 ..
I stop picking his calls and told him that when he was enjoying love making with his wife . I was that not invited to the party and they love making dey sweet am .. It is now time for him to face reality etc ... I never pick his call after that .. I read him the riot act . it is not my job to feed your family , I even stop doing business with him . I can't let another man be a liability to me because he can't feed his family...... Old boy you are tough o, chai, you can enjoy your wife, as much as you want without having babies, it’s all a matter of family planning and enlightenment. |

When it comes too off-line wrk or uber itself.. All that matters is the presentation of the car which includes a/c suspension , safety etc .as long the car is safe to drive and no mechanical issues ..
This is all that matters.. I was ahead of the game a long time ago .....1 of my driver that drives 04 civic told me that anytime he picks up a rider they are impress by the civic .. They can't believe a civic can look this good and clean .....and he does off-line wrk Hi Dru do you sell Honda Civic |

alongetayo: Dear Copilots I need your sincere advice.
I lost my contract bank job 2 and half years ago, though I was earning less than 80k.
6 months later I was able to gather funds, personal savings, Loans from family and friends (Non interest) and I got a Matrix 04, I have since paid back all these loans.
I have been driving on uber/bolt for 2 years and its wonderful. I net above 100k in a month when I work fully, but the fatigue and stress has been taking a toll on my health since last year( I started looing weight and now I'm down some other ailments, but getting better) I started active driving 2 years ago, may be im not the strong type tho.
Recently I got a job offer of a little above 100k(net) outside lagos(Ilesa, i am from the area also) which means I have to relocate. It comes with an accommodation.
My car is in perfect condition but I don't have the will to continue this ehailing jo Pls is it a good advice to take up the offer or I just continue my ehailing job, may be just weekend hustle?
Note: The job is just a managerial job and not too much stress in it. Surely you know where the shoe pinches, and what works for you, it’s not a choice anyone can Make for you. Best of luck Bruv |

Bammzzie: Bro, I dnt think u knw d meaning of zombie cos to me I'm seeing it as an insult to everyone of us here cos most of us here are doing this business to sustain a living either by full-time or part-time career and some lives such as families or friends depends on it too. I knw alot of salary earners that do borrow from Uber drivers. Some has fleet of cars in this business, are u telling me they are dumb to make that choice?? Go to all this Indian companies and see how they are treating people on top 20k salary with 6am-6pm rigorous work o, of which Uber drivers will earn that in a day or 2. Let Uber, bolt etc just pack off and see how unemployment will skyrocket in Nigeria. Lemme just stop here and dnt just be calling people zombies carelessly, I believe we are all mature here. #peace Lazy people or some empty people with a false sense of importance, nothing to their name, or pedigree , they just think they are better then everybody dey call UBER drivers zombie, in the U.K. there are over 70k Uber driver, in India 450k , USA about 400k, and in all these countries the average UBER driver still earns more then the average salary holder, or how many white collard workers earn N300k monthly or in Lon how many workers earn £900 wkly, Let’s be thankful folks, UBER BOLT have been a help to millions of people. peeps4u: The way you guys talk down on this work seems like an agenda.
Your earlier claim was that he could hardly make 150k in a month, after being shown how much he really earned, you now talk about the job being for zombies.
Isn't it better to be a financially healthy and independent zombie than being broke?
It is a good job from whence anyone can build his earning and move to something bigger. We have drivers here that already have 2-3 cars on rentals apart from their personal cars they use for uber.
Perhaps you show a better way of earning without stress. Some drivers are lazy and can't stand seeing others succeed . Those are the one's calling hard working drivers Zombies, In my opinion the more hard you work, the quicker you can save money to start a side hustle and make more money. every UBER driver should have a plan. At a point we do suffer from the BURN OUT SYNDROME IN EHAILLING. When we just need a rest from ehailing, recharge our batteries and fire on, But London or Lagos, ehailing gives you far more then the average income earner. How many people in Nigeria have the opportunity to earn N300k or in London how many people can up their game to £1000 per wk, let’s appreciate what we have Bruv |

From the owner side, spare parts are super expensive, and you can't be in this business without maintenance.

Felicity0001: Neither you nor the drivers are right or wrong everyone is only finding a ground suitable for them.
Many months ago I think when I was still driving for dru I was somewhere around Ajao estate at about past 9pm... This gentle man's request came in and was going to lekki or it environs where I was looking for a
He was the one that rang me Me: hello sir, pls your destination (normally I don't ask but once it's past 6pm both Uber and Bolt adviced we driver's to always ask of destination once its dark) Rider: after telling me his destination went on further to inform me it a card trip. Me: I was like...wow! .... Both odds against me
I got to PU and the guy was already waiting outside and we had an understanding which we finally made the trip offline.
There are Something about card trips; 1. Always inform the driver on the phone prio his arrival to PU. I understand most times cards trips always come with bonus for the rider, never the less riders should endeavor to communicate to the driver for good understanding and a smooth ride. 2. Card trips are either used to pay for outstanding commission owned by driver's or to be paid to their account on Mondays of every week provided the driver's account is still active if paraventure the driver's account is blocked while having a positive balance that money will be domant in that account pending when it will be unblocked. 3. Drivers need cash to carryout daily expenses on their cars, pay toll fees, settle law enforcement agents, weekly remittance et el.
I can't count the numbers of times ive collected money from rider while on trip to buy fuel.
Most of the time especially Mondays I leave the house with just 500naira fuel.
Life na understanding, riders understand that their life is partially in the hand of the one that holds the wheel when on a trip because if you get that man angry they can run you into anything and call it accident and there's nothing anyone will do about it.
Any rider that don't want to disclose his/her destination has an evil intention n such rider don't deserve a ride simple To be honest UBER‘S business model was built on payment by card not by cash, Personally l see payment by cash as very dangerous, as per asking for destination, l was taking aback when my UBER driver asked for my destination, but in retrospect l think it’s a wise thing, our roads are incredibly bad. It’s best to know where you are going , so you can plan yourself very well. |

OJURONGBE1: I saw this on Instagram. There are people who use every opportunity to denigrate Uber drivers. Is it too much a task to be about her way and order another ride? Is it a crime to also ask where a rider is heading ? I'm not justifying what the driver did by asking for offline but there's no harm in negotiating a deal as this. Fellas, what do you think? This behaviour is really bad from an e-hailing driver, the lady should do everything in her power to get this disgraceful driver OFF e-hailing both on UBER and BOLT. It’s a big shame to all decent e-hailing driver all over the world, such nonsense should never be tolerated, I remember a UBER driver who took me to Namdi Azikiwe airport, l was to pay N3500 for the trip, he started complaining that it should cost N5500 and asked if l could add N1500 to the amount, l immediately told him , it’s my job and it’s what l do, many times, l have taken riders to the airport without any return job, in business you win some you lose some, it’s what it is. When I arrived her street, what my eyes and car saw brought tears to my eyes. The road am talking about is PIPELINE ROAD. I simply didn't go further. I parked at the beginning of the road and called her that am at the beginning of the road and she should find a way and meet me there. The girl said she can't come and I should hurry and come. I told her that her street is a shitt hole and am not hurrying anywhere. This girl said that am mad and very stuppid. I did not talk.
I braved the road and drove down to her house. I wanted to perform a Rock Bottom Smack Down on this girl if she ever came out of her house. I would have discombobulated this very truculent human being. But it seems the holy spirit revealed my intentions to her and this girl refused to come out when I arrived and was calling her to come and enter.
May God save us in this Nigeria. This year has been very terrible for my businesses and Uber hustle. I can't hold back the tears. Rock Bottom Smack down for what, don’t take your frustration out on anybody. For me l leave my problems at the feet of Jesus and believe tomorrow go better, Always be polite to riders. |

donfortune48: Let me tell you what's mathematically possible, but not practically possible.
25k gross per day Which is 650k gross (before commission) a month; if you work 6days per week/ 26days a month.
Which is 520k net a month (after commission). Say fuel is 30k per week, 120k a month.
The money comes down to 400k a month. Remove 35k for food/Data/airtime a month.
It comes to 365k a month.
Again, To achieve this, you have to work from 5am to 12am, 6days a week/ 26days a month; without visiting the mechanic or spend on any other thing.
Your 400k is theoretically not possible bro, talk less of being practically achievable. Bruv, I will be workIng 7 days a week from 7am to 11pm every day for 2months till the 5th of January. After which l revert to my normal 12hrs 4/5 days in a week. May God bless your Hustle during the SURGE MONTHS OF NOV/DEC. THE XMAS MONTHS. N800/600k ITS POSSIBLE GUYS. donfortune48: Make una leave that man alone. The way people call figures here baffles me.
Though the job is quite fair and better than most corporate jobs here in Lagos if you put in hours to work with less problematic car.
If you Gross 400k in a month (commission inclusive) That's 320k net (after commission)
An averagely good driver spends minimum of 25k a week on fuel. That's 100k a month. Bringing the money further down to 220k at the end of the month.
If you remove feeding, say 1k per day. That's 30k a month. Say data and airtime is 5k a month. The money comes further down to 185k.
To achieve this, you must gross a minimum of 15k per day/ 6days a week and 26days a month without visiting the mechanic or spending on any miscellaneous thing.
They keep calling figures without stating the basic statistics. Nov/Dec is the surge months , the best months for E-hailing drivers, trust me its achievable If you condition yourself to work really hard. God bless your Hustle!! Bruv. |
