Guys I need your help, my engineer is telling me that my foundation will be this tall due to swampy area, I am scared of the amount I will spend, any suggestions please

Good afternoon Sir,

I will advice you listen to his advice.

I was at a swampy area in Port Harcourt last Sunday and that is the trend. You can make enquiries about residential areas around Ibeto and some NPA areas in Port Harcourt. My friends foundation in that swampy area has a height of 9 coaches.

Houses with poor foundation have sunk several feet deep into the soil and the owners have sold their properties and vacated.

Kindly do your investigation. Well done Sir.

Morning sir. Not all screeders can apply basecoat because it doesn't dry within minutes like pop screeding.
Second coat is applied next day or after 6 hours. They complete everything round with the first coat and do the finishing coat together next day.

Ok Sir, the 20sq.m each bucket will cover is it for both first and second layers complete?

Please can the Base coat putty be applied by anybody?...or do I have to call a specialist to apply it?

Can it be applied by an artisan that does normal screeding?

Thank you.

Open it so I can view the inside.

Truth is, I don't deal on smart products. But, all original DBs have common features.

Especially the highly efficient ones.

Mere looking at this, it is the original smart, however, am not sure if it is the highly efficient one.
But, all smart products are usually quality.
But, efficiency is different from quality.

Very clear, Good morning and Thank you Sir.

The old smart was good at it's time.
However, the hybrid is better and more efficient.

Note also that Smart England has nothing attached to it, like Smart-Lite, King-Smart, Smart-bt, etc

Ok Sir, kindly check this one, what do you have to say about this 'Smart England'?

Thank you once again.

I have spent the past 3 hrs going through this thread. Over 3k pages.
Massive.

Me, I sell Electrical materials.
And I wish to talk about electricity safety.

Let's talk about Distribution boards:

I have noticed that most users are willing to buy original, but, most electricians lack the knowledge on how to find out original DBs (Distribution boards). I am here to guide you.

Some say as long as it is white stabluc, it is original.
Sometimes, for the fear of losing the job, they write cheaper articles so the client can consider their own quotations and thereby hiring them.

The main function of a Distribution boards is to:

A) Allow changes of flow
B) Complete or break a circuit
C) Make the bulb glow easily
D) Prevent electric shocks.

However, alot of these DBs in the mkt lack these qualities.
While some of these functions are not easily detectable, others, you need to fix the board and use it for awhile to be able to verify those other functions.

Also, I noticed that those that do handwork usually look for materials that will be easy for them to apply and not necessarily considering durability and beauty.
Any DB who's switch or stabluc cannot trip off at any shock is not a good one.

When buying, apart from looking out for those that has the ability to break or trip, also check the guage of the panel. The panel is what absorbs the current and allow it pass.
If the panel is light guage, less than 2mm, it may not be able to stand the pressure if the house is loaded, after some time or years.
Also, the guage MUST BE COPPER, not copper colour.
Also, you will need to look out for DBs with trippable fuses. Unfortunately I tried to upload some pictures, but it's not uploading.

Finally, it must not be one that's generally known. Most DBs that are generally known are unnecessarily expensive.
But, if you can afford it, pls buy them.
Good articles are not cheap.
Cheap articles are not cheap.

Beware.

Good evening Sir,

So what's your review on Smart England DB?

Well done Sir.

Good morning sir, the best thing is to separate solar inverter DB from raw power sir... Get a single phase DB for it. Also, if your electrician can determine the number circuit going into the inverter DB, we have 4-way, 6-way, 8way, 12-way

Also, for the pipe, your project is within the Western area you can go for original dignity pipe.. But if you are eastern or northern part., you can go for niger pipe

Ok Sir,

I already made up my mind to get an extra DB for the Solar Inverter like you suggested.

The dilemma now is that even if I have the funds to purchase the best quality of pipe, the electrician is insisting I should get the cheaper low quality pipe, his reason is that the pipe will just go into the wall and is only a conduit for quality wire which I will later purchase. What's your opinion Sir?

Good evening Sir,

Still on this very important information you gave me years ago, please do I need to get a separate distribution board for the solar Inverter?, the cost is not an issue but I just want to know if it is necessary to get a different distribution board for solar Inverter in addition to the one already installed for normal electricity.

Also, is there any preferred quality of 20mm or 25mm PVC pipe to use, as I was told that any one will serve.

Thank you Sir.

For which material sir ?,
Imported or thick imported or tower materials
And also 5mm glass or 4mm, those are the factors to consider before giving quotes sir,

The picture below is imported materials with burglaries and nets 5mm black glass,

So let know what exactly u want so dat I can give u quote for it thanks,

Good evening All,

Please is there any special brand of pipe that can be used for conduit piping for electrical wires?

I was told that the type of pipe doesn't matter so far the quality of wire is the best.

I was also told that tiger brand is the best but someone told me that any type or brand of pipe can do the job that I should focus on the quality of wire instead.

I await your response.

go and buy elsewhere. It's one thing for things to be expensive, don't add attitude to it biko.

The attitude may be because the demand is still there despite the price increase. But All is well.

These are the screws used to hold my heavy glass shower doors.

The length is barely long enough to penetrate past the tile. It should go well into the plastering. It’s also made from poor materials that are already rusting in about a year.

I’ll be going ahead to reinstall all the screw. Also using four screws per hinge as it should be.

If you have glass shower doors please be careful.

Compliments of the Season Sir,

Kindly go for Stainless Screws 6mm or 8mm and the accompanying Fisher plugs (Red or White).

The Screws should be Stainless so they can be resistant to rust and Caustic soda.

Well done.

In my opinion.
This quote is OK...

Negotiate or ask for discount and pay him to do the work.

Whatever you do, don't buy the materials yourself... You might end up regretting that. I said MIGHT.

Goodluck

Ok Sir, I will negotiate to see if there may be a slight reduction.

** Sum up …,
That’s what I meant.

You are welcome sir.

Ordinarily, when you go and buy the windows, without them installing it for you they have added profit element to it. They can’t sell it to you at cost. If they now add labour to it, assuming they are installing for you, it means they will make profit on materials and on labour.

That's a good one you just pointed out Sir. Thank you once again.

Oga.

I am not an aluminum person o but let him break down what he will use to make each window.

Go to market ahead and do a preliminary study of costs of materials.

Measure each window together with him and do the recordings. Some up all that would be needed.
Go to market and buy them yourself. Give them to him to use while you monitor it. Just build in like 7% waste into the aluminum material. Waste in other materials may not the up to that or could above that. Max 10% across board.

You see those artisans, they are ev.il.
They pad anything padable.

You would be surprised it will take you half of what he quoted.

Good idea. I will act on it this weekend. Thank you Sir.
