Nnamdi Kanu Has Done More Damage To Nigeria Than Boko Haram, Bandits, Abacha, Others—Northern Youths The leader of the Arewa Youths Consultative Forum (AYCF), Yerima Shettima has said the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu should not be released. According to him, Kanu must face the wrath of the law for his alleged atrocities against the Nigerian state. Shettima said Kanu has committed more atrocious damage to the country than any person or group since after the Nigerian Civil War that lasted 30 months. After the civil war, Nigeria has had the misfortune of having military dictators including retired Gen. Ibrahim Babangida and the late Gen. Sani Abacha. The country has also been terrorised by Boko Haram, ISWAP and more recently bandits, who have killed thousands of people and displaced millions of others. But according to Shettima, releasing Kanu will further compound the security challenges in the country and adversely affect President Muhammadu Buhari’s government. The Northern group leader made these remarks following Buhari’s promise to consider releasing the IPOB leader following a visit by some Igbo leaders to the Presidential Villa in Abuja. Buhari had made the remarks during a meeting with some South-East leaders under the aegis of Highly Respected Igbo Greats, led by First Republic parliamentarian and Minister of Aviation, Chief Mbazulike Amaechi at the State House, Abuja. Amaechi pleaded with the president to release Kanu, rather than opt for a military option. But, Shettima stressed that Kanu’s release would undermine what he has done to Nigeria as the IPOB leader. Shetitima’s submission suggests that the abortion of democracy, clampdown on the press and civil rights societies, and killing of pro-democracy figures by the Abacha regime along with activities of terrorist groups were milder compared to Kanu’s call for self-determination for the South-East people. There have also been deadly attacks on farmers and communities by suspected herders and bandits. “There is the possibility of undermining the consequences of what this man (Nnamdi Kanu) did to the country and by implication, if he is allowed to go unpunished, it would be sending the wrong message. Nobody in the history of this country has done more damage to this country since the civil war than this young man." Shettima told DailyPost. “If at the end of the day, they allow him to go unpunished after what he has done, the implication is that nobody will ever commit any offence of this nature and be punished because everybody will always refer to him. “And this means that the constitution is automatically suspended in the country. This means that some people can just commit any crime at the expense of over 200 million Nigerians and get away with it. Somebody can kill, pronounce killing and still get away with it; then what is the essence of condemning people to death for killing, murder when compared to what this man (Kanu) did? “This is just a way of undermining the laws of our land, and indirectly they are saying the government of the day can be easily influenced. This means somebody can commit any offence and then come to Buhari or any other government after this and seek forgiveness.” The AYCF National President also described Kanu as not remorseful for his actions. He added, “This man is not even remorseful, indirectly, it’s like the government is begging him to continue with what he’s doing, and he would go unpunished. “The consequence is that, if he is allowed to go unpunished, we would end up having millions of Kanu rising, even, if he decides not to go ahead with further actions. “If he is allowed to go, he (Kanu) will come out boasting that he did not beg to be released. He is not remorseful and there is nothing to show he regrets his actions, and anybody can do such and get away with it; we are not in Banana Republic for God’s sake. “The law must take its full course and I hope it’s not what I’m thinking because nobody has done the kind of damage this man has done to this country; and up till date, we have not recovered from the consequences of what he has done to this country, we are watching. “If we allow him to go unpunished, then we are saying that the country should produce millions of him. Firstly, nobody even knows who Muhammad's real father was since he was born 4 years after the death of the man who is generally known as his father. Allah revealed Surah 53 to Muhammad up to and including vss. 19, 20. These two verses read: Have ye thought upon al-Lat and al-Uzza And Manat, the third, the other? Miracles are meant to establish a prophet's credentials. In other words, miracle is the prophet's CV. It is the ONLY way that Prophet's were able to convince people of the authenticity of their claim to prophethood. A call to prophethood is essentially and fundamentally a supernatural and heavenly one, so it must be accompanied by supernatural and heavenly signs to verify it, otherwise it is meaningless. “You are the God who performs miracles; you display your power among the peoples” (Psalm 77:14) A miracle is an unusual manifestation of God’s power in which He intervenes in human affairs. Miracles display God’s power, inspire wonder, and act as signs that prove who God is or substantiate His message to the world. A miracle is a supernatural event that reveals or confirms a specific divine message. They are not meant to convince EVERYONE of course, but they are meant to convince those whose hearts have been made ready by God which is the reason why Pharaoh and the Egyptians did not believe the miracles, but the majority of the people of Israel accepted them. The Disciples of Jesus witnessed his miracles, which was why they recorded them for posterity in the New Testament. As a general rule, the miracles of the Bible era were done in the presence of a multitude of credible witnesses—even hostile observers. When the Lord multiplied the loaves and fishes, possibly some ten thousand or more people were present (cf. John 6:10ff). Truly, the signs validating Christianity were not “done in a corner” (Acts 26:26). Bottomline, a REAL prophet called by God will be God's instrument for the manifestation of his authority over nature. He wouldn't be a failure who runs away and makes excuses when he is asked for a sign, even if the people who ask him are not worthy of being witnesses to heavenly signs. In stark contradiction to the Sunna/Hadith, the koran explicitly says that Muhammad was incapable of performing any miracles. In fact, whenever the unbelievers would ridicule Muhammad for failing to produce any miracles, Allah would send a "revelation" stating that miraculous works were not part of muhammad's ministry and that muhammad was just a "Warner" [img]https://images./4CgrpBK6kF1gkTQQW6AYFr.jpg[/img] When Muhammad's own people, the Quraish of Mecca (most of whom were Pagans), asked Muhammed for a miraculous sign as proof of his prophethood, he repeatedly told them that the only proof is the Quran. He told the people of Mecca that if the koran was not a miracle, they should produce a Surah (chapter) similar to any of the ones in the koran. As we can see, Allah and Muhammed are basically stating that Koranic revelations are by far superiour to anything a mere human can produce. Yet in the incident of the "Satanic Verses", Satan himself was able to compose inspired Koranic verses that were so compelling and convincing, that they FOOLED Muhammed himself! That, in itself, is an admission that Allah's revelations are NO better than something Satan can inspire. Now if that is the case, then the proof of "produce a surah like it" is extremely flimsy indeed. Here you have an example in the koran itself of Satan meeting the ONLY challenge Muhammed provided to authenticate his authority/prophethood. Allah and Muhammad laid down a challenge and Satan not only met that challenge, he met it so successfully that even Muhammad was 419ed into accepting it as the truth! It's appalling how bad standards are in public schools which is why parents will cough out exorbitant amounts of money to have their kids educated in private schools and even go the extra mile of paying for home tutoring after school hours. I'm not a forecaster of doom, but I'd say that the writer of that letter doesn't have a future in academia and the sooner he embraces his destiny as an okada rider, danfo driver or Baba Élèrán, the better for him. 2 Likes |
