How much of Nigeria's influence in ECOWAS and in Africa as a whole do you know?
How much impact ECOWAS does make on its members' fate, global politics or even African politics LOL?

Africa is still ran by foreign politics, ECOWAS is a western tool.

Lurker4Long:

Except there's not much difference between the UK(15) and US(20) on the Development Index.
Nigeria and SA, on the other hand, is a totally different matter, as the attached pic attests.

As for regional influence, I would think SA being the main trading partner for all her neighbours, plus the direct disbursements under the Southern African Customs Union, affords her some influence.
Compare Inequality adjusted HDI. Gap will be down. Nigeria and SA are much similar on other developing indicators.

And again, US is a global trader, India is an inter regional trader.
SA is a regional trader and Nigeria is nowhere.

Faithful007:

I get this page is about military but I wasn't really thinking about influence though.

I don't see any significant parallels between Nigeria and UK besides English. If any country were to be UK, it could be Mauritius (Again to a certain extent).
Mauritius is a special case, it's a small island country with no say.

Small island countries are dependent upon geopolitics for their situation and not on their own. They can extreme poor like Haiti or extreme rich like Singapore.
Faithful007:

I was looking at internal factors like this:

SA/US: Developed/diversified economy, Strong Democracy, Blue_red and Racial politics, Economic Inequality, Privatisation, Wokeness, Right to bear arms, etc.

NG/India: Developing economy, Population, Emmigration/Strong Diaspora, Convoluted politics, Religous and Tribal tension, Social Inequality, Vibrance, Pride/Quasi-patriotism, Worship of the elite etc.
Your comparisons are horribly factually incorrect in any context be it comparison between differences in Nig and IND vs SA and US or direct facts.

1. Gap between India and US of income is over 25 times. Levels of SA and Nigeria in development is similar and both are far far behind US or India.

2. SA is far from being a developed country. Except per capita income and few cities (because of white population), SA is abysmally behind India in all development indicators, innovation index, IHDI and so forth. And the way India is growing and SA economy is collapsing, India will thrice as rich as SA by end of this decade.

3. SA is a not a diverisfied economy. US and India are highly diversified industrial economies. Reference their industrial sectors, innovation index, USPTO rankings and economic complexity index.

4. Economic Inequality: SA (Gini 63.0) has most Inequality, much more than India (Gini 35.7) and US (Gini 39.4).

5. Private sector: India's private sector in a month produces more than what is SA's GDP. US is in a different league. India is world's largest pool of startups with a 100 unicorns (start ups crossing 1 billion dollars revenue) and world's third largest FDI receipent. SA's private sector here is not even nut sized.

5. Wokeness: India is the only stable democracy of world with no civil wars, military rule, same sex rights and again, woke movement too has much longer.

6. Right to bear arms: That's a sign of lawlessness if SA takes pride in it.

I do not have to talk about space, scientific research, nuclear & aviation.
Second one

1. Developing economy: Nigeria is a Developing economy, India is a newly industrialized country.

2. Strong Diaspora: Indian Diaspora is not comparable to Nigerian Diaspora. I will remain silent on what Indian Diaspora does in other countries vs what Nigerian Diaspora does or I will look like racist.

3. Every democracy has Convoluted politics. Difference is Nigerian politics has brought civil wars and military rules. Indian politics most long lasting democracy in developing world with only 6 prime ministers ruling country for most history, a western style industrial system, and a system which ranks in line with best democracies in world.

4. Religious and Tribal tension: I won't repeat again. In India, communities do not clash daily. What happens daily in Nigeria would be called civil war in India. Just compare rankings of two countries in fragile stated index.

5. Worship of elite: Utter bullshit coming from you.

There is a no similarity and every country is specific on its own. China, India are Southeast Asian countries and highly industrialized developing countries at levels of developed world and will replace them soon. You cannot compare those to Africa where basic first industrial revolution has not properly started.

Nigeria and South Africa share no similarity with them just because a disgruntled BBC employee loves to yell at India.

Something just struck my mind now yeah.

If Africa was the world, SA would be US while Nigeria would be India. Maybe not an exact juxtapose, but an interesting one albeit. Think about it.
Given the development parameters of SA, if SA would be US, Nigeria would be UK.

None of them in terms of politics can be called US or UK anyway. They don't have any influence in Africa like US has on globe. Nigeria & SA don't even have grip of their own regions like India has on its region.

India has tollywood, Punjabi film industry and dozens cinematography industries in different languages FYI. Bollywood is just largest of them.

grin Complete trash. Most Israeli PR reps are typical dense! The recognition of China over Taiwan as which is the REAL CHINA is SOLID!
No, but it is because CCP controls 99% of Chinese territory. That leaves no option for world.
Krismas:
It’s no gimmick. Infact it’s another example of America failed foreign policy. Attempt to foster on the world Taiwan as the real China. Even America itself DOES NOT BELIEVE SO ANYONE ATALL.
There is not much US could do in China during civil war in backyard of USSR. Soviet made fall of China to CCP inevitable. In fact, defending Taiwan and making it one of richest countries in world explains US capability to expedite and making strong forts under the nose of great powers in other corner of world. Recognition of PRC is a compulsion but won't be when Chinese economic meltdown or civil war begins again.
Krismas:
As for India recognition of Palestinian statehood. There is no room for double standard in such matters.
There is only national interest at play and not any standard in such matter.
1. India only got backstabbed by Islamic countries on Kashmir even after recognising Palestine. So, there was no meaning.

2. India is alternatively ruled by two parties. Current one backs Israel and is just yet to withdraw recognition of Palestine, a decades old policy.

India is a third country in Israel Palestine conflict and we do not need to support anyone like our own.
We can shift sides as per our needs as we do in US vs Russia, China vs Japan, DPRK vs ROK and so forth.

We are among largest partners of Israel, Turkey, Iran and Saudi, all of which are fierce enemies of each other. We are key trade partners of China and Japan, we are largest inventors in UK and EU after US and yet we have strong relations with Russia.

These are not our wars, we are here for trade and we do not need to pick any sides while trading. As long as they are paying us for what they wish to buy and sell us what we want, it is fine for us.
Krismas:

If u know the case very well. Recognition is recognition.
If you actually know the cases, recognition is nothing. India has given only recognition to both Palestine and Israel and literally everything to Israel. Just Google the level of Israeli collabs with US, EU, India, China, Russia and Japan.

Taiwan without recognition is semiconductor powerhouse of world and it's largest customer is China itself.
Krismas:
Earlier u said India did not support Russia? I wanted to know if u Indian! Cos u fake! There are so many ways to support. Indian was the first to buy S400 missile defense systems from Russia in the thick of the Ukraine war when Western sanctions forbade India to do so! Wot else is support?
That's where you display your uttet lack of competency of geopolitics. India buying Russian S400 was an Indian requirement just as India buying US avionics, trading with Europe, investing in Latin America and Africa or so forth. Buying Russian S400 is our own support and not anyone else.

We also have picked fights with USA, Europe, Russia and China on various matters.
US backs us in foreign affairs but hates our military industrial complex and indigenous companies, Russia backs us in military affairs but scams us after getting our funds for R&grin projects, China is our second largest trade partner, supports us on cultural forums and western media platforms but at war with us also, Europe is our largest trade partner but hates our foreign policy and our intellectual property and innovation & data security rules.

So, there is no support, only interests.
Krismas:
India almost got sanctioned for doing that.
India didn't get and India went ahead for it since India knew that US couldn't. India is only great power which is neither in Western nor in Russian side and everyone is trying to pull it.

Since anonymities with Russia and China begin, west gradually replaced Russia and China with Indian suppliers on many hardware. And now since Russia Ukraine war, India is the key aerospace and space partner also. It's a huge economic giant with fast ongoing expansions of military, technology and economic power.

And since India has so many options and partners around world now, any country sanctioning India will only hurt them more than India itself.

China in next 30 years will replace USA as most formidable force and only country which will be able to match due to its large economy and industrial capacity will be India. So, that is considered in calculations of government of India.

grin Stupid. Of course this is the western narrative. A horrible lie western governments would kill to foster on the world. That’s why b4 the American government blew up the World Trade Center in 2001, they scripted Arab jihadist hijacking planes and running it into the buildings. It turned out to be a very convincing story as they had anticipated. The issue in the conflict in Palestine is simply the illegal state of Israel stealing Palestinian lands to build settlements declared as ILLEGAL by the UN. It is not a coincidence that the UN has refused to acknowledge Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. Only a handful of sick countries do in this world. The matter is really that simple.
Source: TRUST ME BRO.

Islam has a characteristic of hating every non Muslim and entire world has been seing it for 8 centuries, much before 9/11. Iran, Egypt, India, Africa or Europe, Muslims are only loyal to their fairy tale book and hate human progress by default.

African Muslims added are too uneducated and churn out conspiracy theories faster than drugs.

As far as Israel's legitimacy is concerned, those "handful of sick countries" control 80-90% of land, population, trade and resources. So, 100 barnacles outnumbering 5 whales doesn't matter here.
Since most countries against Isreal you are talking about don't even matter to world.

So let’s see if it’s not revenge against some murderous Israeli settlers whose crime of arson and murder against Palestinians never make it to the news until they are attacked. That’s wen peeps like u broadcast only half of the story
What if you are not listening the other side of story since attacks on non Muslims by Muslims on daily life rarly get reported by media houses. It's an open secret around the world.

Israel Palestine conflict is not about human rights. It's only about Muslims hating non Muslims. Where they are powerful, they genocide and wipe out non Muslims just like they did with hundreds of religions and cultures in middle east.

Where their enemy is powerful like India in Kashmir or Israel in Palestine, they play victim card and call their enemy fascists. Their mode of operation is same like they did in Iran and they are trying in India, UK or France. Islam hates polytheism and Jews to core.

So no, Israel conflict is caused by nothing but an ideology who wishes that every non beliver burns in hell and advocate their merciless killing.

like I was saying. World powerful countries like Russia, China, India, Turkey etc now have interest in Africa because Africa is the future of the world. This is bigger than Britain as other Western countries will not allow Nigeria tilt to the Eastern world because they will be the biggest loosers. The world is being restructured power must be balanced, we can't have a full multi polar world if indegeneous people in Nigeria and Africa don't get real freedom. Nnamdi Kanu's mission is devine, when the time comes you will know why he created ESN, if you see the logo of ESN you will know it's designed to fight the dragon in Asia. If we don't get freedom then you too must go down, Nigeria wil drink your blood too
Nobody is not allowing Nigeria from tilting the East except Nigeria itself.

Leave alone competing in production, Nigeria isn't even destined to be a proper consumer economy despite huge population given its low ECI, will always make more poor against emerging economies.

Russia, China & India have stabilised population growth and high GDP growths what sometimes even takes their income growth in double digit. Nigeria meanwhile has a meagre growth and higher population growth which makes it poorer. Russia, China, India and Turkey are as industrialized as western world and actually replacing them in market through constant innovations and foraying into new sectors every year. Nigeria is a commodities based economy only relied on sources. In fact, Nigeria is nothing more than an oil rich version of Somalia.

No offence intended but nobody take Nigeria seriously or even talk about it. Leave alone Nigeria, even South Africa is looked down upon like a beaten player.

Asia today is lit with Asian great powers & other growing economies like Russia, China, India, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Iran, Thailand and North Korea. They are snatching away every sector from western world and they all are doing well in their own specialities. It's a spectacular revolution going in Eastern World (Asia) which is much bigger than what happened in Western world 3 centuries.

Asia is in entirely different league, in process to replace west as new power, money and technology centre of world and no country in Africa right stands even anywhere near against any Asian power.

It is not just about generating revenue to service his loans but the loan amount has ballooned exponentially due to currency float.
Adani's survival relies on growth of India's energy & infrastructure sector which is not going to fall unless India is hit by a earthquake of Richter 10 or a giant asteroid. Adani is too diversified and serves too large sectors to collapse.

What you said exactly was said by a couple of banks and rating companies few months back about Adani. What I remember that Adani stands still tall and all those were taken over or liquidated by debt.

Both Indian and Nigerian citizens are hardworking and put in work. We are at different stages of industrialisation and economic development, and geographical realities.

Solution of Indian problems never lied in west, solution of Nigerian problems don't lie in Indian methods. Nigeria's problems are Nigeria specific and should be solved in Nigerian way.

In my opinion, Nigeria first should cap it's population and try to pull out tribal populations into mainstreams. And then should stream into stepped industrialisation just like all major economies today which followed all 4 industrial revolutions at different timings.

Did India do it within 30-40 days?

Event: Modi announced in evening at 8 PM that Ruppee 1000 & 2000 banknotes aren't a legal tender anymore and gave time to citizens till 31st December for changing it through banks. It was a part of PM Modi's program against corruption (find out accumulated cash money by hoarders), countering fake Indian currency used by India's neighbors and pushing for cashless economy where everything happens online. People of India weren't upto it

Shopkeepers immediately stopped accepting that currency from buyers which led to catastrophe and long queues outside banks. Due to short supplies, banks only started to give Rs. 4000 cash at once due to supply problems. Faith of most hardcore Modi supporters was shaken in him.

Within next two years, Indian government ran digital India to provide more & more internet, planned Jan Dhan for more & more bank accounts for people in remote areas and developed an advanced online payments system called Unified Payments Interface (UPI).

People started to switch to more online transactions, share of cash dropped greatly in India's economy and gradually became world's largest country in terms of cashless trades. Till 2018, economy had completely recovered from 2016 shocks and industrialisation in country had begun amid boycott China movement around world which gave Modi a bigger election victory in 2019 than he had in 2014.

Corona era further encouraged cashless system, government gradually introduced from essential documents to COVID certificates and things online.

Basically, this was seen bad when happened but now Modi proudly boasts his strong decisions due back to back success. People don't care about it anymore as Modi's new promises are more about competition with Western world, China and Russia in terms of military power, economy and technology. India due to its massive size inevitably will become a superpower one day, will be stronger every year and Modi will get more and more votes in name of it.

No....
The whole NATO and their allies of over 35 countries including the Giants (USA, UK, Germany and France) has been shown the Russians are far superior and powerful than they assumed.... The Ruble is the best-performing currency of the decade.

My takeaway from this is that, no one can stop you if you're ready to be successful at any cost.

I hope the war end soon, but it seems it will only get worse and worse till there's no longer a country called Ukraine.... By then Russia will be like North Korea, they will be completely avoided.
Off course Russia is a dying power. In 10 years, they will weak militarily as UK. Now is their best time and they are using it right now. So laughs on west.
pol23:

I believe the only way to deal with Russia is to win his allies over, China and India...: without that, the sanction won't have a strong effect.
West can't win over China and India. Both these countries have and produce endless human resources and industrial equipment which can exhaust western powers even leading to western territories getting conquered by them. In fact, west itself runs on production of China and India and can't do without these two countries.

Total national power = Income x population. That is why in year 1950 itself, world was always vary of China & India when they were far poorer than US & Russia. Coz when these two will reach normal economic levels, they will be too powerful to be messed up by richest western countries. That time has already arrived in 2010s. In next 30 years of 21st century, China and India will replace current world powers just like US & Soviet did in 20th century.

In India, demonetization ended counterfeit currencies being smuggled from mafia of neighboring countries.

It also permanently pushed a large chunk into online transactions. Indian government thereafter opened Jan Dhan accounts and launched Unified Payments Interface (UPI); an Indian competitor to Google Pay and RuPay card (Indian challenger to Mastercard and Visa).
Since then, 68% of Indian transactions happen bank to bank online.

India never came back to cash levels of 2016 since then as online payments became new normal.

igbesachick:
poverty line of nigeria is 3 dollars per day, poverty line of india is 80 rupees per day
This data was using $1.9 dollars both countries you idiot. At $1.9/day, India has 3%, at $3 a day, India has 20%, at $5 a day, India has 65%.
Nigeria has 42% at $1.9 itself.
igbesachick:

america also has 12 percent population under its poverty line, which is 120 dollars per day.
No, rhat's only $13 a day a you dumbo.
igbesachick:
you are a perfect international clown and fun provider, Mr. india.
Just your photo and snatch my title you asshole LOL. I've seen your photo, you look like a grey alien with your blood vacuumed out.

india, under Modi administration, 2014, 2 T, 2021, 3.1T. growth rate 55 percent.
India was 1.7 T in 2014 and 3.5T in 2022.

And unlike China, India grew with currency depreciation and low inflation rate. So real growth went beyond 3 times.

but I’d rather stay here than move to India.
I welcome that. It makes much more sense to stay in US or Canada where you can earn much more than India. In India, you might earn double/triple of Nigeria for doing same job, but in US, you will get 5-8 times.

Indians are not very fond of foreigners either except neighbouring countries who essentially just look like Indians.
iLoveYouToo:
India is a 3rd world country that’s only developing on paper.
A 3rd world country is who didn't align with either of West or East bloc during cold war. Yugoslavia, India, Nigeria, Vietnam and Indonesia, all are third world countries despite stark differences in levels of development.

India's progress has translated into poverty reduction, education, digitisation, faster urbanisation, advanced industries and so forth which is visible in India's business, economy, exports, consumption, technology and industry and not just paper.

As told before, you can't compare countries like India, Philippines, Indonesia and Vietnam etc. with "other third world" like Nigeria/Pakistan/Ghana etc.. India/Vietnam have stopped being destined to remain lower middle long ago and are entering upper middle group.
iLoveYouToo:
A very large portion of its population remains ‘rural’ and live in poverty, just like Nigeria
That is a flawed assumption. India has stabilised 2.1 replacement rate (equal to developed world) against world's fastest growing population of Nigeria.
Stages of development of a country start from agriculture to proto industry, heavy industry, tertiary sector and critical industries in which you can compare India with any third world country and see where it stands.

Gabon has a higher urbanisation rate than US & Canada but you can't compare their cities to water's villages.

Indian villages (except tribal areas of eastern part) AFAIK are well developed than Nigerian cities.

First reason being Indians mostly were a settled society for many centuries making towns and villages at one place while Africans were mostly tribes.
Second reason being India "defines" difference in a city & village in terms of municipal connectivity and not population density what western and African countries do. 90-95% of existing Nigerian population will become rural if Indian definition is used.

India does have modern industrial sectors, launches spacecraft, builds aircraft & warships, software while Nigeria strictly is all about primary sectors/agriculture besides its natural gift of petroleum. India's per capita income grows at 7% annually, Nigeria's population grows faster than economy. Both cases clearly are not comparable.

BY LARGE, you just can't compare Asia pacific countries to African ones. They are more like low income versions of Europe.
