Little civil conflicts don't translate into civil wars. Every country can have riots and insurgencies in peacetime.

Those were pretty old movies. Even Indians have opened up a lot to sex. As older generation dies, little left conservativeness about sex also will collapse.

If JFT was a modern plane, China too would have inducted in. But it has better options to go for. JFT is a variant of Chinese J-7.

Compare the specifictions and avionics utilized in aircrafts rather than copy pasting statements by fanboys as it is.

The JF-17 is a capable light weight aircraft. It's in the same class as the Gripen C/D. It also fills the same gap of being an affordable modern air asset.

It's a variant of J-7. An affordable and not actually capable among other aircrafts of its class. But you can't get a better in just $20 millions.

India had two projects in running, one was HF-73 and other was about a light advanced aircraft after retiring HF-24 Marut. As West & China were working on next generation planes, air force elevated its requirements.

HF-73 was canceled to obtain Jaguars from Britain (and skip its development time) and to start LCA altogether. If India took 30 years develop Tejas that was because its requirements kept on changing in every 4-5 years. Radars, engines, pods, net centric warfare and so on. That didn't mean that India couldn't make less complex planes if it wanted to in 90s.

For JF-17, compare its airframe design and physical specificational capabilities with those of IOC of early Tejas (not to compare far superior FOC). The kind of missiles, radars and so on it utilitizes were made to reduce cost so that they can be inducted numbers with low budget.

You want any more reason? China itself doesn't use JF-17. It's a low cost one for poor nations.

Reason being India. Air Force had doubled its strength between 1990 and 2010 while defense budget close to triple between 2009 and 2018.

Next decade will be a revolution for Indian aviation sector once India operationalizes most of its systems and puts them in production.

We aren't going to catch up anytime soon. Not in near future because US still has lead in so many sectors even if their economy is surpassed by China. But China will become world's most formidable geopolitical forced in next 50 years. It is inevitable.

We are just trying to become a key Player like Russia to protect our interests on our own. If we are able to match or surpass US economy in next 30 years even if not catch up with China, we will surely emerge as a new pole and can hope to replace China by end of century.

All India has to do is to avoid an economic stagnation for next 3-4 decades.

We don't in my knowledge and won't have anytime soon. Rudra uses French engine and hence sales need French approval also.

France' helo market & production is much bigger in Africa and isn't stupid enough to kill it by licensing India. We are developing our own engine called HTSE-1200 to replace French engines. Few more years to follow.

BTW, HAL LCH is much better gunship than Rudra.

We wouldn't have been able to conduct so many other things with global powers and would be totally busy in neighborhood. We gained the complete dominance in Indian Ocean after that.

If India would have been successful in completely disintegrating Pakistan, India could make wonders into middle east, Central Asia along with Eastern Indian Ocean. A lot of wars like Afghan civil war, Iraq war and other things could be avoided then India would have been competing with US & Russia for dominance. China wouldn't have rosen to this position as India would have replaced them in Central Asian route while blocking them (Currently Pakistan separates India from Central and West Asia).
