So that means the VOs dont actually type in only first word then. Good idea! I'll attach a screenshot of the search to my application, highlighting that his business name was misspelt or somtyn. We hope it ends well

hmmmmm @Jewel80, this sounds like a good idea. I just checked my company name now and realized that they spaced the two names out.
Initially, when i checked i didn't see it and kept typing the name in different ways before I saw my name and realized that there is a space in-between.

So i will do the screenshot for them in advance and add to my application. grin

I can't shout.

It will end in praise.

There is a tab for ' digital photo' on the online profile. Click on it to upload photo.

For signing, just fill out all forms and upload. At the end of all uploads, you will be prompted to accept that all information have been correctly and truthfully answered. You will also input your name. This is how online application forms are signed. At the point of submission.

@Austinpee4,

Thanks a bunch.

Hello Nairalanders,

For the Digital photo we are meant to upload, are we supposed to paste on word or PDF or just upload like that as a picture?
I am submitting via the online route.

Also for the signature for the CIC forms, can we use an e-signature instead of printing and signing?

Please advise.

@goingforward, you will have to present your original passport during biometrics. You can call or send a mail to VFS for clarification. I think they also place the bio-data page on a machine to determine if it’s authentic.

Hi @Newman, @Phocusjosh,

Okay, thanks for the info. I will aim to submit and get my biometrics sorted first before proceeding. From what i have read here, i understand that biometrics is done within 2-3days of submission right.?

Thanks soo much
Yes i included their birth certificates with their last term school result
Have never travelled before
I heard travel history wont be an issue if my SOP is strong
Please what do you advice i do to address that part
Can i explain have been tired down with work abd have not had the time to travel and just decided to further my studies
Please help me out on that
Because i intend applying once i get my notes
Am to resume in september

Hello @BoystoMen,

I think you should address travel history. Yes, you are right about the fact that travel history is not a problem as many have gotten study permits and TRV's with zero travel history.

But since it was flagged, if I were to play the devil's advocate as a VO, maybe they may be thinking that you are very comfortable, with so much money in your account you are a middle or high-class elite as you and your hubby is doing very well.

Then if that is the case, why have you not traveled out of Nigeria before for maybe work or a vacation?

Now you are considering traveling, why is Canada the first place you choose to go to? why not another country? Why can't you do an MBA here in Nigeria?

So addressing these areas in your SOP and may stating that your job hasn't required you to travel or maybe you have been tied down with work bla bla bla will convince the VO in your reapplication. This will also clarify the purpose of study.

Add this, look at your notes once it arrives, add other suggestions from other people here and you will be fine.

I wish you success.

I got a school for them and attach the mail correspondent with the school administrator and attached the waitlist form i submitted to the school

I submitted on the 4th of april and refused last week
Please what else should i work on?

Hi BoystoMen,

In addition to what Frankrobbn1 said,

Just to ask, have you traveled anywhere else outside of Nigeria before?
Did you include birth certificate of your children?
An SOP would have addressed and explained the reasons which may have led to the refusal, like explaining why the program why now, why canada?

Because i think from the POF you are in good standing.

My thoughts.

Hello great people!
Please what is the best approach to tackle previous denial on funds.

I am self sponsored and I have been working for the past 10- years. I was denied last year September on insufficient funds(GCMS notes reveals "recent lumb sum deposits from unknown origin"wink. The money was invested in treasury bills and fixed deposit and was liquidated into my account prior to printing my statements to ensure the funds are available and accessible for my studies.

I want to re-apply again this fall but this time, I avoided re-investing the money into fixed tenor investment to avoid liquidation into my account at maturity prior to my application. How best can I convince the VO to believe the funds is mine because sincerely it is mine. It is also very frustrating living money in accounts without interest when I could have made fortune from investment.

My total tuition in Windsor is C$ 27,500 and I have deposited about C$ 18,000 and I have over $9000 in my Dom Account including more than enough funds in my salary account.

I am also married with a daughter but my wife is not accompanying me to Canada now because of her work.

Hello @edosunday1,

I also have a suggestion for you.
I think its best to satisfy the VO's concern regarding the source of funds.

Since you state that the funds were liquidated from money invested in treasury bills and fixed deposit, why not get the portfolio statement from your bank and a letter of reference for the liquidated funds. ( The bank will willingly give this to you).

This will go a long way in proofing the source of funds.

In my own case, ( even though I am yet to submit), i am not liquidating my investments yet, but I have a letter from the bank with the details of my investment and also stating that it can be liquidated at any time by me. I also have a bank reference letter to back this up.

This should help.

You should choose 'Visit' on the form for them as they will be accompanying you. A visiting visa will be issued to them once your study permit is approved and all conditions for granting their visiting visas will be subject to your student permit and conditions.

Also, you will be able to change the conditions of their visiting visas once you have registered them in school when you arrive. You do not need to choose 'study' as their trip to Canada will be on the basis of your study permit and IRCC has identified this as 'accompanying minor' and if they are not citizens of a country with Visa-exempt to Canada, a visiting visa foil will be issued to enable them accompany you.

IRCC will change the conditions of their 'visiting' visa once you have enrolled them in school to enable them stay longer(on the condition that they MUST be schooling). Good news is that they are both of school age and will be compelled by law to school for free in a federal government or provincial government own schools. This will make things easier once you land.

Regards.

Hi @Austinpee4,

Thanks for your response. Someone referred me to also check online just to be double sure and i checked. I came across this link below on CIC website.

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/corporate/publications-manuals/operational-bulletins-manuals/temporary-residents/study-permits/guidelines-on-minor-children.html

Below reveals that minors applying from outside Canada should apply for a study permit.

Hi Nairalanders,

My second time posting this, can someone help with answer this below:

I decided to go the online route.

Please for the online application form for my kids, do I have to choose ''studying'' or choose ''visit.''
My kids will be staying with me.

I noticed that what i chose to study it generates a ''study permit application form.'' My kids are 5 & 6. I am not also sure what to fill in the school name and other details.

My question is do i say they are studying or do I choose ''visit?''

If I choose ''study'' it is asking me questions about their school etc.

Please help. what do i choose and fill?

Can somoene who has filled an online study application for kids advise me, please?

This confirms that LICO states ''The Minimum Necessary Income for Sponsorships''

Austinpee4:

I really do not know why this 'LICO' thing is becoming a thing of worry.

Like i mentioned in my earlier post, LICO(Low income cut-off) is used for individuals who are working(on a work permit, A PR or a Canadian citizen) and seeking to sponsor a spouse, dependant(s), parent(s) or grand parent(s) to move to Canada. It is NOT applicable to a Study permit or the Spouse open work permit. The reason is simple, the student is NOT sponsoring but adding a spouse as a dependant to his/her study permit application to allow the spouse be in Canada during the duration of the study visa.

If you check the figures required for 'LICO', It is strictly for individuals who have full working rights in Canada. Students do not, its part time and in some cases, some are not even eligible to work both on or off campus depending on their circumstance. Also, those figures of 'LICO' must be earned in Canada.

@Jimmychuks2018, what you saw, written or interpreted on your GCMS file most likely is your income in Nigeria to compel your return after your wife's study duration. The officer weighed your ' income level' and was not satisfied that it is strong enough to compel you to return with your wife after her study and that is why it was raised. You are a dependant on your wife as a PA(student) and either you or her need to only show 4,000CAD for you and additional 3,000CAD for a minor as additional funds. You must also statisfy the officer that you would leave alongside your wife. Your ties(income, family, etc)must be strong enough because you are expected to return to them. This is the requirement of IRCC for a study permit holder(your wife) and an applicant of a SOWP(you).

'LICO' requirements are Strictly for SPONSORSHIP. The sponsor must earn the minimum income in Canada to be able to sponsor. Your wife is NOT sponsoring you but adding you to her study conditions even though the SOWP allows the holder to work without time and employers restrictions.

Regards.

Ahhhhhh, Thank you @Austinpee4 for clarifying this!

Well appreciated.

Please help clarify.

I thought living expenses was as per stated by CIC.

goingforward,

Well said!!! I can see you have some relevant experience here. Well at the first instance, I never cared to calculate the figure whether it's up 20M or not, but I know fully that 10M won't be enough for a family of five in Canada considering the expenses, flight tickets etc.. He may risk his application of being refused based on insufficient funds. To be on a safe side, the figure might not be up to 20M it's just to show his financial establishment. A bank statement of 15M will be his best sell here and once acquired his TRV, then his wife can apply through SOWP.

@Frankrobbn1,

Well someone here advised that its important for each person to do research on your own as well, even though that you may also seek to advise here, so i have been doing some extensive research about the entire Canada study process.

Still, No man is an island. In the multitude of counsel, there is safety.

The figures shortlisted by you from cic webpage is correct. But you should also put into consideration if his kids will be enrolled into a creche or primary school over there in Canada, which requires a huge sum of money. Therefore, showing additional funds for just 4KCAD for adult dependant and 3KCAD for children won't be sufficient considering his tuition fees from NCC, flight tickets for a family of five. Presenting 10M here will not fly here.

Hi Frankrobbn1,

Sure there are other miscellaneous, however, education is free for kids up till 18years.
I think even at that it would not be up to 20million. ( i am assuming that Oka's kids are not up to 18 yet). I know people who did this and got it without having up to that.

I think that Okka should asides from the stipulated amount from CIC make provision for the following:

Return Ticket for a family of 5 *
Miscellaneous during the study (maybe 5k or 10kCAD)

Use CIC as a guide and add some miscellaneous. ( So that they know that you are taking your family into consideration)

Also is your spouse applying for SOWP or Visit, that again is another consideration. ( if your spouse would be working, then they would be supporting financially, CIC will consider this).

These are just my thoughts.

okka,

Your processing agency is correct! 20M is the ideal amount of money to cater for a family of five that's if you plan traveling along with them. Presenting 10M won't fly here unless you don't plan to travel with your family at once.
But I'll advise you apply alone, while your family can join you once you've acquired your TRV, think about it okay.

I am a bit confused with your response and i disagree.

For a family of 5 for 1 year living expenses is 10kCAD (for primary applicant) + 4kCAD for 1 (adult dependent) and three children 3kCAD each

This sums up to 23kCAD

In naira its about 6.5million. (1year living expenses)

Please, how did you arrive at 20million
