Hello guys I sincerely think we should stop misleading people on this platform. If you don't know the reason for the Biometric update today and you don't believe the attachment from CIC website then keep quiet and accept it as general update.

I just tire....like some people are aimed at giving somebody high blood pressure.

Update of completed to we do not need your fingerprint means that your actual background check just started. U still have a long way in your application

You are kidding right? because this is my 7th week since my application submission.

But this new change only started today and does not apply to him. Has he done the biometrics without CIC requesting the outstanding balance? I would be surprised if they allowed him to be fingerprinted without getting their money. Prior to today, everytime you apply you have to pay and be fingerprinted again every time you apply.

I also suspect that awaiting this change & update on the new biometric rule may also be part of the reason our application seems to be taking long for June online applicants.

Ultimately, no one should even try to send any mail before the 9weeks is complete. If you ask me, i would even say you give it one more week, say 10weeks, that's if you are patient enough. It kind of shows you are not desperate and your life is not on "pause mode" even though we know it might be. But asking that something is updated even when it's not 9weeks is pretty ridiculous. They may not even need it, I think Frank or someone got approved without a medical request on this platform. So you never know...

I understand it's quite tiring, but we really do not have a choice.

All the best guys!

Thanks @Frankrobbn and @@Jnyuwa02 for your contributions.

By the 3rd week of August, my application would be 9 weeks.
I am praying for an approval before then.

My God is able. But if by then if I have not heard from them, then I will send an email.

The only form i filled was imm5456e (family form) and i ticked that they will be accompanying me.

If you intended to apply for study for your children you are supposed to have filled the

IMM1294e - Application for a study permit made outside of Canada.

IMM5257b- Schedule 1 - Application for Temporary residence

for each of your children.

You would also see a section for optional and supporting documents to be uploaded for them.

@goingforward thanks a lot for your response. I actually filled the questionnaire but still surprised I did not see any of these in the questionnaire. In fact my husband went through my answers before I submitted. I was shocked to see I had only two forms to fill imm5456e and imm1294e. And on the 5456e form I'm ticked that my children will be accompanying me. I'm still shocked. But going forward what should I do next? Pls help me

Have you submitted already? what forms did u fill for your kids?

Pls house help its urgent.

Hi @Litterbug, have you submitted yours already? I think I responded some time ago when you asked this and said that from the questionnaire you filled at the beginning you would have been asked if a child is accompanying you, It is at that point that you state whether you are applying for visitor study visas for them. Once you tick either of these two then upon submitting this questionnaire it would automatically create a profile for them in your own application where you would be asked to fill their own forms, all in your own application. ( a family application).

Did you see this option while you filled the online application questionnaire?
The answers you have filled would and submitted will determine the application forms specific to the questions you have answered as per how many people will be accompanying you to Canada. The questions further even askes whether you would be applying for visitor study for them. Your answer to this determines whether you will see a study application form which you will fill or a visit application form.

These forms are generated once you have answered all the questions in the questionnaire and clicked submit. The aim here is that people apply for different purposes, study or visit or work permit, with spouse, with or without children etc. So the goal is for you to have the specific forms that apply to your application hence the need for you to fill the questionnaire first.

So if you tick two people or two children, then the form generates two additional forms for the two family members. ( whether it's your spouse or children as many as you have ticked).

All this must have been done at the very beginning. Filling this questionnaire is the first step of your online application.

I think he should. It will bring their attention to the matter and in fact his application. Rather than a medical request, he will get a medical passed.

Hello Nairalanders,

I was thinking that one has to wait till 9weeks has passed then if you havn't gotten any feedback you can send an email to CIC.
My submission was done on 14th June my biometrics on 18th June. Its five weeks plus. I did medical upfront. Since then nothing yet.

Is it wise to enquire yet or simply just wait. angry

Both paper routes. One applied 20th and the other 22nd.

So maybe this confirms that the backlog is with the online applications then, they seem to be processed slower.

Please I need your help I mistakenly sent(validated my online application by ticking that I haven’t made any visa application to any embassy before whereas I have applied for US Embassy a year ago.. But I have met every requirement for the Canadian study permit.i have laid part of my school fee to the school. I have had my biometrics today too. Please someone should help me on this. Will I be denied as a result of that mistake?

@sopho,

Only God can help you. My advice is that if you did this mistakenly. You may send an email or notify them but bear in mind that it may also complicate matters as the VO may think that you are trying to cover up by explaining.

If I were to lend my two cents, simply take it to God in prayers. God rules in the affairs of man.

On my TRV, it is clearly indicated that it's a Student Visa. So yes, a separate Student Visa exists and I think you'll still be asked to submit your passport.

Hi goingforward,

Once your study permit is approved, a visa foil will still be issued to you irrespective of the valid visiting visa you have. This is to help officers at the point of entry identify your purpose in Canada on arrival and subsequently issue you with the right document(s) for your stay. The category of visa is clearly written on the visa foil. So upon arrival, the officer would ask what you are in Canada for, once you say studying, the expect to see a visa issued for your study permit on your passport. Same as visiting, if you say visiting, your visiting visa must be valid too as well as other requirements for a visit.

So in summary, each visa is issued for a purpose and will be clearly written on the foil. Your answers to questions at the POE will determine the one the officer will check at the POE for validity and for issuance of appropriate documents. The only exceptional case is a PR approval. All other previously issued TRV will be cancelled.

Hope this is clear enough.

Regards.

Hi @Austinpee4,

Thanks for your response.
Will the visitor's visa be canceled while the student visa is issued or the student visa will be issued in addition?
Has anyone experienced this?

Thanks

goingforward.
Travel / Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 14 by goingforward: 7:24am On Jul 13, 2018
Austinpee4:

The visa on your passport is NOT your study permit. It is a TRV to enable you travel to and fro Canada. Your Study permit will be issued to you at the port of entry(Airport). The study program length and your passport expiration will determine the length of the study permit to be issued at the point of entry. So the one year visa on your passport is to enable you travel in and out of Canada within one year(believing yours is the multiple entry visa). If you intend to travel after the expiration of the one year visa, you will have to renew you visa from inside Canada same as your study permit if you for whatsoever reason need to extend your study beyond the validity of your study permit. There is nothing to worry over.

Regards.

Hello @Austinpee4,

Thanks for this information. Please, I would like to ask, does it mean that if one already has a valid visitor TRV, upon approval of study visa application, passport request would not be requested for stamping ( since one already has a visa) only approval would be given and then when i travel i get my study permit at the point of entry?

Or is it that a special student visa for Canada exists, in this case, they will call for passports and reissue a particular student visa?

Please shed more light on this for me. Other nairalanders who have this information can also share please.

Thanks

@bisimo, take note that you can only apply for study permit for your children if they are 5yrs and above, otherwise you apply for visitor's visa for your child since the child is under 5

Yes that's true. Thanks for the correction. Visitors visa is what you will apply for.

Thanks. Pls I don’t understand how u mean I should apply for her as well? U mean I should find school for her to gain admission? She’s 3 year old and she don’t need study visa now. Was thinking maybe I can just include her name that she’s going with me. pls explain more how to go about this

God bless you for your wonderful help.

@bisimo, At the beginning of your application, you will need to fill out the questionnaire, while you are at it you will indicate that you are applying with a family member. Then it would prompt you a question whether you are applying for visit or Study. Choose study.

As @mcobex already said you will then fill out her own separate form for study for her..
Add your own schl admission letter and other admission information, you can also get creches/daycare online around the neighborhood of your school, write to them and attach their feedback or email trail to show the VO that you have made adequate plans for your 3year old.

Please do not leave your daughter behind. She is very little. ( i have a 5 & 6-year-old) and i applied for study for both of them and visit for my spouse. I cannot even imagine leaving them behind ( most esp my children) because I wanna step out to study.

How would I even concentrate on my studies sef?? undecided

I beg to differ that, visa officers are human beings and know the value of children staying with their parents at a young and tender age.
Just my thoughts.

One more thing i did was get a study leave letter from their schl and got the schl to help also emphasize in the letter, that my children are still too young to be separated from their mother. You may also do this.
