Okay you opened profile (cic account) separate for ur kids ND spouse?

@dewandow, by the time you answer the questionnaire at the beginning of your study application. ( you would answer the question are you coming with your kids if yes how many kids? Are u coming with your spouse etc). When you finish answering those questions then your application forms would load.

Then you would see it as a family application with ( 1 main applicant, 1 spouse, 1 kid etc)

You will then fill in your names as per the forms in your application.

Congrats and thank God for you but please how come you submitted so many documents. There are not many places in the online form to attach and submit many of the documents you listed. Or where these submitted physically?

All documents were uploaded online. I used ilovepdf.com to reduce and compress my file sizes.
It was stressful, I had to go back and forth reducing all docs before getting an okay quality with the 4mb size for each of the upload.

i also added some docs to my spouse and kids profile.

Congratulations forward...please clarify about that gcms notes part. Did they respond with PPR after you got the notes or just when you ordered ?

They responded to PPR for my spouse after i had sent an email stating that i had ordered my GCMS to know the situation of my application. After my spouse own came then we got approval for the family.
I sent this email 1 day after i had ordered. I ordered for it 1st week in November. My GCMS has not even come yet.

I Sent about 5 emails to them including CSC’s (received generic responses)
Then sent another email (sent it like 5 times that day) stating in it that I had ordered my GCMS to know what was going on on my application - 6th November 2018
Finally, Passport request for my spouse - 7th November 2018
Then Application Approved for the whole family – 7th November 2018
Counterfoil (Spouse)- 14th November 2018
Counterfoil (Myself and kids) – 15th November 2018

• A document providing explanation of Funds for my study. ( I provided a detailed analysis of my available funds and captured that on an excel sheet before transferring it to a word doc. I also stated sources of funds to fund my year 2 tuition and living expenses for myself and kids. ( A friend advised me to do this breakdown as this shows clarity and confidence before the VO that you have planned ahead and are able to cater for your program for year two also. She said this also helped her in her application, my friend has been in Canada for 2 years now, she also went on study visa)

If you are applying as a family with Children, upon passport submission we paid 11k for each child for ‘’passport Transmission.’’

Hello @Henkubert,

I will advice you to apply for your GCMS notes immediately. ( Infact you wouldn't have waitied this long before applying sef)
In addition, send them ( several) and emails and fill several CSC's stating that your application has been processed way beyond the processing time and also state in your email specifically that you have ordererd your GCMS notes to see for yourself the true situation of your appplication.

I did this and it worked for me. i got a response the next day. I also hope you are praying and trusting God.

If i can get it with my kids, why can't every other person give it a try if they have the funds?

My personal advice: subject to other opinions .Do your own and the baby first, and later that of your husband. Home tie must be seen to be so strong now. He can always apply later to accompany you with this reason you gave and any other cogent reason(s) as the case may be. Provisions are always available for children.

My personal advice is GO with your family ( at least with all your children), you can include your husband if you have enough funds to show.

Just make sure that you have the funds to show for living expenses and 1-year tuition.

From my observation, they are a bit lenient with mothers who are furthering their education, with their family. VO's are human beings. It may even be a female VO that will work on your file. VO's know how important it is for mothers to be with their children.

Simply convince the VO in your SOP that you will return with your family after studies.

Hi nairalanders, I am a silent reader. I got to know about this group 6weeks ago. I got approval for student visa this morning and want to share my story.
I graduated bachelors in technology in Aerospace engineering india on that 31th of may 2018. I graduated with first class with gpa of 9.4/10 (or 4.7/5 Nigerian equivalent). I got admission to do my master in aerospace engineering for fall 2018 at concordia university. I applied for my first Canadian visa with 6 weeks left on my indian student visa. (At that time the processing time in india have climbed to 7weeks). After 5 weeks I withdraw my application in order not to overstay my visa which will be a very bad thing for me and came back to nigeria. I defferd my admission to winter 2019 and applied for study permit in Nigeria paper route on Sep 17 ,2018. I started reading nairaland and boy O' boy i got freaking scared. After 5 weeks i got tired of all this and applied for fall 2019 intake at the best aerospace institute in france . This morning I got approval. Sidenote: I am not religious and the constant reliance on a supreme being to help your visa chances in this group got me a bit irritated. But I respect everyone's view and perspective.

Timeline:
Degree: masters in aerospace engineering
Submission date: 17 Sept 2018 with upfront medical and bio. ( I used the one I did in india for both medical and bio)
Submission type : paper route
Linked my application on the third day
Eligibility review started on the 22nd October.
Approval on 2nd November
Time taken 6 weeks and 4days

Please, just want to ask why your spouse didn't submit his application with urs and the kid(s).........What is the danger in applying together as I am about with my spouse and two kids.. The concern is how to convince the VO that the real intention is to study. Lucky not to have my details in express entry pool as I feel background check can extend to that pool to ascertain intention. Still expecting York to give me admission to their new masters in Supply Chains, otherwise I will go for PGD in Centennial or Humber.

It was submitted together as a family application, however his own is still in eligibility review/med passed.
while ours has been processed already.

If you read from page zero of this thread many seniors here have provided valid points on how to tackle writing a convincing SOP.
Maybe provide more information about your profile and sample SOP you have already written and post it here and myself and other gurus here can help read and add our 2cents.

It's not a good idea to also have a profile in the EE pool as you have already noted the reason in your post. ( it will show dual intent to study and remain in Canada afterward, hence defending that you will return will be difficult before the VO).

Applied 15th of August (paper route).
Did biometrics the same day (15th Aug).
Linked application on 21st August.
Upfront medicals passed on 28th August.
Background check started 28th August.
Visa approved on 21st September.
Correspondence letter came in today (22nd Sept).

One tip from me is- Get someone to crosscheck your SOP again for typo errors before you submit.

congrats on your visa application success . You can drive with your r Nigerian drivers license here. But in the absence of this, you can procure an international one.

My driver's license is still in paper form since Dec 2017. i don't have the card yet and they keep saying it's not ready yet. So i think getting an International Drivers license will be better for me.
Any idea who issues it?

I think between 5 - 8 days from the date of submission.
I know someone who recently submitted and passport was ready on the 7th day after submission.

Hi Nairalanders,

Still waiting for my hubby's approval. It will end in praises and thanksgiving in Jesus name.
However, we got an update yesterday for Medical passed for all of us meanwhile passport is already with the Visa office. .

Please, I want to ask, does anyone have an idea how to go about getting an International Drivers license in Nigeria?
Is it okay to land Canada on a weekend? say Saturday or Sunday. For people that have landed, was it better landing on weekday or a weekend?. I have plenty load.
