As it stands, any coach who cannot win the last 4 games with the calibre of players we have, we blame that coach and coaches before him.
Qualification is possible and IN OUR HANDS. For some of the players, they may never play in a WC if we don't qualify for this. It should be do or die. Any player like Boniface should not be in the set up. Any sign of unseriousness should be weeded out of this team. THE PLAYERS/TEAM NEED TO BE 100% PSYCHOLOGICALLY AT THIS POINT. Any thing short of this, we are done
una get liver for this WCQ, when I grow up I want to be like you guys! grin

Nigerians we're richer and fared better under OBJ. Just imagine moving minimum wage from 700 to 3500 alone. That's 500% increase? What do you think will happen to the civil servants and private sector employees? What about those employed in telecoms sector that was just starting up and in the recapitalised banks? The likes of Ali Baba, Basketmouth and other artistes made good money from the support given to the entertainment industry. Nigerians had it better under OBJ. That's a fact
And you say telecoms do not drive towards science and tech grin. How many people did the banks and telecoms even employ from the teeming population of unemployed Nigerians?

Nigerians were never richer under OBJ., They did groan under incessant increases in petrol prices and all. Check Otedola's new book, where he said OBJ abused him for advising him on the deregulation of diesel, leading to diesel scarcity at the time. We have short memories, always thinking the past was better.

What kind of lie is this?
Most of our infrastructural development happened under the military. How do telecoms aid your drive towards science and tech? Are you even aware that military usually has the most cutting edge tech in advanced countries? How did military make you depend so much on govt?
Cut the crap of the military jor, the light rail in Lagos now, was it done by the military? The Lagos-Ibadan rail, done by the military? all the infrastructural expansion for the FCT Abuja was it done by the military? second niger bridge by the military? Even the third mainland bridge was never started by the military; all the industrial estates in Lagos and Ibadan were never started by the military. The lie that the military did most of our infrastructure has long expired. Even the first generation of Nigerian universities was never established by the military.

The military incursion into our polity was a disaster and was responsible for our slow pace of development. If you like, continue to be gaslighted by the military crap.

The inability of the current government to tame it and bring a lasting solution to it means that they hace failed.
Why on earth should tinubu be there and terrorists take hostage the people? Then he is incapable.

GEJ i could say to an extent was able to give technical blow to boko haram but this was during his last months in office.

If any government could maintain that tide then things wilm improve. The government doesn't care, soldiers are crying.. I mean under ranks soldiers fighting the war. The president has said nothing
The sentimental approach to addressing the Niger delta struggle through amnesty in terms of monetary compensation has made it more difficult for any govt to address insecurity in any region as every one now wants the Niger delta settlement which is impossible and never sustainable. Apart from the awards of education scholarships given to students from Niger delta region to enable them access educational opportunities and careers opportunities I never supported all those cash and contracts awards all in the name of amnesty. You can see that all efforts of amnesty in the north to tame the insurgents has never worked.

Let's talk about the things that matter not telecoms and availability of internet. Governments around the world are not elected for that and their KPI's are not assessed on those things.

Standards of living as regards jobs, inflation, interest rates that either raise podrty levels or reduce them.

Security as it relates to life expectancy. That is anything from crime rates to education, health, the environment and other factors relating to social security.

These two are basic and should be the main reasons why people vote governments into office or vote them out.

What I am saying is that these factors have not been bettered by any subsequent regine since independence.
You need science and technology to drive basic standards of living whether it’s healthcare, education or environment, you can never separate them from science if you doubt check any developed or advanced nation what is driving their growth? Jobs and economic growth don’t appear suddenly, there must be driving factors which we are just beginning to understand or try to do in Nigeria. All regimes in Nigeria struggle to understand science and technology to solve problems which is why we have policy failures or summersault.

For example how can in this day and age farmers in Nigeria record so much post harvest losses due to spoilage of perishable crops where we have so much mouths to feed or why we do still have so much maternity deaths in Nigeria. Even the insecurity challenges from the Niger delta region to up north are caused by environmental challenges such as oil spills or drought due to climate change and you think scientific approaches are not needed?

Don’t mind Nigerians. Even their so called Yaradua was known for just two things and he cold have failed woefully if he had completed his tenure, maybe. Amnesty and #5 reductions in fuel subsidy.

What I know is even when people used to build upstairs with #40000 all the songs that were sang then were about how bad the country was.

As it was in the beginning so it is now. No wonder Fayose would always say that Nigerians are naturally people who are know to always complain.
Yar Adua even worsen things by reversing the sale and privatisation of refineries we are still battling with today! Imagine telling dangote that yar adua was a better president no be better slap person go chop?

Nigeria has never been fair to the poor and downtrodden in any regime both military and civilian. People should stop the gaslighting jare

My brother food was not a problem during obasanjo era.

Insecurity was not a problem. See you can travel from rivers state to sokoto by night nothing go happen. You can't try it now.

I could remember teachers buying cars for the first time my headmaster and Primary 6 teacher bought cars in 2001. At 2001 i was already in jss2
The insecurity issue in Nigeria which is responsible for the food crisis was an offshoot of the so called Niger delta struggle which actually began in obj era with kidnappings of expatriates to make a statement of the issues in the region. I remember then someone from the middle belt I worked with raised an alarm that if northerners should learn the art of kidnapping then there will be a major national crisis and anytime I see what’s happening now I remember that statement.

The major change in Nigeria is moral than economic as we are becoming more heartless and losing our humanity under the guise of economic hardship that has been there since the military era.

Obj govt underwent massive loan pardon campaign from imf and paris club which they got and this had a surge in our foreign reserve and outlook. A lot of countries even gave Nigeria grants being a govt just coming out of military regime which is a norm for UN and world banks.

Under Obj corruption wasn’t loud because we were under the military govt that won’t allow civilians to loot but only them and they are minute in numbers unlike during Obj and post obj era. Obj even introduced corruption properly through passing bills at the National Assembly, fighting impeachments, vote buying and third term agenda.

When Obj came into power in 2009 he met crude oil at around $10 but within 1 year the price of crude was almost doubled and by 2003 crude oil was already around $30 and up to $40 still be increased fuel price …All these contributed to the massive foreign reserve increament because we don’t have many corrupt politicians like today. Dangote was just starting out, Glo man was just starting out etc the household names then were the likes of FAN( of fanyogo etc).

Minimum wage before obj was like #3500/#500 I think and he increased it to#5000/#7500 for fed employees.

All these contributed to it but we can shy away from the fact that obj had great economic teams.

Crude oil price raised up to $100 per barrel under Jonathan( Gej was one of the luckiest presidents) and we were supposed to have a lot of money to throw around but it went to some peoples pocket. But towards his departure, it declined to about $40. This is one of the reasons Buharis govt had financial difficulties coupled with Covid 19

All in all, every govt has things that give them advantages and what gives them shortfalls. But Nigerians will never know the true worth of any leader until they leave the govt.
Debt relief is what made obj regime looks good. I was in university all through obj first tenure and I can tell you life was hard as hell with incessant strikes and all sorts. The same thing Nigerians complain about today was still the same things being said today; bad roads, poor healthcare systems and poverty. The so called economic team obj was just rhetorics because of the nice cvs of the persons in the govt. That Nigerians were richer or fared better under obj is a mirage

Certainly, because since independence Nigeria has not seen a better tomorrow. A country in constant decline as far as all the indices of life and qualitative living. Just check them out, poverty, security & crime, healthcare, education, justice, etc. Practically nothing is better today than it was ten years ago, twenty years ago, thirty years ago....

Today an inflation rate of 30 percent is seen as normal. Today you sell your car for more than it was bought after significant depreciation. Are these things not weird in a sane society.
That Nigeria has not seen a better tomorrow is not true, the military slowed us down as most of the development we see today would have happened in the 80s if we had no military rule. Telecoms would have been in earlier which would have hasten our drive towards science and technology aided by the private sector. The military made Nigerians to depend too much on govt for most things and destroyed our sense of dignity, self reliance and self worth.

But it's the prerogative of a sovereign country to control its borders and remove those who have no legal status - otherwise what's the point of a border? However I think the priority should be illegal immigrants who have committed crime, of which there are many, not those who have otherwise lived lawfully for decades, have American children, integrated into society etc

I agree that immigrants are vital for many sectors in the US. However my grouse is that these companies are happy for them to remain illegal because they are a source of very cheap labour - no need to pay them going rate, no need to provide medical insurance or other employment benefits - they're illegal aliens right, who can they report to??

They should be lobbying the government to regularise the status of their workers to enable them work freely and be paid the going rate - which will also benefit the government in the form of (increased) tax receipts, reduced reliance on the state etc
How many? That’s always the issue and at the end they won’t be up to the target number they want deported hence they going after innocent people going about their normal lives to make up for their target numbers to please their base

It’s amazing to always assume that the average person who knows they are not citizens and just want a livelihood will take to a life of crime.

They need to introduce a regularisation scheme for existing illegal workers e.g. those with no criminal record, those who have lived X years in the US etc - even if it's a temporary visa like we have here, with no direct route to settlement.

At least the workers will be able to work without fear and exploitation - unfortunately many are paid below minimum wage, no insurance or employment rights etc.
The Biden administration had a Bipartisan bill to address the issue, bipartisan means both democrats and republicans agreed on it and was ready to be passed by the legislature but guess what, Trump asked the republicans in the house to back off from the deal at the last minute due to his political campaign and all those efforts went down the drain! Even the TPS scheme which is a temporary status thing you’re talking about for certain nationals have all recently been cancelled by the King of the North himself and now all those folks are all out of status!

KS should not even think about it else labour party will be gone by next general election. What Trump is doing can only work in a lawless country like US. The British justice system will not even allow the govt to do what Trump is doing. Stop the boat YES but the moment they get into the country they should be treated with some level of dignity.

If KS decided to do that then expect the economy to tank and everyone of us will 'collect'.

Ask Americans farmers and construction companies how Trump immigration policy is benefiting them.
All the policies in the US currently is achieving same results in the UK, low job growth, inflation and more despair. That’s what all these talk of shutting borders achieves, nothing more!

Then he should be ready to lose power to Nigel in 2029 (or Rayner n co even before the general election). Sometimes I don’t know how dumb politicians can be. Voters are literally telling you their issues and you’re forming you know better/refusing to give them what they want, when Trump has shown you the example and you’re losing support left, right and centre. They should go ahead and commit political suicide then, no one’s holding them.
Even the Nigel making mouth will not stop any boats either, the Torries couldn’t, Labour can’t so what will Nigel do that will be different? It’s all gimmicks to win elections that’s all and when they get in power they look for the quickest or easiest vulnerable people living in the uk to pounce on. From Theresa May that’s has been the plot, international students, windrush generation, eastern europeans(Brexit), Muslims, Arabs and other minorities in the uk they can easily show power on to please their people!

Great analysis as per usual 👍🏾
One choice they can make and it’s relatively easy imho is actually STOP THE BOATS and deport those in hotels/stop funding them! Just borrow some of Trump’s harsh methods and the illegal migrants will get the point and stop coming altogether. Once KS manages that, he’ll steal the thunder from Reform/Online Right and legal migrants will support this as well. It’s a no brainer for me.
Nobody will stop any boats it’s the legal migrants that will continue to bear the brunt, know this and know peace. Once there is more pressure expect salary thresholds to go up again or more occupations struck off the skilled workers list; that’s all KS has to offer

This is a player who has given away penalties to team members when he should have increased his tally..

Simply put, it's bad for football business. If players are allowed to dictate when they want to leave and force transfers on their preferred terms, contracts will become meaningless, big teams will become too powerful and small teams will struggle financially. Clubs don't like it when players submit transfer requests because it disrupts their plans.

Even though we support these guys, the truth is that they signed contracts agreeing to remain at the club, with a certain salary for a certain period of time. So legally they're on the wrong side. The way Isak went about his own is even annoying tbh.
When a player has given so much value to a club and he feels he wants more what’s the sin in that? Just like the club it’s also legal for the player to move on. I don’t see how they are on the wrong side legally especially when there are offers on the table, is that not business too? A player is already worth more than what you’re offering currently and if you insist on keeping the player and he starts depreciating in value with you then what has the club gain?
