BankyGee: Like this is a historic moment for a Nigerian and African player but bad belle dey make them wan water down the whole thing like say e no matter.
I refuse to be among, I admire greatness! I record greatness and it's just a matter of time before I become greatness too.
Osimhen is GREATNESS!
In the same week Nigerians are being bashed in some foreign countries but make we celebrate the ones giving us a good reputation out there na problem. I bet if it was an English player getting this vibe in Turkey it will be in the British media all week cos they know that’s a huge thing for their country but no for us we must become critical of anything good and that’s why small countries like Ghana diss us a lot cos we have rubbished ourselves before them. If we like make we continue this stupid habit and think we are being clever, imagine Morocco petitioning CAF alleging that we used ineligible players that’s how they don see us finish including Libya pulling useless stunts on us few months ago. But do I blame them of course not because we Dey yeye ourselves too much out there on top nothing.
BankyGee: Osimhen is a record breaker, he's always breaking old and setting new records. This guy has broken more records than many Nigerian greats, set continental records multiple times and is still set to break and set more records.
How many Nigerian footballers currently dey put Nigeria on the biggest stage like this? The whole world knew a player was moving from somewhere to somewhere, just to go sign a contract, hasn't been officially unveiled yet. I can swear that if it was Haaland or Mbappé pulling such numbers, we no go hear word here.
Y'all are just sour minded because he no cut him salary for Premier League teams and fail to see the positives and how big this guy is raising the Nigerian flag.
Well, no long talk. OSIMHEN TO GALATASARAY is official, the biggest signing in Turkish history, the third most expensive transfer in African football history (of which Osimhen himself still holds the first position).
The fact that he's the only African player to have been bought at the rate of 70M+ more than once shows his consistency and lack of form-dipping and he'll be here to do more crazy things.
Osimhen is not just a name, it's a Nigerian brand, it's a Nigerian force, it's Nigerian PRIDE! Whether you like it or not! Osimhen is grace and greatness personified! 🇳🇬
With the historical reception he got from Galatasaray fans after their club delegates and club have suffered so much just to sign him, I'd rather be at Galatasaray than cut my salary by half and still be expected to k-ll myself for the club. See Ekitike wey dey find am hard to trap ball for yesterday match dey earn €10M now from €3M, is this so hard to understand? We love deceiving ourselves as Nigerians!
GOD BLESS OSIMHEN FOR NOT LISTENING TO ONLINE ADVISERS. LEGACY IS NOT TIED TO THE PREMIER LEAGUE ALONE!
lbrichman2: You guys should learn to calm down.. Una just dey cry about this move since.. You can't know what's best for him more than the one wearing the shoes himself..
You're looking from the outside.. I'm sure the whole details of why he ended up on Galatasaray have not been released..
Give the guy a break Osimhen has done no wrong.. When ADL wanted to frustrate him last season, Gala gave him a way out.. See the lengths they have gone to sign him up now.. see the sacrifice! It's difficult to turn away from that kind of love and desire..
They are even buying players and strengthening their squad to make them more competitive ..
Na so una talk about PSG being in a farmers league until they flog everybody last season..
Again I say, you guys should learn to calm down Make season start, I trust Victor to shut everybody up.. Hausa league or not
Nothing wey you talk go satisfy haters them. Just allow them be make we enjoy one of the best sporting week in naija ever. Anyone wey still Dey cry make dem go bar go drink out their sorrow.
charlesemeka85: u have said it all. If dem like mk the president of Turkey come airport receive Osimhen and em entourage/family the move na one of the worst made by any Nigerian player in recent times
Imagine how hurtful it is scoring tons of goals in a league where your effort and talent won’t be applauded and acknowledged just because you do it in lowly rated league.
Competing for the the league golden boot with the likes of El Neysri, Tammy Abraham , Nwakaeme and co when you are as a good as Halaand, Mbappe and other world class rated players of this generation 😪😪😪😭😭😭
I just pray Mola’s move to Inter materializes mk em put smile for my face jaree 🤦♀️🥱
😂 In this same thread where people talk say osihmen is not world class, Oga Emeka calm down o some people here have accepted osihmen can never be like mbappe or halaand so dead this matter abeg.
You’re the one that’s hurting some folks here that may be supporting your point but inside them they are happy that osihmen is not near world class, not everyone is sincere like you o so chill. All those talk of potential na just hypocritical hyping.
The Arabs need to evolve in the game, especially within Africa. I doubt they can try all these shenanigans outside the shores of Africa, especially at the FIFA level. It looks like they think they can always roll over any African team and do as they like, even see Libya the other day, who are nowhere in the African game, trying to rub shoulders with Nigeria. If this is not racism in disguise, I don't know what is, always trying to rock the boat unecessarily. Ademola Lookman won the APOTY, and they all walked out of the hall in the name of being robbed. Who the hell do they think they are, sef, just sore and bitter losers, rubbish!
Karlman: Your ancestors did not build and did not own lagos. Your ancestors were farming cocoa and crops in Oyo and Ogbomoso before coming to hustle in lagos like other Nigerians
Language, ancestry, and geography bind people together all over the world. The military is the one that tried to bundle everyone together, all in the name of unity, which never worked and has never worked anywhere in the world. The French in Canada have their province in Montreal, and they govern themselves without any interference from other English-speaking provinces in the same country, and they insist on their French heritage and make the French language official in all their dealings in their province. Even in terms of migration into their province, they favour Francophone countries and nationals more than others. Same thing with Portugal in Europe, they favour Brazilians from South America migrating to their country more than other nations, so it's nothing strange, just global dynamics of language, geography, and ancestry.
Karlman: The indigenous people of lagos are not comfortable with the second fiddle role they are playing in lagos politics, it's just that they have been overwhelmed by these outsiders who are now claiming lagos. But it will not last forever because one day soon they will take over their State from those hate mongers.
Who are the indigenous people? or is there is there a rank among indigenous Aworis, Ijebus, Egba, Egun, and so on? who are the outsiders
hotseat: While preserving the history of Lagos State is a necessity, caution must be taken so as not to be viewed as an attack against "perceived enemies".
Any decerning observer knows that this sudden renaming of streets and roads appears to be a fallout of the false claim that Lagos is a no man's land nauseatingly brought to the fore during the last presidential election in the State.
The fact that Lagos State belongs to the Yorubas of the State notwithstanding, other Nigerians have and continue to make their various contributions towards its present economic, social and political status.
We can't afford to profess "One Nigeria" only in theory but not in practice!
Live and let others live!
The more the merrier!
@hotseat
Lagos is no longer the FCT, and it's now under the management of the state and local governments. The day we all know and understand this, the better. Lagos is not the only cosmopolitan city or town in Nigeria where Nigerians are contributing to its socio-economic and political standings.
All this hue and cry has no legal basis. When Lagos was seeking special status and recognition few years ago for more funds and derivation due to the population explosion over the years from all parts of Nigeria, all the people crying now should have supported that bill to give them a legal basis for more rights in Lagos as residents, but I guess so many were short-sighted then (I for once never supported that bill anyway cos I understood the entire scope of how far that can go). If that were achieved, it would have regulated the state and local governments on certain things they can and cannot do. Lagos is just like any other state in Nigeria as a sub-national and all residents, whether they like it or not, will be subject to its laws and creed just like residents in Kano or other parts of northern Nigeria are subject to Sharia and other practices. For example, during Ramadan, schools in some northern states were closed down for certain periods. Despite all the hue and cry, did any state reverse its decision?
States in Nigeria are sub-nationals that can determine whatever they want or need at any time, including setting up airlines, sea ports, or what have you. The idea of trying to hide under Unity to hoodwink any state to behave in a certain way is just emotion and has no legal basis. All that is needed is tact, sensitivity, and diplomacy by all for peaceful coexistence. Grandstanding and name-calling will never achieve anything.
Originalsly: Tribalism really runs deep and is the main reason why we are making progress. Let's chew on the above. The man is not named ... but his tribe is... tribe ...the priority. The man renovated the street ...meaning the street was already there...he basically repaired it. Who built the street? ... didn't it have a name? The one who repaired the street earned the title. With this kind reasoning ...the street will need repair again and again .....so whoever repairs it earns the title . Is it not every few years streets will change name? Can one imagine the changes in the record books? ...land titles? ...house addresses? Tinubu son decides to renovate several streets....and earn the right to rename them ... can you imagine how many streets will have the same name? ...maybe a number following to distinguish one from the other?
Streets and their names have a history and this should be preserved...this is what Fashola is saying . Some streets that do not reflect our history ... no problem in renaming them...streets that celebrate the colonialists .... the oppressors.... they need to go ...but we are too colonialized to dare do such a thing .
At last, someone who finally understands the entire message!
CoolAmbience: You are very correct. Even though, as an Igbo, I do not entirely understand the Omuluabi concept, I believe that Fashola is pure class, and posseses the mental competence (mind you, i didn't say 'intellectual capacity' for a reason) to lead Nigeria.
Not Tinubu, Not Osinbajo...but Fashola, for me, without any doubts, represents Southwest's best material, in terms of result, temperament, ingenuity, character, knowledge and resilience, for Nigeria's presidency.
I always find it funny when people try to separate Fashola from Tinubu when they are all from the same scion, including Osinbajo. I think this is where people also misunderstand the Yorubas, cos when Fashola says another thing tomorrow, then he's no longer omoluabi. Just like Aregbesola, today he's an omoluabi but tomorrow he may no longer be, according to some people
Again, many here did not read that Fashola speech adequately to understand his true position
Nigerians themselves should stop berating the country online. This is what these smaller countries like Ghana are using to despise us. Yes, so much is going on in Nigeria that's not pleasant, but carry yourself with more dignity outside the shores of this country. No one glamorises the ills of Nigeria on the global stage than Nigerians themselves. Some will say, but we are saying the truth about our country and its leaders. Still, that truth is what is hurting you out there, before countries that can't even lace our boots in terms of economic power, the hardworking and innovative prowess of Nigerians. It's high time we do better and stop castigating ourselves before chicken countries like Ghana. And yes, I say so, there are still chicken countries out there before Nigeria.
If we like, let's not stop. Tomorrow, a shithole like Burkina Faso or Mali will start deporting Nigerians. Nonsense
SmartPolician: We no dey give shishi means we won't use our hard-earned money to buy your votes. If you like, vote for mugv and pay a heavy price for it. These donations are for improving institutions and furthering humanity.
These donations are like votes buying though, let's not pretend
TheGoodJoe: Understand Sacrifice and why people irk at all these grandiose donations as if they actually care. No one is against the players but the rot in the mismanagement of our Commonwealth.
lovewins: Thing is, what I suggested is government's primary responsibility. The reward for a good outting however we like it just isn't. Also, you are comparing apples and oranges with your reference. The window used her personal money for the perfume purchase, The president used our commonwealth. If Dangote, Otedola and Olumelu for instance made these donations then the conversation would be different, however this is about use of public funds for the greater good.
What the president has done is set an unsustainable precedence. The D'tigress have won the last 4 Afrobasket. They are currently in Ivory coast hoping to win their 5th. Should that happen (very likely will) will they also get $100k each? Mind you, theirs is even a lot more impressive cause that's 5 championships back to back. They've also been treated badly by the Nigerian government as if you remember, they were withdrawn from participating at the last World cup due to the ministries incompetence. So they share similar sentiments as the falcons. Treating them differently from the Falcons is what is known by law as discrimination. In a litigious society like the USA, should they not be rewarded the same way they have a claim against the government and will win.
I believe you get my point. I love this for the girls and rest happy they cashed out, but this doesn't solve anything. They'll likely still have logistics issues at the next callup, have issues with payment of bonuses etc. We should learn as a country to not just throw money at problems but solve them
BTW, this is the UK government doing exactly as I suggested for growth women's sports after a successful tourney. That's systems thinking.
Let the D'tigress win first, and let us see if they won't be compensated. Comparing the UK to Nigeria is overkill, bro. Systems thinking is still far from us. I also saw Aisha Falode, claiming that this was the first time a sitting president would be hosting the Super Falcons (I hope that's true), so there will always be a first time. We await the triumph of the D'tigress, and trust me, there will be pressure on the government to ensure they are rewarded accordingly, too. We should lavish our sportsmen and women heavily with taxpayers' money who are working so hard than waste such money on politicians who are not adding value.
Mujtahida: I agree with all that you said except as regards the use of public funds. In the grand scheme of things how much is 150m or 3.6 billion? Money wey people dey steal yapata steady steady.
We must learn lavishly celebrate our heroes. We are very poor at doing that. This occasion will be the inspiration for many magical moments in the future. You won't know the secret spark that has been ignited in the hearts of many young girls.
In ancient Rome, their national ethos was simple and straightforward: Glory. Whatever it takes, whatever it cost.
Thank you o! Honestly am blown away with the way the girls are being celebrated, especially with our bad reputation of not honoring our sportsmen adequately. My own be say make those girls spend their money well and do lots of investments, I no wan hear story tomorrow say I was abandoned o, that money and all the cash they are getting is enough to create long-lasting wealth if they manage it well and invest accordingly.
lovewins: Shared this at the Falcons thread. For extra context these are my thoughts
Extremely happy for the girls but this is about how we steward public funds and in my opinion this isn't the way to go. Yes the girls deserve to be commended but this isn't sustainable. Let me break it down.
The president just gave the entire crew about $3 Million Dollars. For context, that's
3 times the WAFCON prize money 3x what they got at the last FIFA world cup after tax 3 years salary for an average female footballer player.
If they have that kind of funds to give, how to help the super falcons will be to put that money in a trust exclusively for the Falcons managed by a team of a neutral committee of heroes high net worth women absent the NFF. That initial fund can change the phase of female footbal in this country for a long time. If you put $3M in a low yield low risk investment of say 10% a year, that's $300k (which is the amount the ladies will get from their CAF winnings) in returns yearly that is enough to handle issues of bonuses and allowances. $300k means you can easily gift winners of future WAFCON a $10k prize money without issues. The only thing the NFF will likely need to take care of will be logistics.
Now imagine it's a $10M fund, that sets women's football apart for generations to come. That's how to think future and development while also being appreciative of the present. Sadly we are a money driven society and just throw money at every problem and then get suprised when they repeatedly happen again.
Guy let’s not pretend we are a corrupt nation, you hand any money to any committee? e go waka even with the so called heroes or honourable people that’s how terrible it is. We are not people that believe in any sustainable anything ours is to wack it now and party hard, yes that’s who we are. The president himself knows this reason he rewarded the girls themselves so they can have fond memories of their success. We should even pray that they get the 3 bed flat on time and it doesn’t take years perhaps the president sef is aware hence the huge cash to lift their spirits. We are a unique nation in our own way may be when we evolve better as a people then we can talk about sustainable planning. The main super eagles sef is not sustainable talkless of super falcons!
