1. We can't blame Éric Chelle for any wrongdoing. Yes, he played one or two players out of position but will be the one to tell them to score open net chances?

2. Lookman should pass more! I watched Argentina's game, four different players scored! It's not bad if you assist! Lookman is my player, he's the African Best Player, he should play like that. He had an okay game, but poor decision making from him cost us "goals", not just a goal. Where he was supposed to shoot once, he touched the ball too many times, where he was expected to run a one-two or just do a simple pass, he was touching the ball too much.

3. We had like 6 big chances in the match, all WASTED! Chukwueze, Osayi-Samuel, Lookman, Moses Simon, Iwobi, Ndidi... BIG CHANCES! BIG CHANCES! The one Osimhen scored was just pure fighter's instinct, not every striker will score that, no cap. He could've easy rammed his head into that crossbar. We move.

4. If we took our chances, Zimbabwe scoring one goal will not be news here, even if it was just 2–1. Our attack let us down, not Éric Chelle.

5. Chukwueze should not be invited again or he should be given a seatbelt on the bench and someone else take his place in the team.

6. The Super Eagles is my only club, but at this point, I give up on any useless World Cup dream. I'm damn disappointed. We played well, but wasting chances cost us this game, not Troost-Ekong, not Éric Chelle, not the midfielders, THE ATTACKERS! THE ATTACKERS!

7. Osayi and Ndidi that even missed chances can be forgiven because they are not strikers... All these forwards that in the next few days we'll be reporting their goals and assists here, what happened to them against freaking Zimbabwe?

8. Guy you finish work, Lookman should be talked to or dropped if he can’t work with his fellow strikers, he even shined in Afcon through an assist from osihmen. At least let’s get one or two goals before you begin to go solo, it’s looking as if because osihmen got two goals in Rwanda he wanted to get on the score sheet by all means in uyo. One shot he had in the first half should have been a cross to osihmen. I like Lookman but he needs some talking to by the coaches. I feel it’s the reason Boniface is also struggling in that set up. When I said some time ago that Boniface and Lookman should lock up themselves in a room and talk I was mocked here.

Thank you for the article especially for those who keep blaming the coach and nff for clear and begging chances that were missed in the game. The Zimbabweans were on the platter for real slaughter but our players messed everyone up. Nonsense!

We are just an arrogant people, the last time we were in the Afcon final before 2024 was in 2013, a whole decade ago, a coach came and took us to the final. Aina is a true professional who rose to the occasion where our traditional wingers failed; all these excuses of being played out of position don't cut it for me, conceding at the 90th minute has nothing to do with being played out of position. Everyone, irrespective of position, should keep things tidy in the dying minutes.

light mentality is so huge in football but we undermine it a lot in Africa, mentality is what feeds character, and any team that would win anything must have it, for a long time the mentality of the super eagles as a bunch has been so inconsistent, only little flashes here and there, but the super eagles and Nigeria as a whole does not have a winners mentality right now, and we do not have character.

This losses and draws are psychological, and this team does not know how to win in front of their fans, they play with less pressure away and do better. We must tackle this issue going forward. This is too early bruv, though I felt he committed too many men forward especially in the first half as a better opposition in counter attack would have hurt us. This a coach with an attacking philosophy which is what most Nigerians want, defensively he may not be top notch and that’s where our experienced players should come in to help the team.

Zimbabwe defenders were all on Osimhen. Immediately he was substituted, they started going forward and attacking. Chelle should have brought in Yusuf, even Aribo to protect the lead instead of bringing in Boniface. Same mistake he made twice against Ghana when they scored his team 2 late goals in each half.

We can blame the coach for all we can but conceding in the 90th minute is unforgivable by any standard and the fact that this has happened under different coaches shows we have a bigger problem. I was never sold on Chelle cos I felt we could let Finidi go why Chelle especially when we saw what he did at Afcon but we were all enthusiastic because we saw him as an attacking minded coach which is what most Nigerians want to see all the time.

All games against SA, Rwanda and Zimbabwe in Uyo were all under different coaches but similar results, we should all note this before we turn on the coaches or nff

Didn’t watch the game yesterday due to commitments but from the info I got after the game Chelle bleeped up big time

You desperately need a win which is 3 points which u were on the verge of getting but ignorantly threw that away. As a coach managing a team in such desperate position in the group what matters for now is winning your games but not destroying your opponents with mind blowing score lines like 3-0,4-0 etc, what matters most judging by the teams position in the group is winning as much as they can

When the team got the goal in the second half the ideal thing to do is sub in more bodies to the midfield and defence to protect the lead as well as hit the opponent on counter attack when there is opportunity for that

Chelle is a good tactician but the problem he has is he is desperate to impress his employers and super eagles fans by winning pretty with big goal margins forgetting that his major focus should be on getting 3 points in each game by hook or crook ie by any means

He is new to the job and it will take a bit of time for the players to adapt to his tactics and philosophy but till then he should focus on winning games in this ongoing WCQ series and pray that other teams in the group drop points

Chelle has his faults for yesterday's results but the damage was done way before he came. Eric is a decent manager who I think will improve the team but he needs to remove players who can't deliver asap.

that's why in my paranoid mind I believe either Eguavoen ( the technical director ) or a group of people in the NFF are the ones forcing the coaches to use certain formations which end up giving the SE same bad results.

Please stop this, abeg don’t bring Eguavoen or nff into this, nobody can spin this. The players brought us to where we are today and if by the next game half of these players are still invited then we are not serious as a country. A game like this must have consequences and must begin from the players taking full responsibility. Tikitaka caused the mess and some great players of the past has said it. The over emphasis on teamwork which is not bad in itself over what individual brilliance can still bring to a team is responsible for the lack of enough prolific players these days as players have become more robotic in their play, there will always be debates but that’s the damn truth. For the first time I found the last euros so boring except for the heroics of yamal.

As for the mental toughness of our players that’s been an issue for some years now but can we blame them much? cos you can’t give what you don’t have, simple it’s time to call it what it is let them give way to others who can try just like they were given the opportunity too

Ekong, Iwobi, Bassey, Lookman, Aina are foreign born players which means they cannot handle 90mins of Nigerian heat or African heat on the field so them playing more than 65 - 70 mins should be an abomination...

Nigerian players with the attitude of Onyeka who can run all over field should be the ones getting invited.

Foreign born players are good but they should not be allowed to play full match especially since they will start the next match.

NFF and most Nigerians don't consider players fatigue and tiredness from previous matches can affect their performances..

For how long we will continue blaming coaches, the same eagles lost to Rwanda in uyo, drew SA in uyo haba! different coaches but same result of inability to win at home!

And if we have players who can’t cope with our weather does that not mean we need a new approach for selection of players? Apart from the World Cup proper most of our competitions and matches will always be on the continent and with African opposition so where do we go from here? Keep inviting players who can’t last for more than 65 mins and keep losing games at home?

The current generation of eagles are too over pampered, always on their phones, some are even content creators all manner of shenanigans and what do we get? Ikpeba some few weeks back threw a jab on these players even yabbed them they can’t play before Lagos fans, I was one of those who thought he was too extreme but after watching the crap played yesterday I think ikpeba is right. We shouldn’t be blaming the 94 set for being too proud and despising the generation after them.
