Which Ighalo should they try again? Has he not been over tried in that position?
Martins? So that he will waste our time the way Joel wasted our time, abi? This is the problem, some folks think we still have the time to try new players. If anyone observes, rohr keeps using the core of his team for the friendlies with just one or two new injections. The man Sef no get time for too much experiment. The world cup is here already |

darkelf: A sports analyst once said Rohr's major problem is sticking to known failures (either in tactics or personnel selection). At the time, I thought the statement was ludicrous but now, it seems the man has a point. I think this is harsh on the coach. If you say he is conservative, yes. All through Mikel years in Chelsea he was DM but any time he plays for eagles he is an AM, were the se coaches then sticking to failure concerning Mikel? With mikel already in the middle of the pack, iwobi surely will be drafted wide if they must play together |

We need someone who can at least deliver 50-60% of what Mikel does for the team. It is very critical 50-60%, made me remember the song. Give me something light. We need something light as AM now |

kennysville: Friends, countrymen, Nairalanders.... (Yes its been a while yall read that)
First of all, its a good thing that we lost the match so we dont have false expectations of our boys. To those who wanted the loss, yall got your wishes. To those who didnt want us to lose, well its part of the game.
Correct me folks if I am wrong, but we all knew we didnt have a creative midfielder outside of Mikel for almost 2years now. What exactly was done about it? We started looking for makeshift players to mould into creative midfielders. We knew that Alex Iwobi thrives more in the middle of the park than on the wings, yet we still kept making the same Wenger-ish mistakes. Of course I can understand he adds more attacking threat but the dude's natural forte is the Middle. If he had been encouraged more along this line, its possible we would be having a good midfield- Attack link up.
We also had Azubuike Okechukwu who in my opinion is one of the best creative midfielders we have but simply because he plays for one lowly rated team in turkey, we turned the other way. This dude was instrumental to the Gold we won at U23 Afcon, and the Bronze at the olympics. My assessment of our coach is that he is willing to take the risk of sticking with Mikel Obi as the only natural creative midfielder and hope he doesnt get injured. Pray tell folks, what happens if he gets knocked say in training? Then game plan gets disrupted abi? Then we get to run like headless chickens all over with no clear cut cerebral input geared towards attack. It is now evident to the whole world that without Mikel, our brand of footbal is gra gra and frankly at the world cup, they will exploit that promptly. Unfortunately at this time, it is too late to experiment with any new creative midfielder at this stage because we have to worry about them blending in for the team chemistry. As someone rightly said, we should just continue with the set of players that got us qualified so as not to look disjointed. And perhaps, hope for the best from that.
My assessment of yesterday's game is that Rohr's game plan for the match was disrupted by the fact that Balogun failed last minute fitness test as well the reported fracture of Kelechi Iheanacho. He resorted to playing musa as a 9 and we got what we got. This tells me that he needs to work on having equally potent replacements for each of the positions.
Talking about Ebuehi and Idowu, i realize they are better suited for attack minded formations. This implies that when we wanna be bullish, Shehu is our man, but whe we wanna attack and keep an all out attack, we need these two boys ( Idowu and Ebuehi) hence the need to really perfect 3-5-2 and really sharpen it , primed for attack!
Our passing needs a lot of work. It is not nice to see us lose possession after 3 passes. Our forwards need to work together in that if a player is in a better positiin to score, then they shd pass to him instead of seeking personal glory (I dont wanna mention names). I dont have a problem with yesterday's team selection. What i have a problem with is the aim or objectives the coach set out to achieve. Was it to sit back and soak up pressure from the Serbs and then hit them on counter? If that was the case, then it was poorly executed
I believe in our team a lot. It just takes right tactics, right personels and executions for us to be able to win. It hurts that we are in the situation we are. I have said this before and I will still say it again, I wouldnt worry about our goal keeping "crises". It is the least of our worries right now. If our team is set up to always keep possession, you will find out that all our goalies will do will just be Goal kicks and routine clearances. In other words, there are things worse than goal keeper problems. Let us get our midfield and attack sharp. End of discussion!
Up Super Eagles Well said. Many thanks |

Why field players whom you know their real game abilities for 90 minutes when you have some players whom we've not fully seen or not seen at all in real game. I think that is being subjective and not objective.

What did Mikel Obi and Victor Moses brought to the table in the world cup they went? We went beyond the group stage, the last was in 98 with the olisehs and okochas. Martins and co could not get us beyond group stage |

Are you serious? You don't know what Obafemi Martins did in Europe with his clubs?
Oga, Obafemi Martins won trophies in Europe and the world knows he contributed to winning those trophies.
He was was more infuencial to his team than Mikel Obi and Victor Moses. You can take that to the bank. Which European continental coup trophy did martins win for his club? Mikel was a stand out performer on the champs league win over Bayern Munich, even Chelsea fans all over the world still gives him the credit, moses had a good run of form with important goals for Chelsea in their Europa league win. Martins goals for Nigeria could not win any aficon for us and failed to qualify Nigeria for the 2006 world cup. In 2010 world cup, the likes of martins could not take Nigeria beyond the group stage with even countries like Greece and south korea in our group. Am talking about delivering when it matters most. So Ebuehi is highly rated to the extent that Rohr need to force him to play when he knew is not 100% fit and Balogun was replaced some minutes to the match due to fitness.
Pls why all these excuses for Ebuehi performance, for God sake i know how some are bashing Shehu performance just cos of Ebuehi. This is the problem we have here sir and we will continue to have. I thought you claimed Mikel Obi and Victor Moses are old wine but could blend with the team because of the depth of their talent. But now that it is proven that they guys have depth in talent, you are changing mouth.
I fear naija ooooooo. What has Martin's and aluko contribution to the team in the past won for Nigeria. It took great depth in talent in moses and Mikel for Nigeria to win another afcon, in addition both players also have European continental cup trophies to show in which they were also largely instrumental for their clubs winning those titles. Even the entire world knows that both moses and Mikel are our best players because of their depth. We are talking about results delivery on the pitch but you guys shy away from that because your favourite players must be invited and must play even though they are not delivering. This is too bad from you. Mark my words, if aluko is invited, he will flop like Joel. If coaching crew are so convinced about martins and aluko, they would have been invited before now but Joel don spoil market, only you think otherwise. |

Yes, they can be infuriating but it is unnecessary to call them names for it.
About the game: The positive is that the fans (well, some) will no longer clamour for some players. Joel Obi was hailed as the best thing since slice bread, now we can see clearly. Hopefully, the attack against the coach will not be as high when next he doesn't invite your favourite players.
God bless you Sir. But we saw that all those team cohesion, he can't offer anything where plain lies not to bring him to the team. what you guys are failing to understand is that this is a new generation super eagle who plays differently from the team we had few years back, the baloguns, ekongs, ndidi, iwobi, iheanacho and co have brought in a new dimesion that only experienced players like moses and mikel has been able to cope because of the depth of their personal talent. Musa is struggling to gel with these players, Echejielle too, even omeruo. This is why a joel obi can't gel or a martins or even aluko.
