orriyomi33: God bless you for this the LAW.
I noticed the pattern of guilt in the eagles game for some time now, they begin to cower when they are under pressure, from their look you would see the spirit is down which a very observant opponent like the DRC used against them.
They seem to be afraid of losing which they eventually does anyway. I hope they can revive their mentality to a higher degree like the one displayed by the FALCONS during the WAFCON that made them triumph in front of a hostile host nation despite being two goals down. This is where you need your experienced players to step up and lead the rest of the team. Instead it’s even a player like Bassey you see trying to start attacking from the defence while players like ndidi, Simon, Chuks and Iwobi will go to sleep. But for Bassey bravery our wcq game against SA away would have been a loss. |

Bossoflife25: The loss of Federick and Aina is a major blow difficult for me to take!
The Super Eagles has done very well in their last three games. Demolished Benin, and Gabon respectively. Should have demolished DRC in the first half. DRC only took over when fatigue set in. Playing 240 minutes of football in three days no be beans.
It still baffles me when peeps here says we played rubbish and doesn't deserve to be at the World Cup.
I simple don't take mofos with such opinions seriously! Folks are just annoyed with some certain players who didn’t lived up to expectations especially the most experienced ones. Let’s be honest players like Moses simon, Iwobi, Chuks and Nididi ought to know better. If your experienced players are not up to par then what hope do we expect from anyone to put in the team. That’s how bad things are so don’t blame people that much |

FIFA seems to be in a dilemma to me. If they sanction DRC, they can expect a flurry of petitions. If they don't, everybody hires mercenaries. That’s why fifa must act if not national team football will become somehow and begin to lose its savour do you know many Europeans are not even comfortable seeing too many players of African descent in their national side? Very soon we may begin to see moves in that area too. FIFA National eligibility rules can’t stand on nothing and just based on passports only. |

semid4lyfe: I doubt any of these dual-nationality players will renounce their European nationalities just to go to the world cup. That’s why for so many years DRC mostly feature home based players especially in Afcon and have struggled to qualify for the World Cup despite having so much talent in the diaspora. The one they have managed to achieve has exposed their criminal and corrupt tendencies. |

semid4lyfe: I believe the NFF has a legal department.
I believe the NFF consulted experienced and reputable lawyers before filing this petition.
I also believe those lawyers advised that the petition had merit and a reasonable chance of success. You do not file at this level on vibes.
It is telling that the petition rests on DR Congo misleading FIFA into clearing ineligible players, and not domestic constitutional rules on dual nationality. Clearly, this no be beer-parlour talk or social media noise. NFF did not wake up bored. Lawyers were involved. Strategy was mapped out. Risks were weighed.
FIFA now sits in a tight corner. If the ruling favours DR Congo, FIFA effectively opens the door for players from countries that prohibit dual nationality to ignore domestic nationality laws without consequence.
If FIFA rules in Nigeria’s favour, it will be forced to confront a loophole it has tolerated for years and tighten enforcement around nationality declarations and clearance processes.
Either way, FIFA ends up shaping the rules, not hiding behind procedure and the world awaits.......... Exactly it will make FIFA to tighten up its rules around nationality which in fairness to them they have in the last recent years but the remaining loophole which countries like Congo has exploited needs to be addressed once and for all. |

123jamessmith: FIFA is very lazy. So they don't look the country's law before legalizing switch of players. A federal can just fraudulently obtain a passport for a player and FIFA will approved the switch without conducting a proper back ground check. It’s because we always think all these international organisations can’t be wrong see they don’t do serious work like that o cos labour is very expensive in any advanced economy. You pay per hour so doing extensive checks is racking up more hours and na money Dey go like that. In fact FIFA will have to pay more for this now. So it’s really not about laziness |

Maybe my friend @JohnBullMySon and others can also look at this. This is not about emotions The guy even mentioned the case of plumptre for the super falcons how the Moroccans also tested that case. I mentioned this earlier on this thread. The dual nationality that Nigeria allows is what saved plumptre not just her grandparent being Nigerian. This is so straightforward not just the ability to issue a passport. |

Ghanaians and South Africans are waiting to troll them once this is over.
They think FIFA is APC Being cleared doesn’t mean they were eligible, it’s like a VAR check after a goal has been scored. Wait for the guys in VAR room to check the goal if it was indeed a goal, ok? |

I counted no less than 5 moments in the first half alone where we would have bamboozled through the Egyptian defense with sleek passes. And there were clear and obvious spaces to exploit!
I concur. They are not willing to take risks; it's obvious why Osihmen gets injured easily while playing for the national team. He's the only one who takes risks. You see that his header against Benin in that 4-0 win, no other player in this team would try that, but that's the risk that took us to the WCQ play-offs. |

Odunayaw: IMO the back passes are symptoms of the team set up. Passing lanes are easily shut down. It's as if everyone is slow to their zones after ball recovery.
At last AFCON (except the final) there was fast movement Team set up or the players not mobile enough running into spaces, this our slowbie movement na problem o |
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Goke7: 10:54am On Dec 17, 2025 |
QueenJazz: So I grudgingly decided to watch the Nigeria game against Egypt this morning, just to see how Akinsanmiro, Nnadi and the new lads played. These are the sum of my observations and thoughts.
1. Eric Chelle's profiling of players remains questionable to me. As good as Akinsanmiro is, I never imagined he'll be playing CAM in the SE. I'll give Chelle the benefit of the doubt that perhaps he was saving Iwobi to be fresh for the AFCON proper and Chukwueze wasn't in camp yet.
2. I guess this is Eric Chelle's first official loss coaching the main Super Eagles.
3. Moses Simon might have just lost his starting spot to Chidera Ejuke. He's not perfect but he does literally everything Moses does (or tries to do) and is slightly better.
4. I have to confess, Salim Fago impressed me in the last few minutes. Maybe it's because I was expecting him to be complete dogwater. But I like his intensity. He might be our joker for this AFCON and I wish him well.
5. I found it rather amusing and interesting that an Egyptian Team A (minus Salah and Marmoush) were mostly parking the bus against a Nigerian Team B. Don't let banter deceive you. Nearly every CAF team fears us. Even the so-called elites. 😂
6. TOO MANY BACKPASSES!!!! I'll never understand why Super Eagles can't evolve from this cowardly backpassing. Even in moments were we would have made sharp runs into the Egyptian 18 yard box, we were passing all the way back to the defense. It's starting to look more like cowardice and low self confidence than just being cautious.
7. Our defenders are easily outplayed. A huge downgrade from the great wall of Peseiro at the last AFCON. That's going to be a huge problem.
8. Speaking of our defense, I don't know why Ryan Alebiosu wasn't given minutes to play. He should have at least come on to see the game off. If Eric Chelle is thinking of starting Osayi-Samuel in this AFCON... Lol.
9. I'm happy that Nwabali seems fit to start. Hopefully he stays fit till the final (if we can get there). There's hardly any difference between Obasogie and Uzoho in my eyes.
Overall, I'm slightly disappointed. This same Egyptian side lost woefully to Uzbekistan and Jordan just last month and this month respectively. We're busy overdosing on hopium that Nigeria might sneak into the World Cup. And if we do, we'd end up in the same group as Portugal, Colombia and Uzbekistan. Does this now mean we'll struggle to beat Uzbekistan who are supposed to be the minnows in that group?
I would have hoped that we'd get a draw with Egypt at the very least. I know we played with our second squad but a straight loss is still poor to me regardless. Spot on, those back passes are becoming a thing with this Eagles, and to me it's a sign of fear even against teams like Zimbabwe, Lesotho, and SA too many backpasses with the likes of Iwobi and Ndidi o, our boys lack liver whether it's the fear of injury, I don't just understand. And yes indeed, Egypt parked the bus because the boys were more dominant. If our attackers were better with their positioning, we should have gotten two or more goals in the second half. |
