Any idea how to get this?

wink
For example there are platforms or bootcamps for techies like software engineers or product managers if you have friends or connects to people in this space link up and ask if you could give a talk or even a webinar. It’s all about networking. And when you get an invite ensure there are posters or online publicity posters with your name and picture as a guest speaker, the poster is part of the evidence along with letter or email of invitation and then from twitter ensure participants engage by giving their feedback, all these will serve as evidence too

The thing is that a lot of people actually have enough experience but might fall short as a result of not putting themselves out there in terms of keynote speeches in conferences, seminars, tv interviews, news paper publications and the likes. I know this because this is our achilles heel in personal situation. But I am actively working to mitigate against it especially as doin this make you eligible for 01,EB1, gulf golden visas and the likes. The day the scales fell of my eyes was then I found out that if you have already accrued 3 years on the skilled worker visa and you apply and get the exceptional talent visa, you can apply for ILR on exactly the same day you get the exceptional talent visa. A close friend actually did it. However this doesn't seem to be an issues in his case, if it were me I would leverage the YouTube channel as evidence of my expertise,
Am really surprised that someone with that kind of profile is looking for COS, the YouTube channel with good numbers sha can even make up for keynote speeches or publications, all na packaging bruv or he looks for an invite to a professional platform or conference and just add that evidence. It’s about just giving it a try even the Australian global talent or national innovation route is another option. And I can see he’s even worked for a global company like Virgin. If while working for a global brand and you get an award like best employee or even just a recognition that comes with a certificate or documented that is like an international award good for evidence to try for an O1 visa.

My bro na me oh: few pages. It's just something I have observed. grin

You go surprise say the 20 years route will be passed into law and some immigrants would still be living their lives thinking they're on the 5 year route. cheesy
That’s what happened with those Australian immigrants story that was shared on the thread some pages back, one of them that was dependant switch to become the main applicant and didn’t realise the laws had been changed that once you switch your ilr timeline reset so they still went ahead to apply thinking they’ve been in the country for 5 years. It’s amazing how the immigration lawyers they used didn’t inform them too until they got the ilr rejection mail.

So truly many don’t keep themselves updated about policy changes in the country they reside o before we now talk about policies in other countries so how will such folks even think about other options available in other places.

Someone like this with this kind of profile should have attempted global talent route and if he didn’t get it then the O1 visa route for the US would have been another option. Uk really have very loyal migrants sha 😂

Any rough estimates for money spent? Did the person go from UK?

I do not trust the UK immigration system hence the reason why I am looking at this for the near future
I don’t have any idea on estimates but yea the person went from the uk gave birth and returned with a Canadian passport for her baby! But of course it’s gonna be pricey as a non resident just like the way folks go to the US to have their babies then!

Hehe... I pondered on whether to respond to you or not. Let's be clear, I am not trying to change your mind but your post made me chuckle. I've been on NL since 2009, and every now and again I still get surprised.

Your post reminds me of a thread I encountered on Reddit. A very high earner who sold his business was seeking advise. One chap questioned what someone with such means was doing on Reddit. It didn't take long for other high earners to show him they were everyday people. The odd thing is that I spend relatively little time here. Elon Musk and Trump are frolicking on twitter despite their schedule.

What I find even the more fascinating is what part of all I've posted you associate with 'wealth' or find widely unfounded. Is it hustling for daily bread or stating that I'm not worthless? I stumbled upon someone with 19 houses (yes nineteen) and I wouldn't even use the world wealthy to describe him. The word wouldn't even cross my mind when describing myself today. It's fascinating but not surprising - people appreciate only what they can see i.e, we tend to see the world thru our circle (no insult intended). This conversation shows that.
It’s best you always ignore such kind of mentions you were just being rage baited! Not worth your time or mental energy!

We want to shoot our chances of our little one getting a passport by birth cool
Looking at CA or any other location
Our skilled worker visa have got 4 years left on the 5 year route to settlement - nothing changes.
Is it worth having the baby outside the UK? - you already know the sole reason of wanting to.
Please your candid advise

CA is always a good option just ensure you pay all the right and accurate medical bills as a non resident or visitor. In my opinion it’s worth all the investment as I have seen someone who did it. Get your visitor visa as the first step if you haven’t.

In the midst of all these brouhaha (immigrations stuff and vilification of Boris wave), we completed on the 27th of November and got the keys to our house. All thanks to the “Rent money is dead money” by LexusGS.

Honestly, it doesn’t scare me a bit as people panic on immigration whatever… I can’t continue paying rent for the next 3 years whilst on skilled worker visa if I have the means to buy. I know if push comes to shove, I can sell in 2 years considering I only took 2 years fixed term anyways, and please don’t tell me it’s easier said than done! I have weighed my pros and cons and I am happy with whatever decision I make as an adult.

Life goes on, don’t delay your plans for the fear of the unknown.

Nuggets from people like Jedisco also informed my decision on stock and shares ISA with InvestEngine. Truthfully, I wish I started early.

I like seeing posts from Zahra because they do contain immigration informations which are legit.

Apologies if this turns out to be a long post. This Nairaland is like a market place. You come and buy (and sometimes sell) the goods you want and use it to cook a delicious meal or dump it in the trash. I have always know always believed that two truths can exist. There will always supposed 'high fliers' and there would always be those that stick with the norm. I personally believe that both are necessary for a healthy community. One just has to choose where one falls under and in that process not look down on the next man because you think he is not striving to be better himself. Its ok if the next man to stay 15 years for ILR if that gives him peace, While it might might not be ok for me, I need to respect the next man's choice because we are not fighting the same battles. What prompted this post the issue where someone said @jedisco was boasting about his achievement. I actually think the opposite is the case. I don't think we showcase enough the path of a successful immigrant so other can get inspiration. I have learnt a lot from Nairaland and still keep learning, Over 14 years ago nairaland was were I ran to when I want have our kid in the US and thankfully it provided me the information I needed and the community, When it was time to build our house back then in nigeria, the housing/building thread was a valuable resource, In 2020 when I decided it was time for my masters study in the UK, Nairaland was the best resource.

I came in as student, Nairaland thread was were I went to for settling down tips, housing, banks accounts, building credit profile etc. I came in at the height of covid when we had to quarantine when we arrive. I got all I tips I needed. While I was a student I did part time carework, I was able to save almost £4000 living frugally, my spouse and kids joined me several month later and she got a very good job here (as she had extensive experience). while the company said they wouldn't sponsor, six month down the line as our visa was expiring they did sponsor her. I got a job after study with a subsidiary of the NHS that offered full remote work and didn't pay as much as I would have liked. I initially gave myself six month to stay in that job but I slowly settled into that job and started to see my self as not being able to earn more that that. I applied to other jobs but didn't get much traction. Through that period my wife and I applied for a mortgage got approved and bought a new build 4 bedroom terrace house and thanks to guidance from the nairaland mortgage thread (thanks to rent money is dead money who some fought against). When the mortgage payment hit I slowly realised that I would need to double my hustle. Enter in Nairaland again, I had already identified an area I wanted to pivot into but wasn't doing as mush action as I would have liked. Then I stumbled on a comment from @copershun ( I hope I got her handle right) on recruiters reaching out to her for roles 70k to 80k, I contacted her and found out that it was the same Data Management/Quality I was play around with that she was referring to. I got serious and did the work, and a few month later started a managerial role in this area. Almost a year into the role I have already identified the next niche I want to play in . Someone might say I am here bragging or what's not but I just hope it inspires some to take step and action and build the type of life you want for yourself. I still am on a journey of self discovery, @chukwuma's post on entrepreneurship has also sparked another fire that I am looking to explore in the next year. Once I again I state that Nairaland is a marketplace, You come here and choose the ingredients you want, and the type of soup you want to use it to cook. Selah
These are kind of stories me I love to see, read and thanks for sharing. More wins ahead and please come back to share more.

However, for some others, they don’t like to hear or see such things. What they want to hear is how immigrants will be driven out to go back to Naija and suffer, hence, when they read anyone doing well, they are angry and will start all manner of accusations of being boastful, proud or looking down on others. They became angrier to hear that immigrants were migrating to other places too, to do even better 😂 (that’s the one that amazes me the most, despite them leaving their precious UK for them). The stories they want to see are the next set of restrictions or rules to send people away. Only those who aren’t discerning enough think they wish others well when it’s actually the opposite. (They will deceptively claim they are not against immigration, bla bla bl, and all other crap 😂)

Once again, congratulations on your huge achievement, and I'm encouraged to know that folks on this thread are beginning to see through all those who post out of a genuine concern for the advancement of immigrants. Cheers, and I can’t wait to hear more success stories from you and others as well.

If you want to root for other African teams at the World Cup, that's your cup of tea. But don't expect me to join your bandwagon. We see it here on a regular basis how aliens invade this thread to poo on us whenever we fall short in any competitive games. Why shouldn't I repay the favor and root for their downfall?

I wish none of them well. Only African team I would have rooted for if a gun were pressed to my head is Cape Verde, but they ended up in the shark tank with Spain, Uruguay and a promising Saudi team led by Herve Renard who beat Argentina and Ivory Coast (recently). Cape Verde might as well not have qualified because they may not get a single point from that group.

Na that England vs Ghana game I wan watch. With the number of diaspora Nigerians in the current English squad, that game will be like a beta version of the jollof derby. And if you even stop to think about that, England is really the only major team that is technically representing us at that World Cup because they have the highest number of Nigerian foreign borns in their squad.
Your post is worth $100m, nothing to add! cheesy

I'm very sure they know the long term effects through their calculations but you should understand that these policies are for short term political gains and this labour government probably won't be in power by the time the effects are felt. Even if they are it'll be another prime minister and a new cabinet.

Take BREXIT for instance, the figures and political party behind it are no where close to the corridors of power today and hence it's not their headache. Just saying.

[quote author=Odunayaw post=137707521]Yarn me abeg 😳

They didn’t qualify though but this is what happened;

In September 2013, Cape Verde beat Tunisia 2–0 in the final match of the 2014 World Cup qualifiers (CAF Group B), which meant Cape Verde topped the group and Tunisia were eliminated. However, Cape Verde had fielded an ineligible player (Fernando Varela) who should have been suspended.

FIFA overturned the result and awarded the match 3–0 to Tunisia. With those three awarded points, Tunisia moved to first place in the group.

Tunisia advanced to the final playoff round of the 2014 World Cup qualifiers because of the disqualification of Cape Verde.

They did not qualify for the World Cup itself (they lost in the playoff to Cameroon), but they did qualify to the final qualifying round due to the ruling.
