Everybody knows that in the speeches by Farage, Badenough and their ilk attacking migrants and gradually turning 'Boriswave' into an epithet, the references to benefits are always said in the context of being on the dole - not contributing and only taking from the government. It's never about the other 'benefits' that are still available to working and reasonably earning families (which SW holders are, by default).

But hey, let the Ostriches keep their heads in the sand.
They actually made attempts, but always met with a huge backlash, hence a no-go area for now

Out of curiosity, how will the digital ID help curb stuff like this? It seems the UK gov will go ahead with implementing the digital ID stuff despite pushback
It will help identify those who are gaming the system and using multiple identities for claims. Some are even claiming number of children that don’t exist anywhere

I doubt the bolded, unless it's for much larger families than a single person or a couple like we have been saying. I just checked, and even the housing gets netted against the full UC money, based on my (admittedly very brief) checks just now. ETA: There's a benefit cap as well; far less than that - https://www.swindon.gov.uk/info/20013/benefits_and_swindon_money_matters/681/benefit_cap

But yes the summary is as you've said in the last paragraph. I have never seen anyone who came in as a student or SW who's even remotely thinking about benefits as a goal post ILR.

Me wey I dey hustle so me and my madam can retire at 55 na him I go dey aim for UC? Abeg.
There is a lot of manipulation and fraud going on that makes many folks get so much than the figures quoted. This is why the idea of Digital ID is being introduced, which is also being resisted grin

Only the poor and irrelevant people will be angry about these benefits,

This is why it's recommended that you go to school and go for a good profession and strive hard to be a better person in life

Rather than sitting behind your phone and lamenting that you are hungry that they are giving some people big benefits

If you are a useless person to yourself and society and the type that always say "school la scam" you will only be rewarded with crumbs
abi o, same people will say school na scam.

Argentina placed 3rd in our group not Bulgaria as we all ended on 6pts but we had +4 goal difference while Argentina and Bulgaria had +3goal difference and Argentina lost 2-0 to Bulgaria in their 3rd group match.
Thanks for pointing this out, further confirms how solid the Bulgarians were while Argentina were the best losers from the group

Mujtahida:
Sometimes teams tick off slowly. I think Bulgaria qualified as best losers from our group. They went all the way to the semis. Remember in 06, France struggled to get out of their group but eventually got their grove in the second round.

Your favorite 2013 set too na higgedly piggedly dem take enter second round but their engine roared into life in the game against CIV. Thereafter na cruise dem cruise till they won the tournament.

So it's not necessarily that a team is poor. Sometimes they don't gell quickly or tactical set may be a hindrance.
Bulgaria was an excellent team, remember our group was one of the toughest with Argentina so our beating Bulgaria 3-0 with the likes stoichov, balakov, and all the other kovs was a shock to many so they coming third was a just a reflection of the group as all three countries had 6 points each with us topping the group by just goal difference. Bulgaria also beat Argentina we lost to confirming how strong they were. Compared to Italy who only got 4 points in fact all the teams in the group all had 4 points with Italy scrapping through on goal difference. I watched the games in that group. The Italians were just lucky getting out of the group stage. For me they weren’t that inspiring even after eliminating us. Na experience carry them all through. The same score line they beat Spain and Bulgaria to get to the final. If they met more experienced sides they would have been eliminated much earlier.

But the person wey Okocha no dribble for that field dey bench. That guy is a maverick. Slick, confident. Oboy, una enjoy wella, una wey watch prime Okocha. And the 5th ranked team in the world.

No be all these ones wey dey draw 5 matches in 9 games. Drawing Zimbabwe and Lesotho.

For instance, if we had beaten Italy, who we likely to meet... Damn.

Can we ever get to that level.
One more thing, is Kanu not in that team??
We would have met Spain in the quarterfinal, and who knows, the same Spain we beat in 1998

Okocha was a delight, I think what annoys people the most about him is when he balloons the ball and starts smiling, grin That thing dey pain sha I no go lie.

I think the catch of the '94 team was the completeness from defence to attack, including the bench; it was a very lucky team.

Kanu was from the U-17 World Cup-winning team of 1993 with teammates like Oruma and Babayaro. There was no one they could bench in the '94 team. In fact, many believe Okocha is the reason we never get to see much of Oruma in the Eagles

South Africa hosting the world cup in 2010 is the direct result of their improved fortunes till now...

I wonder how people will feel that day Italy beat us.
We mess up no be small, in fact, watching that clip today finally made me convinced why Westerhof had to go. The man sabotaged us true true. We had a solid bench, no matter who was injured, but the coach blew up our chances

To think that Italy had ace defenders like Maldini and Baresi and others drilled in the Italian science of Catenaccio and yet we broke their lines, disorganized them several times, razzled them speaks volumes of the quality of our players.

Italy went ahead to play in the finals.
That Italian team was also poor before meeting us. During the first round, they also struggled in the group stage with teams like Ireland, Norway, and Mexico, and they came third in the group, qualifying as one of the best losers. It would have been some form of joke if they won that World Cup. Our inexperience was just our bane!

We lost that match due to what happened between Siasia and Oliseh during training. It was normal training bust up but Westerhoff didn't managed it very well....Siasia was dropped from starting XI and Westerhoff vowed not to use him in that match...after injury to Amunike and Amokachie, Westerhoff brought in Adepoju and Oliha, left Siasia on the bench.
Westerhof missed an opportunity to cover himself with glory with those silly errors, leaving out skillful players like Siasia and Ikpeba in such an important match. Those defence-splitting passes from Okocha would have been better utilised if we had both players on the pitch, who would have also assisted Yekini. What a waste of Human resources.

I do not think it was Oliseh's inexperience because it would have shown in the group stages of USA 94. In retrospect the Azzuris led by Arrigo Sacchi did some chess moves on us and even with 10men crippled us. When Amuneke was injured and YEKINI somehow phagocytosed in that game reasoning was not to feature Oliha but bring in Ikpeba or Even an Ekoku to create more instability for the Italians. We rather opted for a defensive approach and if you remember that game yes Oliseh seemed like the culprit but twas really our dear Austin Eguavoen's wing that was exploited.
That Oliha substitution till today I don't really understand, as we had an Ikpeba on the bench, I think this was when everyone got fed up with Westerhof, as folks started suspecting foul play by the coach.

But the Italians sha they quickly figured us out by injuring both Amokachi and Amunike. These are lessons we should take to heart when attending any World Cup. A solid plan B when our key players are out, because even in 2018, the French folks took Onazi out, and that's when we crumbled.

What i think about this is that the fact that no midfielder have tried to close down this record is one thing that makes him even more indispensable in that XI. The teams he faced those years in those AFCONs.....
If e easy make dem do am. I think he's a victim of his own talent to many Nigerians that vexed that he dribbles too much and trophies no dey especially with the Dinho comparism. Plus our disappointment started at the peak of his Super Eagles days when many were depending on "senior man" to lift the team out of the underwhelming streak. His near goal freekick vs CIV made many conclude the hate and degrading, however not justified.

Oro por sha.

Till midfielder clear that afcon record....
Yekini's retirement was the beginning of that decline, as we had no striker who could fill his shoes. Now we have a striker, but we don't have a midfield.

No matter what we feel about okocha and I too have my reservations about him but he’s still our second top scorer in Afcon after Yekini. As a midfielder that’s massive and I think he will continue to have a shot in our best 11 ever until we see another midfielder overwhelming better.
