I smell another anti tither's grace convention like last year's... now, I feel folks (except anti tithers) won't accept this invitation on the grounds of insincerity on the part of the moderators ( not because they are anti tithers, candour for example has a better pedigree than they both), and since this thread would be grossly dominated by anti tithers and probably atheists, we can clearly assume insults would be an inevitable part of the thread as it is known to be difficult to have a civil discussion with anti tithers without them hauling invectives and insults.

And the idea of an ecumenical thread! I laff in swahili... maybe possible if and only if some new folks man it... but Goshen ft DB in moderation? Talk about garlic and onion...imagine the combination of both! grin

A Reprogramming Through The Word · FRIDAY 25th July·

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God (Romans 12:2).

The Word of God gives you everything you need: health, joy, wealth, prosperity, grace, wisdom and all that the vicarious death of Christ and His triumphant resurrection delivered to us as Christians. That’s what salvation encapsulates. With the knowledge of God’s Word in your spirit, you have what it takes to create anything you want.

At the well of Samaria, Jesus encountered a woman and asked her for a drink of water. But noticing that He was a Jew, the woman told Him they had nothing in common, and for ethnic reasons declined. Then, Jesus replied, "…Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life" (John 4:13- 14). The Master knew He could give her something to quench her thirst for ever—the Word. With the Word, she would be able to create anything she desired.

Often times, when people are facing difficult situations, what they need is a Word-therapy or what I may call a "Word-diet." They’d have to listen to God’s Word and study the Scriptures over a period of time, until the Word gets rid of the wrong mind-set, and reprograms them aright for success. If that doesn’t happen, no matter what else you do for them, their situation wouldn’t change.

Sometimes, when people are sick in their bodies, the real problem is beyond the symptoms that are apparent in their physical bodies. Such pains might stem from their mind. There’s a difference between the sickness of the mind, and that of the body. So even when they’re healed in their bodies, the sickness continues, because it was really a problem of the mind. The solution is to reprogram their minds through the Word for total restoration.

Prayer...
Dear Father, your Word has come to me today to renew my mind, and programme me for the victory-life. My faith in the Word prevails today and always over all circumstances, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

DrummaBoy: On 29th August 2013, the first ever e-convention was convened on nairaland www.nairaland.com/1416947/welcome-e-grace-convention-2013. The subject of discuss was mainly the grace of God manifested to all men. We had basically nairalanders present papers and it was a real blessing.

In the build up to the grace convention of last year, Goshen360, the convener, tgirl4real and myself, organized the program privately and decided on the speakers and topics. Some people were unhappy with our choice of speakers; so we decided then that if ever there will be another, the choices will be made more openly.

Therefore this thread is created as a fore runner to the GRACE CONVENTION 2014! Here nlanders will choose who they want to hear from and you would decide what topics you want discussed. However, Goshen and I will act as moderators to ensure the thread is not too open ended. To ensure this, I will enumerate some basic rules that would guide us in the choice of teachers and topics:

1. The central theme of the convention is GRACE: the grace of God revealed to all men in Jesus. Therefore all topics and subtopics must be related to grace. It doesn't have to mean that the word grace must be in the topic, it simply means that the topic must be biblical, for which God's grace is a central theme.

2. Speakers must be professing Christians.

3. Topics can also include life issues that cannot be divorced from the Christian life.

4. Suggestions are welcome but final choice of topics and speakers shall rest with the moderators though you can count on it that we shall be as fair as humanly possible.

5. This rule section shall be updated through the discuss and so suggestions for rules are welcome but will be ratified by moderators.

6. Moderators for the thread are Goshen360 and DrummaBoy.

We encourage you to make insightful suggestions and to avoid snide remarks.

Thank you.

Empowered with all Might- Thursday, July 24th

…That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness (Colossians 1:9-11).

It’s God’s will for us to be strengthened; that is, empowered with ALL might (miracle-working) power in our spirits! Ponder on that for a moment. He wants us filled, not with some of His power, but with all of it. He’s dealing here with “dunamis” (Greek); inherent power. He wants this power working in you.

This shouldn’t be difficult for any Christian to comprehend at all, because the one who’s born again, and has received the Holy Spirit, has received the power of God; for the Holy Spirit is the power of God. Acts 1:8 says, “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you….” The question now is, how can you make this power you have inside you, work for you?

The first thing is to recognize that you have it in you. You don’t need to ask God for more power. The power of God is in you. That means you can’t be disadvantaged. Acknowledge this about yourself always. In Philippians 4:13, Paul didn’t say, “O God, I pray you’ll give me power to do all things.” Realizing that all the power he needed was already in him, he declared, “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”

Secondly, know that the power you’ve received works with attitude. Yes, you’ve been empowered with all might, and can do all things, but you must balance it with good character: love, patience, joyfulness, meekness, and humility. Observe that the latter part of our opening verse says, “… Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness.”

Some people endure with anger when they face certain situations. But we’re admonished to endure with joyfulness; patient and hopeful that the righteousness of God will be established in that situation. Therefore, in exercising your power to do anything, and effect changes in your life and in your environment, do so with patience, longsuffering (endurance), joyfulness, and humility.

Confession. ..
I'm strengthened with all might by God’s Spirit in my inner man. I have the right attitude of humility in the face of staggering opposition. Glory to God!

Influenced And Dominated By His Righteousness ·WEDNESDAY 23rd July ·

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, the just shall live by faith (Romans 1:16-17).

The written Word of God is the revelation of God delivered to us, that we might be filled with the knowledge of His will, and understand the life of righteousness He’s brought us into. This means our thinking and perspective on everything and in every situation, should be from the standpoint of His righteousness. It should be God’s interpretation, and not from man’s perspective. When you have this mind-set, it makes no difference the challenges you face, what or who offends you, you’ll respond in love, conscious that you’re the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.

Consider the Lord Jesus: He responded in love to His accusers and wouldn’t rail back at them. He prayed to God for them, saying, "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do." Can you think like that about someone who has offended you? That’s how God wants you to respond to your detractors; not as a mere man but as the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. He wants the Gospel of Christ, in which the righteousness of God is revealed, to be fully expressed in and through you.

Refuse to allow anything else express itself through you; not even the pervading culture of your environment. Let the culture of the Gospel of Jesus Christ be expressed through you. Have that dominion.

Imagine being in a traffic situation and a careless driver rams into your car. Would you impulsively rain invectives at him for his action? That wouldn’t be the Christ-like response. It’s important that you don’t respond to people in anger or bitterness. It doesn’t matter what someone says or does to you, let the righteousness of Christ—His love-nature influence and dominate your actions.

Confession...
I’m the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. I walk in the revelation of God’s Word, filled with the knowledge of His will, in all wisdom and spiritual understanding. I’m joyful, full of love and kindness. The love and righteousness of God are expressed through me today. Halleluiah!

The God-life In You · TUESDAY 22nd July·

And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life (1 John 5:11-12).

Your consciousness of your personality, origin, and heritage in Christ will affect the way you live, control the decisions you make, and the things that happen with, and around you. This is why you should be conscious of the life of God that’s in you. The Lord Jesus said in John 5:26, "For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself." We read in our opening scripture that God has given us eternal life. What is this eternal life?

Eternal life is the life and nature of God imparted to the spirit of the one who believes in Jesus. It’s the supernatural life of God in your spirit, making you invincible, indestructible, and superior to Satan, sickness, disease, failure and death. The Apostle John in 1 John 5:13 writes, "These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life...." God wants you to be conscious of His life in you. That consciousness gives you the winner’s mentality.

You don’t have to "feel" it in your body first to be conscious that you have eternal life; it’s in your spirit. Every so often, declare that the life of God is in you: from the crown of your head to the soles of your feet! Perhaps you got injured and it’s hurting terribly, remind yourself that you have the life of God in you. You’re born of the Spirit and the Word of God; your life is supernatural. That means there has to be a restoration.

Some people have had minor injuries that wouldn’t heal for many years. Such injuries eventually degenerated into debilitating ailments that cost them their lives, only because they knew nothing about this life of God. It’s the miracle-life! It’s incorruptible. If you feel the symptoms of sickness in your body, activate the power of the God-life in you by praying in tongues, and speaking the Word. Within a short while, you’d notice strength and vitality return to your body.

Confession..
I have the life of God in me; it flows in every fibre of my being. No sickness, disease or infirmity can thrive in my body, because the same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead lives in me, and has vitalized my body through and through! I’m whole, sound, and excellent, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

frosbel: Paul worked , I know many full time ministers who work also full time, in fact some are even medical consultants with all the busyness that encompasses such a position.

It is sheer laziness to depend on other hardworking people who also have some degree of church responsibility and personal priorities.

Giving also seems to be specifically directed to the preacher which is in total contrast to the early church where giving was primary directed to the poor, feeble, orphans and widows.

This whole concept of Pastors trying to personalise and hijack donations, be it tithe or offering is just disgusting.

Remember what Paul himself said :

"so that you would follow our example. 10For even when we were with you, we used to give you this order: if anyone is not willing to work, then he is not to eat, either. 11For we hear that some among you are leading an undisciplined life, doing no work at all, but acting like busybodies.…" - 2 Thessalonians 3:10-11

1 Timothy 5:17-18 Elders who do their work well should be respected and paid well, especially those who work hard at both preaching and teaching. For the Scripture says, “You must not muzzle an ox to keep it from eating as it treads out the grain.” And in another place, “Those who work deserve their pay!” (NLT)

Paul was writing to a young Pastor... I see it's cool we derail this thread at this point! cheesy

1 Corinthians 9:9 For the law of Moses says, “You must not muzzle an ox to keep it from eating as it treads out the grain.” Was God thinking only about oxen when he said this? (NLT)

Again, Paul refers to this expression of "not muzzling an ox while it is treading out the grain." Even though many times Paul chose not to accept financial support, he still argued for the Old Testament principle that those who serve full time to meet the spiritual needs of people, deserve to receive monetary support from them.

1 Corinthians 9:14 In the same way, the Lord ordered that those who preach the Good News should be supported by those who benefit from it. (NLT)

In verses such as Luke 10:7-8 and Matthew 10:10, the Lord Jesus himself taught the same precept, that spiritual workers deserve to be paid for their service.

Use Your Mind · MONDAY 21th July·

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God (Romans 12:2).

The focus of Romans chapter 12 is the subject of thoughts—the use of your mind. Your mind is an instrument given to you by God to improve your life from glory to glory. You have to see first in your mind the things you desire for your life, and create them. Thoughts are pictures of the mind that have power and create realities.

The quickest way to affect your thoughts is through mental pictures. Every man is the character of his thoughts. Your mind can make you poor or make you rich; it can put you in the place of glory or in a place of dishonour. The Bible tells us about Lazarus, a righteous man who was a beggar (Luke 16:20-21). When he died, he was carried by the angels to Abraham’s bosom, but he lived and died a beggar, not because that was his destiny, but because that was his mind-set.

Romans 12:3 says God has given to everyone the measure of faith; so it’s about what you do with your faith. If Lazarus had projected himself in faith, envisioning his rich heritage as the seed of Abraham, he wouldn’t have remained poor.

Use your mind to focus, and project yourself to your next greater level. However, don’t disdain or berate others who’re yet to attain your level of reasoning. Don’t compare yourself with them; rather, understand that each of us is at a different level of faith, and gifted differently.

How do you think? Jesus often challenged the Jews to think right. Use your mind correctly, to picture your glorious and victorious life in Christ.

Confession...
My mind is anointed to think right, being the mind of Christ. I think excellent thoughts, and I only see pictures of excellence, success, victory, and abundance. I focus my mind on things that are true, honest, just, pure, lovely, of good report, virtuous and praiseworthy. Halleluiah!

Further Study:
Luke 6:45; A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.

Philippians 4:8
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness. Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham (Galatians 3:6-7).

Romans 10:6-8 explains that there’s the righteousness which is of faith, and that righteousness speaks. What exactly does it speak? Let’s read: "But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise, Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down from abovesmiley Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead.) But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach."

Notice the underlined portion again; it says concisely, "Don’t ask God ‘How?’" That’s a principle of faith in the Kingdom of God. Don’t ask Him how the miracle is going to happen; He’s too big to be asked "How?" Leave the ‘how’ to Him. Stop trying to figure out how your faith will work and produce the miracle you need right now. Your responsibility is to keep speaking and acting on the Word.

When you want things to happen in a certain way, don’t ask "How is God going to do it?" He’s the God of all flesh; the Monarch of the universe, there’s nothing too hard for Him. He’s your "how!" Don’t ask Him, or try to rationalize how His Word will come to pass in your life.

Consider Abraham: he believed God and it was accounted to him for righteousness. The Bible says he made an unqualified committal of himself to God’s Word. Against hope, he believed in hope, that he would become the father of many nations, in line with God’s Word to him (Romans 4:18). He was fully persuaded that, what God had promised, He was also able to perform (Romans 4:21)

Rather than ask God "How?" the latter part of Romans 10:8-10 tells us how faith talks: it speaks the same thing with God in consent, and that settles it forever! Faith accepts, believes, endorses, and confesses God’s Word as absolute truth, and acts accordingly.

He’s Too Big To Be Questioned "How?" · SUNDAY 20th July·

Confession....
The word of faith is in my heart, and in my mouth; that’s the Word of faith by which I live. I speak the same things in consent with the Word: I’m victorious, prosperous, healthy, marvelously helped and favoured of the Lord today, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Fosbel... I refuse to respond to your posts...I'm here for posterity sake, not u or DB's

Now...can u partner with Joagbaje to take the healing gospel of Jesus to those broken by poverty, hate, sorrow and all form of negativities... £50 would be a wonderful effort. I know u r JW, evn JW's would one day love to walk the streets of Sudan with their tracts and books, wouldn't they?

[NLT] Romans 10:14 But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them?
[NLT] Romans 10:15 And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent? That is why the Scriptures say, “How beautiful are the feet of messengers who bring good news!”

Quit the biasness or are you allergic to good news?

DrummaBoy: @Image123, Bidam and Gombs

I believe my posts for the last hour or so has answered everyone of your queries. If you still have anymore, I advice you read those posts again.

Outside of this, I humbly request that the three of you should stop derailing this thread. If you are bent on "saying this truths" or you are certain that someone conscience is being pricked on tithe or you think someone misquoted your sermon, you can open new threads for those, I can assure you that Seun will not complain.

Pls, this thread, again, is about designing an anti tithe tract, that common sense should dictate only those opposed to the fraudulent regime of tithing can participate in.
Oh no! We are not derailing, we just registering our presence, so that in 4 months time...we could boldly say "we told you this was doomed to fail from day 1, didn’t we?"
Use that £50 and preach salvation na...souls are wasting each day, and the best place to put ur £50 is anti tithing?

The other day I saw on LoveWorld news what Joagbaje's church is doing internationally...impacting 40 million folks in Sudan with the gospel of Jesus... yes, 40, 000, 000...sponsoring 20 TV stations with the Gospel of Christ... Note, sudan has less than 5% christians.

Dey there dey fight a loosing battle. In the end, on that great daya when we would all stand before that great white throne, Jesus will ask you what u did with the gospel, I hope u boldly scream u sponsored anti tithing track and was passionate in fighting tithing...

Bidam: You talked about "my frustrations" if that is not rantings like a sissy i do not know what you can qualify that to be. And lastly in terms of cognition, you should go check whose posts is full of irrelevancies and pointless remarks! Clearly yours not mine. The tithe phobia you have since you came here on nairaland can be cured, if you allow God to work on your life.

But clearly your obsessions about God's tithe won't let you allow Him to help you.

There are christians who tithe without having any problems doing so. No verse in the bible condemns ANYONE for tithing.

Tithing in itself as a form of giving is not condemned anywhere in the bible.

Those who want to express their GIVING in the form of tithes TODAY are absolutely free to do so.

I will keep saying this TRUTH till it sinks in and you are liberated from this foolish madness of yours. Cheers.
grin grin

Pls guys I get cell meeting by 4pm to go prepare for...I don laff tire...let me prepare for prayers abeg...

alexleo: Its a very simple thing. If I am not lying about an issue and somebody quotes Ananias case to me i will simply say - no problem. A clear conscience shouldn't panic in such statement. When you panic it shows there is something behind it. Let me tell you that nothing is biting me about what you people are doing. I'm not rigid about tithe. I'm not also convinced to stop and i dont condemn those who are not paying tithe. As you are led pls go ahead. Its a free world. My simple prayer is- If what you people are doing is truly from God, may it prosper but if it is not from God, may it crash. Amen. I dont think the Op banned tithers from commenting. If he did, i will stop commenting.
That's what succinctly separate tithers from anti tithers. Tithers don't condemn non tithers, rather tell them what the bible says about robbing him, but anti tithers, condemn, insult both tithers and pastors and the churches, call the thieves and fraudsters and so many invectives and verbal/written excreta... but we aint perturbed, because the weapon of our warfare are not carnal, there's is carnal...no matter how bad truth is beaten, it shall ALWAYS win in the end

DrummaBoy: I believe you are directing your question at the wrong person. It is Bidam you should be asking those question and possibly, also, ask him what could be eating him up.

Check the Genesis of his post here, it has been one diatribe after another. What exactly has anyone said that requires a reminder of Ananias and Saphira? Is it not high time someone shows him the source of his frustrations, which is so well captured in the scripture trustman provided?

If anyone is panicking here, it should be firstly Gombs and then lately Bidam. And for reasons no one can tell because no one has asked them for anything to make the tracts. So the first question that you should be asking them both, or which all of you tithers should be asking yourselves is what exactly is your business here on this thread? And if it is to exercise your freedom of expression, then what exactly is biting you guys about the printing of a tithe tract? Or are you pastors whose business would be threatened by the project?

Let's start with those for now.
Thanks for the laugh bro grin grin

Perfect case of crying wolf! U shd see the way u invade threads....and I just predicted doom for the said project, bidam only made a wish...u were pricked in conscience, why? I don't know, but like alex asked? What art thou afraid of if u doing the right thing? Why the sudden panic? Could it be fear of apparent failure of the project?
